헤어리베치와 부분경운에 의한 잡초발생과 수수의 생육 및 수량 (Weed Occurrences, Growth and Yield of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) by Hairy Vetch and Partial-Width Tillage)

  • 본 연구는 유기농업을 위한 중경제초기 개발로 제초날 형상 등 제초기 본체와 헤어리베치 파종시기 및 경운방법별 잡초발생 양상과 수량을 분석하였다. 헤어리베치의 건물량은 추파가 $6,730g\;ha^{-1}$로 춘파 $1,690g\;ha^{-1}$보다 3배 이상 높았다. 파종시기에 따른 헤어리베치의 식물체 분석을 보면, 전 질소는 추파가 5.4 kg으로 춘파 2.0 kg에 비해 2배 이상 높았다. 관행 비닐멀칭구에 비해 헤어리베치 처리구가 초장, 경태, 그리고 엽수가 다소 작았고, 출수기도 추파구는 8일, 춘파구는 12일 지연되었다. 잡초방제가는 무피복 대비 각각 피복비닐구, 부분경운구가 각각 88%, 71% 순이었다. 수량은 단작 비닐멀칭구가 $2,310kg\;ha^{-1}$, 추파 부분 경운구가 $2,130kg\;ha^{-1}$이었다.

Response of Millet and Sorghum to Water Stress in Converted Poorly Drained Paddy Soil

  • Millet and sorghum are major dryland cereal crops, however their growth and productivity is limited by soil water stress with varying intensity. The major objective of this study was to evaluate water stress of millet and sorghum yield under drainage classes of poorly drained soil and to test the effect of the installed pipe drainage in poorly drained paddy soil to minimize crop stress. The research was carried out in poorly drained paddy fields located at alluvial slopping area resulting in non-uniform water content distribution by the inflow of ground water from the upper part of the field. Stress Day Index (SDI) was determined from a stress day factor (SD) and a crop susceptibility factor (CS). SD is a degree of measurement by calculating the daily sum of excess water in the profile above 30cm soil depth ($SEW_{30}$). CS depends on a given excess water on crop stage. The results showed that sum of excess water day ($SWD_{30}$) used to represent the moisture stress index was lower on somewhat poorly drained soil compared with poorly drained soil on 117 days. CS values for sorghum were 57% on $3^{rd}$ leaf stage, 44% on $5^{th}$ leaf stage, 37% on panicle initiation, 23% on boot stage, and 16% on soft dough stage. For proso millet CS values were 84% on $3^{rd}$ leaf stage, 70% on $5^{th}$ leaf Stage, 65% on panicle initiation, 53% on boot stage, and 28% on soft dough stage. And for foxtail millet the values were 73% on $3^{rd}$ leaf stage, 61% on $5^{th}$ leaf stage, 50% on panicle initiation, 29% on boot stage, and 15% on soft dough stage. SDI of sorghum and millet was more susceptible to excess soil water during panicle initation stage more poorly drained soil than somewhat poorly drained soil. Grain yield was reduced especially in proso millet and Foxtail millet compared to Sorghum.

질소 추비시용이 밀 수발아 억제에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Additional Nitrogen Fertilizer Application on Decreasing of Preharvest Sprouting in Winter Wheat)

