친환경 설계를 위한 하수처리수 재이용시설의 전과정 평가 (Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Eco-Design in a Wastewater Reuse Facility)

  • 제품의 제조, 사용, 폐기 등 전과정에서 발생되는 환경부하를 평가하기 위해 국제표준화기구(ISO)에서 채택한 전과정평가(LCA)는 개별 제품뿐만 아니라 건축물이나 사회기반시설과 같은 복잡한 시스템으로 광범위하게 적용되고 있다. 하수처리수 재이용시설에 LCA를 도입하는 것은 수질오염물질의 처리뿐만 아니라 이와 관련한 다른 여러 활동의 상호 작용을 포함한 전체적인 시스템을 파악할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구는 전과정 평가기법을 적용하여 하수처리수 재이용시설에 대한 전과정 영향평가를 수행하였다. 전과정 영향평가의 결과, 수계생태독성이 88.3%로 가장 큰 환경부하를 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, 전과정에서 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 단계는 운영 및 유지관리단계로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 종합적인 환경부하를 정량화함으로서 환경정책 수립자에게 환경 개선의 기회를 규명할 수 있는 정보를 제공해 줄 수 있으며, 건설 초기단계에서 친환경적인 설계를 위한 의사결정시 판단자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Fluoroplastics have been used widely for chemical or electrical facility materials and lubricable engineering structural materials because they have the superior characteristics such as thermal stability, chemical stability, solid lubricity, arc resistance, wearable durability and good sealing property. In this study, PTFE composite materials for the insolation parts of high voltage and current breaker were investigated and estimated.

  • Twenty organic chemical substances(Table 2) were isolated from untreated wastewater, as well as treated wastewater, collected at 76 companys of 9 industry group located in the basin of Youngsan River. Those organic compounds were analyzed by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry(GC/MS) and confirmed through comparison with each standard reagents. Phenol, which was not detected in the raw wastewater, was identified in the effluent of treatment facility, indicating that phenol is generated from isopropylbenzene of plant wastewater.

  • 본 연구에서는 안관관리 대책을 수립하기 위해 가장 빈번하게 발생하는 염산 화학사고 사례를 분석하였다. 최근 4년 동안 28건이 발생하였고, 이 중 8건의 인명사고가 발생한 것으로 나타나 사고를 줄이기 위한 효과적인 대책이 필요하다. 이를 위해, 통계분석을 통해 시설관리 측면, 안전의식 측면, 안전관리 시스템 측면에서 문제점과 대책을 제시하였다. 사업장은 세 가지 대책을 이행하기 위해 단기 중기 장기 계획을 세워 적절히 이행하는 것이 중요할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Oil sands are a mixture of sand, clay, and a high-viscosity petroleum called bitumen. Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) is the most viable and environmentally safe recovery technology for extracting bitumen. It extracts the viscosity-lowered bitumen by high pressure, high temperature steam injected into the bitumen reservoir. The steam is produced at the Central Processing Facility (CPF). Typically, more than 90% of the energy consumed in producing bitumen are used to generate the steam. Fuels are employed in the process, which cause economic and environmental problems. This paper explores the retrofit of heat exchanger network to reduce the usage of hot and cold utilities. The hot and cold utilities are reduced respectively 6% and 37.3% which in turn resulted in 5.3% saving of total annual cost by improving the existing heat exchanger network of the CPF.

First detection of a G1-like H9N2 virus in Russia, 2018

  • Worldwide, avian influenza H9N2 viruses of different lineages are the most widespread viruses in poultry. However, to date, cases in Russia have not been documented. In this study, we report the first detection of a G1-like H9N2 virus from poultry sampled at live-bird markets in Russia (Far East region) during the winter of 2018 (isolate A/chicken/Amur_Russia/17/2018). We assume there has been further circulation of the A/chicken/Amur_Russia/17/2018 H9N2 virus in the Russian Far East with possible distribution to other regions or countries in 2018-2019.

생물난분해성 유기물질 함유 폐수처리를 위한 Fenton 산화법의 효율적 적용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Efficient Applicability of Fenton Oxidation for the Wastewater Containing Non-biodegradable Organics)

  • This research is about wastewater containing non-biodegradable TDI(Toluene Diisocyanate) that is treated by the activated carbon adsorption method. In the case of the Fenton oxidation process being applied to the existing process, optimal pH, reaction time, chemical dosing amount, removal rate, and cost were investigated. A pilot plant test was applied after finding optimal conditions with lab experiments. The optimal conditions were pH 3~5(COD removal rate 84~88%) and reaction time 30min~1hr. In higher $H_2O_2$ dosing amount, COD removal rate was a little higher. But there was little difference in the removal rate according to $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ dosing amount. Treatment cost was economical in the case of the Fenton oxidation process being operated earlier than activated carbon adsorption system. But chemical dosing point, chemical mixing effect, chemical dosing amount, removal rate, and the cost of facility and others must be considered in practical process.
