  • Polycrystalline $CuInSe_2$ (CIS) was synthesized through solvothermal reactions in toluene with selected alkyl amines as complexing agents. The alkyl amines were used as reducing agent of selenium and catalytic ligands, enhancing the formation of CIS compounds in the colloidal solution. Toluene does not contribute the syntheses directly but minimizes the amounts of amines required for single phase CIS. We systematically studied the reactivity of amine compounds for the solovothermal syntheses, determined critical concentration of amine and the shortest reaction time. Crystallinity, morphology, chemical composition, and band gap of the prepared $CuInSe_2$ were respectively measured by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy.

  • Carbon nanotube(CNT) plays an essential role in various fields of nano based science and technology. Recently, silica coated CNT composites are interested because they are useful for the optical, magnetical, and catalytic applications. In this report, carboxyl groups were introduced on the MWCNT using nitric acid. In order to maximize the silica encapsulation efficiency, carboxyl groups of MWCNT reacted with a silane coupling agent were used to prepare silica coated MWCNT. Due to their strong interaction between modified MWCNT and TEOS. Silica layer with a controllable thickness was achieved. Silica coated MWCNT were further utilized as the template for the synthesis of hollow silica nanotubes after $800^{\circ}C$ calcination.

  • There are many plating methods already commercially employed in te surface technology. One of the plating methods is electroless (chemical) plating, which is deposited by auto-catalytic reduction of metallic ion with the reducing agent in the plating bath. And it has many advantages comparing with electrolytic plating in respect of properties of deposit, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, uniformity, hardness, adhesion and so on. So, electroless plating is the fatest growing process in metallization of plastic and electronic industry. The properties and numerous applications of electroless deposits are attracting more and more attention from finish specifies. Many metal finishers are considering set-up of new electroless line in their shops. This review will be beneficial to domestic metal finishers to understand the real status of present electroless plating technology. It will also provide some knowledge on the economic aspect of electroless plating for the commercial application of specific parts.

  • The reactions of nitrous acid with hydrogen peroxide in acidic aqueous solution in the presence of several added anions have been studied at $0^{\circ}C$ and pH 2-4 to investigate the nucleophilic catalysis of these anions. From the dependence of reaction rates on the anion concentrations, significant catalytic effects were found for $Cl^-,\;Br^-,\;SCN^-$, in order of effect $SCN^-\;{\approx}\;Br^->Cl^-$, while no observable effect was found for ${ClO_4}^-$ and ${NO_3}^-$. These results support O-nitrosation reaction is the rate-determining step and NOX formed in the presence of an anion ($X^-$) also acts as a nitrosating agent and accelerates the overall reaction rate. The order of reactivity was found to be NOCl>NOBr>NOSCN, which is consistent with the results of N-nitrosation and S-nitrosation reactions.

  • The curing characteristics of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) with diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) as a curing agent were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), rheometrics mechanical spectrometry (RMS), and dielectric analysis (DEA). The isothermal curing kinetics measured by DSC were well represented with the generalized auto-catalytic reaction model. With the temperature sweep, the inverse relationship between complex viscosity measured by RMS and ionic conductivity obtained from DEA was established indicating that the mobility of free ions represented by the ionic conductivity in DEA measurement and the chain segment motion as revealed by the complex viscosity measured from RMS are equivalent. From isothermal curing measurements at several different temperatures, the ionic conductivity contribution was shown to be dominant in the dielectric loss factor at the early stage of cure. The contribution of the dipole relaxation in dielectric loss factor became larger as the curing further proceeded. The critical degrees of cure, at which the dipolar contribution in the dielectric loss factor starts to appear, increases as isothermal curing temperature is increased. The dielectric relaxation time at the same degree of cure was shorter for a sample cured at higher curing temperature.

  • Natural biotemplates - such as bacteria, fungi and viruses - are used in nanostructured metal oxide production. The pollen can be found abundantly in nature, and their microcapsules can be easily isolated from the pollen by chemical treatments. To date, pollen microcapsules are mostly used as drug carriers and catalytic agent templates. In the present study, nanoporous-structured nickel oxide is produced using Pistachio pollen microcapsules. The raw pollen, chemically treated pollen and metal-coated pollen were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The natural Pistachio pollen which were procured from Gaziantep, Turkey, are spherical, with a diameter of approximately $23{\mu}m$. The maximum surface area obtained for nickel oxide-coated microcapsules is $228.82m^2/g$. This result shows that Pistachio pollen are an excellent candidate for the production of porous nanostructured materials for supercapacitor electrodes.

  • Ruthenium(III) unsymmetrical Schiff base complexes, $[Ru(CHBPH-TP)Cl_2]$ and $K[Ru(CHBPH-HB)Cl_2]$ were synthesized, where CHBPH-TP and CHBPH-HB are 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenonethiophencarba aldehydephenylenediimine and 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenonehydroxybenzophe nonephenylenediimine. These Schiff bases were obtained from the reactions of 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenone (CHB) and 2-thiophenecarbaldehyde (TP) or hyroxybenzophenone (HB) and 1,2-diaminobenzene. Elemental analysis, conductivity and infrared studies of the complexes suggest an octahedral geometry around ruthenium. Magnetic moments of the complexes indicate a single unpaired electron in alow spin $d^5$ configuration. The complexes are capable of catalyzing the oxidation of styrene with sodium hypochlorite in the presence of phase transfer agent. Oxidative cleavage of C=C bond is the major reaction pathway to form benzaldehyde for styrene oxidation.

  • The cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), a group of serine/threonine kinases that form active heterodimeric complexes binding to cyclins, are key regulators of the cell cycle. The role of cyclin dependent kinases(CDKs) in cell cycle regulation has stimulated an interest in them as potential targets for proliferative diseases such as cancer, psoriasis, and chemotherapeutic agent-induced alopecia. Indirubin, an active ingredient of a traditional Chinese recipe Danggui Longhui Wan, are potent CDK inhibitors competing with ATP for binding to the catalytic site of the CDKs. (omitted)
