A New Fast P2P Video Transmission Method Applied in Asymmetrical Speed Channel Environment

  • In an asymmetrical speed channel environment like asymmetric digital subscriber line, the up-link bandwidth is normally smaller than the down-link bandwidth, which will lead to extremely low utilization of down-link bandwidth when current P2P video transmission is applied. To overcome this, a new fast P2P video transmission method applied in an asymmetrical speed channel environment is proposed in this paper. On the basis of the many-to-one concept, the proposed method uses a new multipeer aggregation technique to enhance the utilization of down-link bandwidth. In addition, an adaptive peer assignment algorithm is also introduced in order to minimize the overall transmission time. Experimental results show that by using our proposed method, the utilization of down-link bandwidth is significantly improved, and the overall transmission time is greatly reduced.

Multi-Channel MAC Protocol Using Statistical Channel Utilization for Cognitive Networks

  • Opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) allows unlicensed users to share licensed spectrum in space and time with no or little interference to primary users, with bring new research challenges in MAC design. We propose a cognitive MAC protocol using statistical channel information and selecting appropriate idle channel for transmission. The protocol based on the CSMA/CA, exploits statistics of spectrum usage for decision making on channel access. Idle channel availability, spectrum hole sufficiency and available channel condition will be included in algorithm statistical information. The model include the control channel and data channel, the transmitter negotiates with receiver on transmission parameters through control channel, statistical decision results (successful rate of transmission) from exchanged transmission parameters of control channel should pass the threshold and decide the data transmission with spectrum hole on data channel. The proposed protocol's simulation will show that proposed protocol does improve the throughput performance via traditional opportunistic spectrum access MAC protocol.

  • VG-AnyLAN은 IEEE 802 위원회에서 제정한 100Mbps 근거리통신망 표준으로서 프레임 포맷은 기존 IEEE 802.3 이더넷의 형식을 그대로 유지한 반면에 매체접근제어 방식은 Demand Priority라 불리는 새로운 방식을 채택하였다. 이 방식에서 스테이션의 전송요청은 제어허브에 의하여 주기적으로 스캔되어 순서에 따라 전송된다. 이더넷의 매체접근제어방식인 CSMA/CD와 달리 이 방식은 네트워크 세그멘트 크기에 제한을 두지 않으며 패킷 지연시간에 최대 한계를 가진다. 본 논문에서 IEEE 802.12 VG-AnyLAN 매체접근제어 방식의 매체접근 지연시간과 채널 이용율(channel utilization)을 평가하였다. 각 스테이션에서 발생하는 트래픽의 우선순위가 모두 같으며, 패킷사이즈가 일정하다는 가정아래 시스템의 해석적 모델을 구축하고, 이를 이용하여 부하변동에 따른 시스템의 패킷 지연시간과 채널이용율의 순환 표현식을 얻었다. 또한 본 논문에서 얻은 결과를 뒷받침하기 위해 시스템 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 주요 지표에 대하여 수치해석 결과와 비교 분석하였다.

Resource Efficient AI Service Framework Associated with a Real-Time Object Detector

  • This paper deals with a resource efficient artificial intelligence (AI) service architecture for multi-channel video streams. As an AI service, we consider the object detection model, which is the most representative for video applications. Since most object detection models are basically designed for a single channel video stream, the utilization of the additional resource for multi-channel video stream processing is inevitable. Therefore, we propose a resource efficient AI service framework, which can be associated with various AI service models. Our framework is designed based on the modular architecture, which consists of adaptive frame control (AFC) Manager, multiplexer (MUX), adaptive channel selector (ACS), and YOLO interface units. In order to run only a single YOLO process without regard to the number of channels, we propose a novel approach efficiently dealing with multi-channel input streams. Through the experiment, it is shown that the framework is capable of performing object detection service with minimum resource utilization even in the circumstance of multi-channel streams. In addition, each service can be guaranteed within a deadline.

