CCA 방부처리 목재로부터 크롬, 구리 및 비소의 용탈 특성 (Characteristics of Chromium, Copper, and Arsenic Leaching from CCA-Treated Wood)

  • A laboratory experiment was conducted to study the characteristics of leaching of Cr, Cu, and As from chromated topper arsenate (CCA)-treated wood. The wood species tested was hemlock spruce ($10\;cm\;{\times}\;10\;cm\;{\times}\;10\;cm\;tube$). The leaching experiment was conducted over 60 days using I L of leachants whose pHs were adjusted to 2.0, 3.7, and 1.6, respectively with nitric acid, and also using lake water, according to the OECD guideline. Each leachate was analyzed for Cr and Cu using flame-AAS, and for As using vapor generation-AAS. Three metals were loathed at the highest levels at pH 2.0 but almost at similar levels at the other conditions. Cumulative quantifies over 60 days of a leaching period were in order of As>Cu>Cr. As was predicted to leach with an increase in flux over a 10 year period, while Cr and Cu fluxes were predicted to decrease with time. This result suggest that arsenic can pose a health risk to humans over a long period of time, when CCA-treated wood is used for building facilities (e.g., playgrounds, residential purposes, etc.) with which humans frequently contact.

Soft computing techniques in prediction Cr(VI) removal efficiency of polymer inclusion membranes

  • In this study soft computing techniques including, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) were investigated for the prediction of Cr(VI) transport efficiency by novel Polymer Inclusion Membranes (PIMs). Transport experiments carried out by varying parameters such as time, film thickness, carrier type, carier rate, plasticizer type, and plasticizer rate. The predictive performance of ANN and ANFIS model was evaluated by using statistical performance criteria such as Root Mean Standard Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Coefficient of Determination (R2). Moreover, Sensitivity Analysis (SA) was carried out to investigate the effect of each input on PIMs Cr(VI) removal efficiency. The proposed ANN model presented reliable and valid results, followed by ANFIS model results. RMSE and MAE values were 0.00556, 0.00163 for ANN and 0.00924, 0.00493 for ANFIS model in the prediction of Cr(VI) removal efficiency on testing data sets. The R2 values were 0.973 and 0.867 on testing data sets by ANN and ANFIS, respectively. Results show that the ANN-based prediction model performed better than ANFIS. SA demonstrated that time; film thickness; carrier type and plasticizer type are major operating parameters having 33.61%, 26.85%, 21.07% and 8.917% contribution, respectively.

Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V-xNi 주철의 내식성 및 피삭성에 미치는 Ni의 영향 (Effect of Nickel Content on Corrosion Resistance and Machinability of Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V-xNi Cast Iron)

  • 압출기 스크류 소재는 주로 냉간 금형 공구강(SKD11)이 사용되고 있는데, 최근 합성 수지의 발달로 화학적 부식 및 마모 발생이 증가하고 있다. 이를 개선하기 위해 내마모성과 내식성이 우수한 고크롬 주철의 사용이 요구되지만, 난가공성으로 사용이 기피되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고크롬 합금의 난가공성을 개선하기 위해 Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V 조성의 고크롬 주철에 가공성이 우수한 니켈을 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 % 첨가하여 주조하고 열처리를 진행한 후, 선삭 시험과 동전위 분극 시험을 통해 니켈이 피삭성 및 내식성에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 SKD11과 비교하였다. 고크롬 주철은 고주파 진공유도용해로를 사용하여 주조하고, 이후 750 ℃에서 5시간 동안 풀림 처리와 풀림 처리 후 1100 ℃에서 5시간동안 재열처리를 실시하였다. 750 ℃ 풀림 처리 후 선삭 시험을 실시한 결과 니켈의 함량이 1.0% 이상에서 피삭성은 현저히 향상되었다. 5% NaCl 용액에서 동전위 분극 시험 결과 주방상태와 750 ℃ 풀림 처리에서는 니켈의 함량이 증가할수록 내식성은 저하되었으나, 1100 ℃ 재열처리 후에는 1.5% 니켈에서 가장 우수한 내식성을 나타냈다.

