In this paper, floor impact noise reduction in a steel structure is studied. A mock-up is built by using 6t steel plate, and two identical cabins are made where 25t panel is used to construct wall and ceiling inside the steel structure. Various floating floor systems are tested for which normalized impact noise is measured according to ISO 140-7. In addition, floor SBN(Structure-borne Noise) and floor damping are measured to study the effect of floating floor. structure. It is shown that VL(Visco-elastic Layer) is more effective when hard plates are added above the VL.

As remodeling market is growing and peoples' concern on health and well-being is getting high, there is a need to apply environmentally friendly approach to remodeling an apartment houses. But, in point of the impact noise concerned, the thickness of the concrete slab and the limited ceiling height of the remodelling houses are the main constraints to improve the impact noise performance. In order to investigate the effect of the impact noise isolation as structural treatments for the structural elements, heavy-weight impact noise and tapping noise were measured in an remodeling building. As a result, structural strengthening method by H-beam was successful to enhance the impact noise level at about 3 or 4 class by the sound classification system.
To control the floor noise generated in the apartment building, a method of reinforcing the floor at the floor is applied. However, since existing buildings are difficult to reinforce upper generations, the ceilings of lower generations should be reinforced. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reduction effect by measuring the impact noise after reinforcing the floor soundproofing material on the ceiling of the existing building. In order to ensure the economical efficiency and flame retardancy of the products used as building interior materials, the existing polyurethane foam was impregnated with mineral to prepare test specimens and attached to the concrete slab surface. As a result, it was shown that heavy impact sound can reduce 2dB~5dB and light impact sound can reduce 4~8dB.
With the trend of large-sized ship in Korea, recently several hundreds of thousands of U-bolts for a year have been used as a pipe fastener In this paper, we have evaluated the strength for present U-bolt structure by pipe supporting conditions(deck, ceiling and wall mounting type) For this purpose, the equivalent and bending stresses have been calculated by linear elastic analysis using the finite element program ABAQUS. At the same time, a variety of load conditions such as design pressure, weight effect and acceleration are also considered.
Non-structural elements, such as equipment, are typically affixed to a building's floor or ceiling and move in tandem with the structure during an earthquake. Seismic forces acting upon non-structural elements traverse the ground and the building's structure. Considering this seismic load transmission mechanism, it becomes imperative to account for the interactions between soil, structure, and equipment, establishing seismic design procedures accordingly. In this study, a Soil-Structure-Equipment Interaction (SSEI) model is developed. Through seismic response analysis using this model, how the presence or absence of SSEI impacts equipment behavior is examined. Neglecting the SSEI aspect when assessing equipment responses results in an overly conservative evaluation of its seismic response. This emphasizes the necessity of proposing an analytical model and design methodology that adequately incorporate the interaction effect. Doing so enables the calculation of rational seismic forces and facilitates the seismic design of non-structural elements.

Foreign students in South Korea face important challenges when they try to maintain their health. As a measure of their motivation to actively build skills for overcoming those challenges, we evaluated the 10-item Consumer Health Activation Index (CHAI), testing its feasibility, dimensionality, and reliability. There were no missing data, there was no floor effect, and for the total scores the ceiling effect was trivial (< 2%). Results of the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test and Bartlett's test of sphericity indicated that the data were suitable for the detection of structure by factor analysis. The results of parallel analysis and the shape of the scree plot supported a two-factor solution. One factor had 3 items concerning "my doctor" and the other factor had the 7 remaining items. Reliability was high for the 10-item CHAI (alpha = 0.856), for the 3-item subscale (alpha = 0.838), and for the 7-item subscale (alpha = 0.857). Reliability could not be improved by deletion of any items. Use of the CHAI to gather data from these foreign students is feasible, and reliable results can be obtained whether one uses the total score from all 10 items or scores from the proposed 7-item and 3-item subscales.
The characteristics of moisture ventilation in a dry room were studied numerically The effect of three important parameters: position of outlets, aspect ratio($\beta$) of horizontal plane and air exchange rate(N), was analyzed by using the scales of ventilation efficiency. The ventilation performance was evaluated by varying the aspect ratio and air exchange rate in the four types of outlet position. It was shown that the ventilation performance was improved by decreasing the aspect ratio in the longitudinal arrangement of outlet. The highest ventilation performance was determined when $\beta$ was 4 in the transverse arrangement of outlet. Regardless of the aspect ratio, the ceiling arrangement of outlet played more dominant effect on the ventilation efficiency than the floor arrangement. In every type and aspect ratio, the increase of air exchange rate to improve ventilation performance was appropriate up to N=60 /h.
The natural convection and combined heat transfer induced by fire in a rectangular enclosure is numerically studied. The model for this numerical analysis is partially opened, it is divided by a vertical baffle projecting from ceiling. The solution procedure Includes the standard k- $\varepsilon$ model for turbulent flow and the discrete ordinates method (DOM ) is used for the calculation of radiative heat transfer equation. In this study, numerical simulation on the combined naturnal convection and radiation is carried out in a partial enclosure filled with absorbed-emitted gray media, but is not considered scattering problem. The velocity vectors, streamlines, and isothermal lines are compared the results of pure convection with those of the combined convection-radiation, the combined heat transfer. Comparing the results of pure convection with those of the combined convection-radiation, the combined heat transfer analysis shows the stronger circulation than those of the pure convection. Three different locations of heat source are considered to observe the effect of heat source location on the heat transfer phenomena. As the results, the circulation and the heat transfer In the left region from heating block are much more influenced than those in the right region. It is also founded that the radiation effect cannot be neglected in analyzing the building in fire.
