Characteristics of Sr0.92Y0.08TiO3-δ Anode in Humidified MethaneFuel for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • Sr0.92Y0.08TiO3-δ (SYT) was investigated as an alternative anode in humidified CH4 fuel for SOFCs at low temperatures (650 ℃-750 ℃) and compared with the conventional Ni/yttria-stabilized zirconia (Ni/YSZ) anode. The goal of the study was to directly use a hydrocarbon fuel in a SOFC without a reforming process. The cell performance of the SYT anode was relatively low compared with that of the Ni/YSZ anode because of the poor electrochemical catalytic activity of SYT. In the presence of CH4 fuel, however, the cell performance with the SYT anode decreased by 20%, in contrast to the 58% decrease in the case of the Ni/YSZ anode. The severe degradation of cell performance observed with the Ni/YSZ anode was caused by carbon deposition that resulted from methane thermal cracking. Carbon was much less detected in the SYT anode due to the catalytic oxidation. Otherwise, a significant amount of bulk carbon was detected in the Ni/YSZ anode.

  • In the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system which is used for controlling the NOx emission from the Diesel engines, the soot deposited on the catalysis causes degradation of the system performance. Numerical study was done to evaluate the performance of soot blower which is proposed as a method for removing the soot on the catalysis. The spray conditions and the effect of the compressed air from the AIG (air inlet gun) were analyzed numerically to evaluate the overall effective method of the soot blowing. The characteristics of the final velocity distribution and velocity waves across the inlet section of the catalysis were evaluated with respect to the geometries of the AIG outlets and pressure conditions. An experimental model was used to validate the results of the numerical calculation that is used for finding the effective removal blowing momentum transfer quantities of soot the inlet section of the catalysis, and it is proposed that the required minimum blowing momentum transfer quantities are over than 0.499 $kg/m{\bullet}t_{eff}$ in the current study.

  • 극초음속 비행체용 능동냉각시스템의 전체적인 운용 성능을 결정하는 주요 요소는 크게 탄화수소흡열연료, 재생냉각 채널, 시스템 소재 및 구조로 구분되며, 그 중에서도 효율적인 재생냉각시스템 개발을 위한 일련의 연구는 탄화수소 항공유의 흡열반응 성능 향상으로부터 시작된다. 따라서 이전 연구에서는 탄화수소 항공유 자체의 흡열분해 특성에 대한 광범위한 연구 동향을 정리하였으며, 본 연구에서는 그에 대한 후속 연구로서 효과적인 흡열분해 특성 개선 및 성능 향상 방안으로 다양하게 시도되고 있는 촉매 분해와 수증기 개질 연구들에 대한 세부기술 분석을 수행하였다.

촉매 공정의 배기가스 질소산화물 저감 성능에 미치는 오존주입의 영향 (Effect of Ozone Injection into Exhaust Gas on Catalytic Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides)

  • 본 연구에서는 촉매공정의 질소산화물 제거 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 배기가스에 오존을 주입하였다. 배기가스에 오존을 주입하면 배기가스에 포함되어 있는 NO의 일부가 $NO_2$로 빠르게 산화되며, NO와 $NO_2$ 혼합물은 촉매반응기에서 $N_2$로 환원된다. 오존의 발생을 위해 유전체 장벽 방전 반응기가 사용되었고 촉매로는 상용 $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$ 촉매가 사용되었다. 질소산화물의 환원제는 암모니아였다. 촉매반응기 전단의 $NO_2$ 함량은 오존 주입량에 의해 변화될 수 있었으며, $NO_2$ 함량 변화가 촉매의 질소산화물 저감성능에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. $NO_2$ 함량이 촉매반응기의 성능에 미치는 영향은 다양한 조건에서 수행되었는데, 주요 변수로 선정한 것은 반응온도, 초기 $NO_x$ 농도, 암모니아 농도, 그리고 배기가스 유량이었다. 오존주입에 의한 $NO_2$ 함량 증가는 촉매공정의 질소산화물 제거 성능을 크게 향상시킬 수 있었으며, 이러한 성능 향상 효과는 반응온도가 낮을수록 두드러졌다. 본 연구의 오존 주입 방법은 기존 촉매 공정의 개선에 크게 유용할 것으로 판단된다.

노후 특수·화물 차량 PM/NOx 저감을 위한 SDPF 촉매 및 코팅 기술 연구 (A Study on Selective Catalytic Reduction on Diesel Particulate Filter Catalyst and Coating Technology the Removal of Particulate Matters and NOx for Old Special Cargo Vehicles)

  • 본 연구에서는, 노후된 엔진을 사용하는 트럭 및 특수차량에서 배출되는 NOx 및 PM을 동시에 제거하기 위해 SDPF 후처리 시스템 연구를 수행하였다. 우선, SDPF의 SCR 촉매를 선정하기 위해서, V/TiO2와 Cu-zeolite 촉매의 de-NOx 성능을 비교하였으며, SCR 촉매특성분석은 BET, XRD 및 NH3-TPD를 통해 분석하였다. 촉매 활성시험 결과, Cu-zeolite 촉매가 가장 우수한 내열성을 보여주었다. 최적의 SDPF 코팅을 위해서, 목표로 설정된 입자 크기에 맞추어 슬러리를 제조하였다. SCR 코팅량에 따른 SDPF의 코팅안정성과 배압 결과, SDPF 촉매를 로딩량별로 A, B, C 샘플을 제작하여 코팅안정성과 배압 및 de-NOx 성능을 비교한 결과 B 샘플에서에서 가장 우수한 결과를 보였다. 최적 SDPF 후처리시스템에 대해 엔진동력계 시험을 실시하였으며, 시험결과 Eu-5 규제를 만족하였다.

