The effects of H2O and residue SO2 in flue gases on the activity of the Fe/zeolite catalysts for low-temperature NH3-SCR of NO were investigated. And the addition effect of Mn, Zr and Ce to Fe/zeolite for low-temperature NH3-SCR of NO in the presence of H2O and SO2 was investigated. Fe/zeolite catalysts were prepared by liquid ion exchange and promoted Fe/zeolite catatysts were prepared by liquid ion exchange and doping of Mn, Zr and Ce by incipient wetness impregnation. Zeolite NH4-BEA and NH4-ZSM-5 were used to adapt the SCR technology for mobile diesel engines. The catalysts were characterized by BET, X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM/EDS, TEM/EDS. The NO conversion at 200 ℃ over Fe/BEA decreased from 77% to 47% owing to the presence of 5% H2O and 100 ppm SO2 in the flue gas. The Mn promoted MnFe/BEA catalyst exhibited NO conversion higher than 53% at 200 ℃ and superior to that of Fe/BEA in the presence of H2O and SO2. The addition of Mn increased the Fe dispersion and prevented Fe aggregation. The promoting effect of Mn was higher than Zr and Ce. Fe/BEA catalyst exhibited good activity in comparison with Fe/ZSM-5 catalyst at low temperature below 250 ℃.

The effect of the alkali, alkali earth metal elements on selective catalytic reduction(SCR) catalyst deactivation behavior were investigated in terms of microstructure, surface area, pore volume and De-NOx test. Poisoned SCR catalyst were manufactured by injection of $K_2CO_3$, $Na_2CO_3$, $Ca(CH_3COO)_2{\cdot}H_2O$, $C_4H_6MgO_4{\cdot}4H_2O$, $H_3PO_4$ solutions in the new SCR catalyst at $350^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours. New and poisoned catalysts surface were similar. But specific surface area, pore volume decrease from Na, Mg, K, Ca, P compared to new SCR catalyst. Especially, Na poisoned catalyst surface area and pore size extremely decreased by $10.20m^2/g$, $0.061cm^2/g$. De-NOx test results of new and poisoned catalysts at $150{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ indicated that alkali metal (K, Na) poisoned SCR catalysts have the lowest De-NOx efficiency, alkali earth metal poisoned SCR catalysts (Ca, Mg) De-NOx efficiency are higher than alkali metal poisoned SCR catalysts. P poisoned SCR catalyst De-NOx efficiency is similar new SCR catalyst. It were considered that physical deactivation of SCR catalyst was affected by SCR catalyst surface area and pore volume change.

Performance of NOx removal in SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) process depends on such various factors as catalyst factors (catalyst composition, catalyst form, space velocity, etc.), temperature of exhaust gas, and velocity distribution of exhaust gas. Especially the flow uniformity of gas stream flowing into the catalyst layer is believed to be the most important factor to influence the performance. In this research, the flow characteristics of a SCR process at design stage was simulated, using 3-dimensional numerical analysis method, to confirm the uniformity of the gas stream. In addition, the effects of guide vanes, baffles, and perforated plates on the flow uniformity for the inside and catalyst layer of the reactor were studied in order to optimize the flow uniformity inside the SCR reactor. It was found that the installation of a guide vane at the inlet duct L-tube part and the installation of a baffle at the upper part is very effective in avoiding chaneling inside the reactor. It was also found that additional installation of a perforated plate at the lower part of the potential catalyst layer buffers once more the flow for very uniform distribution of the gas stream.
Manganese (Mn) catalysts were generated using $CeO_2$ and $ZrO_2$supports synthesized by the supercritical hydrothermal method and two different Mn precursors, aimed at an application for a low-temperature selective catalytic reduction process. Manganese acetate (MA) and manganese nitrate (MA) were used as Mn precursors. Effects of the kind and the concentration of the Mn precursor used for catalyst generation on the NOx removal efficiency were investigated. The characteristics of the generated catalysts were analyzed using $N_2$ adsorption-desorption, thermo-gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. De-NOx experiments were carried out to measure NOx removal efficiencies of the catalysts. NOx removal efficiencies of the catalysts generated using MA were superior to those of the catalysts generated using MN at every temperature tested. Analyses of the catalyst characteristics indicated that the higher NOx removal efficiencies of the MA-derived catalysts stemmed from the higher oxygen mobility and the stronger interaction with support material of $Mn_2O_3$ produced from MA than those of $MnO_2$ produced from MN.

Aluminum dross is formation at the surface of the molten metal as the latter reacts with the furnace atmosphere and it was an unavoidable by-product of the aluminum production process. However aluminum dross was usually landfilled or disposed without treatment, causing much environmental damage. The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of ceramic catalyst support using recycled Al dross. The recycled Al dross was made into SCR catalyst by mixing with $WO_3$, $V_2O_5$ and $TiO_2$. The $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2-Al_2O_3$ SCR catalyst was observed with XRF, XRD and BET. $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2-Al_2O_3$ SCR strength was measured by Universal Testing Machine(UTM). As the added $Al_2O_3$, streagth is increased. And the NOx removal activity was observed by MR(Micro-Reactor). The temperatures ranging from $350^{\circ}C$ and $400^{\circ}C$, $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2-Al_2O_3$ SCR catalyst De-NOx performance result of showed excellent activity over 90% at application condition.

