Cellulose Nitrate의 알파입자비적특성(粒子飛跡特性) (Characteristics of Alpha Particle Track on Cellulose Nitrate Film)

  • Cellulose nitrate 의 ${\alpha}$입자비적특성(粒子飛跡特性), 특(特)히 화학부식조건(化學腐蝕條件)에 따른 ${\alpha}$입자(粒子)의 비적직경(飛跡直徑)을 중심(中心)으로 연구(硏究)하였다. Cellulose nitrate의 KOH 용액부식(溶液腐蝕)때에는 동일(同一)한 부식조건하에(腐蝕條件下)에서 NaOH 경우보다 ${\alpha}$비적직경(飛跡直徑)이 약(約) 3배(培) 크게 나타났다. 그밖에 부식시간(腐蝕時間) 및 ${\alpha}$입자(粒子)의 에너지에 따른 비적직경(飛跡直徑)의 데이타를 얻었고, ${\alpha}$입자(粒子)의 조사조건(照射條件)이 같을 때 흘루언스율(率)(fluence rate)이 부식시간(腐蝕時間)에 무관(無關)함을 알았다.

가식성 코팅물질을 이용한 포도의 저장성 연장 연구 (Study on the Extending Storage Life of Grape by Applying Edible Coating Materials)

  • 포도의 가식성 코팅물질로 methyl cellulose에 별도로 미생물 생육억제 효과가 있는 n-capric acid isopropyl ester와 sodium nitrate를 spray한 다음 EPS(expanded polystylene) tray에 0.05mm PE(polyetlylene) 필름으로 wrapping한 후 $30^{\circ}C$에서 16일간 저장하면서 품질을 분석하였다. 중량감소율에서 상품가치를 잃게 되는 7%수준이 되는 시점이 대조구는 6일인 반면 methyl cellulose+n-capric acid isopropyl ester처리구는 9일로 차이를 보였다. 대조구의 산도는 처리구에 비하여 저장기간이 길어짐에 따라서 감소율이 높게 나타났다. Vitamin C 함량의 경우 대조구는 저장초기에 비하여 저장 16일 후 68.4% 감소한 반면 methyl cellulose + sodium nitrate와 methyl cellulose + n-capric acid isopropyl ester 처리구는 각각 51.5와 49.8%의 감소를 나타내었다. 경도변화로는 대조구가 가장 크게 감소하여 저장 16일째 초기에 비하여 44.2% 감소한 반면 methyl cellulose + sodium nitrate와 methyl cellulose + n-capric acid isopropyl ester 처리구는 각각 26.5와 23.2%로 나타나 큰 차이를 보였다. 저장기간 중 sodium nitrate와 n-capric acid isopropyl ester 처리가 총균수와 효모수의 억제에 효과가 있었으며 관능검사의 기호도에서는 methyl cellulose 처리구보다 methyl cellulose + sodium nitrate 처리구와 methyl cellulose + n-capric acid isopropyl ester 처리구가 높게 나타났다.

  • A cellulose acetate membrane containing silver nitrate was prepared by gelatinizing in water at $2^{\circ}C$ after evaporating solvent from the casting solution on a glass plate. Permeation experiments for oxygen and nitrogen were conducted in the ranges of temperature, $5-40^{\circ}C$ and pressure difference, $1-5kg/cm^2$ in order to investigate the effects of temperature and pressure difference on permeation characteristics of the membrane. When the evaporation time was increased, the permeability of oxygen decreased but the separation factor of oxygen against nitrogen increased since a more dense layer was formed on the membrane surface. When the silver nitrate was added, the permeation flux was doubled and the separation factor was improved from 3.0 to 3.3. This implies that silver nitrate acts as an oxygen carrier in the membrane.

