The design was performed and described on the basis of three layered architecture. Application layer S/W runs on IBM PC and provides services which is similar ED MMS in MAP to user application Data linklayer runs on Intel's iDCX96 real time executive and uses centralized media accesscontrol method. Physical layer uses Manchester encoding & decoding, twisted pair fines and RS485 electrical standard.

  • Considerable achievements in developing structural regulators as an important method for vibration control have been made over the last few decades. The use of large quantities of cables in traditional wired control systems to connect sensors, controllers, and actuators makes the structural regulators complicated and expensive. A wireless decentralized control experimental platform based on Wi-Fi unit is designed and implemented in this study. Centralized and decentralized control strategies as sample controllers are employed in this control system. An optimal control algorithm based on Kalman estimator is embedded in the dSPACE controller and the DSP controller. To examine the performance of this control scheme, a three-story steel structure is developed with active mass dampers installed on each floor as the wireless communication platform. Experimental results show that the wireless decentralized control exhibits good control performance and has various potential applications in industrial control systems. The proposed experimental system may become a benchmark platform for the validation of the corresponding wireless control algorithm.

  • As the interest of flexible manufacturing systems and computer integrated manufacturing systems increase, the distribution of centralized control systems using industrial control networks is getting more attention. In this paper, we investigate the rate-based traffic control of industrial control networks to improve the performance regarding the throughput, fairness, and error rates. Especially, we consider the protocol of Lon-$Works^{(TM)}$ which consists of all OSI 7-layers and supports various communication media at a low cost. Basically, the proposed rate-based traffic control system is closed loop by utilizing the feedback channel errors, which shows improved performance when compared with other industrial control networks commonly operated in open loop. To this end, an additional network node called monitoring node is introduced to check the channel status without increasing the channel load. The Proposed control loop is in effect whenever the feedback channel error becomes greater than an admittable value. We demonstrate the improved performance of the controlled network system in view of throughput and fairness measures by implementing the lab-scale network system based on LonWorks and through the experimentation upon it.

  • Numerous solution methods for scheduling problems such as part dispatching problem, operation sequence problem have been suggested as a means to be embedded in hierarchical or centralized shop floor control. Under the preceding control philosophies, however, response to changes in the shop floor status is quite slow and timely decision is sometimes impossible. Moreover, the control software becomes too large and it is almost impossible to modify the control software when the configuration of the shop floor changes. In agile manufacturing which emerged recently to cope with quick response and easy modifiability when unexpected changes occur, a new control policy is needed. CSCW[Computer Supported Cooperative Work] based shop floor control casts a different view on scheduling problems. Decisions are made locally when requested and useful information is scattered among agents for its efficient use. Adaptation is easy because agents are -'plug compatible or portable. In this paper, scheduling problems occurring under CSCW based shop floor control are identified and characterized. Traditional scheduling problems are reviewed from the CSCW viewpoint. All the control entities involved in the shop floor can be found and used to defined agents. With these entities and CSCW concept, possible scheduling problems are identified.

  • In this paper, a new overload control scheme is proposed for a stored program control system. The proposed control scheme is fit for a distributed architecture. In a distributed architecture, most of the call control functions are distributed to many subscriber control processors(SP) and some functions as number translation and routing control are centralized to central processors(CP). Therefore the performance of the CP is critical to the switching system. We needed a control scheme that ensures the proper operation of the CP in overload condition. We conducted lots of simulation experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed overload control scheme and concluded that the proposed overload control scheme is very effective for a distributed architecture.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of fast handover support for future internet networks. The current mobility support protocols, for example Proxy Mobile IPv6, follow a centralized architecture in which a mobility controller is used to manage intra-network handovers that gives rise to high handover latency. To handle this problem, we propose a novel distributed mobility control architecture in which gateways in the network can exchange user information with neighbour gateways to support intra-network handovers, the mobility controller is only needed in case of inter-network handovers. Simulation results show that our architecture reduce approximately 20% intra-network handover latency than Proxy Mobile IPv6.

  • The medium access control (MAC) protocol based on dynamic time division multiple access/time division duplex (TDMA/TDD) is responsible for random access control and radio resource allocation in dynamic traffic environments. These functions of random access and resource allocation are very important to prevent wastage of resources and improve MAC performance according to various network conditions. In this paper, we propose new random access and resource allocation schemes to guarantee quality of service (QoS) and provide priority services in a dynamic TDMA/TDD system. First, for the QoS guarantee, we propose an adaptive random access and resource allocation scheme by introducing an access probability. Second, for providing priority service, we propose a priority-based random access and resource allocation scheme by extending the first adaptive scheme in both a centralized and a distributed manner. The analysis and simulation results show that the proposed MAC protocol outperforms the legacy MAC protocol using a simple binary exponential backoff algorithm, and provides good differential performance according to priorities with respect to the throughput and delay.

  • CAC, UPC, NPC, cell level QoS and congestion control is required to assign efficiently channels's BW and to prevent networks from congestion. In the CAC algorithm, each user defines characteristics of input traffic when channels are set up and network based on this parameters determines the acception or rejection of the required BW. The CAC control mechanism is classified into the centralized BW allocation mechanism and the distributed BW Allocation mechanism according to the function and position of CAC processor allocating BW. In this paper, in contrast with esisted the distributed BW allocation mechanism which assumes the required BW of input traffic as constant, we assume input traffic & serices as bulk probability distribution in order to analyze performance more precisely.

  • In this paper we introduce a model based centralized hierarchical controller for cooperative team of soccerplaying multiple mobile robots. The hierarchical controller is composed of high-level and low-level controllers. Using the coordinates information of objects from the vision are simple models of multiple mobile tobots on the playground. Subsequently, the high level controller selects and action model corresponding to the perceived state transition model and generates subgoal and goal-velocity, from which the low level controller generates trajectory of each wheel velocity of the robot. This two layered simplicity. The feasubility of the control strategy has been demonstrated in an implementation for real soccer games at a MiroSot league.
