  • Character industry which introduces marketing techniques into cultural level and recreational tendency owned by man and which develops them to industrial aspects is not simple sale of goods, but knowledge-intensive industry which asks consumers intangible symbolic elements. In other words, it is a field of soft business which concretizes and maximizes ideas, goods and services which can satisfy pleasure and recreational tendency internal to human mind. For Korean character industry, forms or expressions proper to character not only have weak character, meaning or values as goods from the stage at which they are developed, but the absence of strategies about media by which to develop these or integrative character marketing strategies and tactics makes a ripple effect of character or strategies of merchandising it relatively inferior compared to the advanced countries in character such as the United States, Japan, England and so on. 1 want to contribute to developing Korean character industry to the levels of developed countries by applying the strategies and tactics of MPR, the strategic marketing method which worldwide famous enterprises or brands are positively utilizing in the condition of the lad(Eng study on character marketing with character as the subject, to character marketing strategies by which they can be grafted directly into fields of character business.

  • This study is to understand the needs of local character design for SNS marketing and find development plan. We analyzed successful cases in Korea and Japan to find out development plan of competitive local character for SNS marketing. Method of study was literature research, case study and in-depth interview, based on component of character. These are the results. First, development of local character has to consider the use in SNS marketing. Second, local character has to be more concerned with intimacy than Symbolic. Third, it should have attractive visual, reflecting the taste of people. Fourth, it should have creative design to arouse people's curiosity. Finally, name and design of the character should be intuitive. Therefore, we expect improvement of Korean local characters, which reflect SNS marketing and current trends.

  • Recently, the importance of 'character' is widely acknowledged by practitioners and academic arena. Character is the archetype of design product. Unfortunately, however, there have been limited character design studies. The purpose of this study is to identify the components of character design and then to verify the causal relationships among them. The research model of the current study is developed based upon the past studies on the consumer response model related to the product design. The result of the study shows that the dimensions of character design are converged into upper dimensions, including such as character appearance, character image, and character attachment with each lower dimensions, respectively. An analysis of relationship among these variables indicates that while the character appearance tends to trigger character image, the character image leads to character attachment. In addition, both the character image and the character attachment have a positive influence on the loyalty of the character. Understanding of the paths among consumers' responses will be able to be a good guideline for establishing character design strategy. And, finally, the authors discuss some theoretical contributions and managerial implications.

  • Similar to the other cultural contents, the character industry is based on the media which acts as the technological background. In fact, the character industry is the process of that a created character accesses to the consumers via media, builds its value and becomes licensed as a brand in the market. Therefore, it is crucial to select the most effective media for the consistence of a character in the market, as well as for construction of a higher brand quality of the character. Today, "Webtoon" might be considered as one of the marketing means which utilizes the Internet media for raising the character as a brand. Webtoon has apparent strength because it can be produced in shorter period and with less expense than through other media. Furthermore, Webtoon can be simply featured by the easiness of two-way communication and transference to another media through it. For these reasons, and according to the result of analyzing some Korean Webtoons, it seems obvious that the most effective media in character marketing is the Internet. In addition to the Internet, the strategic development in the media-mix is also important for establishing a brand of a character. However, the effective media-mix is available only when the character's external identity meets with the trait of its media. For the purpose of learning how the media-mix works when a character reaches for the consumers, a character "Hamataeng" was born and used in the experiment. This study will explain the marketing process through the use of own-created Webtoon and other contents, and suggest the ways to build a brand of a character. In addition, it is also indicated that a media-mixing strategy for transformation and expansion of the character to other media.

  • The purpose of this study were to analyze the character usage situation such as domestic and foreign character's type, expression method and items, and also to propose the character usage promotion strategies of future fashion brands to activate and merge the character business and fashion. Five brands are selected for this study. The future promotion strategies of the Fashion Brands with characters were as follows: 1) stimulating the customers to purchase by awakening the sweet reminisce, 2) promoting the reputation of the fashion company's brand, 3) gaining an opportunity to raise their sales amount by taking advantage of emotional marketing or experience marketing.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine ways to vitalize cause related marketing (CRM) by proposing character T-shirts The campaign will employ Neo-Pop art, a genre popular with both companies and consumers. Study results are as follows: First, campaign T-shirts on the issue of human alienation resulting from digitalization can be utilized to generate financial profit that can be returned to society. This can lead to the acts of exchange for profit generation, public image improvemen of companies, and enhancement of their external status. As for the non-financial aspect, the campaign could lead to increased awareness of social issues and present opportunities to take actions of improvement. Second, the financial objective of character T-shirts dealing with environmental issue of sustainability involves brand distribution network support and revitalization of promotion such as shopping basket of love and eco-friendly store matching program for eco-friendly campaign. As for the non-financial aspect, it can help raise consumers' awareness of cause related activities such as crowd funding and fundraising and prepare opportunities of direct participation. Third, the financial objective of character T-shirts dealing with natural disaster relief activities on the global level involves brand recognition level increase and enhancement of positive association of companies through emergency relief and articles support as a result of drastic increases in casualties from nature disasters. As for the non-financial aspect, it can induce people's participation in relief activities and lead to the establishment of crisis response procedures. The information on the development of pop-art character T-shirts proposed in this study is expected to be used as basic information on cause marketing of fashion companies in the future, while providing inspiration to related fashion design.

