자녀와 학부모의 간접흡연예방 연계교육 프로그램의 효과 (The Effect of a Child-Parent Secondhand Smoke Prevention Program)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a child-parent secondhand smoke(SHS) prevention program(C-PSHSPP). Methods: The participants were parents whose children were attending daycare centers located in S city. The institutions were selected using two-stage cluster sampling and data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics were performed using SPSS version 18.0. Results: Number of cigarettes smoked per day, rate of smoking when with child decreased significantly. Parental awareness on SHS and scores on changes of experiential process increased significantly. Conclusions: From these results, it is suggested that the C-PSHSPP has beneficial effects in decreasing parental daily smoking amount at the same time increasing parental awareness on SHS and importance of smoking cessation. Therefore, C-PSHSPP can be recommended as a SHS intervention program for preschool children.

유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 아동기 애착경험, 성격특성, 자녀양육 스트레스와 양육행동 (Attachment Experience in Childhood, Personality Characteristics, Parenting Stress, and Parenting Behavior among Mothers with Preschool Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine: (1) relationships among mothers' attachment experience in childhood, mothers' personality characteristics, and parenting stress and parenting behavior; (2) whether mothers' personality characteristics mediate the relationship between mothers' attachment experience in childhood and parenting stress; and (3) whether mothers' personality characteristics mediate the relationship between mothers' attachment experience in childhood and parenting behavior. The subjects were 177 mothers with preschool children, and the data were collected with questionnaires. It was found that there are correlations among mothers' attachment experience in childhood, mothers' personality characteristics, parenting stress, and parenting behaviors(autonomy encouragement, and rejection). It was found that mothers' attachment experience in childhood predicts mothers' parenting stress, but the relationship is mediated by mothers' personality characteristics. It was also found that mothers' attachment experience in childhood predicts mothers' parenting behavior, but the relationship is mediated by mothers' personality characteristics.

성학대 예방교육의 접근방법에 따른 유아의 성학대 이해와 대처방안 (The Effect of Sexual Abuse Prevention Programs of Concepts of Prevention and Coping Skills in Preschool Children)

  • This study compared the effectiveness of various prevention methods(1-time video viewing; repeated video viewing; participation-enriched video viewing) used in delivering awareness of sexual abuse and coping skills to preschool children. All of the experimental groups performed better than the control group. The participation-enriched viewing group displayed higher levels of coping skills than the control and the 1-time viewing groups. Repeated viewing and participation-enriched viewing approaches were most effective in long-term understanding. The repeated viewing group showed superiority in long-term coping skills. Direct participation, interaction, and reinforcement by means of repetition are important for optimal results in sexual abuse prevention education.

유아에게 인지된 로봇의 마음이론에 관한 연구 (A Study on Preschool Children's Perceptions of a Robot's Theory of Mind)

  • In this paper, we analyzed how 5-year-old children perceive a robot's ability to attribute mental states to oneself and to others, which shall hereafter be referred to as a robot's theory of mind (RToM). A total of 34 5-year-old children were given two typical false-belief tasks, an 'unexpected-contents task' and a 'change-of-location task', in order to evaluate whether a child's perceived RToM was connected to their own ToM. In addition, we investigated whether a child's perception of RToM was influenced by either a priori experience with robots or that child's gender. The results are as follows. Firstly, the 5- year-old preschool children universally recognized robots as beings that have a human-like mind both in 1st order and 2nd order perspectives, which indicates that children perceive robots as beings distinct from mechanical toys. Secondly, a priori child-robot interaction experience was found to have a positive influence on a child's perceived RToM. Thirdly, the gender of children did not significantly affect their perceived RToM. This study serves to add to the macroscopic results of prior research, which indicate that children perceive robots as intermediate beings between living and inanimate objects: significantly, it analyzes the children's perception of robots through the lens of theory of mind, which is one of the key elements of cognitive development. This research lays the foundations for designing effective child-robot interactions, in situations in which robots serve as peers or assistants for educational purposes.

대도시 지역 학령 전 아동의 영양소 섭취량과 비만 및 빈혈과의 관계 연구 (Nutrition Intakes and Relations to the Obesity and the Prevalence of Anemia in Preschool Children Living in Metropolitan Area of Korea)

