EFFECT OF THE NUMBER OF ACTIVE SOURCES ON ABR BUFFER SIZE

  • Rate-based flow control plays an important role for efficient traffic management of Available Bit Rate(ABR) services. We deal with the problem of the buffer dimension for rate-based ABR control. In this paper, we analyze the Allowed Cell Rate(ACR) of a source and the queue size in a steady state. First, we investigate the effect of the number of active sources on the behavior of the ACR and the maximum queue size. Reflecting the effect of this real scenes, we determine the optimal buffer size and buffer threshold. Furthermore, our analytic results are compared with the case when the effect of the number of active sources is disregarded.

  • For positive integers $n_i \geq 2, i = 1, 2, 3, 4$, such that $\Sigma \frac{n_i}{1} < 2$, there exists a quadrilateral $P = P_1 P_2 P_3 P_4$ in the hyperbolic plane $H^2$ with the interior angle $\frac{n_i}{\pi}$ at $P_i$. Let $\Gamma \subset Isom(H^2)$ be the (discrete) group generated by reflections in each side of $P$. Then the quotient space $H^2/\gamma$ is a differentiable orbifold of type $(^* n_1 n_2 n_3 n_4)$. It will be shown that the deformation space of $Rp^2$-structures on this orbifold can be mapped continuously and bijectively onto the cell of dimension 4 - \left$\mid$ {i$\mid$n_i = 2} \right$\mid$$.

  • 영상공간에서의 역 해프토닝 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 정확한 해프톤 셀 정보를 기반으로 최적의 평활화 마스크가 생성되어야 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는, 퓨리에 공간에서 피크형태와 영상공간에서의 해프토닝 특성을 이용해서 정확한 해프톤 셀 정보를 추출하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 차원분해(dimension decomposition)와 제한된 구간의 자동 탐색에 의해 정확한 해프톤 셀 정보를 효율적으로 추출하므로 역 해프토닝의 성능을 향상 시키며, 전체 영상에서 오차의 누적없이 셀 중심(seed pixel)을 정확하게 찾는 것을 실험을 통해 확인하였다. 정확한 해프톤 셀 정보는 셀 단위의 연산이나 해프톤 영상의 채널 분리 및 모아레 패턴의 존재 여부 판정 시 활용할 수 있다.

  • Using electrocardiography is a common method to diagnose heart disease, Modeling and simulation of activation process for the heart system is useful to understand electrocardiography. This paper proposes a two-dimensional cellular automata model for the activation process of the ventricles. The model represents the geometry of the ventricles by the ellipsoidal shape in two dimension. In the model, ventricles are divided into four layers, each of which has a set of cells with preassigned properties. The proposed model takes Into account the local orientation of the myocardial fibers and their distributed velocity, and refractory period. Simulation experiment is performed to measure activation potential for each cell in each layer within the ventricles.

  • The program which could determine cross-sectional dimension of the prestressed concrete box girder bridges at the stage of preliminary design was developed using the optimal technique in this study. It could minimize the cost required in the design of box girder bridges and the construction with the full staging method. Objective cost function consisted of six independent variables such as height of cross-section, jacking force and thickness of web and bottom flange. The SUMT(Sequntial Unconstrained minimization Technique) was used to solve the constrained nonlinear minimization optimal problem. Using the program developed in this study, optimum design was performed for existing bridges with one cell cross section of constant depth. The result verify the compatibility of the program.

육방정 페라이트의 S-block 구조에 대한 연구 (A Study on the S-block Structure in Hexagonal Ferrites)

  • It is compared the structures of the S-block in the Ba-Co-Zn Y-type hexagonal ferrites (Ba2Co2-xZnxFe12O22, x=0~2) and the Co-Zn spinel ferrites (Co1-xZnxFe2O4, x=0~1) expressed by a hexagonal axis system (space group R3m). The structures have been refined with a Rietveld analysis of the powder X-ray diffraction pattern with high precision (Rwp<0.13, RI<0.03). The overal dimension of the S-block is slightly different from the 1/3 of a hexagonal spinel unit cell as follow: 1.6~2.0% longer c-axis, 1.3~1.6% shorter a-axis and about 1% smaller volume. Upto Zn:Co=1:1 in the Ba-Co-Zn Y-type hexagonal ferrites, the zinc substitute primarily the tetrahedral sites in the S-block. Beyond that the zinc seems to go into the T-block as well.

  • We present the required handover capacity of personal communication service exchange(PCX). We use the flow-based mobility model. The dimension of PCX area and the number of radio port controller(RPC) in a PCX are determined according to the traffic carrying capacity of switching system and RPC. For the rectangular or square-shaped PCX/RPC area and the personal communication service environment with pedestrian traffic, we perform numerical computations to investigate the sensitivity to cell size, portable station(PS) terminating traffic, its density, and its average speed. The results how that the size of PCX/RPC area decreases as the PS terminating traffic and the PS density increase, and the PCX handover capacity required is more than 73,000 in the number of transactions per hour.

  • To utilize the uranium resources contained in the spent nuclear fuel generated from the nuclear power plants, the remote handling and dismantling technology is required. The dismantling process of the sport fuel is the most common process involved in the spent fuel recycling, the rod consolidation and the disposal processes. Since the machine used in the dismantling process are located and operated in isolated space, so called a hot cell, the reliability of machines is very important. To enhance the reliability of the process, in this research, the graphical monitoring system is developed for the fuel dismantling process. The graphic model of each machine is composed of many parts and every parts of the graphic model are given their own kinematics. Killian-Jamieson diverticulum lined with two epithelia in a Korean cadaver

  • Killian-Jamieson diverticulum is a permanent protrusion of anterolateral proximal esophagus through anatomically weak muscular gap, known as Killian-Jamieson area, into adjacent area. During a routine educational dissection, we found a well-defined lateral diverticulum just inferior to the transverse fibers of the cricopharyngeus muscle in a Korean male cadaver. It had a dimension of $1.8{\times}1.4{\times}1.0cm$ with two types of epithelial cells, stratified squamous and simple cuboidal to low-columnar epithelium, and attenuated and haphazardly arranged muscle fibers. No epithelial dysplasia or malignant transformation was identified except ulcerative changes. Although Killian-Jamieson diverticulum is a very rare disease, clinicopathological aspects should be considered.

  • 최근 생명 공학 기술의 발달로 마이크로 단위의 실험이 가능해지고 하나의 칩상에 수 만개의 유전자들의 발현 양상을 보다 쉽게 관찰할 수 있게 되었다. DNA 칩 기술에 의해 얻어지는 마이크로어레이(microarray) 데이터는 세포나 조직 내의 유전자 발현도(expression level)를 측정한 것으로 질병 진단이나 유전자 기능 예측 등에 이용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 대량의 시계열 마이크로어레이 데이터 분석을 위해 효율적으로 데이터의 차원을 판단하는 점진적 주성분 분석을 이용하여 데이터의 차원을 축소 한다. 제안된 방법은 실제 시계열 마이크로어레이 데이터인 yeast cell cycle 데이터에 적용되었고, 데이터 차원 축소에 대한 효율성을 검증하기 위해 클러스터링을 수행하였다. 그 결과 데이터를 축소하여 클러스터링을 수행한 경우 학습 성능이 향상 된 결과를 보였다.