개질된 Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron을 이용한 질산성질소 처리 (Removal of Nitrate by modified Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron)

  • A Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron(NZVI) was modified to build a reactor system to treat nitrate. Shell layer of the NZVI was modified by slow exposure of the iron surface to air flow, which produced NZVI particles that are resistant to aerial oxidation. A XANES (X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Structure) analysis revealed that the shell consists of magnetite ($Fe_3O_4$) dominantly. The shell-modified NZVI(0.5 g NZVI/ 120 mL) was able to degrade more than 95% of 30 mg/L of nitrate within $30 hr^{-1}$ ( pseudo first-order rate constant($k_{SA}$) normalzed to NZVI surface area ($17.96m^2/g$) : $0.0050L{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$). Ammonia occupied about 90% of degradation products of nitrate. Nitrate degradation efficiencies increased with the increase of NZVI dose generally. Initial pH values of the reactor systems at 4, 7, and 10 did not affect nitrate removal rate and final pH values of all experiments were near 12. Nitrate removal experiments by using the shell-modified NZVI immobilized on a cellulose acetate (CA) membrane were also conducted. The nitrate removal efficiency of the CA membrane supported NZVI ($k_{SA}=0.0036L{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$) was less than that of the NZVI slurries($k_{SA}=0.0050L{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$), which is probably due to less surface area available for reduction and to kinetic retardation by nitrate transport through the CA membrane. The detachment of the NZVI from the CA membrane was minimal and impregnation of up to 1 g of NZVI onto 1 g of the CA membrane was found feasible.

  • Wood chips of oak(Quercus mongolica) and larch(Larix leptolepis) were exploded with the optimum condition. Main components of exploded wood were separated with hot hot water and methanol. The hemicelluloses were purified from hot water extracts and alditol complexs were prepared from purified hemicellulose. And also, cellulose nitrate was prepared from extractive residue and characterized. The results can be summarized as follows. 1. Amounts of carbohydrate(72~79%) in the crude hemicellulose of larch wood was more than those of oak wood(55~66%). 2. The crude hemicelluloses were mainly composed of oligosaccharides in oak wood but those in larch wood contained about 50% monosaccharides. 3. Decolorization of hemicellulose was successful with activated charcoal and ion-exchange resin treatment. The alditol yields were 56.3~82.9%. 4. The degree of substitution(D.S.) of cellulose nitrate was 1.95~2.87 and it showed a good acetone solubility.

  • 알파입자 검출을 위한 고체 비적 검출기인 CA 8-15와 LR 115-1은 그 부식조건이 검출기 제조 회사에서 이미 주어지고는 있으나 이들 검출기에 대한 최적부식에 관한 실험적 검토를 다시 행하였는바 최적부식시간에 현저한 차이가 있음을 발견하였다. 검출기의 방사선 조사는 이미 설정된 기하학적 배치조건하에서 $0.1{\mu}Ci$수준의 $^{241}Am$ 알파선원으로 수행하였다. 부식시간과 용액 농도의 함수로서의 비적크기에 대한 분석과 검출기에 검출된 단위면적당 비적의 이론적 기대치에 대한 비교 조사를 행하였으며, 입사 알파입자의 유효 에너지에 대한 검출효율의 변화에 대해서도 연구하였다.

Homogeneously Dispersed Silver Nanoparticles on the Honeycomb-Patterned Poly(N-vinylcarbazole)-cellulose triacetate Composite Thin Films by the Photoreduction of Silver Nitrate

  • The photocontrolled reduction of silver nitrate to silver (Ag) nanoparticles on honeycomb-patterned poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK)-cellulose triacetate (CTA) composite thin films was studied. The composites were prepared via the oxidative polymerization of N-vinylcarbazole with ferric chloride using different CTA concentrations. A honeycomb-patterned film was fabricated by casting the composite solution under humid conditions. Ag particles with a homogeneous distribution were produced by the composite film in a moderate CTA concentration, whereas aggregated Ag was obtained from the pure PVK film.

