Intussusception primarily occurs in children and is uncommon in adults. Moreover, intussusception caused by intestinal tuberculosis is very rare. We report a case of intussusception induced by intestinal tuberculosis. A 53-year-old man presented to our hospital with complaints of cough and sputum for 2 weeks. We started anti-tuberculosis medication as the patient's sputum acid-fast staining was positive. After 4 days of treatment, the patient developed abdominal cramping pain. Imaging studies showed ileo-ileal type intussusception. The patient underwent segmental resection of the small bowel and intestinal tuberculosis was confirmed on histological examination. He recovered after surgery and was discharged on anti-tuberculosis medication.
Ibuprofen (IBU), is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, removal of fever and mild to moderate pain. Because of small dosage and very low accumulation in the body, IBU has been used to heal children's fever. However, IBU was very low solubility in a low pH and water (in water $0.03{\sim}2.5$ mg/ml). A nanoemulsion containing IBU by means of self-microemulsion drug delver system (SMEDDS) was prepared in order to enhance the solubility of IBU. The SMEDDS was composed of cosurfactant, oil and surfactant The solubility of IBU in various components such as cosurfactant, oil and surfactant was examined. $Carbitol^{\circledR}\;(386.99{\pm}20.5\;mg/ml)$ as a cosurfactant, $Labrafil^{\circledR}$ M1944CS $(90.16{\pm}1.60mg/ml)$ as an oil and $Cremopher^{\circledR}$ RH-40 $(239.01{\pm}2.8\;mg/ml)$ as a surfactant were used in this study for preparing SMEDDS. Optimized formulation of SMEDDS was obtained by phase diagram which express the section of nanoemulsion formation. The SMEDDS containing IBU had higher dissolution rate than conventional IBU sirups. Thus the SMEDDS was a potential candidate of stable conventional and effective oral dosage form for IBU.
Purpose : Eosinophilic granuloma is a rare benign tumor that is characterized histologically by the presence of destructive granulomas containing numerous Langerhans, cells. The most common presentation of eosinophilic granuloma is a painful, immobile scalp mass in the frontal and parietal bones occurring predominantly in children and adolescents or young adults. We report a representative case of eosinophilic granuloma. Methods : A 16-year-old woman complained of an enlarging fixed scalp mass without pain and tenderness which measured $3{\times}4.5cm$ at the frontal area, which had been found incidentally 2 months before. Plain skull x-ray showed a punched-out bone lesion. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed a non-enhancing osteolytic lesion. The tumor and surrounding bony edges were completely removed via a bicoronal approach. The bony defect was reconstructed with bone cement. Results : The tumor was involved frontal bone and dura mater. We confirmed the tumor by the documentation of Birbeck's granules by electron microscopy. There is no evidence of local recurrence during postoperative 1.5 years. Conclusion : The present case shows the characteristic feature of frontal bone involvment of the eosinophilic granuloma. The prognosis of eosinophilic granuloma depend on age at diagnosis and number of bones involved. We consider that best choice of treatment for eosinophilic granuloma is surgical excision.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of H1N1 pandemic in 2009. South Korea also had outbreaks of H1N1 virus and used oseltamivir in large volume with increased reports of adverse drug reaction(ADR). The present study was aimed to investigate the ADR frequency, the factors related to ADR, and characteristics of oseltamivir's ADR. Participants for the study were patients randomly drawn from those who were prescribed oseltamivir for treatment from CHA Bundang Medical Center during October 1 and October 30. The information examined as factors related to ADR were collected by a subsequent cross-sectional telephone survey. The factors are the following; a) age; b) gender; c) patient medical history; d) diagnosis of H1N1 virus; e) adherence; f) whether taking other medication with oseltamivir or not; and g) the number of combined medications. We also asked ADR after taking oseltamivir. Total subjects were 86 patients. The average age is $22.6{\pm}18.48$ years old. The gender was 45.3% women and 54.7% men. Half (50%) of all respondents showed one or more ADR, 67.4% were positively diagnosed for H1N1 virus, and 54.7% were completed the full course of oseltamivir (i.e. twice daily x 5days). The most frequently reported ADR symptoms were: dizziness (15.1%), nausea (11.6%), lethargy (10.4%), diarrhea (10.4%), abdominal pain (8.1%), headache and vomiting (6.9%). ADR classifications by categories are gastro intestinal (44.2%), neuropsychiatric events (22.1%), systemic symptom (20.9%), skin events (5.8%), eye events (4.7%), and other cases (2.3%). The onset of ADR 'after taking 1~3 doses' was 69.7%. No increase in neuropsychiatric events was detected in children and adolescents. No factors examined for the study do have significant influence on the presence of ADR. This study showed that ADR of oseltamivir have occurred in half of the patients. The use of oseltamivir is essential for treatment and prophylaxis of influenza A(H1N1). But mass treatment should be properly monitored for ADR.

