Seawater Quality And Red Tides In Jinhae Bay:I. Relationships Between Water Quality Parameters And Red Tides

  • To carry out baseline studies on monitoring systems for red tides in Jinhae bay, measurements and analyses were made on seawater samples from 15 sampling stations during 15 months from July, 1979. Water quality parameters studied are temperature, pH, DO, salinity, COD, SS, NO$\sub$3/, NO$\sub$2/, PO$\sub$4/, SiO$\sub$2/, Ca, Mg, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Chlorophyll ${\alpha}$, diatoms and dinoflagellates. Multiple regression analyses were undertaken with chlorophyll ${\alpha}$, cell numbers of diatoms and dinoflagellates as the dependent variables and water quality parameters as the independent variables. The results showed that biomass, expressed as total cell numbers of diatoms and dinoflagellates, was largely influenced by COD, salinity and nutrients.

A newly developed consensus polymerase chain reaction to detect Mycoplasma species using 16S ribosomal RNA gene

  • Mycoplasmas are highly fastidious bacteria, difficult to culture and slow growing. Infections with Mycoplasma species can cause a variety of problems in living organisms and in vitro cell cultures. In this study, we investigated the usefulness of a genus-specific consensus PCR analysis method to detect Mycoplasma species. The developed consensus primer pairs MycoF and MycoR were designed specifically to amplify the 16S ribosomal RNA gene (rRNA) of Mycoplasma species by the optimized PCR system. The developed consensus PCR system effectively amplified 215 bp of Mycoplasma genus-specific region of 16S rRNA. In conclusion, we recommend this consensus PCR for monitoring Mycoplasma species in animals, human and cell culture system.

Tumor therapy with Amanita phalloides (Death Cap): stabilization of mammary duct cancer

  • Molecular events that cause tumor formation enhance a number of HOX genes, called switch genes, coding for RNApolymeraseII transcription factors. Thus, in tumor cells, RNApolymeraseII is more active than in other somatic cells. Amanita phalloides contains amanitin which inhibits RNApolymeraseII. Partial inhibition with amanitin influences tumor cell - but not normal cell - activity. To widen the treatment spectrum, dilutions of Amanita phalloides, containing amanitin, are applied to a patient with mammary duct cancer. For monitoring tumormarkers, different doses of amanitin are applied. The former duplication time of tumor growth represented three months; however within a period of 18 months the patient can be stabilized without further growth of the tumor. There are also no severe symptoms, no liver damage and no continuous erythrocyte deprivation. This new principle of tumor therapy shows high potential to provide a medical treatment.

  • This paper present the performance evaluation of PV systems installed at Tibet area of China in order to identity the key factors that determines system operation at a severe climate conditions and promote the cooperation of PV technology between Korea and China. The installed systems consist of 100kW on-grid connected PV systems, BOS(balance of systems), data acquisition and transmission equipments. The Korea side supplied the solar cell, BOS like as inverter, control box and monitoring system. And the Chinese side assembled solar module, constructed site and built control house. It has been shown that the average radiation per monthly from Tibet is 1.5 times larger than that from Mokpo. Also, radiation time from Tibet is 2hour higher than that from Korea.

  • In this paper, It proposes that solar cell monitoring system using ubiquitous technique, solar cells development system occurs the attrition at the same time in several segments. This is the reason why, whole damage is also looked greatly increased inclination. Therefore, we progress study that find out damage factor by element and are more deeply about loss reduction by element part hereafter. Also, efficiency of solar photovoltaics system can be improved. we wish to forecast efficiency decrease of solar photovoltaics using neural network algorithm. Experiment result hereafter, We will expect to be remote management of solar cell.

  • A convenient bioassay of nerve growth factor(NGF) is essential for assessing its potency during the course of product development and quality controls afterwards. We have set up a cell-based bioassay for determining the potency of recombinant NGF using rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells.   • 최근 에너지/환경의 문제로 HEV(Hybrid Electric Vehicle)이 대두되고 있는데, HEV를 위한 대표적인 기술로서 제동시 에너지로 발전하여 전기를 회수하는 회생제동이 있다. 회생제동기술은 HEV 뿐만 아니라 건설기기, 하이브리드 버스, 전철, 엘리베이터 등에 폭넓게 활용이 가능하다. 회생제동용 에너지 저장원으로서는 고출력 및 환경특성이 우수한 슈퍼캐패시터가 적합하며, 단일 셀이 아닌 수십 ~ 수백 개의 셀이 모듈로 사용되는 만큼, 모듈화 설계 기술이 필요 하다. 수백 개의 셀을 모듈화하기 위해서 개별 셀의 전압을 모니터링 하는 기술과 충방전 시 밸렌싱 하는 기술, 사용환경에 따라 열 관리 기술이 필요하며, 이들 기능을 수행할 수 있는 통합 시스템을 구비하여 안정성과 성능 향상을 하고자 한다.

  • Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common type of human cancer worldwide. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common cancer of the head and neck. Since $^{18}F-FDG$ PET is very sensitive to detecting squamous cell carcinoma, it has been widely used in patients with head and neck cancers for initial staging, management of recurrent cancers, and therapeutic monitoring. According to clinical research data, $^{18}F-FDG$ PET is expected to be a very helpful diagnostic tool in the management of head and neck cancer.

  • In contrast to conventional CNC, PC-NC opens a new era for machine tools to be more intelligent. For instance, machine tool with PC-NC can be a machine agent system with capability of reacting autonomously to changing operating conditions. This paper introduces a concept of intelligent machine agent system, composed of machine agent and cell manager. Machine agent performs the functions such as process monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance management, condition assessment and schedule negotiation, while cell manager coordinates the negotiation process among multiple machine agents.

  • This study was designed to assess effect of MUN concentration on reproduction performance and monitoring of feeding and fertility management in commercial dairy herd. The mean of milk yield is 26.48±8.38㎏ per day, milk fat 3.80±0.58%, protein 3.13±0.3% MUN 16.68±5.87㎎/㎖ and somatic cell 392,000±77,060㎖. Milk yield has been shown that negative correlation with fat, protein and somatic cell(P〈0.01). The finding of this study was significant relationship between non-pregnant days and MUN concentration.
