  • This paper presents the three section sliding mode control algorithm based on variable structure current controller design in a synchronous frame and indirect field oriented control method, and applies it to the position control of induction motor. This control scheme solves the problem of robustness loss during the reaching phase that occurs in a conventional VSC strategy, and ensures the stable sliding mode and robustness enhancement throughout an entire response. As the performance of a VSI fed induction motor drives depends on the characteristics of inner loop current controller, it is desired that the current controller have the fast tracking and robust nature. Therefore, we introduced the voltage mapping table based on the concept of voltage space vector for variable structure current control, and implemented fully digital control system using 16-bit microcontroller with on-chip peripherals without additional processing circuits. Simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of this control scheme for robust AC servo drive system of VSI fed induction motor.

Controlling a lamprey-based robot with an electronic nervous system

  • We are developing a biomimetic robot based on the Sea Lamprey. The robot consists of a cylindrical electronics bay propelled by an undulatory body axis. Shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators generate propagating flexion waves in five undulatory segments of a polyurethane strip. The behavior of the robot is controlled by an electronic nervous system (ENS) composed of networks of discrete-time map-based neurons and synapses that execute on a digital signal processing chip. Motor neuron action potentials gate power transistors that apply current to the SMA actuators. The ENS consists of a set of segmental central pattern generators (CPGs), modulated by layered command and coordinating neuron networks, that integrate input from exteroceptive sensors including a compass, accelerometers, inclinometers and a short baseline sonar array (SBA). The CPGs instantiate the 3-element hemi-segmental network model established from physiological studies. Anterior and posterior propagating pathways between CPGs mediate intersegmental coordination to generate flexion waves for forward and backward swimming. The command network mediates layered exteroceptive reflexes for homing, primary orientation, and impediment compensation. The SBA allows homing on a sonar beacon by indicating deviations in azimuth and inclination. Inclinometers actuate a bending segment between the hull and undulator to allow climb and dive. Accelerometers can distinguish collisions from impediment to allow compensatory reflexes. Modulatory commands mediate speed control and turning. A SBA communications interface is being developed to allow supervised reactive autonomy.

초음파 섹터 B-스캐너의 개발(I)-프론트 엔드 부분- (Development of Ultrasound Sector B-Scanner(I)-Front End Hardware Part-)

  • 개발된 초음파 섹터 B-스캐너 시제품에서 프론트 엔드 하드웨어는 초음파펄스의 송신 및 수신을 담당하는 부분으로서 변환자에 펄스를 인가하는 펄스발생기, 진폭이 미약한 애널로그 신호를 처리하는 수신회로 및 기계식 섹터 탐촉자를 구동하는 조향제어회로의 3부분으로 크게 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 위 3부분의 기능 및 설계에 관하여 기술한다. 완성된 프론트 엔드 하드웨어의 특징 가운데 중요한 몇가지만 살펴보면, 링다운 시간을 감소시키는 펄스발생기를 사용하여 축방향의 해상도를 증가시켰고 시가변이득 증폭기에 필요한 제어전압을 여러 형태로 만들 수 있으며 탐촉자내에 있는 감지기의 출력파형을 기준으로 본 초음파 진단장치의 모든 시스템에 공급될 레이트 펄스를 만들어 주는 것이라고 말할 수 있다.

CMOS Floating 저항을 이용한 저역통과 필터의 설계 (Low Pass Filter Design using CMOS Floating Resister)

  • 요즈음 CMOS 기술의 발전에 의해서 연속시간 신호시스템이 매우 각광을 받고 있다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 음성신호 처리영역에서 동작하는 CMOS floating 저항을 이용한저역통과 필터를 설계하였다. 특히 이 논문에서는 포화영역에서 동작하는 all CMOS floating 저항을 설계하였으며, $\pm$1V 영역에서 $\pm$0.04%의 선형성이 얻어졌다. 주파수 응답은10MHz를 초과하였으며 능동 RC회로의 집적화에 매우 유용할것으로 생각한다. 이 방법에 의해 설계도니 저역통과필터는 SC 필터보다 그 구조가 간단하므로 IC의 형태로 만들 때 칩 면적을 많이 줄일 수 있다. 설계된 필터의 특성은 pspice에 의해 시뮬레이션 하였으며, 그 특성이 우수함이 입증되었다.

롤러 기어 캠의 시제품 가공특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Machining Characteristics of Prototype of Roller Gear Cams)

  • In the study, the effect grinding condition on the workpiece arithmetical average roughness(Ra) to 10 steps leading to cutting each section with the spindle rotational speed 8000rpm and feed rate 150mm/min of grinding in GC(green silicon carbide) grinding processing after heat treatment and non heat treatment of SCM415 material. Also the following conclusions were obtained analysis of stress distribution displacement and finite elements method(FEM) on assemble parts with 3+2 axis simultaneous control through grinding and gave a load 11kg on ATC arm both sides gave a load of 11kg. For the centerline average roughness(Ra) in the heat and non-heat treatment work pieces, which were appeared the most favorable in the fifth section were $0.511{\mu}m$ and $0.514{\mu}m$, that were shown in the near the straight line section was the smallest deformation of curve. In addition, the bad surface roughness appeared on the path is too long by changing angle, the more inclined depth of cut, because the chip discharging is not smoothly.

