A self-charging supercapacitor is constructed through simple integration of the energy storage and photo exited materials at the photo electrode. The large band gap of $NiO/Fe_3O_4$ heterostructure generates photo electron at the photo electrode and store the charges through redox mechanism at the counter electrode. Sulfanilic acid azocromotrop/reduced graphene oxide layer at the photo electrode trapped the photo generated hole and store the charge by forming double layer. The solar supercapacitor device is charged within 400 s up to 0.5 V and exhibited a high specific capacitance of ~908 F/g against 1.5 A/g load. The solar illuminated supercapacitor shows a high energy and power density of 33.4 Wh/kg and 385 W/kg along with a very low relaxation time of ~15 ms ensuring the utility of the self charging device in the various field of energy storage and optoelectronic application.

Lithium-ion batteries have a small volume, light weight and high energy density, maximizing the utilization of mobile devices. It is widely used for various purposes such as electric bicycles and scooters (e-Mobility), mass energy storage (ESS), and electric and hybrid vehicles. To date, lithium-ion batteries have grown to focus on increasing energy density and reducing production costs in line with the required capacity. However, the research and development level of lithium-ion batteries seems to have reached the limit in terms of energy density. In addition, the charging time is an important factor for using lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, it was urgent to develop a high-speed charger to shorten the charging time. In this thesis, a discharger was fabricated to evaluate the capacity and characteristics of Li-ion battery pack which can be used for e-mobility. To achieve this, a smart discharger is designed with a combination of active load, current sensor, and temperature sensor. To carry out this thesis, an active load switching using sensor control circuit, signal processing circuit, and FET was designed and manufactured as hardware with the characteristics of active discharger. And as software for controlling the hardware of the active discharger, a Raspberry Pi control device and a touch screen program were designed. The developed discharger is designed to change the 600W capacity battery in the form of active load.

The structural and electrical characteristics of PLZT thin films fabricated onto $Pt/IrO_2/Ir/Ti/SiO_2/Si$ substrates by a pulsed laser deposition were investigated to develop the high dielectric thin films for capacitor layer of semiconductor memory devices The slim region 14/50/50 PLZT thin films were fabricated by PLD and estimated the characteristics for memory application 14/50/50 PLZT thin films have crystallize into perovskite structure at the $600^{\circ}C$ deposition temperature, 200 mTorr of oxygen pressure, and 2 $J/cm^2$ of laser energy density. In this condition PLZT thin films had the dielectric constant as high as 985, storage charge density 8.17 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ and charging time 0.20 ns. Leakage current density was less than $10^{-10}A/cm^2$ up to 5 V bias voltage.
A new low cost high power density photovoltaic power conditioning system (PV PCS) with an energy storage system is proposed in this paper. Its high power density and cost effectiveness can be achieved through the unification of the maximum power point tracker and the battery charger/discharger. Despite the reduced power stage, the proposed system can achieve the same performance in terms of maximum power point tracking and battery charging/discharging as the conventional system. When a utility power failure happens, the proposed system cannot perform maximum power point tracking at the UPS mode. However, the predetermined battery voltage near the maximum power point of the PV array can effectively generate a reasonable PV power even at the UPS mode. Therefore, it features a simpler structure, less mass, lower cost, and fewer devices. Finally, to confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed system, a theoretical analysis and experimental results from a single phase AC 220Vrms/1.5kW prototype are presented.
With weld metal of X65 steel, hydrogen was charged by electro-chemical method and mechanical behavior such as strength was measured by the small punch test. The weld metal was more sensitive to hydrogen charging than the case of base metal. The small punch (SP) strength was decreased as the hydrogen contents increased. Magnitude of strength decrease was dependent on current density, temperature, charging time. Current density and charging time have significant effect on the mechanical properties but temperature of electrolyte has limited effect. Fractured surfaces of the tested specimens were observed by SEM (scanning electron microscope). In the hydrogen charged specimens cleavage fracture were observed, which is consistent with the SP test results. Since the testing procedure for studying hydrogen embrittlement proposed in this study has shown good reproducibility of test results, the proposed method can be assumed to be a reliable test procedure. Using the electrochemical charging and the small punch test, the change of SP strength for X65 weld metal due to hydrogen embritlement could be evaluated sensitively.