Fe-2.3%Cr-1.6%W 합금의 고온산화 부식속도와 스케일 분석 (High-temperature Oxidation Kinetics and Scales Formed on Fe-2.3%Cr-1.6%W Alloy)

  • The T23 steel, whose composition was Fe-2.3%Cr-1.6%W, was arc-melted, and oxidized between $600^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ in air for up to 7 months. The amount of precipitates in the arc-melted microstructure was as large as 11.4 vol.%. The precipitates increased the oxidation rate of the arc-melted T23 steel. Owing to the low amount of Cr in the T23 steel, breakaway oxidation occurred after a few hours during oxidation above $700^{\circ}C$ in both arc-melted and as-received T23 steels. The scales that formed on arc-melted and as-received T23 steels were similar to each other. They consisted primarily of the outer $Fe_2O_3$ layer and the inner ($Fe_2O_3$, $FeCr_2O_4$)-mixed layer. The precipitates increased the microhardness and the oxidation rates.

Chromium(III) Complex Obtained from Dipicolinic Acid: Synthesis, Characterization, X-Ray Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Studies

  • The synthesis, X-ray crystallography, spectroscopic (IR, UV-vis), and electrochemical properties of the title compound, $[H_3O][Cr(dipic)_2][H_3O^+.Cl^-]$ (1), ($H_2dipic$ = 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid), are reported. This complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cc with a = 14.9006(10) ${\AA}$, b = 12.2114(8) ${\AA}$, c = 8.6337(6) ${\AA}$, ${\alpha}=90.00^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=92.7460(10)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}=90.00^{\circ}$, and V = 1569.16(18) ${\AA}^3$ with Z = 4. The hydrogen bonding and noncovalent interactions play roles in the stabilization of the structure. In order to gain a better understanding of the most important geometrical parameters in the structure of the complex, atoms in molecules (AIM) method at B3LYP/6-31G level of theory has been employed.

Spectral and Mechanistic Investigation of Oxidative Decarboxylation of Phenylsulfinylacetic Acid by Cr(VI)

  • The oxidative decarboxylation of phenylsulfinylacetic acid (PSAA) by Cr(VI) in 20% acetonitrile -80% water (v/v) medium follows overall second order kinetics, first order each with respect to [PSAA] and [Cr(VI)] at constant [$H^+$] and ionic strength. The reaction is acid catalysed, the order with respect to [$H^+$] is unity and the active oxidizing species is found to be $HCrO_3^+$. The reaction mechanism involves the rate determining nucleophilic attack of sulfur atom of PSAA on chromium of $HCrO_3^+$ forming a sulfonium ion intermediate. The intermediate then undergoes ${\alpha}$,${\beta}$-cleavage leading to the liberation of $CO_2$. The product of the reaction is found to be methyl phenyl sulfone. The operation of substituent effect shows that PSAA containing electron-releasing groups in the meta- and para-positions accelerate the reaction rate while electron withdrawing groups retard the rate. An excellent correlation is found to exist between log $k_2$ and Hammett ${\sigma}$ constants with a negative value of reaction constant. The ${\rho}$ value decreases with increase in temperature evidencing the high reactivity and low selectivity in the case of substituted PSAAs.

고크롬 주철의 기계적 특성에 미치는 열처리 영향 (The Effects of Heat-treatment on the Mechanical Properties of High Chromium Cast Irons)

  • Mechanical characteristics of Hi-Cr cast irons containing 16.8%Cr and 3.0%C were studied with various heat treatments. After as-cast Y-block ingots were annealed fully, the ingots were machined into cylinderical specimens with the size of 9mm in diameter and 20mm in length in order to investigate the effect of heat-treatments on mechanical characteristics of high Cr cast irons. All specimens were heat-treated by quenching- tempering, austempering and cyclic heat at the various temperatures(950, 1000, 1050 and $1100^{\circ}C$) respectively. The wear amount was measured for each heat-treated specimens against the counterpart of a hardened SKD11 steel at the following conditions; wearing velocity: 0.7 m/s, load: 100N and sliding distance: 70 km. After as-cast specimens were annealed, fine $M_{3}C$ carbides were formed, which affected the hardness and the wear resistance of Hi-Cr specimens. High hardness and good wear resistance were appeared on the specimens treated at 950 and $1000^{\circ}C$ and the austempered specimens show excellent wear resistance as well as high hardness.