  • This study was designed to investigate nutrition intakes and its relation to the obesity and the prevalence of anemia in 252 children(136 boys, 116 girls) aged $2{\sim}6$ years. The hematological parameters, daily nutrient intakes and height and weight were measured. Calorie intakes of 2 and 3year-old-children were over their RDA while those of 4-6 years were below the RDA. Intakes of protein, P, and vit B complex were far over the RDA in all ages of children. Fe and vit A intakes were insufficient in all ages except 3 years while Ca intakes were insufficient in all ages except 2 and 3 years. About 18.2% of the children were evaluated as obese. However, very few children were anemic by hematologic parameters. The mean Hb concentrations were 12.2mg/dl in boys and also in girls. The mean Hct was 36.2% in boys, 35.8% in girls. Serum Fe concentration was 100.1mg/dl in boys, 101.1mg/dl in girls. RBC count was significantly higher in boys while MCH was significantly higher in girls. Intakes of protein, P, Fe, vit $B_1$, niacin, vit C were significantly higher in obese group compared to under weight group. There were significant positive correlations between protein intake and Hb, Hct, MCH, and MCHC. The correlation between Fe intake and Hb or Hct was not significant. In conclusion, it seems that the nutritional status of the most children was in very good condition. However, they needed to take more foods supplying Fe, Ca, and vit A.

Cognitive Function, Emotional and Behavioral Problems, and Temperament of Premature Children

  • Objectives: We aimed to compare preterm, neurodevelopmentally disordered and healthy full-term children. Methods: We enrolled 47 children who were born preterm, 40 neurodevelopmentally disordered children, and 80 healthy children as control participants, in order to assess the cognitive functioning and the risk of behavioral problems at the age of 5. Children were assessed using the Korean Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-4th edition (K-WPPSI-IV), the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), and the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI). Results: The mean K-WPPSI-IV score of the preterm group was $87.19{\pm}17.36$, which was significantly higher than that of the neurodevelopmental disorder group ($69.98{\pm}28.63$; p<0.001) but lower than that of the control group ($107.74{\pm}14.21$; p<0.001). The cumulative CBCL scores of the preterm children were not significantly different from those of the control group. Additionally, the TCI scores for reward dependence of the preterm children were higher than those of the control group. Conclusion: The cognitive performance of preterm infants was lower than that of healthy full-term infants at the age of 5, and there was an association between slower growth and decreased cognitive ability.

Food sources of zinc and nutritional status with usual dietary zinc intake in Korean toddlers and preschool children

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the food sources of zinc and the usual intake of dietary zinc among Korean toddlers and preschool children. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 2,679 children aged 1-5 years was selected from the 2009-2013 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) data. Dietary data collected from a single 24-h recall were used to evaluate the food sources of zinc. To estimate usual zinc intake, the distribution obtained from single 24-h recall data in the total sample was adjusted using the ratio of within-to-between-person variance in zinc intake obtained from 2-day 24-h recall sub-sample data of the 2009 KNHANES. The proportion of children with usual zinc intake below the estimated average requirement (EAR) and above the tolerable upper intake level (UL) was assessed. RESULTS: The main sources of zinc in Korean children were grains, dairy products, and meat. The mean usual intakes of zinc among all individuals, those aged 1-2 yrs, and those aged 3-5 yrs were 5.50, 5.01, and 5.83 mg/d, respectively. In all participants, 1.1% of the children consumed zinc below the EAR, whereas 10.7% exceeded the UL. The proportion of children with excessive zinc intake was 25.6% in the 1-2 yrs age group and 0.6% in the 3-5 yrs age group. CONCLUSIONS: According to the current UL, the risk of excessive zinc intake appears to be high among Korean toddlers. Future studies that monitor the health effects of excessive zinc intake are needed to appropriately guide zinc intake in children.

마산, 창원지역에서 아동들의 요충 감염 실태 연구 (The Egg Detection Rates of Enterobius Vermicularis among Preschool and School Children in Masan and Changwon Areas in Korea)

