  • The purpose of this investigation is examining how treatment for foot reflex massage affect the changes in body temperature and blood composition. The cases of experiment are 10 male(n=2) and female(n=8) who don't have special clinical problems. This is the process of experiment. First, we photograph the anterior part and posterior of the upper, lower half of the body with an infrared imaging system. Second, among same parts, we compare the temperature of the whole body before treatment for foot reflex massage with the temperature after it. Then we draw blood from the body and observe a change: in numerical value of blood before and after treatment. Before and after treatment, we come to measure temperature of the whole body, the numerical value of WBC, RBC, platelet, HCT, Hb through analysis of blood, and the result of AST(GOT), ALT(GPT), ALP, GGT through analysis of serum enzyme activity of blood. There were no significant differences in blood composition. In terms of SPSS statistic program, when we explain each numerical value before and after foot massage, the abdominal, the buttocks, the femoral region universally take successful results about a change in body temperature(p<0.05).

  • Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis(BIA) is a widely used method for estimating body composition changes which is a non-invasive, inexpensive, safety and reproductive method. We studied the bioimpedance change and the distinction of blood pressure according to body posture and conducted three kinds of experiments: the real-time bioimpedance measurement, the simulation using equivalent circuit model and the blood pressure measurement. Bioimpedance is measured during 4 minutes at the multi-frequency(1 kHz, 10 kHz, 20 kHz, 50 kHz, 70 kHz, 100 kHz). From the experiment results, the changes in body postures result in changes of resistance and reactance, with an average rapid increase of body impedance when going from standing, sitting to supine. Specially, the laying resistance on average was 16.49% higher than supine resistance at 50 kHz and the laying reactance measurement was also 26.05% higher than sitting reactance at 1 kHz. Blood pressure in standing posture was higher than those in other postures both in maximum($125.14{\pm}12.30$) and in minimum($75.57{\pm}10.31$). The results of BIA and blood pressure in this study will be contributed to the research on acute illness, extreme fat, and body shape abnormalities.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of smart machine circulation exercise on body composition, lung function, blood lipid and insulin resistance in obesity middle-aged women among 40-60 years by dividing them into a smart machine circulation exercise group(n=8), and control group(n=6). The smart machine circulation exercise program included 55-minutes sessions thrice each week at the following intensities: The strength of aerobic exercise is applied to smart machines by linking the smart machine with the POLAR T31; the 1-4 week is 40-50%HRR, 5-8 week is 50-60%HRR, and 9-10 week is 60-70%HRR. The strength of the resistance exercise was tested using a smart machine based on the constant velocity motion, and then, using the 1-RM data value, applied 40% 1-RM for 1-4 weeks, 60% 1-RM for 5-8 weeks, and 80% 1-RM for 9-10 week. As a results, body composition indicated that weight, BMI, %BF, WHR had a significant interaction effect. Lung function indicated that FVC levels significantly changes in the exercise group and the between groups difference in changes at 10week was significant. Also, FVC and FEV1 significantly showed interaction effect. TC, TG and HDL-C levels significantly changes in smart machine circulation exercise group and the between-group difference in changes after 10 weeks was significant. TC, TG and HDL-C significantly showed interaction effect. Insulin resistance demonstrated that Insulin, Glucose and HOMA-IR levels significantly showed difference over 10 weeks between group. Therefore, the 10 weeks smart machine circulation exercise positively effects on the body composition, lung function, blood lipids, and insulin resistance in obesity middle-aged women and this smart machine circulation exercise can improve their obesity and prevent obesity.

  • The study was performed to investigate the effects of whey protein-rich meal substitute added with vitamins, minerals, and lactobacillus powder probiotics on weight loss, body fat, and body composition in 24 female volunteers for 4 weeks. Whey protein-rich meal substitute was consumed with low-fat, high calcium milk (1% fat, 260 mg/200 mL) twice a day. Subjects submitted 3-day diet records and a life-style questionnaire before the study. During the study, subjects were required to turn in a diet record every day and consume the meal substitute formula in the metabolic ward at C university for 4 weeks. Anthropometric measurements were carried out weekly by Inbody 7.0. The dietary intake and anthropometric data were analyzed to compare changes before and after the study by paired t-test with SPSS version 23.0. The subjects were mostly early 20's and either overweight or obese and highly motivated to lose weight. Most of the subjects consumed three meals per day regularly and spent mostly 10~15 minutes for a meal. Their caloric intake was relatively low and decreased from 1,360 kcal at week 0 to 1,100 kcal after 4 weeks. However, total protein intake increased while carbohydrate and fat intakes decreased (p<0.05) after the trial. Nine vitamin intakes after the study improved compared to those before the study (p<0.05). After the study, subjects showed lower body weight (-1.8 kg), body fat (-0.94 kg), percent body fat (-0.86%), as well as waist circumference (-4.52 cm), hip circumference (-0.44 cm), waist hip ratio (-0.05), and triceps skinfold thickness (-2.39 mm) compared to those at week 0 (p<0.05). Muscle mass tended to be less compared to week 0, although there was no significant differences between weeks 0 and 4. In conclusion, diet trial with whey protein-rich meal substitute induced weight loss and positively changed body fat parameters and body composition.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine changes in body composition and blood lipids and to analyze the effects of Danhak exercise for 3 months in older women. For this study, 35 female subjects 60 to 70 years of age were recruited and administered 90 min of Danhak exercise, five times per week for three months by a professional coach. The results of this study were as follows: At baseline, the mean BMI(body mass index) and body fat(%) were 23.9 kg/$(m)^2$ and 32.4$\pm$4.9(%), respectively. The mean WHR(waist-hip ratio) was 0.91$\pm$0.04 and all subjects were determined to be abdominally obese. A significantly lower body fat was observed after 3 months of Danhak exercise(p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in BMI, WHR or body weight before and after exercise. Danhak exercise also resulted in a decrease in total cholesterol and an increase in HDL(high density lipoprotein, and these differences were significant. Taken together, the results of this study indicate that the effects of Danhak exercise were similar to those of aerobic exercise with respect to improve body fat(%) and blood lipid profiles, which suggests that Danhak is a profitable exercise for individuals aged 60 and over.
