  • An optimal operation model for flood control of multi-reservoirs, Hwacheon and Soyanggang, located in the north Han River basin is developed by using the Incremental DP. The objective function is to minimize the peak flow at the confluence point, of Euam dam, and the hydraulic and hydrologic constraints are established by considering the related laws as to the operation of dam in flood season, each reservoir and channel characteristics. In particular, the final elevations of each reservoir are induced to the conservation pool level in order to prepare for the secondary flood. In addition, the results of this model, simulation results and the single reservoir operation by DP are compared in terms of control and utility efficiencies, and also the peak flows at the confluence point for floods with various return periods are compared with the results of simulation suing feedback control. as the results, the control and utility effciencies are more or less low in contrast with the results of simulation and the single reservoir operation by DP, and the peak flows at confluence point are high because of terminal condition of reservoir storage.

  • This paper presents results from steady wind tunnel test conducted on a $65^{\circ}$ delta wing at a root chord Reynolds number of $1.76{\times}10^6$. In these experiments, the wing was instrumented with 188 pressure taps, conjunction with powerful multi-channel data logging system, allowed the wing upper surface pressure distribution to be measured. Analysis indicates that the wing upper surface distribution can provide considerable insight into the comvined aerodynamic effects of angle of attack and sideslip on the wing. In a sideslip condition, the strength of the vortex on the windward side is much stronger than that of leeward side. This asymmetric pressure disstribution betwwen each side of wings result in a negative value of rolling moment. However, at a certatin range of angle of attck and sideslip angle(${\alpha}$=$24^{\circ}{\sim}36^{\circ}C$, ${\beta}$=$-5^{\circ}{\sim}-15^{\circ}C$) abrupt change of sign of rolling monent, rolling monent reversal, was observed.

  • In this thesis, interference phenomena of bluetooth networks requiring Security were minimized; strengthened security of piconet by assigning an identical PIN code to bluetooth devices, which was establishing a specific piconet during authentication stage. To establish a bluetooth piconet system. an unique ID was assigned to each bluetooth device, communication algorithms having different data formats between devices was designed, and an embedded hardware module using ARM processor and uCOS-II RTOS was implemented. About 30% of CPU efficiency in the module was increased by modifying functions including block parameters to work as nonblocking; by the increased efficiency of total piconet, the module could be used as an access point. The module could transmit maximum 10 frames of image and also audio signal by switching the packet effectively according to channel condition. By above-mentioned process, video, audio, and data could be well transmitted by the bluetooth managing program and the possibility of a commercial remote control system using bluetooth technology was suggested.

  • Ti alloys are extensively used in high-technology application because of their strength, oxidation resistance at high temperature. However, Ti alloys tend to be classified very difficult to cut material. In this paper, The powder synthesis, spark plasma sintering (SPS), bulk material properties such as electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity are systematically examined on $Ti_2AlN$ and $Ti_2AlC$ materials having most light-weight and oxidation resistance among the MAX phases. The bulk samples mainly consisted of $Ti_2AlN$ and $Ti_2AlC$ materials with density close to theoretical value were synthesized by a SPS method. Machining characteristics such as machining time, surface quality are analyzed with measurement of voltage and current waveform according to machining condition of micro-electrical discharge machining with micro-channel shape.

  • Chronic pain is a multifactorial condition with both physical and psychological symptoms, and it affects around 20% of the population in the developed world. In spite of outstanding advances in pain management over the past decades, chronic pain remains a significant problem. This article provides a mechanism- and evidence-based approach to improve the outcome for pharmacologic management of chronic pain. The usual approach to treat mild to moderate pain is to start with a nonopioid analgesic. If this is inadequate, and if there is an element of sleep deprivation, then it is reasonable to add an antidepressant with analgesic qualities. If there is a component of neuropathic pain or fibromyalgia, then a trial with one of the gabapentinoids is appropriate. If these steps are inadequate, then an opioid analgesic may be added. For moderate to severe pain, one would initiate an earlier trial of a long term opioid. Skeletal muscle relaxants and topicals may also be appropriate as single agents or in combination. Meanwhile, the steps of pharmacologic treatments for neuropathic pain include (1) certain antidepressants (tricyclic antidepressants, serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors), calcium channel ${\alpha}2-{\delta}$ ligands (gabapentin and pregabalin) and topical lidocaine, (2) opioid analgesics and tramadol (for first-line use in selected clinical circumstances) and (3) certain other antidepressant and antiepileptic medications (topical capsaicin, mexiletine, and N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor antagonists). It is essential to have a thorough understanding about the different pain mechanisms of chronic pain and evidence-based multi-mechanistic treatment. It is also essential to increase the individualization of treatment.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient video data transmission protocol using the cross-layer approach in ad hoc networks. Due to node movement, the MANET is frequently changing path and each path has different transmission rate so that it has low performance when transmitters select a constant transmission late at the encoding time. Because MANET is running limited energy, efficient energy management is important because it increases network life time and network throughput. Therefore we need an effective video transmission method that considers physical layer channelstatistics, node's energy status, and network topology changes at the same time unlike the OSI recommendation protocol in that each layer isindependent and hard to transmit adaptively video data according to the network conditions. Therefore, in this paper we propose a cross-layer effective video transmission protocol and mechanism that can select an optimal path using multilayer information such as node's residual energy, channel condition and hop counts and can determine the adequate coding rate adaptively.