저 마찰 건식 마모 특성을 가지는 크로마이징 처리 소결부품의 표면 현상에 관한 연구 (The study on surface phenomena of chromizing sintered steels with low frictional and dry wear properties)

  • 철계 소결 부품은 성형의 용이성, 저렴한 가격, 특유의 기공성 입계조직으로 기능성 표면처리에 적합한 소재이다. 본 연구에서는 고온 부식 및 극심한 마모환경에 노출되는 발전소 터빈과 같은 부품의 표면처리에 주로 쓰이는 Pack-chromizing 법을 적용한 철계 소결부품의 내마모 특성을 알아보고자 한다. AFM 분석결과, Pack-chromizing 에 의해 Cr이 확산된 표층의 형상이 Peak-and-Valley 형태의 치밀한 dimple 구조로 변화된 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, XRD 및 XPS 분석을 통해 chromium carbide 및 $Cr_2O_3$와 같은 고경도의 화합물 층이 형성됨을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 이러한 dimple 구조를 띈 고경도의 화합물 층이 표면의 마찰계수를 저하시키는 주요 원인임을 본 연구에서 논하고자 한다.

아크릴계 이온교환섬유를 이용한 수중 크롬(VI) 제거 (Chromium(VI) Removal from Aqueous Solution using Acrylic Ion Exchange Fiber)

  • PAN 기반 아크릴계 섬유와 DETA 및 $AlCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$를 반응시켜 아민기($-NH_2$)를 가진 이온교환섬유 PADD를 합성하였다. 개발된 섬유상 소재는 FT-IR과 SEM을 이용하여 그 특성을 확인해 보았다. 회분식 실험으로 수행된 PADD를 이용한 크롬제거 실험 결과는 Langmuir 등온흡착모델에 잘 적용되었으며, 이때 계산된 이론적 최대흡착능 ($Q_{max}$)은 6.93 mmol/g으로 나타났다. 한편 동적흡착실험은 Lagergren 유사이차속도모델에 잘 부합되었다. PADD의 크롬 흡착능은 pH 2에서 가장 높은 값인 4.11 mmol/g을 나타내었고 pH 변화에 많은 영향을 받는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 인산과 비소(V)에 대한 공존이온 실험을 통해 PADD가 크롬에 대한 높은 선택성을 갖고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 산-염기 역적정으로 구한 PADD의 총이온교환능 (4.70 mmol/g)을 통해 소재의 선택적 제거 가능성을 검증하였다.

유도결합 플라즈마 발광분광기의 매트릭스 보정법에 의한 구리 중납, 카드뮴 및 크롬 분석에 관한 연구 (The Study on Analytical Method of Lead, Cadmium and Chromium in Copper Metal by Matrix Matching Method of Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer)

  • 일정 농도의 Pb, Cd 및 Cr이 첨가된 합성 Cu표준시료용액 (RMs)을 ICP로 여러 파장에서 Cu매트릭스 미 보정 검정곡선에 준하여 분석한 결과 모든 원소가 전 파장에서 Cu매트릭스의 영향을 받아 정확도 (Pb 140$\sim$1 090%)가 떨어졌다. Pb, Cd 및 Cr의 각각 일정 농도에 Cu의 농도를 변화시켜 분석한 결과 Cu 0.05 wt/v % (0.05 g/100 mL) 이상을 함유하면 실제 Pb, Cd 및 Cr이 첨가된 농도보다 Cu의 농도가 증가함에 따라 일정함수의 비로 감소하거나 증가하여 Cu매트릭스의 영향이 심함을 볼 수 있었다. Cu매트릭스 보정법에 의한 합성 Cu표준시료용액 (RMs)을 분석한 결과 99.9% 이상의 정확도를 보여주었다.