Remediation Groundwater contaminated with Nitrate and Phosphate using Micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration

  • The drinking water industry faces a growing number of difficultiesin the treatment of groundwater for drinking water production. Groundwater sources are frequently contaminated with nitrates and phosphates due to usage of chemical fertilizer In this study, feasibility of micellar enhanced ultrafiltation (MEUF) was investigated to remediate groundwater contaminated with nitrate and phosphate. Ultrafiltration membrane was cellulose acetate with molecular weight cut off (MWCO) 10,000 and celtyl pyridinium chloride (CPC) was used to form pollutant-micelle complex with nitrate and phosphate. The results show that nitrate and phosphate rejections are satisfactory. The removal efficiency of nitrate and phosphate show 80% and 84% in single pollutant system, respectively with 3 molar ratio of CPC to pollutants. In the multi-pollutant systems, the removalefficiency increased to 90 % and 89 % for nitrate and phosphate, respectively, The presence of nitrate in the solutions did not affect the removal of phosphate and that of phosphate did not affect the removal of nitrate. The concentration of CPC in the permeate and removal efficiency of CPC was a function of the concentration of CPC in the feed solutions.

Microcrystalline cellulose에 자유 라디칼을 이용한 methyl methacrylate의 그래프팅 반응과 이를 이용한 천연복합필름의 제조 (Grafting of MMA onto MCC through free radical method and its application to all natural cellulose composite film preparation)

  • Methyl methacrylate(MMA) was grafted onto microcrystalline cellulose(MCC) with ceric ammonium nitrate(CAN) as a redox initiator at the various conditions. The cellulose triacetate(CTA) composite films added MCC and MMA-grafted MCC powders were prepared on a glass plate. The graft yield(GY) and graft efficiency(GE) of the grafted MCC were calculated with the simple equations by the weight balance method. The double bond of C=O on the grafted MCC surfaces was confirmed by the fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflection(FT-IT ATR) spectrophotometer. After grafting, the degree of crystallinity of cellulose powders was decresed by judging from x-ray diffraction(XRD) data. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) photos showed the only solvent and CAN solution could change the roughness of MCC powders and the effect of powder dispersions in composite matrix. The tensile strength of MCC/CTA composite films was decreased with increase of MCC powder contents. When 5% grafted MCC was added, the tensile strength of grafted MCC/CTA composite films was increased from 82.3 MPa to 97.2 MPa. The thermal property of powders was also analyzed by the thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).

19~20세기 생활민속자료에 사용된 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트의 강화와 접착 연구 (Consolidation and Adhesion of Cellulose Nitrate of Folklore Artifacts in the 19~20th Century)

  • 19~20세기 생활민속자료(갓끈 장식, 구슬 및 대롱, 안경테, 안경집 장식, 망건 풍잠 및 관자, 저고리 단추 등)에 사용된 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트는 열화에 의해 균열과 미세 균열이 일어나 부서지고 있다. 균열에 의해 부서진 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트 생활민속자료의 보존을 위해 수용성 아크릴 에멀젼 접착제 4종에 대해 강화와 접착을 평가하였다. 강화처리를 위한 저농도의 아크릴 에멀젼의 점도는 Plextol D 498이 가장 낮았다. 그리고 유리전이온도(Tg)가 상온이하의 접착제 필름은 인장응력과 탄성률은 감소하고 변형률은 증가하여 유연성이 높았다. 인공 태양광 가속 열화 후에는 Plextol D 498과 Primal AC 35 필름은 접착력과 유연성을 유지하였고, Plextol D 498과 Dispersion K 52는 황변이 거의 일어나지 않아, Plextol D 498이 가속 열화에 가장 안정적이었다. 저농도 아크릴 에멀젼의 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트로의 침투성은 Plextol D 498이 가장 우수하였다. Plextol D 498 에멀젼을 사용하여 열화에 의해 부서진 갓끈의 중앙장식에 대한 보존처리는 저농도로(1%, 3%) 수 회 강화처리 후 고농도로(20%) 조각을 접착하여, 열화에 의해 부서지는 현상을 막을 수 있었고 접착이 잘 유지되었다. 보존처리 후 산소와 수분으로 부터의 열화를 막기 위해, 저습도용 탈산소제와 함께 산소 차단 필름으로 밀봉하였다.