촉매연소기용 귀금속 촉매와 조촉매의 열적 내구특성 연구 (Thermal Durability Characteristics of Precious Metal(Pt) and Additives for a Catalytic Combustor)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the thermal durability characteristics of the Pt catalyst and additives used in a catalytic combustor. The catalyst used in the experiment was based on Pt (3 wt%), and a total of 12 types were prepared using a combination of additives (Ni, La, Ce, Fe, and Co). From the results, In the fresh state, the two types of combination catalysts with the highest C3H8 conversion were Pt_Ce (79.9%) at 500℃, and in the three types of combination catalysts, Pt_La_Ni (93.4%) at 500℃ had the best performance. Among aged catalysts at 850℃ and 8 hours, Pt-La-Ni and Pt-Ni-Ce catalysts showed the highest C3H8 conversion of about 71% at 500℃.

Electro-chemical Removal Properties of Water Pollutants by Ag-ACF from Piggery Waste

  • The electro-chemical removal (ECR) of water pollutants by metal-ACF electrodes from wastewater was investigated over wide range of ECR time. The ECR capacities of metallic ACF electrodes were related to physical properties such as adsorption isotherm, surface area and pore size and to reaction time. Surface morphologies and elemental analysis for the metal supported ACFs after electro-catalytic reaction were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy disperse X-ray (EDX) to explain the changes in adsorption properties. The IR spectra of metallic ACFs for the investigation of functional groups show that the electro-catalytic treatment is consequently associated with the removal of pollutants with the increasing surface reactivity of the activated carbon fibers. The metal-ACFs were electro-catalytically reacted to waste water to investigate the removal efficiency for the COD, T-N, $NH_4$-N, $NO_3$-N and $NO_2$-N. From these removal results of the piggery waste using metallic ACFs substrate, satisfactory removal performance was achieved. The removal efficiency of the metallic ACFs substrate was mainly determined by the properties of the material for adsorption and trapping of organics, and catalytic effects.

V2O5/TiO2 촉매의 선택적 환원촉매반응에서 격자산소의 역할 (The Role of Lattice Oxygen in the Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx on V2O5/TiO2 Catalysts)

  • In situ electrical conductivity measurements on $V_2O_5WO_3/TiO_2$ catalysts were carried out at between 100 and $300^{\circ}C$ under pure oxygen, NO and $NH_3$ to investigate the reaction mechanism for ammonia SCR (selective catalytic reduction) de NOX. The electrical conductivity of catalysts changed irregularly with supply of NO. It was, however, found that the electrical conductivity change with ammonia supply was regular and the increase of electrical conductivity was mainly caused by reduction of the labile surface oxygen. The electrical conductivity change of catalysts showed close relationship with the conversion rate of NOx. Variation of conversion rate in atmosphere without gaseous oxygen also showed that labile lattice oxygen is indispensable in the initial stage of the de NOx reaction. These results suggest that liable lattice oxygen acts decisive role in the de NOx mechanism. They also support that de NOx reaction occurs through the Eley?Rideal type mechanism. The amount of labile oxygen can be estimated from the measurement of electrical conductivity change for catalysts with ammonia supply. This suggests that measurement of the change can be used as a measure of the de NOx performance.

Peroxopolyoxotungsten-based Ionic Hybrid as a Highly Efficient Recyclable Catalyst for Epoxidation of Vegetable oil with H2O2

  • A peroxopolyoxotungsten-based ionic hybrid was synthesized by anion-change of peroxopolyoxometalate (POM) $PW_4O{_{24}}^{3-}$ with dicationic long-chain alkyl imidazolium ionic liquids. The characterization was conducted by FT-IR, TGA, $^1H$-NMR and CHN Elemental analyses. Its catalytic performance was evaluated by the epoxidation of soybean oil with $H_2O_2$ under solvent-free condition, including testing of organic cations influence, catalytic reusability and reaction conditions. The catalyst was proved to be a highly efficient recyclable catalyst for epoxidation of various vegetable oils with $H_2O_2$, showing high $H_2O_2$ utilization efficiency, high catalytic activity, convenient recovery and good reuse ability.

  • 에나멜 도장장치의 건조 과정에서는 유해한 VU가 다량 배출된다. 이 VOC 가스는 촉매연소를 통해 완전 소각될 수 있으며, 소각되는 과정에서 발생된 열은 공정에 다시 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 기술적 특성을 이용하여 환경개선과 에너지 절감 효과가 뛰어난 에나멜 도장장치를 개발하였다. 이를 위한 기초 연구로서 촉매의 VOC 가스에 대한 연소 특성 및 성능 평가와 수치해석이 수행되었다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 고온에서 VOC에 대한 금속 촉매 폼의 성능은 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 건조 과정이 효율적으로 진행되기 위해서는 재 순환 가스 공급량 및 건조 가스 흡입량의 정밀한 조절이 가능한 구조로 설계되어져야 함을 보여 주었다.
