  • In a MMORPG, a typical application of virtual environment systems, it is a common desire to play in a more realistic environment. However, it is very difficult to provide a latency-free virtual environment to a large user base, mainly due to the fact that the real environment must be configured on multiple servers rather than on single server and that data must be shared on the real server when users move from one region to another. Experiencing response delays continuously in the process of information synchronization between servers greatly deteriorates the degree of immersion. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to minimize the response delay occurring in the information synchronization process between the servers. In this paper, we propose Migration Agent for efficient information synchronization between field servers providing information of virtual environment and minimizing response delay between Field Server and PC(Player Character) and implement it in cloud computing network. In the proposed system, CPU utilization of field server increased by 6 ~ 13%, and response time decreased by 5 ~ 10 seconds over the existing system in 70,000 ~ 90,000 PCs

  • The forthcoming century will be the "era of cyber society" . In a virtual environment, a cyber character plays the role of an agent for the human being. In this paper, we introduce active researches of industries, universities, and research institutes in Korea. After Adam Soft Inc. presented a cyber singer,“Adam”, a few cyber characters have succeeded commercially through Internet, TV, CF, movies and etc. Some universities had their own characters to make fundamental researches in the fields of modeling, motion control, and VR. Research institutes have been funded recently to a cyber character related researches. This paper briefly reviews the recent research works, and future trends in Korea. in Korea.

  • 본 연구에서는 캐릭터 에이전트 기반 프리젠테이션 모델을 설계하였다. 캐릭터는 인간 대화의 특성을 반영하여 직관적이고 효과적인 커뮤니케이션 방식을 가진다. 그 적용사례로 마이크로소프트 에이전트를 파워포인트에 구현하여 보다 자연스럽고 인간적이며 직관적인 상호작용을 보인다.

  • A new quaternary ammonium compound, hydrolyzed ginseng-saponin quaternary (HGSQ), from Korean ginseng saponin and 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride has been developed as a conditioning agent in cosmetics. This structure has a hydrophobic group from the aglycone of ginseng saponin which is biologically active and considered to be the most important component of the Korean ginseng. Its properties : surface tension, critical micelle concentration (CMC), eye irritation, sorption onto hair, force reduction(%) and moisture retention effect were studied. Its cationic character allows the molecule to be more substantive than ginseng saponin. HGSQ had good physical properties and was safe. enough as a cosmetic raw material. Also half-head tests of HGSQ-containing shampoo were carried out to compare the conditioning effects in shampoos. HGSQ was an excellent conditioning agent in shampoo..

Development of a English Vocabulary Context-Learning Agent based on Smartphone (스마트폰 기반 영어 어휘 상황학습 에이전트 개발)

  • Recently, mobile application for english vocabulary learning is being developed actively. However, most mobile English vocabulary learning applications did not effectively connected with the technical advantages of mobile learning. Also,the study of mobile english vocabulary learning app are still insufficient. Therefore, this paper development a english vocabulary context-learning Agent that can practice context learning more reasonably using a location-based service, a character recognition technology and augmented reality technology based on smart phones. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed agent, we have measured the precision and usability. As results of experiments, the precision of learning vocabulary is 89% and 'Match between system and the real world', 'User control and freedom', 'Recognition rather than recall', 'Aesthetic and minimalist design' appeared to be respectively 3.91, 3.80, 3.85, 4.01 in evaluation of usability. It were obtained significant results.

  • Polyethylene terephtahalate has been used in several areas such as fiber, film, bottle, and disposable products. Production of PET has been rapidly increasing these days. Since PET is a semi-permanent material, it has a non-biodegradable character in itself. Wasted PET products can cause serious environmental problems. Many countries around the world impose environmental legal restrictions over their abandonments. Many researches on the enviromental influence factors and treatment techniques of the wasted PET have been carried out. The main objective of this study is to develop a new sizing agent using recycling PET and improve its internal sizing effect. Dried powder of PET was used to make the modified PET. After extracting water-dispersible PET by subcritical hydrolysis, polyester resins have been extracted and triphenyl phosphate(TPP) has been added to obtain optimal internal sizing agent. It was found that the optimum dosage of TPP was 2% (per PET weight) and the hydrolysis temperature was independent on making the modified PET.

  • This paper proposes Story Generation system based on Emotional Agent. In the proposed system, Emotional Agent is used as Actor whereas Story Generation produces goal and detailed plans to achieve goal. The storyline is constructed when the goal oriented plan is processed. The proposed system is effective and realistic since it employs human-like Emotional Agent as a main character in generating story.

  • Recently, research on the multi-agent system is developed actively in the various fields, especially on the control of complex system and optimization. In this study, we develop a multi-agent system for NPC simulation in game environment. The purpose of the development is to support quick and precise decision by inferencing the situation of the dynamic discrete domain, and to support an optimization process of the agent system. Our approach employed Petri-net as a basic agent model to simplify structure of the system, and used fuzzy inference engine to support decision making in various situation. Our experimentation describes situation of the virtual battlefield between the NPCs, which are divided two groups, such as fuzzy rule based agent and automata based agent. We calculate the percentage of winning and survival rate from the several simulations, and the result describes that the fuzzy rule based agent showed better performance than the automata based agent.

  • Visual narrative or storytelling involve two important aspects of the cognitive perception: the conscious and subconscious. Color is one of the cognitive storytelling elements, its interpretation is captured by the subconscious and it is considered an emotional resource due to its psychological background. On the other hand, the character is also part of cognitive perception and storytelling tool, but this is interpreted consciously, character is considered as a logical resource. Ghibli and Disney have organized their cinematographic techniques in different ways, so it would be unfair to say that one narrative style is better than the other, it depends of perception of beauty which varies according to society. However the present study seeks to determine the differences between Ghibli and Disney narrative style, taking as reference color. Ghibli and Disney are perfect example about color effects as a storytelling agent, It can be classified in two aspects: dynamics of color and color as a narrative sequence. The dynamics of color analyzes how color acts and is perceived into a stage, its meaning and symbolism regardless of the character's actions. The narrative sequence studies how color thermologic evolves in scene's development.
