This paper aims to identify the characteristics and the current situation of the architectural characteristics, children's characters using facilities, and status of management and utilization by surveying 'Day Service for Children' in Tokyo-do. First, About the status of management and utilization, 'Day Service for Children' is operated by a local government, NPO corporate group and social welfare corporate. There are not big differences of the care program or running hours depending on operating principals but there are differences depending on staff organization, number of children and space constitution. Also, infants ratio at 'Day Service for Children' is high for the purpose of detecting disability early and supporting their development early. They have diverse disabilities but developmental disabilities' ratios high and most children are using both this facility and normal nursery centers together. Samples for proper child care based on status of space constitutions were installing lock, raising door knobs and using softer floor materials which are for children's safety. For the problem of space utilization, most comments were about lack of space which is not enough for teaching and training materials. Therefore, as an example, observation rooms for parents and teachers were sometimes used as storages and it changes teachers' moving direction, staying area and behavior zone. The programs of 'Day Service for Children' are divided to group teaching and private one. It will be the best if they have separate spaces such as group class room, private class room and play room. When they were operated by NPO corporate group or Social welfare corporate, there are many cases that their space was not properly zoned for each activity.
This study aims to investigate the changes of their recognition and childcare practices before and after the training for disability awareness targeting class teachers in inclusive childcare setting. Subjects of this study were 9 teachers and the data was collected from 3 focus group (3 persons per group) and personal interviews in case of study needs. The results of this study are as follows: childcare teachers appealed ignorance and fear of children with disabilities before learning to improve their disability awareness, and have learned from the non-prejudiced attitudes of non-disabled children. The need for understanding and knowledge of children with disabilities was high, and they voluntarily and actively participated in the education for the improvement of disability awareness. Since participating in education, teachers have shown changes in perceptions of children with disabilities and changes in the way they practice childcare for disabled children. As regards cognition, teachers have become more interested in and understanding of children with disabilities and have tried to treat them equally with non-disabled children. Regarding the practice of childcare, they practiced the integrated program together with the non-disabled child and the disabled child through cooperative partnership. They also provided the disability awareness education to the non-disabled children and provided the partial integrated childcare program flexibly in one class according to the situation. The results of this study were analyzed and discussed about the general childcare teachers' experience related to the education for improving disability recognition and caring at childcare setting.

Objective : This study was conducted to investigate the stress, anxiety, depression, and quality of life that parents of children with disabilities have according to their general characteristics and determine the correlation between stress, anxiety, depression, and quality of life. Methods : The subjects were 242 parents of children with disabilities under the age of 13 receiving treatment at rehabilitation centers for the disabled, rehabilitation hospitals, and child development centers located in D, B, and U metropolitan cities. Results : According to the result of analyzing the correlation between stress, anxiety, and depression that the parents of children with disabilities felt and the quality of their lives, the quality of their lives correlated negative with their stress, anxiety, and depression. In the case of the results according to the parents' general characteristics, stress showed a significant difference depending on the education level, monthly income, and anxiety showed a significant difference depending on child rearing time, occupation, and public transportation. Additionally, depression and the quality of life had a significant difference depending on child rearing time, education level, occupation, and monthly income. Conclusion : The results of this study identified the importance of the mental health of the parents of children with disabilities and the correlation between their mental health and quality of life. Social distancing and quarantine rules that children with disabilities must follow have limited their opportunities to receive education and treatment, so the influence of stress, anxiety, depression that the parents of children with disabilities who should continue to take care of their children should be considered. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop support services for the parents of children with disabilities for enhancement in their mental health in preparation for other disasters in the future.
Purpose: Purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing wellness, and provide basic data for development of intervention programs to improve wellness in mothers of children with disabilities. Methods: Participants were 147 mothers of children with disabilities from an elementary school and kindergarten for children with disabilities located in J and C cities in G province. Data were collected from February 24 to April 24, 2015 using questionnaires. Results: Mean scores were $3.24{\pm}0.38$ of 5 for wellness, $2.40{\pm}0.41$ of 4 for self-esteem, and $2.87{\pm}0.36$ of 4 for family function. There were significant differences in wellness according to religion, education, and type of education program for the children. There were positive correlations between self-esteem, family function, social support, and wellness. Factors influencing wellness were selfesteem (${\beta}$ =.450), family function (${\beta}$ =.313), type of education program for the children (${\beta}$ =.140), and religion (${\beta}$ =.127). These factors explained 42.7% of the variance in wellness. Conclusion: Findings show that levels of wellness in these mothers are not sufficient to allow them to care for their children and to maintain their own overall health. Therefore to increase wellness of mothers of children with disabilities, intervention strategies that focus on improving self-esteem and family functioning need to be developed.
