To prepare alkaline degreasing agents(SADAs), tetrasodium pyrophosphate(TSPP), $Na_2CO_3$, Tetronix T-701 (T-701), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate(303C), Demol C, and MJU-100A were blended. The prepared degreasing agents were tested with steel specimens and the results were as follows. The degreasing powers of SADA-6($Na_2CO_3$ 50g/TSPP 25g/T-701 10g/303C 15g/Demol C 12g/MJU-100A 8g/water 130g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil were 98% and 99% degreasing at 4wt%, 70 $^{\circ}C$ and 90 $^{\circ}C$, respectively; for quenching oil, the degreasing power of SADA-6 was 92% degreasing at 4wt% and 70 $^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was proved that the SADA-6 exhibits a good degreasing power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 6wt% and 60 $^{\circ}C$ were 16mm and 40mm, respectively. SADA-6 was proved a good low foaming degreasing agent.
To increase the properties of EVA foam such as tensile strength, rebound resilience, and compression set, ethylene-1-butene copolymer (EtBC) was blended with EVA. After that crosslink characteristics of the blends and cell structures and mechanical properties of the foam were studied. As the amount of EtBC increased in EVA/EtBC blends, torque values of oscillating disc rheometer(ODR) increased and the foaming ratio decreased because the viscosity and crosslink density of EVA/EtBC blends increased. Foaming ratio and cell size of the foam increased by increasing the amount of foaming agent. When compared the mechanical properties of the foam which have same densities, tensile strength, rebound resilience, and compression set properties of the foam were improved by increasing the amount of EtBC in the EVA/EtBC blends.
The flame retarded NBR foams were prepared with metal hydroxides and various phosphorus/nitrogen-contain ing flame retardants. The dependency of the phosphorus content on thermal properties, flame retardancy, smoke density, and foaming properties were investigated in the foams. Foaming properties and morphology of the flame retarded NBR foams with P/N flame retardants( ${\le}10 phr$) were similar to those of the foams without P/N ones but containing metal hydroxides The flame retardancy of the foams was improved with increasing the phosphorus content and char formation under combustion atmosphere. The cone-calorimeter test and LOI index were also coincided with the TGA analysis quite well. The heat release rate (HRR), total heat release (THR), and effective heat of combustion (EHC) were decreased, whereas the carbon monoxide yield was increased with increase of the phosphorus content of P/N flame retardant. The smoke density values were closely related with CO yield values obtained by the cone-calorimeter test due to the high and hard char formation.
A new concept of an inorganic foaming process at low temperature was demonstrated for the production of inorganic thermal insulating materials with the properties of flexible light-weight, the advantages of organic-based thermal insulation material. The foaming process was proceeded by establishing a skeleton of the foam body by using inorganic fibrous sepiolite and aluminum silicate. A cavity was formed by the expansion of fibrous skeleton body, by the gas which was generated from foaming agent at low temperature. Then the multi-vesicular expanded perlite with low thermal conductivity was filled into the cavity in a skeleton of the foam body. Finally through these overall process, a new inorganic foamed body could be obtained at low temperature without the hot melting of inorganic materials. In order to achieve this object, various preparations such as fibrous sepiolite fibrillation process, heat treatment process of the fibrous slurry were needed, and the optimal compositional condition of slurry was required. The foam body produced showed the properties of flexible light-weight thermal insulation materials such as bulk density, yield strength, flexural strength, and high heat resistance.
Surface activities including CMC, surface tension, foaming power etc. of the rhamnolipid (RL), a biosurfactant fermented by microorganism were investigated. Both the RL and liquid detergent contained RL showed a good surface activity. For the detergency test, the liquid detergent with RL showed a slightly better performance than that of using an fatty acid. However for the foaming profile, the liquid detergent with RL exhibited a lot of foam volume and the suppression of the rinsing and foaming during rinsing cycles with the RL was not seen. Therefore it can be concluded that RL can be used as a main surfactant or co-surfactant in liquid detergents without functions of foaming suppression or rinse-aid.
In this study, natural emulsifiers were extracted from Medicago sativa L. and Sapindus saponaria L. The extraction yield using CCD-RSM and the extraction process of foaming stability of the extracted product were optimized and 95% confidence interval was used to confirm the statistical reasonableness of the optimization. Herein, independent parameters were the ethanol volume and extraction temperature, whereas reaction parameters were the extraction yield and foaming stability. Under the condition of 53.5 vol% ethanol and extraction temperature (70.9 ℃), the maximum yield and foaming stability of the extracted product from Medicago sativa L were predicted as 26.2 wt% and 44.5%, respectively. In the case of the extraction from Sapindus saponaria L, the maximum yield and foaming stability were expected to be 31.9 wt% and 47.5% under the optimized conditions including 60.4 vol% of ethanol and extraction temperature (72.4 ℃). The average experimental error for validating the accuracy was about 3.4(± 0.3)% and 5.0(± 0.04)% for the extraction processes from Medicago sativa L. and Sapindus saponaria L., respectively.

