The influence of hold-down spring (HDS) on the vibration characteristics of core barrel is studied in this paper. First, the vibration characteristics experiment of core barrel was carried out with four type of different hold-down spring. These hold-down springs represent the same hold-down force under different spring stiffness and different hold-down force under the same spring stiffness. And then a new finite element method for researching the influence of hold-down spring on the vibration characteristics of core barrel was presented. This new method could consider the influence of the hold-down force and the spring stiffness at the same time. The results suggest that, the hold-down force and friction have greater influence on the vibration characteristics of core barrel than the spring stiffness, and the influence is nonlinear. The influence of the boundary condition on beam mode is greater than that on shell mode for core barrel.

In end milling process, which is characterized by the use of a rotating tool, the undeformed chip thickness varies periodically with phase change of the tool. Although many efforts have concentrated on the study of end milling process, the analysis of shear and chip-tool friction behaviors has not been reported. Recently, a model has been proposed to simulate the shear and friction characteristics of an up-end milling process in terms of the equivalent oblique cutting. In the current study, the varying undeformed chip thickness and the cutting forces in a down-end milling process are replaced with the equivalent ones of oblique cutting. Then it is possible to simulate the shear and the chip-tool friction characteristics of a down-end milling process. The proposed model has been verified through two sets of cutting tests i.e., down-end milling and the equivalent oblique cutting tests. The experimental results show that the proposed model is suitable to analyze the shear and chip-tool frictional characteristics of down-end milling process. The specific cutting energy decreases with increase in equivalent undeformed chip thickness in a down-end milling process.
Testing was conducted to determine the performance of a residential fuel cell system when subjected to DSS and WSS operation, especially for start-up and shut-down characteristics. In terms of start-up time, it took about 70min to start output power generation and stably to reach 1kW at cold start. Measurement of the characteristics of heat and power generation were carried out at start-up and shut-down time. Fuel gas is used for heating both reformer and stack from start-up to the beginning of power generation. In terms of start-up and shut-down characteristics, it was important to control the reformer temperature precisely. The average output water temperature during the rated output operation(960W) was $63.2^{\circ}C$ constantly. The results of the investigation are being used to develop a new test protocols for residential fuel cell system.
Objective: Ligament laxity and hypotonia are characteristics of Down syndrome patients. The aim of this study was to compare the landing pattern between Down syndrome patients and typically developing subjects. To compare the landing pattern, variables related to ligament laxity and hypotonia i.e. vertical stiffness and lower extremities kinematics were investigated. Method: Five subjects with Down syndrome (age: $14.6{\pm}1.8years$, mass: $47.6{\pm}6.94kg$, height: $147.9{\pm}6.0cm$) and six able-bodied subjects (age: $13.2{\pm}0.4years$, mass: $54.7{\pm}6.7kg$, height: $160.1{\pm}9.8cm$) participated in this study. Results: The vertical displacement of the center of mass, vertical reaction force, leg stiffness and range of ankle angle range among Down syndrome patients were significantly different than typically developing group. The youth with Down's syndrome appeared to receive greater vertical impact force at landing than normal youth. Conclusion: The differences in the biomechanical characteristics suggest the delay in motor development among Down syndrome patients and an increased risk of injury to the lower extremity during movement execution such as drop landing.

Top-Down construction is becoming a popular construction method in China as there is a growing need for building high-rise structures in crowded urban areas. This paper deals with the explanation and analysis of characteristics of Top-Down construction in China. In China, usually construction site is relatively large or sometimes huge compared to that in Korea. Thus, as the high-rise portion of the building needs to be constructed first and fast, island method is used at the center p망t of the building. In the meanwhile, the remaining area of the building is constructed using Top-Down method to provide working area for equipments and workers. Also, the case studies of construction examples are provided in this paper. The purpose of this paper is to promote international understanding and interaction between neighborhood countries for the utilization of Top-Down construction.

As a new approach to analyze shear behaviors in the shear plane and chip-tool friction behaviors in the chip-tool contact region during an end milling process, this paper introduces a method to transform an end milling process to an equivalent oblique cutting process. In this approach, varying undeformed chip thicknesses and cutting forces in the up-and down-end milling process are replaced with the equivalent ones of oblique cutting. Accordingly, in the current paper, the shear and friction characteristics of end milling operations, up- and down-end milling, have been analyzed based on the equivalent oblique cutting models. Two series of cutting tests, up- and down-end milling tests and the equivalent oblique cutting tests to that, have been carried out to verify the validity of the analyses. And using the results of cutting tests the cutting characteristics of the up- and down-end milling processes have been thoroughly investigated.
The rapid development of science technology during the 20th century has greatly lowered the hours for labour, thus giving members of society extra time for leisure. With the increasement of leisure activities, sports casual wear has become one of the foremost leading items in the fashion industry, and among such sports casual, down wear has become the F/W season's most popular item. Because it generates high profits, many recognize it as a very important factor in lady's wear. Since the 1990's, down wear was widely applied to various sections of lady's, men's, and children's wear, and it has ceased to be limited to sports casual only. The purpose of this study was to fully understand the characteristics of down, and to develop crossover garments design desired not only in the F/W season but also the S/S season. It has been taken into consideration that many restrictions in sewing technique and material selection in manufacturing down as a fashion product exist when choosing a means of manufacture. That was why this study focused on the history and characteristics of down while analysing the works of domestic and foreign designers to concretely applicate them in fashion products. This study has divided the resulting down wear products according to consumer preference: vest, jacket, coat, one-piece, and skirt to applicate design manufacture of lady's wear in general, while designing and making artistically expressed down wear. There were 48 works developed as a result of this study, of which 41 were ready-to-wear, and the remaining 7 works were creative art wear.
The performance of turbo pump drops rapidly and it gets into break-down when the void fraction reaches above the threshold value because the impeller flow passage is choked up with air bubbles. Phenomenological understanding of break-down and pumping recovery mechanisms under air-water two-phase flow conditions are therefore important for pump designers and essential assignment for researchers. In this paper, we investigated the characteristics of break-down and pumping recovery due to entrained air occurring inside a screw-type centrifugal pump which has a wide flow passage mainly through the findings of suction and discharge pressures, rotational speed, flow rate measurements and visualization.
Miniature Joule-Thomson cryocoolers have been widely used for rapid cooling of infrared detectors, probes of cryosurgery, thermal cameras, missile homing head and guidance system, due to their special features of simple configuration, compact structure and rapid cool-down characteristics. The cool-down time, the temperature at the cold end, the running time and the gas consumption are the important indicators of the performance of the J-T cryocooler. In this study, the initial cool-down stages of the J-T cryocooler were investigated by numerical simulations. The results show the effects of the initial charging pressures of gas on the cool-down time and the temperature at the cold end and the gas consumptions.

This paper has two purposes. One is to investigate the effect of the helix angle of endmilling cutter on the cutting haracteristics of inconel 718 in down endmilling. To this end a newly developed cutting force model in down end milling process is presented. Using this cutting force components of 4-tooth endmills with various helix angles have been predicted. Predicted values of cutting force components are well coincide with the measured ones. The other is to compare the down endmilling characteristics of lnconel 718 with those of the up milling previously presented. In up endmilling as the helix angle becomes larger the radial and tangential components of the specific cutting force ($K_1 and K_r$) decrease. While in down milling $K_1 and K_r$ become smaller as the helix angle decrease.
