As a result of the analysis of demographic characteristics, the number of elderly people couple living was 47.4%, living alone was 21.1%, the number of people living with a couple and their children was 13.8%, the others were 10.5%. Based on the above results, 21.1% were living alone as an elderly person. And people who the highest monthly income of less than 1 million won was 36.8%, the usual meal type, 94.7% were very much eaten with vegetarianism smoking and drinking alcohol, and 94.7% did not smoke and 73.7% drank alcohol. In conclusion, Multiple regression analysis of health control behaviors on emotional happiness showed that health control behaviors had a 15% effect on emotional happiness. The following suggestions were made through the results of this study. • The purpose of this study is to resolve the factors that affect happiness levels and leisure life satisfaction of middle-class and to find way to incorporate them into policy. In this study, a status analysis on leisure life and One-Way ANOVA conduct a study on leisure resource and income levels that affect the happiness level and leisure life satisfaction. To recap briefly, to reduce the social and cultural polarization caused by economic disparity and to promote leisure life satisfaction and happiness level is possible quantitative-qualitative growth and maturation of middle class. The most important thing here is increasing in leisure time and leisure costs that consumed in real leisure life. In other words, leisure life satisfaction and happiness levels in the middle class has seen a significant difference in depending on whether and how much to spend on leisure time and cost, rather than differences of the monthly average household income. More particularly, analysis results seem to hoping of the extra leisure costs about 50,000 won per person and increasing the leisure time on weekdays and long weekend holiday. Above all, It is important to redefine the middle class that meets the recognition of the people and it should reflect government policy. Ultimately, The state of the socio-economic-welfare policies will be further expanded in the direction for the middle class, thinking of themselves as middle class and leading national consciousness.

  • The Korean version of the Multidimensional Students' Life Satisfaction Scale for children(K-MSLSS) assesses children's subjective perceptions of Life Satisfaction(LS) in five conceptually relevant domains : Friends, School, Family, Living Environment, and Self. The purpose of the present study was to validate the five-factor structure of the K-MSLSS using Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) procedures by means of the AMOS 7.0 statistical program. Of the 681 children(10.5 years, SD=1.1) recruited from three public elementary schools in Seoul 431 children were the calibration sample and 430 children were the validation sample. Results of the analyses found that the five-factor structure of K-MSLSS is applicable for use with Korean children from 9-12 years of age regardless of gender.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of both social-status and mode of stimulus-presentation on children's empathic behavior, where empathy is defined as either the comprehension and recognition of an affective state in stimulus persons (others) or the empathic response to that perception. Middle-and lower-class kindergarten children were presented with a series of either short-sentence stories or short-pictorial stories. The subjects were asked to indicate how the child in each situation felt by selecting a "happy", "sad", or "angry" face to complete the picture accompanying each story. Immediately following the first question, children were asked to state verbally how the child in the picture might feel. The main results were (1) The mean empathy scores for the comprehension and recognition of an affective state in others and the empathic response to that perception was higher in middle-class children than in lower-class children. (2) There were differences in empathy scores to the three affective situations, i.e. the mean score for both happiness and sadness was significantly greater than for aggression, and (3) The empathy scores in the pictorial-stories were greater than in the sentence-stories.

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data to understand the interaction patterns of dual-income parents' happiness by confirming the effect of work-family reconciliation recognized by dual-income parents on parental happiness. The subjects of the study were 630 pairs of dual-income parents out of 1462 pairs of parents who participated in both the main questionnaire and in the mother and father questionnaires in the 8th Panel Study on Korean Children (2015), and they were analyzed based on the Actor and Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). The results of this study show that the gain and strain of parents' work-family reconciliation had an actor effect on parents' happiness, and the gain and strain of father work-family reconciliation had a partner effect on mother's happiness. This study was meaningful in that it provides basic data on intervention and program development that could increase the happiness of dual-income parents. In order to increase the happiness of dual-income parents, it is necessary to provide intervention and education. In the future, we propose a study to confirm changes in influencing factors of parents' happiness according to time.

  • In this article we reviewed the phenomena and processes of normalizing children through documentary records with interest in the aim of Montessori's education methods. The Montessori education method is based on the theory that all children should be respected and their works prized. The normalization of children does not mean only to turn abnormal children into normal ones, but to make normal characteristics - calmness, self-confidence, happiness or patience, etc.- which are latent in themselves, appear on the surface and remold them as new children. To achieve normalization some prerequisites are necessary. They are as follows: 1) The principle of freedom. The freedom in Montessori's education has some limits in prepared environments suitable for developing children as whole persons through their spontaneous activities. 2) Development of the phenomenon of children's attention. Arousal of their attention in the children's primitive inner impulse and sense of spiritual hunger. To satisfy their hunger children divert their interest to certain objects and come to repeated exercise of intelligence. 3) Concentration and repetitive phenomena. Repetition through children's concentration phenomenon is a natural and important fundamental behavior which controls their mental power. Repetitive behavior will form serious discipline and promote development of their intelligence.

For this purpose, this study investigated among the 226 elementary school students that are enrolled in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes at the elementary schools located in Gyeonggido, South Korea. The personality type of the students was determined by the Enneagram test. In this study, students were given with books that match their personality type and the effect of the provision was investigated. Main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the fact that books that match their own personality type made the children curious about the books, evoking their interest in reading. Second, the children exchanged their books with those who have similar personality type after they finish reading. As a result, the children could be exposed to more diverse books. Third, the students were curious about what kind of books were given to those with different personality type. The students responded that they want to read all of the different types of books too.

  • The present study sought to capture day-to-day fluctuation of the daily happiness among Korean urban older adults and to examine whether the within person fluctuation of daily happiness is explained by the social and physical activities the older adults experience each day. We also examined whether the within person association between daily social, physical activities and the daily happiness varies by individual characteristics(i.e. gender, age, educational level and health). In addition, we explored the relationships between the level and fluctuation of daily happiness and the level of global happiness. The data was collected by multi-method approach, which includes general survey, daily diary method and collection of physical activity data through the activity monitors. In total, 175 urban older adults participated for seven days of daily diary survey. The data about the number of steps and the time spent on sedentary activities, light intensity physical activities and moderate to vigorous intensity physical activities were also collected during the same period from 16 sub-samples using activity monitors. Hierarchical linear modeling was applied for the analysis. The results were as below. First, the level of happiness of older adults fluctuated during a week, and the patterns of fluctuation varied by the gender and the health. Second, socializing with their children and friends elevated their levels of happiness. Also the impact of contacts with siblings on the level of daily happiness was greater for the unhealthy group compare to the healthy group. Third, older adults were happier on the days when they walked more, but the level of daily happiness decreased on the days when they spent longer time for low intensity physical activities. Lastly, the higher level of daily happiness were related to the higher level of global happiness, but the degree of fluctuation of daily happiness was not related to the level of global happiness. The implications of these results and suggestions for future research are discussed.