  • In this study, the flow uniformity was analyzed by performing numerical analysis on the 1 kWe internal manifold type solid oxide fuel cell stack according to the channel height of the separator. Also, it was examined by varying the fuel utilization rate and oxygen utilization rate. From the calculation results, we found that as the channel height of the separator decreased, the pressure drop increased exponentially. In addition, it was found that as the channel height of the separator decreased, the gas flow resistance inside the unit cell increased, and the flow resistance increased the pressure drop, thereby improving the flow uniformity inside the stack. Finally, the calculation results showed that as the fuel and oxygen utilization increased, the flow uniformity also improved.

  • In this paper, we introduce a packet diversity scheme to increase uplink channel utilization in a wireless network where forward error correction is used. The packet diversity allows neighbor base stations to receive uplink packets from a mobile terminal in order to increase the utilization of the uplink channel. By allowing multiple base stations to receive the same packets, we can improve the error correction capability in an uplink channel. By incorporating the packet diversity we can reduce the parity overhead of each packet for a given tolerable loss probability, which improves the link efficiency.

국내 FM 방송에서 채널 간격의 축소에 따른 스펙트럼 이용효율의 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Spectrum Utilization Efficiency by Narrowing the Channel Spacing in Domestic FM Broadcasting)

  • 국내 FM 방송채널을 기존의 200 KHz 간격으로 배치 했을 때와 100 KHz로 배치 했을 때, 송신출력, 지형굴곡계수, 송신 안테나 실효높이를 변수로 하여 효율 적인 방송망을 규정하고 채널을 배치하여 동일한 조건에서 스펙트럼의 이용효율을 산출·비교하였다. 그 결과 100 KHz 간격으로 채널을 배치하게 되면 200 KHz에 비해 사용가능한 채널 수는 두배로 늘어나고 스펙트럼의 이용효율은 최소 35.5%에서 최대 100%까지 증가시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

Unsaturated Throughput Analysis of IEEE 802.11 DCF under Imperfect Channel Sensing

  • In this paper, throughput of IEEE 802.11 carrier-sense multiple access (CSMA) with collision-avoidance (CA) protocols in non-saturated traffic conditions is presented taking into account the impact of imperfect channel sensing. The imperfect channel sensing includes both missed-detection and false alarm and their impact on the utilization of IEEE 802.11 analyzed and expressed as a closed form. To include the imperfect channel sensing at the physical layer, we modified the state transition probabilities of well-known two state Markov process model. Simulation results closely match the theoretical expressions confirming the effectiveness of the proposed model. Based on both theoretical and simulated results, the choice of the best probability detection while maintaining probability of false alarm is less than 0.5 is a key factor for maximizing utilization of IEEE 802.11.

EPON에서의 효율성 향상을 위한 가변 최대 전송 윈도우를 이용한 IPS 기반의 동적 대역폭 할당 알고리즘 (IPS-based Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm with Adaptive Maximum Transmission Window to Increase Channel Utilization in EPON)

  • 본 논문은 EPON(Ether Passive Optical Network)에서 채널 사용률을 개선하기 위한 방안으로 가변 최대 전송 윈도우를 이용한 동적 대역폭 할당(DBA-AMTW: Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation with Adaptive Maximum Transmission Window) 알고리즘을 제안한다. EPON에서의 폴링 기법은 채널 사용률을 결정하고 DBA 및 스케줄링 기법의 사용에 영향을 미친다. IPS(Interleaved Polling with Stop)에 기반을 둔 DBA 방식은 합리적인 전송 윈도우 할당이 가능한 장점을 갖지만, 채널 비사용 구간이 발생하여 채널 사용률이 저하되는 단점을 가진다. 제안하는 가변 최대 전송 윈도우를 이용한 동적 대역폭 할당 알고리즘은 채널 비사용 구간을 효율적으로 감소시키는 동시에 모든 ONU의 REPORT 메시지를 고려한 합리적인 채널할당이 가능한 특징을 가진다. 각 ONU는 개별적인 최대 전송 윈도우의 크기를 가지고 이러한 최대 전송 윈도우의 크기는 이전 사이클에서 결정된다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안하는 동적 대역폭 할당 방식이 기존 방식에 비해 처리율과 평균 지연 시간에 대한 성능을 향상시킴을 확인하였다.