Objective. The objective of this international comparative study was to investigate the clinical features and outcome of the treatment of infratemporal fossa abscess (IFA). Study design. This retrospective study was conducted at the Deptartment of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Hallym University and "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Ten-year records of patients were reviewed in Romania and six-year records were reviewed in Korea. The collected data was then analyzed. Results. A total of 36 cases were found to be IFA (12 males and 24 females: average age; $36.3{\pm}15.5$ yrs: 34 cases from Romania and 2 cases from Korea). The annual frequency of IFA in Romanian and Korean hospitals was 3.40 and 0.33 respectively (P<0.001). The etiology was septic anesthesia (33.3%), infection occurring after extraction (30.6%), periapical lesion (13.9%), impacted third molar (8.3%), post-extraction alveolitis (5.6%), and unknown (8.3%). A successful outcome was seen in 27 patients (75.0%) after initial treatment. The main complication after initial treatment was restricted movement of the mouth (9 cases). Conclusion. The etiology of IFA was various and minimal swelling hampered early diagnosis. To prevent IFA, preoperative painting with antiseptic agent must be stressed and proper drainage proved important to relieve pain and to prevent further complications.

Purpose: Hospice care represents all meaningful aspects of physical, mental and economical status of the end stage patients. The purpose of this study was to estimate the cost of home-based hospice care. Method: Fifteen nurses participated in counting an hour for requirement and home visit data of 50 end stage patients were analyzed. The method of to estimate the cost of home-based hospice care was three ways. Result: In case, including traffic expense, Singles fixed fee per visit via direct inquiry was 112,970 won but in case, excluding traffic expenses, was 86,036 won and traffic expenses per visit was 26,934 won. Final cost of home-based hospice care integrated the fixed fee per the needed time for visit and fee-for services. The fixed fee per 30 minutes was 35,251 won and 60 minutes was 46,595 won and 90 minutes was 57,939 won. We included pain management and the management of emergency and bereavement care among fee-for services. Conclusion: The cost of hospice care should be establish for not only patient but the living spouse, families, and children of the dying and for anyone else affected by any patient's death.