  • 목 적 : 최근에 생활 환경과 식생활의 수준 등이 향상되고 농경작의 현대화가 이루어지면 서 토양 매개성 기생충 질환(회충, 편충, 구충 등)은 크게 감소되었으나 사람이 유일한 숙주 인 요충의 감염은 쉽게 전파될 뿐만 아니라 재감염이 잘 되고 특히 소아에서 많이 감염된다 고 알려져 있다. 국내에서의 요충 감염율은 검사 시기, 대상, 지역에 따라서 차이는 있으나 1960~1980년대나 최근에 있어서나 높은 감염율을 나타내고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 마산, 창원과 인근 농촌지역에서 요충 감염율을 조사하고 치료에 대한 효과를 보기 위하여 실시하였다. 방 법 : 97년 11월 4째주와 12월 1번째 주에 마산시에 소재한 초등학교 1곳, 어린이집 2곳, 창원시에 소재 개인 소아과 의원1곳, 창녕군 남지읍에 소재한 초등학교 1곳을 선정하여 보호자들에게 설문지와 안내문, 검체 채취용 슬라이드를 나누어 주어 이른 아침, 첫 대변을 보기 전에 항문주위도말법(adhesive cellotape anal swab)으로 검체를 채취하도록 하였다. 수집한 검체는 경북대학교 의과대학 기생충학교실로 보내져 광학 현미경으로 충란의 유무를 확인하였다. 결 과 : 1) 전체 대상 아동 644명 중 17.7%인 114명에서 요충란이 발견되었으며 남녀의 비는 1:1.1로 나타났다. 2) 연령별 분포에서는 학동기전 아동이 145명중 29.0%인 42명, 학동기 아동은 499명중 14.4%인 72명에서 요충란이 발견되었으며 학동기전 아동들의 충란 검출율이 학동기 아동들 보다 통계적으로 의미 있게 높았다(p<0.05). 3) 도시와 농촌의 초등학교에서 감염율은 각각 15.2%, 13.7%로 나타나 차이가 없는 것으 로 나타났으며(p>0.05) 3학년 이하의 저학년일수록 감염율은 높았다(p<0.05). 4) 충란 검출율이 높았던 마산시 소재 한 어린이집에 수용되어 있는 아동과 가족, 종사자들에게 flubendazole 100mg을 3주 간격으로 2회 먹인 후 검사한 결과 치료전 41.0%의 검출 율을 보이다가 치료 후 6.0%로 떨어졌다. 결 론 : 요충의 감염 경로 및 전염력을 감안하면 어린이 집단에서 요충의 감염율은 상당히 높을 것이라고 사료되며 따라서 조속한 시일내에 요충 감염의 조사와 집단 치료가 필요할 것이라고 생각된다.

또래지위에 따른 아동의 자아지각 (Children's Peer Status and Self-Perception)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate children's self-perceptions of social competence in three different levels of peer status and to determine the degree of congruence between children's perceptions and teachers' ratings of social competence. The subjects were 46 bpys and 44 girls identified as popular neglected and rejected by peers in preschool and in first and second grades. A sociometric test was used to identify children's peer status. Children's self-perceptions were assessed by the social Competence Scale for Young Children and teachers' assessment of children's competence was collected by a rating scale. The data were analyzed by 3-way ANOVA 2-way MANOVA for repeated measures and pearson product-moment correlations. The results showed that children's self-perceptions of social competence were generally positive and not significantly different by peer status and grade level in three of the four domains. For the maternal acceptance domain the degree of acceptance perceived by neglected group decreased with grade while those of popular children increased. The degree of congruence between children's perceptions and teachers' ratings were different by peer status. Popular children's estimation of their social competence was more congruent with teachers but neglected and rejected children overestimated their competence.

구강보건교육을 통한 태백시 미취학 아동들의 구강건강관리 변화에 대한 연구 (THE STUDY OF CHANGES IN ORAL HEALTH CARE OF PRESCHOOLERS IN TAEBAEK CITY THROUGH ORAL HYGIENE EDUCATION)

  • 본 연구는 올바른 구강보건교육과 칫솔질 교육을 통해 아동들의 구강건강에 관한 관심을 증진시키고 구강관리법의 변화와 개선 정도를 알아보고 더 나아가 좀 더 효율적인 구강보건교육의 방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 강원도 태백시 보건소에서 2003년 4월 1일부터 12월 16일까지 구강보건교육에 참가한 631명의 미취학 아동들을 대상으로 시행하였다. 매회 약 20-30명 정도를 대상으로 약 30분 정도 시청각 자료를 이용한 치과의사의 직접설명과 아동들이 참여놀이를 이용하여 구강보건교육 후 칫솔질 교육과 불소 겔 도포를 시행하였으며, 불소도포 과정 중 대기하는 아동들은 구강보건교육 비디오를 시청하도록 하였다. 구강보건교육의 효과와 아동들의 구강 건강관리의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 하반기 교육 후 아동들의 부모와 선생님들을 대상으로 설문지를 작성하게 하고 그 결과를 수집, 분석하였다. 아동들은 보건소에서의 전문가 구강보건교육을 시행한 후 치아우식증에 대한 지식이 향상되었으며, 치과 치료에 대한 두려움이나 공포가 감소하는 변화가 있었다. 많은 아동들이 올바른 칫솔질 방법을 습득하였으며 칫솔질 횟수의 증가를 보였다. 또한 칫솔질에 대한 재미와 흥미를 유발하는 효과도 나타내었다. 아동들은 구강보건교육을 통해 치아에 좋은 음식과 해로운 음식을 구별 할 수 있는 능력을 가지게 되었고 미약하나마 식습관의 변화를 발견할 수 있었다. 본 조사를 통해 미취학 아동의 구강보건교육은 매우 실효성이 있는 것으로 판단되며 가정에서나 유치원, 치과에서의 구강보건교육의 확대가 요구된다.