Alkaline cleaning agent(ACA) was prepared by blending of POE(4)octadecylmine(S-204), $Na_2CO_3$, sodium orthosilicate(Na-OSi). Tetronix T-701(T-701), and MJU-100A. The physical properties of ACA tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of ACA-6(S-204 80g/$Na_2CO_3$, 160g/Na-OSi, 80g/T-701, 60g/MJU-100A, 20g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 2wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively : for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was ascertained that ACA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 3wt%. $60^{\circ}C$ were 17mm and 40mm, respectively. As the result, ACA-6 was proved a good low foaming cleaning agent.

Silicone foam is very useful as flame resistant material for many industrial areas such as high performance gasketing, thermal shielding, vibration mounts, and press pads. A silicone foam was prepared through simultaneous crosslinking and foaming by hydrogen condensation reaction of a vinyl-containing polysiloxane (V-silicone) and a hydroxyl-containing polysiloxane (OH-silicone) with hydride containing polysiloxane (H-silicone) in the presence of platinum catalyst and imorganic filler at room temperature. This is more convenient process for silicone foam manufacturing than the conventional separated crosslinking and foaming systems. Funtionalized silicones we used in this experiment were consisted with a V-silicone containing 1,0 meq/g of vinyl groups and a viscosity of 20 Pa-s, an OH-silicone with 0.4 meq/g of hydroxyl groups and a viscosity from 50 Pa-s, and an H-silicone containing 7.5 meq/g of hydride groups and a viscosity of 0.06 Pa.s. The effects of compositions of functionalized silicones and additives, such as catalyst and filler on the structure and mechanical properties of silicone foam were studied. 0.5 wt% of Pt catalyst was enough to accelerate the foaming rate of silicone resins. The addition of OH-silicone with lower viscosity accelerates the initial foaming rate and decreases the foam density, but the addition of V-silicone with lower viscosity reduces the tensile strength as well as the elongation. The final foam density, tensile strength, and elogation of silicone foam prepared under the SF-3 condition increase maximum to $0.58g/cm^3$, $3,51kg_f/cm^2$, and 176 %, repectively. We found out the filler alumina also played an important role to improve the mechanical properties of silicone foams in our foaming system.
Exopolysaccharide produced by the yeast Papiliotrema flavescens, isolated from wine grape berries of Champagne vineyard, was investigated for both chemical and functional characterization. SECMALLS and colorimetric assay analyses showed that the EPS is a high MW heteropolymer (2.37 × 106 g/mol) majorily consisting of mannose, glucose, xylose and glucuronic acid as monosaccharide constituents, with two substituents (sulphate and phosphate groups), and a minor protein moiety. Structural enchainment of these carbohydrates based on methylation, GC-MS and NMR analyses revealed a linear main backbone built up of α-(1 → 3)-D-mannopyranosyl residues on which are branched side chains consisting of a single β-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid residue and β-(1 → 2)-xylopyranoses (2-5 residues). Suggestion of some xylopyranose side chains containing a mannose residue at the nonreducing terminal end was also proposed. This is first report on EPSs from the grape P. flavescens yeast with such structural characteristics. Furthermore, investigations for valuating the application performance of these EPS in relation with their structural features were carried out in 8% alcohol experiment solutions. Very exceptional viscosifying and foaming properties were reported by comparison with commercial biopolymers such as Arabic, gellan and xanthan gums. The intrinsic properties of the natural biopolymer from this wild grape-associated P. flavescens yeast make it a potential candidate for use in various biotechnology applications.
The improvement of flame retardancy of the foams based on NBR/GTR compounds was conducted by formulating various materials i.e. NBR, GTR, inorganic and phosphorus containing flame retardants, foaming agent, cross-linking agent and activator. The foaming properties, morphology, smoke density and flame retardancy of the specimens were investigated using SEM, LOI tester, smoke density control system and cone calorimeter. The phosphorus containing flame retardant reduces heat release rate, increases the limiting oxygen index and a char formation. The inorganic flame retardant increases the limiting oxygen index and reduces heat release rate with an increased CO yield by char formation, and smoke suppressing effect. The formed char seemed to intercept the oxygen transport and heat transfer into the core area. When the composition ratios of the compounds of NBR/GTR were $100{\sim}80/0{\sim}20 wt.%$, and the ratios of the rubbers/flame retardants were $1/1.55{\sim}3.60 wt.%$, we could developed foams with low heat release rate, high limiting oxygen index($28.0{\sim}39.3$), closed or semi-closed cell of uniformity and reasonable expandability($225{\sim}250 %$).