  • For transmitting sensed data, wireless sensor networks have been developed and researched for the improvement of energy efficiency, hence, many MAC protocols in WSN employ the duty cycle mechanism. Since the progressed development of the low power transceiver and processor let the high energy efficiency come true, the delivery of the multimedia data which occurs in area of sensor work should be needed to provide supplemental information. In this paper, we design a new scheme for massive transmission of large multimedia data where the duty cycle is used in contention based MAC protocol, for WMSN. The proposed scheme can be applied into the previous duty cycle mechanism because it provides two operation between normal operation and massive transmission operation. Measuring the buffer status of sender and the condition of current radio channel can be criteria for the decision of the above two operations. This paper shows the results of the experiment by performing the simulation. The target protocol of the experiment is X-MAC which is contention based MAC protocol for WSN. And two approaches, both X-MAC which operates only duty cycle and X-MAC which operates combined massive transmission scheme, are used for the comparative experiment.

  • An experimental study on the reduction of vertical motion of floating body using floating-submerged body interaction was performed in a two-dimensional wave channel. The system consisting of a floating and submerged body that only move vertically was modeled. This experiment was designed based on the results of theoretical analysis of two-body interaction. The results showed a tendency to significant reduction of heave RAO of floating body due to submerged body. Various connection line stiffness and dimension of the submerged body were applied to investigate the effect of two-body interaction on the vertical motion of the bodies, Heave RAOs of the floating-submerged body were compared with those of single body. From the comparison study, we obtained an optimum condition of connection line and dimension of submerged body for maximum heave reduction at the resonant period of single body.

  • A watershed-river linked modeling system was developed to forecast the water quality, particularly weekly changes in chlorophyll-a concentration, of the Yeongsan River, Korea. Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) and Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code (EFDC) were adopted as the basic model framework. In this study, the EFDC model was modified to effectively simulate the operational condition and flow of multi-functional weirs constructed in the main channel of rivers. The model was tested against hydrologic, water quality and algal data collected at the right upstream sites of two weirs in 2014. The mean absolute errors (MAEs) of the model calibration on the annual variations of river stage, TN, TP, and algal concentration are 0.03 ~ 0.10 m, 0.65 ~ 0.67 mg/L, 0.03 ~ 0.04 mg/L, and $9.7{\sim}10.8mg/m^3$, respectively. On the other hand, the MAE values of forecasting results for chlorophyll-a level at the same sites in 2015 range from 18.7 to $22.4mg/m^3$, which are higher than those of model calibration. The increased errors in forecasting are mainly attributed to the higher uncertainties of weather forecasting data compared to the observed data used in model calibration.

  • A study has been performed to investigate the thermo-mechanical effects of thermal barrier coating on liquid rocket regenerative cooling chamber using finite element analysis. Two kinds of thermal barrier coatings were studied on the same loading condition: first, NiCrAlY-$ZrO_2$, coating which is currently applied to the developing combustion chamber and second, Ni-Cr coating which might be applied in the future. Analysis results showed that NiCrAlY-$ZrO_2$ coating has better decreasing effect of temperature than the Ni-Cr coating. As a results, temperature and deformation of the cooling channel in the NiCrAlY-$ZrO_2$ coating were also less than those of the Ni-Cr coating. The Ni-Cr coating has no effect on a structural stability of the outer jacket but the NiCrAlY-$ZrO_2$ coating reduced the effective stress of the outer jacket and enhanced the structural stability of the chamber.
