  • This study examines the impact of live commerce characteristics on customer responses in the ELM perspective. Based on ELM, the central route is composed of information completeness, accuracy, and currency, and the peripheral route is composed of streamer credibility, streamer reputation, social presence, and system quality. An online survey of female customers aged 20 to 49 who have purchased beauty products through live commerce within the past three months was conducted. The results demonstrate that information completeness and information currency exert significant impact on perceived usefulness and enjoyment. Social presence and system quality also exert significant impact on perceived usefulness and enjoyment. Moreover, perceived usefulness and enjoyment had significant impact on behavioral intention. The effect of information completeness on perceived usefulness and enjoyment was much stronger for high product involvement groups. Furthermore, the effect of streamer reputation on perceived enjoyment was much stronger for high product involvement groups. In contrast, the effect of social presence on perceived usefulness and enjoyment was much stronger for low product involvement groups. This study suggests theoretical implications for applying ELM to live commerce and practical implications for differentiated live commerce marketing strategies.

  • The use of antihemophilic factor IX complex has been associated with a variety of thrombotic complications, the major cause of which was the contamination of thrombogenic proteins such as vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, and X. In order to produce a commercial factor IX (GreenNine VF) free from thrombogenic potential, industrial-scale production process for high-purity factor IX from human plasma has been developed. The purification process contains cryo-precipitation, DEAE-sephadex A-50 anion-exchange chromatography, DEAE-toyopearl 650M anion-exchange column chromatography, heparin-sepharose 6FF affinity column chromatography, and CM-sepharose FF cation-exchange column chromatography. Also the process includes two viral inactivation and removal procedures, solvent/detergent treatment and nanofiltration using Viresolve NFP filter. The purification yield was 35.4%. The specific activity in the purified concentrate was 190.8 IU/mg which exceeded that in the factor IX complex (FacNine) by a factor of 48. The activities of factor II, VII, and X were not detected in GreenNine VF. SDS-PAGE analysis showed that GreenNine VF had the highest purity in comparison with commercially available high purity factor IX concentrates, Mononine, Octanyne, Berinin HS, and Immunine STIM plus 600. One batch size of the production was 2,400 vials of 250 IU product or 1,200 vials of 500 IU product from 1,600 L cryo-poor plasma.

  • Quality characteristics of commercially available soybean and mung-bean flours in Korea were evaluated relative to product information such as bean content, price, chromaticity, proximate composition, water binding capacity, swelling power and solubility. Origin of raw materials was 23 in domestic products and 19 in imported products. The price of the product was 3.48 times more for raw soybean flour, 3.34 times more for fried soybean flour, and 3.47 times more for mung bean flour compared to imported soybean. In the domestic products, the lightness of raw soybean flour was higher than roasted soybean flour. The redness and yellowness of roasted soybean flour were higher than raw soybean flour. Moisture content of raw soybean flour was higher than roasted soybean flour, and crude fat, crude protein and carbohydrate content were higher in imported soybean flour. Ash and crude protein contents of mung bean were slightly higher than imported products. Water binding capacity of roasted soybean flour in domestic products was higher than raw soy flour, and there was no significant difference in solubility and swelling power. Correlation between quality characteristics of commercially available soybean and mung-bean flours products was found to be highly significant among measured items, except for solubility.

