Purpose - This study strives to discern trends in research productivity in the Journal of Consumer Behavior. It will identify prolific authors and institutions in articles over ten years (2004-2013). Research design, data, and methodology - The Journal of Consumer Behavior was chosen and articles over ten years were analyzed. Research productivity was determined by categorizing the data into four themes: number of authors per article, author affiliated institutions, a list of prolific authors over a ten-year period, and author-affiliated countries. Results - Authors have a propensity to collaborate on a research paper, yielding a high frequency of articles with two or three authors in a single publication. In addition, author and institution productivity was highest in North America and Europe. Conclusions - The research productivity of the Journal of Consumer Behavior is unprecedented. The trends and insights from this study will allow academics in the area of consumer behavior to observe leading authors and institutions. Moreover, speculations about the leading countries and institutions, not to mention top prolific authors in consumer behavior, will be elucidated in this study.

This paper suggests a typology of the modes of collaboration for scientific and technological knowledge production and sharing (STKPS) based on knowledge communication types, including organizational factors, communication channel, intensity, and decision-making, that affect STKPS processes. It is mainly designed to rearrange ideas about collaboration drawn from the literature in order to develop a conceptual framework for categorizing modes of collaboration based on how communication patterns shape four modes of collaboration. In the conclusion and discussion part, practical implications, limitations of this study, and further studies are discussed. In particular, the practical implications propose communication patterns suitable for five stages of collaboration processes. As the collaboration initiation or set-up stage is critical, extensive face-to-face communication is recommended in the auditing stage. In the execution stage, media-based communication can be actively utilized, because collaborators will mostly exchange explicit codified knowledge supported by IT. The evaluation and reinforcement stages concentrate on tacit knowledge exchange and explicit knowledge evaluation, which requires intensive face-to-face communication including negotiations for evaluating collaboration outcomes and partnership.

Ganglion cysts are benign soft tissues usually encountered in the wrist. In this paper, we propose a method to extract a ganglion cyst region from ultrasonography images by using image segmentation. The proposed method using the possibilistic c-means (PCM) clustering method is applicable to ganglion cyst extraction. The methods considered in this thesis are fuzzy stretching, median filter, PCM clustering, and connected component labeling. Fuzzy stretching performs well on ultrasonography images and improves the original image. Median filter reduces the speckle noise without decreasing the image sharpness. PCM clustering is used for categorizing pixels into the given cluster centers. Connected component labeling is used for labeling the objects in an image and extracting the cyst region. Further, PCM clustering is more robust in the case of noisy data, and the proposed method can extract a ganglion cyst area with an accuracy of 80% (16 out of 20 images).

인터넷 진자 상거래 기술의 급속한 발달에 따라 최근 온라인 경매에 대한 많은 관심과 개발이 이루어지고 있다. 인터넷 상에서 사용자는 원하는 물품을 경매로 구입하기 위해서 여러 경매 사이트를 옮겨다니며 경매 물품정보를 모니터링 함으로써 시간의 낭비와 반복적인 수작업으로 인한 비효율성이 발생한다. 또, 구매자가 구매물품에 대한 가격 정보가 부족한 경우 입찰액을 결정하기가 쉽지 않으며 낙찰가 또한 예상하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 3단계 카테고리 방식을 이용한 적정 낙찰가를 제시해 줌으로써 구매자가 입찰가격을 정하는데 있어 참고자료로써 도움이 될 수 있으며 부적당한 가격에 상품을 구매하거나 경매가 유찰되는 것을 피할 수 있어서 보다 효율적인 경매를 할 수 있도록 도와준다. 본 시스템은 카테고리별로 나누어진 상품에 따라 다양한 가격결정방식을 사용하여 적정 낙찰가를 산출하는 경매 에이전트를 설계하고, 또한 몇 가지 사례를 통해 상품의 특성에 따른 적정 낙찰가를 제시한다.

PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to analyze factors affecting traffic accident severity for determining countermeasures on freeway climbing lanes. METHODS : In this study, an ordered probit model, which is a widely used discrete choice model for categorizing crash severity, was employed. RESULTS : Results suggest that factors affecting traffic accident severity on climbing lanes include speed, drowsy driving, grade of uphill 3%, gender (male offender and male victim), and cloud weather. CONCLUSIONS : Several countermeasures are proposed for improving traffic safety on freeway climbing lanes based on the analysis of crash severity. More extensive analysis with a larger data set and various modeling techniques are required for generalizing the results.

For a quick and accurate 3D modelling of a building, laser scanning data, digital maps, aerial photographs and satellite images should be fusioned. Moreover, library establishment according to a standard structure of a building and effective texturing method are required in order to determine the structure of a building. In this study, we made a standard library by categorizing Korean village forms and presented a model that can predict a structure of a building from a shape of the roof on an aerial photo image. We made an ortho image using the high-definition digital image and considerable amount of ground scanning point cloud and mapped this image. These methods enabled a more quick and accurate building modelling.

The purpose of the study is to suggest a methodology for properly categorizing the body type of Koreans based on the multivariate statistical analysis. Anthropometric data used in the study were measured from the sampled strata of about fifteen thousand Koreans surveyed through the 5th national anthropometic data measurement project called Size Korea funded by ATS, Korea, during 2003-2004. In order to categorize whole body types, the normalized anthropometric variables, being divided by its stature, were used for obtaining a set of factors that supposedly represent body types through the factor analysis. These factors, which were again clustered, yielded the body types according to the gender. The body types classified are expected to be applied to product design for clothing, furniture, automobile packaging, etc.

The main purpose of this paper is to develop a Delphi Decision Support System based on the web, which can improve the conventional Delphi method. Among major drawbacks of the conventional Delphi methods are cost and efforts to distribute and collect the questionnaire by the regular mail and the tardiness in collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and reporting the result of the questionnaire. With the proposed Delphi Decision Support System, the moderator sends the e-mail to invite the member of panels so that they may visit the homepage of the Delphi Decision Support System. When the panelists input their opinions about the issues, the Delphi Decision Support System analyzes the inputs and reports the result without delay. To implement the Delphi Decision Support System, we integrated Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, jdbcKona/MS SQLServer 4 JDBC driver, and Java Development Kit 1.2

This study is to suggest plans that can make service quality and consumer satisfaction high in internet shopping mall , categorizing the determinants of service quality of Internet shopping mall and analysing determinants of service quality which can give much effect on consumer satisfaction. Using the survey method, the study gathered data from 115 consumers and students with purchasing experience on the web. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was computed to assess the reliability of the responses to all instruments and factor analyses were performed to determine construct validity. Multiple regression was employed to test the hypotheses of this study. According to our findings, the determinants of service quality which influences consumer satisfaction are tangibles, responsiveness, problem solving and security. Several implications of the study are provided in the paper.

In this paper, we present indoor localization technologies using the bluetooth signal categorizing them into proximity based, triangulation based and fingerprinting based technologies. Then we provide localization accuracy improvement algorithms such as moving average, K-means, particle filter, and K-Nearest neighbor algorithms. We define important performance issues for indoor localization technologies and analyze recent technologies according to the performance issues. Finally we provide experimental results for correlation between RSSI and distance. We believe that this paper provide wise view and necessary information for recent localization technologies using the bluetooth signal.