  • 본 연구는 질소 추비 시용수준을 달리한 비배관리가 수발아에 미치는 영향을 구명코자 금강밀과 조경밀을 공시하여 질소 추비 처리 수준별로 출수기, 생육, 종실특성 및 수발아 관련 형질을 비교하였다. 질수수준 증가에 따라 간장, 수장, 경수 및 영화수가 증가했으나, 임실율은 2010년에는 질소 50% 증비(108 kg N/ha)에서 가장 높은 수치를 나타냈고, 2011년에는 100% 증비(144 kg N/ha)에서 가장 높은 수치를 나타냈다. 밀 종실 특성 중 천립중, 리터중 및 수분함량은 질소수준에 따라 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 종실 수량은 질소 수준이 증가함에 따라 계속 증가하여 50% 증비에서 가장 높게 나타났으며 그 이후부터는 감소하였다. 종실의 단백질 함량을 살펴보면 질소수준이 증가함에 따라 점차 증가는 경향을 보였으며 100% 증비에서 가장 높은 함량을 나타냈고, 금강이 조경보다 높은 단백질 함량을 보였다. 밀 종자의 수발아 관련 형질간 비교에서는 질수수준이 증가함에 따라 발아율, Germination index 및 ABA sensitivity가 점차 감소했는데, 이는 종자의 수발아율을 낮추는 결과를 가져왔다. 밀 종자의 Germination index는 금강의 경우 무비(추비)에서 가장 높게 나타났으며 그 이후에는 조경의 경우와 마찬가지로 질소 수준이 증가함에 따라 점차 감소하였다. 밀 종자의 수발아율은 조경의 경우 50% 감비에서 24.7%, 금강의 경우 무비(추비)에서 19.6%로 가장 높게 나타났으나, 질소 처리 수준이 증가함에 따라 수발아율은 점차 감소하였다. ABA sensitivity와 수발아율 간에는 정의 상관을 나타내어 ABA sensitivity를 간이 수발아 검정법으로 활용 가능할 것으로 보였다.

맥류의 흰가루병 저항성 검정을 위한 실내 유묘 대량검정 방법 (An Easy Seedling Method to Screen Resistance of Powdery Mildew of Barley and Wheat)

  • 유묘를 이용한 보리와 밀의 흰가루병에 대한 실내 대량 검정 방법을 개발하고 국내 육성 품종 및 유전자원에 대해 저항성 정도를 검정하였다. 종이 봉투를 이용한 유묘 검정은 파종에서 접종이 가능한 생육까지 약 10일이 소요되었으며, 접종 후 발병 및 검정까지는 약 8일로 3주 이내에 저항성 정도를 확인할 수 있었다. 이 방법은 1회에 180종 이상을 검정할 수 있다. 유묘 검정시 저항성 반응은 포장과 마찬가지로 무감염과 괴사증상 두가지 반응을 보여 이를 이용하여 저항성 정도를 판정할 수 있었다. 국내 육성 보리 79품종 중 겉보리에서는 '상록보리'만이 저항성이었고, 맥주보리에서는 '다진보리'가 저항성을 보였고 '제주보리'는 중도 저항성을 나타내었다. 쌀보리와 밀 25품종은 모두 감수성을 의였다. 이 결과는 포장에서의 저항성성과 같은 결과를 보여 맥류의 흰가루병 저항성 검정에 이용하는 것이 가능하였다. 한편 국내에서 보리와 밀의 품종육성에 이용되는 유전자원 검정 결과 맥주보리에서 가장 많은 51종이 저항성 자원으로 선발되었다. 그러나 겉보리와 쌀보리 796종과 밀 273종에서는 저항성 자원이 확인되지 않았다.

삼해주 양조에 관한 문헌적 고찰 (A Bibliographical Study on the Processing Methods of Samhaeju)

  • Information on brew time for Samhaeju can get from the 26 kinds of classical literature, which deal with Samhaeju. Usually, Samhaeju is brewed on any day of the Boar in January of the lunar calendar. However, any day of the Boar in a year seams to be possible for the brew time. In the first step of the manufacture procedure, nonglutinous and glutinous rice are used with the same propontion. The nonglutious and glutinous rice ratio become higher on the 2nd and the 3rd step than in the 1st step. The amount of water adding to the Samhaeju-base is increased step by step. In the first step, processing type of the cereal is predominantly gruel type, which is followed by rice calce. In the 2nd step, rice cake and doughnut-type rice cake are more common type than gruel type. In the 3rd step, processing type of the cereal in Samhaeju is mostly steamed water-soaked rice. Companing China and Japan with Korea, there is difference in the processing types of the cereal. They use steamed water-soaked rice in any step. Nuruk(fermenter) is added to the cold processed cereal in the first step.