A series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22, and 0.30) alloys are prepared and their oystal structure and P-C-T curves are examined. The electrochemical properties of these allqys such as activation conditions, discharge capacity, cycling performance are also investigated. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22 and 0.30) have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The electrode was activated by the hot-charging treatment. The best activation conditions were the current density 120 mA/g and the hot-charging time 12h at $80^{\circ}C$ in the case of the alloy with x=0.00. The discharge capacity increased rapidly until the fourth cycle and then decreased. The discharge capacity increased again from the 13th cycle, arriving at 234 mAh/g at the 50th cycle. The discharge capacily just after activation decreases with the increase in the amount of the substituted Fe but the cycling performance is improved. The discharge capacity after activation of the alloy with x=0.00 is 157 mAh/g at the current density 120 mA/g. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Fe_{0.15}$ is a good composition with a medium quantity of discharge capacities and a good cycling performance. The ICP analysis of the electrolyte for these electrodes after 50 charge-discharge cycles shows that the concentrations of V and Zr are relatively high. Another series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}M_{0.15}$ (M = Fe, Co, Cu, Mo and Al) alloys are prepared. They also have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The alloys with M = Co and Fe have relatively larger hydrogen storage capacities. The discharge capacities just after activation are relatively large in the case of the alloys with M = Al and Cu. They are 212 and 170 mAh/g, respectivety, at the current density 120mA/g. The $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Co_{0.15}$ alloy is the best one with a relatively large discharge capacity and a good cycling performance.

Activated carbons (ACs) have been used as electrode materials of electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC) due to their high specific surface areas (SSA), stability, and ecological advantages. In order to make high-energy-density ACs for EDLC, petroleum pitch (PP) pre-carbonized at $500-1000^{\circ}C$ in $N_2$ gas for 1 h was used as the electrode material of the EDLC after KOH activation. As the pre-carbonization temperature increased, the SSA, pore volume and gravimetric capacitance tended to decrease, but the crystallinity and electrode density tended to increase, showing a maximum volumetric capacitance at a medium carbonization temperature. Therefore, it was possible to control the crystalline structure, SSA, and pore structure of AC by changing the pre-carbonization temperature. Because the electrode density increased with increasing of the pre-carbonization temperature, the highest volumetric capacitance of 28.4 F/cc was obtained from the PP pre-carbonized at $700^{\circ}C$, exhibiting a value over 150% of that of a commercial AC (MSP-20) for EDLC. Electrochemical activation was observed from the electrodes of PP as they were pre-carbonized at high temperatures above $700^{\circ}C$ and then activated by KOH. This process was found to have a significant effect on the specific capacitance and it was demonstrated that the higher charging voltage of EDLC was, the greater the electrochemical activation effect was.
We have developed analysis program of discharge chracteristics of KrF laser system with charge transfer type, that studied about deposited energy, nonlinear discharge, and electron number density in the laser tube. With this program, voltagr, current, and deposited energy was calculated 27 KV,32.6 KA,200 MW at total pressure 2 atm and charging voltage 33 KV, respectively. At this condition, circuit parameters are L1=150nH, R1=$0.3{\Omega}$, L2=15nH, R2= $0.3{\Omega}$. In addition, nonlinear discharge resistance and electron number density was calculated ${\infty}{\sim}0.17{\Omega}.1{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$, respectively.

A numerical simulation for particle collection efficiency in a wire-plate electrostatic precipitator (ESP) has been performed. Method of characteristics and finite differencing method (MOC-FDM) were employed to obtain electric field and space charge density, and lattice boltzmann method (LBM) was used to predict the Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flow according to the ion convection. Large eddy simulation (LES) was considered for turbulent flow and particle simulation was performed by discrete element method (DEM) which considered field charging, electric force, drag force and wall-collision. One way coupling from FDM to LBM was used with small and low density particle assumption. When the charged particle collided with the collecting plate, particle-wall collision was calculated for re-entertainment effect and the effect of gravity force was considered.
For increasing the yield stress of ER fluids, the compressing ER electrode was developed and the compressing electrorheological (ER) behavior of anhydrous ER fluids in silicone oil of phosphorous ester cellulose powder was investigated. Under constant electric field, not only the current density but also the yield stress of anhydrous ER fluids were studied as varying the compressing length of ER electrode distance. From the experimental results the compressing of ER electrode had a large influence to the ER properties of anhydrous ER fluids. The current density was proportional to the compressing length of ER electrode under constant electric field and volume fraction also tile compressing yield stress was proportional to the volume fraction of dispersed particles under constant electric field and compressing length. When the ER electrode was compressed with 150mm after charging the electric field, 4 kV, tile yield stress of phosphoric ester cellulose ER fluids increased to thirteen times comparing with the yield stress measured at normal electrode.