This study aims to provide evidence for supporting the families of people in prison, through understanding their families who have suffered for their imprisonment This research was conducted with seven family members with their spouse, son or daughter, or sibling in prison. The Giorigi's approach of analysis for the phenomenological qualitative research was used to explore the essence of the experiences of prisoners' families. This qualitative research drew five components on the basis of the experiences of prisoners' families : 'Living with the bridle named as the family of a prisoner', 'The pain having to hide from the public', 'Having ambivalence', and 'condemn the sin, but no the sinner', 'Picking oneself up'. The essential subjection of their experiences was interpreted into 'Face life, , with being under a yoke'. The findings suggest that the practical intervention of social welfare is needed to support the psychological, emotional, and social recovery of the prisoners' families.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between menopausal symptoms and spiritual well-being. In order to collect the research data, 350 questionaries were sent to the middle aged women who were 40-59 years old. During the collection period, March 20, 1977-April 20, 1977, 264 questionaries were collected. The questionnaire was prepared by using other researchers' scale, such as menopausal symptom scale by Neugarton and spiritual well-being scale by Paloutzian & Ellison. The research data were analyzed by various testable methods, such as frequency, t-test or ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation. The main results of this study were as follows ; Among the general characteristic variables, some variables have statistical significancy in explaining the difference of the menopausal symptoms. Such variables include age(F=5.17, p=0.002), years get married(F=4.23, p=0.002), number of children(F=3.08, p=0.028), income level of family(F=3.07, p=0.017), life style at leisure time(F=2.47, p=0.045). Some variables related to health condition could explain the differences of the menopausal symptoms among middle aged women. current menstruation stage(F=9.82, p=0.000), current health condition(F=9.82, p=0.000), and experience being operated in the past(F=9.82, p=0.000) are related to the menopausal symptoms. Serious menopausal symptoms which could be found in this study were 'back pain and joint pains(2.6)', nervousness(2.4), and psychosomatic symptom(1.97). Spiritual well-being inquiries could be classified into two subgroups, existential and religious. The mean score of existential well-being(3.04) was higher than that of religious well-being(2.76). Relatively higher existential well-being(3.10) was found in the women who have stable menstruation cycle. The age when the menopause began was related to spiritual well-being(F=3.29, p=0.046). The correlation between menopausal symptoms and spiritual well-being was statistically significant(r=-0.133, p=0.031). Based on the above results, nursing intervention program of menopausal symptoms is recommended in order to promote the health of middle-aged women.
Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze a trend in studies of hospice care in Korea and to suggest future research directions. Methods: This study analyzed a total of 183 studies related to hospice care which were found at http://www.riss.kr. Results: Of the 183 studies, 62 (33.9%) were for thesis studies for a degree, 121 (66.1%) for academic journals. There were 159 (87.8%) quantitative studies, 18 (8.9%) qualitative studies, and 6 (3.3%) Q-Method studies. The most frequently used study design was a descriptive study. The majority of study participants were terminal cancer patients, patients' family members and health care personnel. The thesis articles were searched by using key words as follows: health, nursing, environment, children's hospice, and others. Conclusion: The number of studies of hospice care has increased, and research key words varied. Furthermore, more experimental research is needed on nursing intervention such as pain relief, alternative therapies and hospice care for children.

The subjects of the study were the 120 mothers who had children hospitalized in 6 hospitals in P city during the period from Feb. 1. to May 30. 1996. The purpose of the study are(1) the problems encountered when they carried out Home Care after discharge and (2) the degrees of demand that they had against Home Care Services. In order to investigate the purposes above-mentioned the researchers used the 55 items of Home Care services belonging to 10 areas selected by Korea Home-Care Association in 1994. The items were modified and supplemented to 4-point scale. The selected data were analyzed by SPSS : PC+ and the following results were derived. 1. The subjects payed great attention to 5 items such as 'pain control, OPD visits, diet-control problems' among the 15 sources of anxiety that they had against Home Care services after discharge. Especially, 'OPD visits and knowledge deficit' would to be overcome by the nursing activities of the Home Care Nurses. 2. The acknowledge level of the subjects to the Home Care Project that governmental plans to carry out was surveyed and found as under 50. 0% responded they heard about Home Care Nursing System. 60.8% said that they thought the system was 'very necessary' and 'somewhat necessary'. 65.0% said they would like to use the system. However, the acknowledge level of 50.0% is still low and is thought to need further national promotion and propagation. 3. The demand of the subjects against 55 Home Care Services was investigated and found as
. 'Assessment, Lab, basic nursing technology, relay ' transfer, training ' education and curative nursing' showed comparatively high scores. However, the items belonging to pediatric Home Care Services such as 'umbilical cord care, breast-feeding, infant care, and post-partum care & loan of breast-pump' showed relatively low scores.