A Study on the Marketing Factors and the Brand Image Influencing the Impulse Purchase Tendency of Women Who Buy Character Clothing Brands (여성 캐릭터 의류 브랜드 구매자의 충동구매에 영향을 미치는 마케팅 요인과 브랜드 이미지에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to (1) investigate on the impulse purchase tendency of women who buy women's character clothing brands and (2) to clarify the relationship between the women's impulse purchase tendency and the marketing factors, and the brand image. The subjects were 203 women in their twenties and thirties who had purchased the women's character clothing brands in last six months living in Seoul. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaire and were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t-test, clustering analysis and MDS(Multi-Dimensional Scale). The results of the study were as follows: (1)66.0% of the women were categorized as the group of high-degree of impulse purchase tendency and 34.0% of the women were identified as the group of low-degree of impulse purchase tendency. (2) In identifying the relationship between the marketing factors and the impulse purchase tendency, the group of the high-degree of impulse purchase tendency was affected by the marketing factors such as new and fashionable products, status of display, advertising and discout selling. (3) Brand image was not statistically significant according to the impulse purchase tendency. As a whole, 'Obzee' was recognized as unique-style and sexy brand, 'Time' and 'Mine' were thought as the reasonable-prince and basic-style brands, 'Deco' were clarified as the intellectual-image brand, and 'Ego' and 'Telegraph' were revealed as high-price-image brands.

  • Design is a fatal factor to differentiate and survive one product from the other in fierce competition of the market, when other conditions such as price or quality makes no much difference. Among many marketing tools, package design is known as a direct communication that visualizes and forms the very initial brand image of a product. Package design is not only for packing, transporting, storing and loading but for engraving the brand image in a consumers' mind and lead them to purchasing. One of recent package design trands is various ways of using character, not just as a printed image on the surface but as a part of three dimensional structure of package. If it succeed, the package design could give out the secondary fun and impact to the consumers. The package design with an effective character is itself a great marketing tool and valuable design asset, which can bring a further profit to the company. Especially, character-package can be a powerful and effective marketing method for various local products, in needs of further publication and sales with limited cost. It should motivate the sales of the products by grabbing their attention and taken as a souvenir. This research takes a character package as a useful marketing method for a local brand in Jeonju, South Korea, and tries to design a three dimensional package using its own character. Through the process, the research aims to propose an important design strategy for repositioning or enhancing an existing brand.

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of character collaboration product characteristics on brand awareness and purchase intention within the food and beverage (F&B) industry, with a special focus on Generation MZ's growing interest in such products. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of existing literature on character marketing, brand awareness, and consumer purchase intention, supplemented by case studies of successful character collaborations in the F&B sector. The findings reveal that character collaborations significantly impact brand awareness and purchase intentions, particularly among younger consumers like Generation MZ. These collaborations not only rekindle nostalgia but also introduce new and exciting consumer experiences, effectively attracting a wide demographic. The success of character-themed products, from Pokémon bread to Coca-Cola's League of Legends collaboration, underscores the strategy's effectiveness in boosting brand recognition and consumer engagement. The implications of this research are manifold for the F&B industry. Firstly, it highlights the importance of leveraging popular characters to forge emotional connections with consumers. Secondly, it suggests that product development should closely align with consumer preferences and market trends to maximize appeal. Lastly, it positions character collaboration as a strategic marketing tool that not only enhances product sales but also strengthens brand loyalty and facilitates sustained brand growth.

  • Being a symbolic image to let traditional 'mother wonlee' contents characters known widely, need to be made in a way that can deliver the powerful message of korea An-dong traditional local contents and the value of regent story. As for the contents character develope methods and the scope of the study, an theoretical study was conducted based on literature review, and, factor plus fiction field surveys, and the legend story and then an effect of character marketing on global contents with original identity. 'mother wonlee' pre-production plaining have been analysis with creative described based on the ancients features and the classification of ancient original characters, and the situation and the concept of An-dong local place. as a results this thesis is show up how to make up a main character develop processing and make a features design processing of the characters who different age and a scenes. as a conclusion is drawing about a 'Wonlee' and 'Eungtea' both main Character plaining processing and graphics; traditional face, all clothes, body proportion, etc. Also we trade to traditional patten with character planing. it will be a high value industry which facilitates a variety of industries in conjunction with marketing traditional source characters in global. Recognizing the value of traditional story main character design and graphics marketing and utilizing the value through various media will create infinite value, enabling the global marketing.
