Purpose: This study was done to identify sexual knowledge and perception and current status of sex education among parents of first and second grade elementary school age children. Methods: Participants in the study were recruited from parents with a child in the lower grades and who resided in Seoul. From January 1 to February 28, 2011, data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using McNemer test, paired t-test, ANONA, and Scheffe test. Results: Mean sexual knowledge scores for fathers and mothers were $27.74{\pm}4.94$, and $28.62{\pm}4.70$ respectively. Parent's sexual knowledge correlated with their occupation, education level, and family's monthly income. Conclusion: Study results showed that both parents are aware of the need for sex education. However, at home, mothers have a more active attitude towards sex education and conduct the education more often than fathers.
Purpose: This paper reports the results of a descriptive study that aims to identify the factors that affect the parental efficacy of mothers with preschoolers on child sexual education. Methods: Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected from 189 mothers who had preschoolers in four kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province from June to August, 2015. Results: The factors that had an effect on the parental efficacy of mothers with preschoolers on child sexual education were marital intimacy (${\beta}=.32$, p<.001), the degree of perceived sexual knowledge (${\beta}=.29$, p<.001), sexual education experience from one's parents (${\beta}=.21$, p=.001), and educational level (${\beta}=.14$, p=.021); the explanatory power was 28.9%. Conclusion: The factors affecting the parental efficacy of mothers with preschoolers on child sexual education were marital intimacy, subjective sexual knowledge, sexual education experience from one's parents, and the educational level. In developing a sex education program for mothers with preschoolers, it is necessary to reflect the contents that can enhance marital intimacy. In addition, it is necessary to develop a differentiated mother sex education program considering her demographic characteristics and career in sexual health.
The children of sex workers in Bangladesh are denied even the most basic human rights. This article is based on recent research focused on the children of sex workers in the context of their everyday lives. The study focused on access to education and how education could be a vehicle for them to break the vicious cycle of exploitation. This was a mixed method interpretative study which employed qualitative and quantitative approaches, but in this paper only qualitative data which was generated through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions is used. Data was collected from sex workers, their children, teachers and NGO workers who participated in the study. Information has been collected for analysing the expectation of the children of sex workers and hope for the future, and the opportunities available to them during their schooling. Thematic analysis technique was used to understand the challenges and barriers faced by the children of sex workers in fulfilling their educational aspirations. The lives of the children of sex workers are marginalised by the mainstream society. Though it is very difficult to break the vicious cycle of exploitation, this research finds that education may be a stepping stone for them to create a better future. However, it is argued that the children of sex workers need income generating vocational and technical education to enable them to earn and support their family. Policy recommendations have been made in order to achieve Education For All targets and Millennium Development Goals, and to provide a second chance for these vulnerable young people to have a better life.
Purpose: This study was conducted to understand sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes, and the perceptions and actualities of sex education among parents of elementary school children. Methods: This is a descriptive study with a sample size of 337. SPSS version 21.0 was used for data analysis, including descriptive analyses, the t-test, and Pearson correlation analysis. Results: More than 50% of the participants responded that primary sex education for young children should be the responsibility of the parents and that education should be stared during the elementary school period. A moderate correlation was found between parents' sexual knowledge and sexual attitudes (r=.44). Most parents were afraid to provide sex education because of their unfamiliarity with teaching methods and their lack of knowledge. However, 50 of the parents wanted to receive sex-related education. Conclusion: We found that parents would like to learn more about sex education from expert lectures or professional organizations. They were interested in topics including the sexual structure of males/females and sexual physiology. Open communication between parents and their children regarding sex-related issues is important. It is crucial to provide accurate and up-to-date sex education information to parents so that they can effectively teach their children at home.
The purpose of this research was to clarify the impact of sexual abuse experienced by female adolescents on depression and to examine mediation effects of distorted beliefs related to sex. Self-report questionnaires were distributed to middle and high school female students in Seouland Gyonggi Areas. The549responseswereanalyzedbyregressionanalysis. Results indicated that 22.2% of the respondents had experienced sexual abuse; the experience of sexual abuse had a significant effect on distorted sex-related belief, but not on depression. Distorted sex-related beliefs, however, mediated between the experience of sexual abuse and depression. This study suggests the necessity for intervention and practical methods for the prevention of adolescent sexual abuse.

It is very important for elementary school students in sixth grades who are reaching the age of puberty to acquire right knowledge and desirable attitude toward sex so that can overcome psychological instability caused by physical growth, be responsible for their behaviors and lead happy lives. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out the effects of sex educatin in the population of primary school students. The subjects of this study were 767 six-grades in one private and two public elementary school in Seoul. The research tool was a questionnairebased on a literature review. The sex education given to the subjects included 50 minutes lecture. The research methodology included data collection done before and the sex education was given to the subjects, to assess their knowledge of, and attitude toward sex, one week later after the sex education was given to assess change in knowledge of, and attitude to, sex. The data was analyzed through pc-SAS program. real numbers, percentage, 1-test, and ANOVA were utilized. The results of this study are as follows : 1. After sex education, the score of sixth grade elementary students’ sex knowledge was higher than before(t=11.92, p=0.0001) 2. After sex education, the score of sixth grade elementary students’ sex attitude was higher than before (t=2.08, p=0.0373). From the above findings, it can be said that sex education given to the children reaching the age of puberty significantly influences their knowledge of, and attitude toward. The subjects of this study were 120 children from an elementary school in Seoul. There were 40 subjects (20 males and 20 females) in each of three age groups: 8-, 10-, and 12- year-olds. The subjects were interviewed individually using Damon's(1977) open-ended questions concerning family rules. Responses to the assessment questions were coded as positive or negative, and responses to the judgement concept questions were coded into 6 levels. Statistical analysis of obtained data was by percentage, Spearman correlation using an ordinal scale, two-way analysis of variance, and Duncan test. The results showed that (1) the developmental levels of parental authority concepts established by Damon conformed to an ordinal scale, and (2) the development of parental authority concepts was related to child's age but not to child's sex.