Nitrogen and Phosphorus Content Changes in Paddy Soil and Water As Affected by Organic Fertilizer Application

  • BACKGROUND: With increasing public awareness to environment-friendly agriculture, many efforts have been run to develop organic farming technologies in Korea as of late 90s. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different organic farming practices on soil chemical properties and water quality in paddy fields. METHODS AND RESULTS: Total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) were monitored for a two-year period (2006 to 2007) from the study organic paddy fields located in Wan-ju, Jeonbuk Province in Korea. TN and TP of organic paddy water were gradually increased for 2~3 weeks after organic manure application and then gradually decreased afterward. The overall variation of TP in the paddy fields was much greater than that of TN. The phosphorus content in organic paddy field appeared to increase with the organic farming period. CONCLUSION(s): This indicates that long-term organic farming is likely to cause phosphorus accumulation in soils and increase vulnerability to rainfall runoff. Thus, appropriate phosphorus management needs to be implemented, particularly, to reduce excessive phosphorus supply owing to nitrogen-based determination of organic manure application amount.

수입식품 및 국내식품중의 아플라톡신 함유량 조사연구 (A Study on the Aflatoxin B1 Contents in Domestic and Import Foods)

  • This Study was performed to investigate the contents of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ in cereal, pulse, nuts and these products of domestic and import. These results were as follows. 1. Average concentration(in ${\mu}g/kg$) of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ in domestic foods were 2.6 in cereal, 3.9 in pulse, 4.2 in nuts and 1.4 grain products. The contents of aflatoxin B$_{1}$ in pulse and nuts were much higher than those of cereal and grain products. But their values were still within $10{\mu}g/kg$ the maximum residual level of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ for food of Korea. 2. Average contents of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ in import foods were 4.8, 5.4, 6.0, $3.8{\mu}g/kg$ for cereal pulse , nuts and popcorn & peanuts butter, respectively. And these values were found to be below the maximum residual level ($10{\mu}g/kg$) of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ for food of Korea. 3. The concentration of aflatoxin $B_{1}$ in 2 samples of domestic and 9 samples of import foods were over the tolerance limit for aflatoxin $B_{1}$ in food of Korea. Therefore, the hygienic managements of the foods should be required during storage and circulation at market.

Cereal Resources in National BioResource Project of Japan

  • The National BioResource Project of Japan is a governmental project to promote domestic/international research activities using biological resources. The project has 27 biological resources including three cereal resources. The core center and sub-center which historically collected the cereal resources were selected for each cereal program. These resources are categorized into several different types in the project; germplasm, genetic stocks, genome resources and database information. Contents of rice resources are wild species, local varieties in East and Southwest Asia & wild relatives, MNU-induced chemical mutant lines, marker tester lines, chromosome substitution lines and other experimental lines. Contents of wheat resources are wild strains, cultivated strains, experimental lines, rye wild and cultivated strains; EST clones and full-length cDNA clones. Contents of barley resources are cultivar and experimental lines, core collection, EST/cDNA clones, BAC clones, their filters and superpool DNA. Each resource is accessible from the online database to see the contents and information about the resources. Links to the genome information and genomic tools are also important function of each database. The major contents and some examples are presented here.

Plastid Transformation in the Monocotyledonous Cereal Crop, Rice (Oryza sativa) and Transmission of Transgenes to Their Progeny

  • The plastid transformation approach offers a number of unique advantages, including high-level transgene expression, multi-gene engineering, transgene containment, and a lack of gene silencing and position effects. The extension of plastid transformation technology to monocotyledonous cereal crops, including rice, bears great promise for the improvement of agronomic traits, and the efficient production of pharmaceutical or nutritional enhancement. Here, we report a promising step towards stable plastid transformation in rice. We produced fertile transplastomic rice plants and demonstrated transmission of the plastidexpressed green fluorescent protein (GFP) and aminoglycoside 3′-adenylyltransferase genes to the progeny of these plants. Transgenic chloroplasts were determined to have stably expressed the GFP, which was confirmed by both confocal microscopy and Western blot analyses. Although the produced rice plastid transformants were found to be heteroplastomic, and the transformation efficiency requires further improvement, this study has established a variety of parameters for the use of plastid transformation technology in cereal crops.