The purpose of this study was to explore the parenting experiences of mothers of disabled children. The study focused on how mothers of disabled children prepared for their children's transition to elementary school and how they experienced their children's adjustment to school. Twenty mothers of children with developmental or intellectual disabilities participated in the study. Each mother had experienced an inclusive education program at an elementary school for more than a year. Twelve mothers have children with intellectual disabilities and eight have children with developmental disabilities. Individual in-depth interviews were carried out to collect qualitative data. To analyze the data, the research followed the phenomenological analysis method of Giorgi. The results showed that mothers of disabled children were actively involved with inclusive day care centers and therapy programs to prepare for children elementary school. Most wished to send their children to a general elementary school with an inclusive program, although decision making was not easy. When their children entered elementary school, some mothers observed their children's struggle with school and their peer relationships. They sought support from teachers and other mothers. These mothers showed a desire for their children's social independence. This study highlighted the necessity to develop support programs for disabled children and their mothers.
The purpose of this study to know the effects of craft programmes on the visual perceptual development of the children with developmental disabilities. Sixty children were diagnosed with developmental disabilities. They divided into two groups that were the experimental group and control group. The children were subjected at K-Rehabilitation Center and C-child Care Center in Gyeong-Ju for 6 weeks from Feb to Apr (twice a seek, total 12 times) in 2011. The development programmes for the children disabilities are based on occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The intervention of experimental group included occupational therapy based on the craft programmes, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The one of control group included occupational therapy based on function, physical therapy, and speech therapy. The MVPT-3 and K-DTVP-2 were done before and after the therapy to compare visual perceptual development ability and to know the results of the test. Results were as follow: First, there were significant differences of MVPT-3 score before and after the therapy. Second, there were significant differences of K-DTVP-2 score before and after the therapy. The results mean the craft programmes had a positive effect on the visual perceptual development of the children with developmental disabilities.
The purpose of this study is to understand the physical accessibility of the child care centers for disabled children in Japan. Fifteen centers located in Tokyo, Japan were surveyed through sketching, measuring, taking pictures, and observation. To understand the user's needs. the directors of the centers were interviewed. As a result,the followings suggestions were proposed. First, when the entrance of the center is close to the road, careful design for the entrance area is required to secure the safety of children using wheelchairs. If possible, a fence or door between the corridor and entrance is necessary. Second, most aspects of accessibility are pretty well designed. But a canopy over the entrance area is required to escape the rain. Third, a wider corridor space is desirable for storing and driving wheelchairs and for special equipment for the disabled. Forth, because the emergency exits were installed but not used, the new and safer emergency exits should be installed. These results will be a good case reference for developing Korean design guidelines for the children with disabilities.

The purpose of this study is to understand and describe in depth the meaning of parenting experiences of mothers with children with developmental disabilities through phenomenological methods. Participants of this study were selected by convenience sampling 11 mothers who were taking care of children with developmental disabilities who were being treated at the Welfare Center for the Disabled in C city. Data were collected from February to April, 2018 by using in-depth interview and tape-recording. The interview data were analyzed by the phenomenological analysis method of Giorgi. As the result of analysis, the following seven constituents were emerged; Regreting to delay the uncertain diagnosis, Difficulty in accommodating children with disabilities, Unbearable gaze around, Family disagreements due to children with disabilities, Adopting and dedicated to child care for disabled childre, Tiring of raising children with disabilities, Accepting children with disabilities. In conclusion, the parenting attitude of mother with developmental disability is influenced not only by the children with developmental disabilities but also by the social contact opportunities of daily life and interpersonal relationship including mothers' emotional stability and social isolation, It is considered that medical and welfare should be systematically introduced for physical, psychological and emotional support for mothers.
The necessity of universal design for forestry is increasing. Although several studies applied universal design in forest site, they had been only concentrated on the barrier-free design for the limited activities rather than overall utilization for considering all visitors from the disabled, the elderly and the infirm to the baby and child. The purpose of this study is to find out the principle of the universal design within forest welfare service facilities by analysing how socially disadvantaged people perceive overall usage of natural recreation forest area. This study figures out the main principles of universal design in forest welfare through analyzing usage of children and disabilities in Yumyeongsan natural recreation forest where is one of the popular type of forest welfare area. By doing focus interviews targeted on children and disabilities, the results are analyzed through semantic network analysis, objectively. The result proves that universal design in forest welfare area contains four principles; convenience, safety, diversity and amenity. Also it confirmed that disabilities need better internal space facilities and priority care. Through those characters of universal design, forest area will be able to cover more various type of users as forest welfare area.
This study is to examine the metaphor of pre-service early childhood teachers for the children with disabilities through the disability studies perspective. For this purpose, 213 pre-service early childhood teachers who were the students of universities in Busan and Gyeongnam area were selected as target objects, and data were collected from Sep. 15 to 29, 2015. The collected data were categorized and quantified based on the systematic metaphor analysis. As a result, the metaphor for the children with disabilities of pre-service early childhood teachers were categorized into 4 types such as medicine-limit type, medicine-diversity type, society-limit type and society-diversity. The result of this study would be utilized as basic data required for consideration with regard to the direction of integrated education and for increasing the professional speciality of teachers who perform the integrated education in the training course for pre-service early childhood teachers.