Voltammetric behavior of some light lanthanide ions (La$^{3+}$, Pr$^{3+}$, Nd$^{3+}$, Sm$^{3+}$, and Eu$^{3+}$) in various supporting electrolytes has been investigated by several electrochemical techniques. The peak potentials and the peak currents, their dependency on the concentration, temperature and pH effects, the reversibility of the electrode reactions are described. The reduction of La$^{3+}$, Pr$^{3+}$ and Nd$^{3+}$ in 0.1 M lithium chloride proceeds by a three-electron change directly to the metallic state (Ln$^{3+}$ + 3e- → Ln$^0$) and charge transfer is totally irreversible. However, the reduction of Sm$^{3+}$ in 0.1 M tetramethylammonium iodide and Eu$^{3+}$ in 0.1 M lithium chloride proceeds in two stages (Ln$^{3+}$ + e- → Ln$^{2+}$ and Ln$^{2+}$ + 2e- → Ln$^0$). At pH values lower than ca.4 the hydrated lanthanide species (Ln(OH)$^{2+}$) reduced before the lanthanide ions (Ln$^{3+}$) due to the catalytic effect of hydrogen ions, and peak current increase with in the order Eu$^{3+}$ < Sm$^{3+}$ < Nd$^{3+}$ < Pr$^{3+}$ < La$^{3+}$ in differential pulse polarography. Some representative plots of $i_{pc}V^{-1/2} (proportional to current function) vs. V show considerable influence of hydrogen ion/lanthanide ion concentration in cyclic voltammetry. It is shown that a reaction of lanthanide ions with proton and/or water and catalytic reaction is enhanced at lower pH and at decreased lanthanide ion concentration.

A method for measuring and analyzing the $NO_x$ in ships is described in $NO_x$ Technical Code 2008. The analysis device, as required by the Code, has been to use a Chemi-luminescence detection method or Heated Chemi-luminescence detection. on the other hand, selective catalytic reduction using $NH_3$ as a reducing agent has an interference effect on the analyzer, and causes measurement error. In this study, the Chemi-luminescence detection method was examined according to how it affects the concentration of $O_2$, CO, $SO_2$, $NH_3$. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry analysis equipment and measurement methods were compared. In order to confirm the effect of the physical interference of the measuring device, it was confirmed by decomposing a measuring device. Consequently, white precipitate and moisture were generated inside the chemiluminescence detection system and I found that affecting interference. The influence of interference highlights the need to consider the minimized $NO_x$ measurement method.

A study using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) was conducted in conjunction with ammonia as a reducing agent for controlling nitrogen oxides, a typical secondary inducer of fine dust in the atmosphere. For NH3-SCR experiments, a commercial catalyst of V/W/TiO2 only and also V/W-Sb/TiO2 catalyst with Sb were used, and phosphorous durability was confirmed. As a result of NH3-SCR experiments, it was confirmed that the addition of Sb to V/W/TiO2 had durability against phosphorous. In addition, the physical and chemical properties were comparatively analyzed through BET, XPS, H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, and FT-IR analysis. From the anaylsis results, when Sb was added to V/W/TiO2 catalyst, P was also added resulting in the formation of SbPO4 and the generation of VOPO4 was suppressed. The phosphorous durability was confirmed by maintaining the redox characteristics of the catalyst before P was added.
In this study, a vanadium catalyst study was conducted on the various characteristics of the exhaust gas in the Selective-Catalytic-Reduction (SCR) method in which nitrogen oxides emitted from cogeneration using biogas are removed by using ammonia as a reducing agent and a catalyst. V/W/TiO2, a commercial catalyst, was used as the catalyst in this study, and the effect was confirmed according to the tungsten content under various operating conditions. As a result of the NH3-SCR experiment, the denitrification performance was confirmed at 380 ~ 450 ℃ more than 95%, and durability to trace amounts of SO2 was confirmed through the SO2 durability experiment and TGA analysis. As a result of H2-TPR analysis, the higher the tungsten content, the better the redox properties. Accordingly, enhanced oxidizing properties were confirmed in the oxidation test for a trace amount of carbon monoxide emitted from the cogeneration. In NH3-DRIFTs analysis, it was confirmed that the higher the tungsten content, the higher both the Bronsted/Lewis acid sites and the better the thermal durability when tungsten is added to the catalyst. Based on the experiments under various operating conditions, it is considered that a catalyst with a high tungsten content is suitable to be applied to cogeneration using biogas.
In this study, the direct amination of ethanol was performed over impregnated Ni on SiO2-Al2O3 mixed oxide catalysts prepared by varying Si/(Si + Al) molar ratio to 30 mol%. To characterize the physico-chemical properties of the catalysts used, X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2-physisorption, temperature-programmed desorption of iso-propyl alcohol (IPA-TPD), temperature-programmed desorption of ethanol (EtOH-TPD), temperature-programmed reduction with H2 (H2-TPR), H2-chemisorption and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used. The acidic property was continuously increased until Si/(Si + Al) = 30 mol% in SiO2-Al2O3 mixed oxides used. The dispersion of Ni metal and surface area, acid characteristics of the supported Ni catalyst have a complex effect on the catalytic reaction activity. The low reduction temperature of nickel oxide and acidic properties were beneficial to the formation of acetonitrile. In terms of conversion of ethanol, Ni/SiO2-Al2O3 catalyst with a molar ratio of 10 mol% Si/(Si+Al) showed the highest activity and a volcanic curve based on it. The tendency of results were consistent in the metal dispersion and catalytic activity.