PCB에 장착된 SMD 의 부분영상을 이용한 리드의 최대 벗어난 양의 측정 (Measurement of maximum deviation of leads using partial image of SMD mounted on PCB)

  • There are several types of defects of SMDs mounted on PCB, that is, missing components, misalignment, wrong parts and poor solder joints. This research study mainly focuses on measuring of deviation of SMD leads using the partial image of component, not using the full image. This processing based on the partial image has the advantage of the reduction in calculation time compared to the full image. Since position of lead is calculated with respect of the reduction in calculation time compared to the full image. Since position of lead is calculated with respect to pad, the accuracy of the system is not dependent on percise positioning stage. The grabbed image of gray scale is converted into binary format using a cutomatic threshold. After small fragments in the image is removed by a series of morphology operations such as opening and closing, the centroids of PCB pads and SMD leads is obtained together with labeling of blobs. Translational shift and rotationial angle of SMD are succedingly estimated using above information and chip data. The expression that can calculate the maximum deviation of leads with respect to PCB pads has been derived, and inferior mounting of SMD is judged by a given criterion. Some experiments have been executed to verify this measuring scheme.

실시간 데이터 압축을 위한 Lempel-Ziv 압축기의 효과적인 구조의 제안 (An efficient Hardware Architecture of Lempel-Ziv Compressor for Real Time Data Compression)

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 데이터 압축을 위한 Lempel-Ziv 압축기의 효과적인 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 일반적으로 Lempel-Ziv 알고리즘의 구현에서는 matching 바이트 탐색과 dictionary 버퍼의 누적된 shift 동작이 처리 속도에 가장 중요한 문제이다. 제안하는 구조에서는 dictionary 크기를 최적화하는 방법과 복수개의 바이트를 동시에 비교하는 matching 바이트 처리 방법, 그리고 회전 FIEO 구조를 이용하여 shift 동작 제어 방법을 이용함으로써 효과적인 Lempel-Ziv 알고리즘의 처리 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 구조는 상용 DSP를 사용하여 하드웨어적으로 정확하게 동작함을 검증하였으며, VHDL로 기술한 후 회로 합성을 수행하여 상용 FPGA 칩에 구현하였다. 제안된 구조는 시스템 클락 33㎒, 비트율 256Kbps 전용선에서 오류 없이 동작함을 확인하였다.

Comparison of Artificial Neural Networks for Low-Power ECG-Classification System

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) classification has become an essential task of modern day wearable devices, and can be used to detect cardiovascular diseases. State-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based ECG classifiers have been designed using various artificial neural networks (ANNs). Despite their high accuracy, ANNs require significant computational resources and power. Herein, three different ANNs have been compared: multilayer perceptron (MLP), convolutional neural network (CNN), and spiking neural network (SNN) only for the ECG classification. The ANN model has been developed in Python and Theano, trained on a central processing unit (CPU) platform, and deployed on a PYNQ-Z2 FPGA board to validate the model using a Jupyter notebook. Meanwhile, the hardware accelerator is designed with Overlay, which is a hardware library on PYNQ. For classification, the MIT-BIH dataset obtained from the Physionet library is used. The resulting ANN system can accurately classify four ECG types: normal, atrial premature contraction, left bundle branch block, and premature ventricular contraction. The performance of the ECG classifier models is evaluated based on accuracy and power. Among the three AI algorithms, the SNN requires the lowest power consumption of 0.226 W on-chip, followed by MLP (1.677 W), and CNN (2.266 W). However, the highest accuracy is achieved by the CNN (95%), followed by MLP (76%) and SNN (90%).

세이핑에 의한 렌티큘러 렌즈 금형 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Lenticular Lens Mold Fabrication by Shaping)

  • Recently, micro machining technology for high precision mold becomes more interested for mass production of high performance optical parts micro-grooved on the surface, which is under very active development due to its effectiveness in the view point of optical performance. Mechanical micro machining technology now has more competitiveness on lithography, MEMS or LIGA processes which have some problems to fabricate especially cylinder type of groove in such as lenticular lens for illumination angle modulation system. In this study. a lenticular lens mold with U-type micro groove is fabricated making utilizing of the benefit of the mechanical micro machining technology. A shaping machining process is adapted using 3 axis degree of freedom micro machining system and single crystal natural diamond tool. A brass and a electroless nickel materials are used for mold fabrication. Machining force, chip shape and machined surface are investigated from the experiment and an optimal machining condition is found based on the examined problems from the micro cutting process.

PCB 패턴 검출을 위한 FPGA 기반 프레임 그래버 시스템 구현 (Implementation of an FPGA-based Frame Grabber System for PCB Pattern Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 FPGA를 기반으로 Camera Link (Medium)를 제공하는 PCB 패턴 검출 시스템을 구현하였다. 시스템 구현을 위해 비전 라이브러리를 IP로 구현하여 고속으로 패턴 매칭을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 구현된 IP는 영상입력용 카메라링크 IP, 히스토그램 IP, VGA 제어 IP, 수직투영 IP 및 수평투영 IP가 있다. 디지털 카메라에서 고속으로 전송되는 영상을 처리하기 위해 Xilinx사의 Virtex-5 계열의 FPGA 칩을 사용하였다. 그래버 시스템 구현을 위해 RISC 구조의 CPU인 MicroBlaze를 사용하였으며, PC와의 연동을 위해 PCI Express를 사용하였으며, 영상의 처리결과는 컴퓨터의 모니터와 7인치 LCD에 표현하였다.
