The cleft lip and palate charity operation team visited Binh Duong General Hospital in Vietnam from 17th Dec to 25th Dec 2004. Total 25 cleft lip and palate patients (male : female = 15:10) were undergone the operation. The mean age of the patients was 13.6 year. The types of surgical operation were primary cheilorrhaphy (8 cases), primary palatorrhaphy(10 cases), pharyngoplasty(2 cases), scar revision(3 cases), alveolorrhaphy(2 cases). There were no intraoperative and immediate postoperative complications. The year 2004 was the 10th charity operation in the same area so it is meaningful to review the start of this charity mission and the course, and the future of our activity.

세계가 점점 더 통합됨에 따라 자선단체는 국내 문제 뿐만 아니라 빈곤, 기근, 자연 재해 등 세계 전역에서 일어나는 문제들을 다루게 되었다. 국제적으로 많은 조직들이 도움을 제공하고 이러한 문제들을 완화시키기 위해 노력하고 있지만, Jusoor, Karam Foundation, Save the Children, 그리고 Oxfam 등 대부분의 자선단체들이 서구사회에 기초하고 있다. 이 논문은 동양과 서양 두 지역 사이에 기부 문화 불균형이 존재하는 이유를 분석한다. 이 논문은 지역적 차이를 설명하면서 자선 재단에 대한 아시아인들의 뿌리 깊은 불신과 아시아에서의 자선 기부를 장려하는 정부 정책의 부재, 그리고 추세를 형성하는 다른 여러 사회적, 경제적, 정치적 요인에 특히 초점을 맞추고 있다. 아시아가 세계의 다른 지역에 비해 자선 문화에서 왜, 그리고 얼마나 크게 뒤처지는지를 분석한 결과, 이 논문은 아시아 자선 시장에 "창조적 파괴"가 필요하다는 것을 증명한다. 더 나아가 이 논문은 혁신적인 신생 기업이 새로운 형태의 기술, 즉 등록 파트너쉽 기반을 갖춘 접근하기 쉬운 애플리케이션을 도입하여 정기적으로 앱 사용자들의 기부금 사용처와 금액을 업데이트함으로써 아시아 자선 사업의 신뢰도를 높일 수 있다고 제안한다. 이러한 새로운 형태의 기술은 아시아의 자선 문화를 둘러싼 다른 문제들을 다루는 데 또한 도움이 될 것이다.

본 연구는 비영리단체에 기부를 하는 소비자들의 자선충동의 동기가 심리적 성과에 미치는 영향을 탐색적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 자기결정성 이론에 근거한 비영리 단체에 대한 자선충동 동기가 소비자-비영리단체 간의 동일시를 매개변수로 하여 기부충성도에 영향을 미치는 요인임을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 기부자들이 비영리단체에 대한 심리적 측면에서의 자선충동 동기에 관한 연구가 전무한 실정에서 자선모금기관이 재원을 확보할 수 있는 효과적인 마케팅 전략을 구축하는데 기초자료를 제공하며 소비자들의 자선충동 동기에 대해 탐색하는 최초의 연구로서 중요한 의의를 가진다.

Why do religions emphasize good deeds like charity or love? What kind of relation are there between good deeds and salvation? Early Buddhism stresses that the deed of mortal cannot escape retribution. And deeds are intentional act, so those are representation of mind. Therefore an issue of mind raises its head before action. The extinction of ignorance and thirsty gives rise to good mind, and the good mind produces good deed. Mahāyāna Buddhism accentuates charity. It signifies that the mind of oneself sympathizes the mind of others. That is impossible unless one throws away attachment to oneself. The alms deed makes that possible. In Roman Catholicism Ten Commandments assert absolute worship to god. The transcendental merits devaluate worldly ones, so the mind can obtain calmness. Protestant claims the one can acquire salvation only by faith. And the salvation leads human to good deed. In conclusion good deeds are not ways and means to mokṣa or grace, but identical with them in Early Buddhism and Mahāyāna Buddhism, and Roman Catholicism and Protestant.

이 연구는 일본 최고(最古) 사회복지 전문지인 "월간복지"를 자료삼아 "일본에서의 '사회복지'는 용어상 어떤 상황에서 무슨 내용으로 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화가 상호작용하며 변천했는가?"라는 연구문제를 사회사 관점으로 규명하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이 잡지의 이름에 따라 "자선", "사회와구제", "사회사업", "후생문제", 속 "사회사업", "월간복지"여섯 시기로 구분하여 '엄중한 자혜구제 선언', '구제사업과 사회사업가', '사회사업의 전문성과 과학성', '국민생활 재건과 후생시설의 지역화', '생활보호와 사회사업의 새 얼굴', '지역사회조직활동과 모금활동' 따위의 주제를 이끌어내어 해석하였다. 특별히 일본에서는 사회사업이 Social Work의 번역어 이외에도 여러 사업을 포괄하는 총괄어로 사용되고 있음을 밝혔고, 한국에서도 이와 같은 용례의 전개과정에 관한 연구가 필요함을 강조하였다.

The purpose of this study was to review university students' attitudes towards value-based consumption and their influences on it to the types of LOHAS lifestyle. The statistical analysis was based on a questionnaire survey by 275 subjects. Several attitude variables included in the study such as 'attitudes toward LOHAS lifestyle', 'environment', 'charity', 'need of business ethics', 'investment into socially responsible business', and 'good consumption'. By the results of the study, first, students' attitudes and concerns about the environment were positive, however, not expanded to the absolutely positive attitudes for their future society. Second, there is no clear relationship between their participation in the community and their attitudes to the LOHAS lifestyle. Third, university students' consumption was not based on the values of LOHAS, but on the attitudes to their own well-being. Fourth, groups with lower income and with no religious tendency revealed more positive attitudes toward LOHAS lifestyle than other groups. Fifth, there are some relations between LOHAS lifestyle and the individual's economic role performances such as the attitudes to 'environment', 'charity', 'need of business ethics,' 'investment into socially responsible business', and 'good consumption'.

From 2001 year, our department has been participated medical charity for cleft lip and palate patients with Japanese team, on general hospital of Quang Nam Province in Tamky, Vietnam. Also we started medical service with student volunteer in Hue University Hospital, sisterhood relationship with Chonbuk National University, from 2006. The central area of Vietnam is a hard fought-field during the Vietnam war, many chemical weapons (defoliant etc.) were used during war. As the mountain region lose currency, this area was still retarded. We would like to introduce the medical charity service of our department and the classification of operated patients and performed operation.

Il Woong Cleft lip and palate foundation was founded in 1968 by Professor emeritus Byoung-Il Min. Since then the foundation has operated numerous cleft lip and palate patients not only in Korea but also in under-developed countries such as Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. In December 2005, the foundation was allowed as an incorporated association by Ministry of Foreign affairs and Trade, so that it could have official status. From March 6th 2009 to March 14th 2009, we conductp,d charity cleft lip and palate operations of 23 patients in areas of Deozhou, China. Hereby we present the results of operations.