  • FT-IR, GC/MS, and ATR-FT-IR analyses were performed to confirm the physicochemical characteristics of saw palmetto fruit (SPF) extract. FT-IR analysis of the standard product showed that the band corresponding to the carbonyl bond of free fatty acid was stronger than the band of acyl-glyceride. Sample E was identified as having the same trend as the standard sample. Fatty acid composition analysis revealed that the main fatty acids in the standard sample were lauric acid and oleic acid. The content of lauric acid ranged from approximately 30% to 38% in samples B, C, D, and E, while the content of oleic acid ranged from approximately 29% to 34%. The GC/MS analysis confirmed that the standard SPF extract consisted of fatty acids and fatty acid ethyl esters. Sample E demonstrated a similar pattern to the standard samples in terms of oleic acid, lauric acid, and fatty acid esters. ATR-FT-IR analysis indicated that only sample E was predicted to contain 100% saw palmetto extract. Therefore, these study findings can be considered fundamental data for analyzing the physicochemical characteristics of the composition of SPF extract.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the characterization of the pyrolysis products of tobacco constituents such as cellulose, lignin and tobacco additives. The pyrolysis condition was designed to simulate the pyrolysis/distillation zone$(200\~600^{\circ}C)$ and combustion zone$(700\~950^{\circ}C)$of burning com in the smoking cigarette. The pyrolysis products were determined by GC/MS after pyrolysis using Double-Shot pyrolyzer. In the case of cellulose and lignin, the number of pyrolysis product in the condition that simulate the pyrolysis/distillation zone was much more than the combustion zone simulating one. The major products of cellulose were levoglucosan, furfural, and 1, 6-anhydro-$\beta$-D-glucofuranose and that of lignin were phenol, 2-methoxy phenol, and 1, 2-dimethoxy benzene. In the case of tobacco additives such as 2, 6-dimethyl pyrazine, maltol, and piperonal, the pyrolysis products of these additives were evaporated from the pyrolyszer at least $96\%$ intactly. These results indicate that tobacco constituents such as cellulose and lignin were thermally degraded at the pyrolysis/distillation zone and thoroughly broke down at the combustion zone, but tobacco additives were intactly evaporated from burning com of smoking cigarette.

  • An efficient evaluation method for the probability of a tornado missile strike without using the Monte Carlo method is proposed in this paper. A major part of the proposed probability evaluation is based on numerical results computed using an in-house code, Tornado-borne missile analysis code, which enables us to evaluate the liftoff and flight behaviors of unconstrained objects on the ground driven by a tornado. Using the Tornado-borne missile analysis code, we can obtain a stochastic correlation between local wind speed and flight distance of each object, and this stochastic correlation is used to evaluate the conditional strike probability, $Q_V(r)$, of a missile located at position r, where the local wind speed is V. In contrast, the annual exceedance probability of local wind speed, which can be computed using a tornado hazard analysis code, is used to derive the probability density function, p(V). Then, we finally obtain the annual probability of tornado missile strike on a structure with the convolutional integration of product of $Q_V(r)$ and p(V) over V. The evaluation method is applied to a simple problem to qualitatively confirm the validity, and to quantitatively verify the results for two extreme cases in which an object is located just in the vicinity of or far away from the structure.

  • The extraction properties of the biological waste originated from the Tobacco industry were evaluated. The biological waste have been recycled and transformed into a valuable material, so called a reconstituted tobacco sheet(Recon) by the papermaking process. In this process, The mechanical extraction process, which divides the mixed raw material slurry into the soluble stock and the insoluble stock, could affect not only the quality of final Recon product but also the productivity of whole Recon making process. This study investigated the effects of the extraction process on the slurry properties in detail. In order to quantify the amounts of the solubles which resided in the insoluble fibers, the washing treatment of the stock before and after squeezing process was applied. The amounts of the residual solubles showed little changes according to each stage of the extraction process. The fractionation of the slurry showed the difference in the amount of soluble in the stock depending on the size of the biological waste. After the extraction process, the bigger size fiber portion contained about 19%(by weight) in soluble after pressing but the smaller size fiber portion 9% in soluble. The fractionation ratio of the stocks also was changed by the screw press process, which could demonstrate the physical effects of the mechanical extraction.

  • This study was conducted to explore the antioxidant potential and functional value of guava (Psidium guajava L.) powder in muscle foods. Guava powder was used as a source of antioxidant dietary fibre in sheep meat nuggets at two different levels i.e., 0.5% (Treatment I) and 1.0% (Treatment II) and its effect was evaluated against control. Guava powder is rich in dietary fibre (43.21%), phenolics (44.04 mg GAE/g) and possesses good radical scavenging activity as well as reducing power. Incorporation of guava powder resulted in significant decrease (p<0.05) in pH of emulsion and nuggets, emulsion stability, cooking yield and moisture content of nuggets while ash and moisture content of emulsion were increased. Total phenolics, total dietary fibre (TDF) and ash content significantly increased (p<0.05) in nuggets with added guava powder. Product redness value was significantly improved (p<0.05) due to guava powder. Textural properties did not differ significantly except, springiness and shear force values. Guava powder was found to retard lipid peroxidation of cooked sheep meat nuggets as measured by TBARS number during refrigerated storage. Guava powder did not affect sensory characteristics of the products and can be used as source of antioxidant dietary fibre in meat foods.
