  • The modern society with the wide spread recognition of the importance of informatics and for the development of information and communication technology is rapidly processing. Especially the rapid development in mobile technology boost up the general expectation that one can get the information he wants anytime anywhere. Accordingly image search for the convenient information retrieval is becoming common. However general image search has difficulties because inexactitude extracting character in the image and getting the detail information in extracted character. Therefore these paper make character recognition through the images that I photographed a sightseeing resort, a signboard of a lot of stores to a smart phone camera, so information offer to be convenient to users is a purpose. A user can get detailed information, by character extraction way called top-hat algorithm and connect to a server.

  • Today, the visual description of body is viewed in various categories, and the circumstance of computers is regarded as new type of communication beyond the circumstance of individual body. In cyber space, when existence and role of character in computer game constitute communication, the ideal body description of each character depicts dramatic beauty, which rises above reality. On this thesis, analyzing the body description and transition on visual in, I grope for a method to utilize in creating game character which is modeled from ideal human being. Although the progress of producing character has already come to limit, concluding that we have to create character model which has marked individuality and beauty by adding modem and future analysis to the golden ratio, which has established since ancient Greece, this paper suggests the method of creating character which has the image of ideal human body.

  • In this paper, a new semi-automated cyber character generating method is presented. Local edge detection tools extract face contour from graphic image files. Some graphic manipulation process detailed touch to obtain neat face contour. This method shortens the making process dramatically while maintaining the good quality similar to real face image. Some of the processed images are illustrated for clear explanation.

  • This paper presents the segmentation of sentence area and diagram area from docwnent image. For extracting the sentence area, we perform the Dilation, basic operation of Morphology, to the document image and obtain the smeared document image. After the smeared docwnent image is blocked, we determine the writing form by the vertical and horizontal characteristics of the document image and calculate the skew from it. And then, we relocate the document image and extract the chatacter string from the relocated docwnent. 11 document images of three classes are considered and the character string has been well extracting from 11 document images.

  • The binary image normalization method in image processing can be used in several fields, Especially, its high speed processing method and its hardware implmentation is more useful, A normalization process of each character in character recognition requires a lot of processing time. Therefore, the research was done as a part of high speed process of OCR (optical character reader) implementation as a pipeline structure with host computer in hardware to give temporal parallism. For normalization process, general purpose CPU,MC68000, was used to implement it. As a result of experiment, the normalization speed of the hardware is sufficient to implement high speed OCR which the recognition speed is over 140 characters per second.

An Analytical and Experimental Study of Binary Image Normalization for Scale Invariance with Zernike Moments

  • In order to achieve scale- and rotation-invariance in recognizing unoccluded objects in binary images using Zernike moment features, an image of an object has often been normalized first by its zeroth-order moment (ZOM) or area. With elongated objects such as characters, a stroke width varies with the threshold value used, it becomes one or two pixels wider or thinner. The variations of the total area of the character becomes significant when the character is relatively thin with respect to its overall size, and the resulting normalized moment features are no longer reliable. This dilation/erosion effect is more severe when the object is not focused precisely. In this paper, we analyze the ZOM method and propose as a normalization method, the maximum enclosing circle (MEC) centered at the centroid of the character. We compare both the ZOM and MEC methods in their performance through various experiments.

A Study on the Marketing Factors and the Brand Image Influencing the Impulse Purchase Tendency of Women Who Buy Character Clothing Brands (여성 캐릭터 의류 브랜드 구매자의 충동구매에 영향을 미치는 마케팅 요인과 브랜드 이미지에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to (1) investigate on the impulse purchase tendency of women who buy women's character clothing brands and (2) to clarify the relationship between the women's impulse purchase tendency and the marketing factors, and the brand image. The subjects were 203 women in their twenties and thirties who had purchased the women's character clothing brands in last six months living in Seoul. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaire and were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t-test, clustering analysis and MDS(Multi-Dimensional Scale). The results of the study were as follows: (1)66.0% of the women were categorized as the group of high-degree of impulse purchase tendency and 34.0% of the women were identified as the group of low-degree of impulse purchase tendency. (2) In identifying the relationship between the marketing factors and the impulse purchase tendency, the group of the high-degree of impulse purchase tendency was affected by the marketing factors such as new and fashionable products, status of display, advertising and discout selling. (3) Brand image was not statistically significant according to the impulse purchase tendency. As a whole, 'Obzee' was recognized as unique-style and sexy brand, 'Time' and 'Mine' were thought as the reasonable-prince and basic-style brands, 'Deco' were clarified as the intellectual-image brand, and 'Ego' and 'Telegraph' were revealed as high-price-image brands.

  • Character plays an important role not merely in animation but also in the modern image industry. From this perspective a new academic approach to and an analysis of character seems of much significance. With this in view this study carried out an elucidation of the basic factors and concept of plasticity for the creation of animation character on the basis of animation structural elements. Furthermore, an inquiry was conducted into fundamental requirements and factors of animation characters, human anatomy serving as the basis of forms for animation character modelling, the characteristics and techniques for creating animation cubic character, and then suggested a method of creation. In this process it was revealed that integral cubic character was applied to diverse animations, that character of high density was prerequisite for the creation of creative and effective animations, and that cubic character plasticity played a catalytic role in activation popular sympathy and the character industry.

Character Recognition System using Fast Preprocessing Method (전처리의 고속화에 기반한 문자 인식 시스템)

  • A character recognition system, where a large amount of character images arrive continuously in real time, must preprocess character images very quickly. Moreover, information loss due to image trans-formations such as geometric normalization and thinning needs to be minimized especially when character images are small and noisy. Therefore, we suggest a prompt and effective feature extraction method without transforming original images. For this, boundary pixels are defined in terms of the degree in classification, and those boundary pixels are considered selectively in extracting features. The proposed method is tested by a handwritten character recognition and a car plate number recognition. The experiments show that the proposed method is effective in recognition compared to conventional methods. And an overall reduction of execution time is achieved by completing all the required processing by a single image scan.

Research on Mimetic Aspect of Desire in the Movie, "The Servant" (영화 <방자전>에 나타난 욕망의 모방적 양상 연구)

  • Through Rene Girard's theory of triangle of the desire, this research investigates the mimetic nature of desire as shown in the main character of the movie The Servant. This paper analyzes the structural transformation of desire in the character, which is revealed by the process of reinterpretation via the medium change and convergence from Chunhyangjeon, a classic oral novel in Korea, to The Servant, a movie created by director Dae-woo Kim in 2010. The Servant is a meaningful research subject as the transformation of the inner desire of the character is accomplished by boldly designating Bangja, who is supposed to be a minor character, as the protagonist. In particular, Rene Girard's argument on the indirectness of desire in the theory of triangle of the desire helps understand the point where the character' inner desire, which naturally occurred in the existing narrative, transforms into the mimetic desire by an intermediary. This indirectness of the mimetic desire of the main character suggests a similarity with modern men's vanity which is offered by the capitalist era. Through this, the modern meaning of the mimetic aspect of desire as revealed by the transformation from the movie The Servant to Chunhyangjeon can be understood.
