Two experiments were conducted to study the effect of using Egyptian mallow leaf meal (EMLM) on growth performance and feed utilization of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) in experiment 1. Four diets containing 0, 5, 15 and 25% EMLM were included at the expense of berseem leaf meal and fed to fingerlings of common carp for 98 days. The results showed that the average daily gain, feed intake and feed coefficient ratio (FCR) were improved (p<0.05) with increasing the level of EMLM in the diet. Fish fed 25% EMLM were similar to control fish (30% berseem leaf meal) in the productive value (PPV%). In experiment 2, five diets were prepared to contain: 1) 30% berseem leaf meal, 2) 25% untreated EMLM, 3) 25% cooked EMLM 4) 25% treated EMLM with 0.5% NaOH and 5) 25% treated EMLM with 1% NaOH. The results showed that diet containing EMLM gave the best growth performance and feed utilization. However, diet containing 1% NaOH treated EMLM superior to the other diets in PPV% and energy utilization. Diets containing 0.5% NaOH-treated EMLM or cooked EMLM decreased the protein utilization compared to those containing EMLM.
To investigate the species and infection rate of Tripartiella sp in three species of freshwater fish, carp(Cyprinus carpio), goldfish(Crassius auratus) and Korean catfish(Parasilurus asotus), fish cultured in the fish farms next to Yosu and in the western area of Chunbuk province in Korea was examined from April to June, 1996. The infection rate was evaluated after observing the gill and mucous from 130 fish under the microscope. The species of Tripartiella was identified on the basis of the shape and number of denticle according to methods of Bychowsky(1985) after staining the parasites with 2% methyene blue solution. All the detected-parasite was classified as Tripartiella differed from Trichodina reported previously in our country. T carassii, T californica, T rhombi from Goldfish, T rhombi from common carp, T californica from Israeli carp and T bychowsky from Korean catfish were observed. In the fish from the fish farms in the western area of Chunbuk province, the infection rate of Tripartiella sp was ranged from 6.7% to 100%, but in neither carp nor goldfish from the farms next to Yosu the parasite detected.
This study was conducted to investigate the growth and skin color of red- and white-colored fancy carp Cyprinus carpio var. koi juvenile reared at different water temperatures (21, 24, 27, and $30^{\circ}C$) for eight weeks. Two experimental diets were prepared to contain 10% Arthrospira platensis or 10% Arthrospira pacifica powder. After the feeding trial, survival was 100% in all group. Weight gain of fish reared at 24, 27, and $30^{\circ}C$ was higher than $21^{\circ}C$ group. Feed efficiency was not affected by water temperature and dietary Arthrospira sp. Daily feed intake tended to increase with water temperature. The $a^*$ value of skin coloration was affected by Arthrospira sp., but not by water temperature. Fish fed the diet containing A. pacifica powder reared at $27^{\circ}C$ had the highest $a^*$ value among the groups. Total carotenoids were highest in fish fed the diet containing A. pacifica powder reared at $21^{\circ}C$. Based on the results of this study, we conclude that 24-$30^{\circ}C$ water temperature was the optimal range for growth, and dietary inclusion of A. pacifica improved the skin redness of red- and white-colored fancy carp reared at $27^{\circ}C$.

The changes of plasma cortisol concentration to high water temperature on common carp, Cyprinus carpio were studied. 20℃, 24℃ and 28℃ groups showed significantly increased plasma cortisol levels until 6 hours, and decreased plasma cortisol levels after 24 hours. Cortisol levels of 20℃ and 24℃ groups decreased to values close to the cortisol content before the experiment. However, 32℃ group showed significantly increased plasma cortisol levels until 24 hours, and maintained plasma cortisol level until 48 hours. The Cumulative mortality rates of 20℃, 24℃ and 28℃ groups increased until 12 hours, and maintained until 48 hours. Cumulative mortality rate of 32℃ group increased continuously until the end of the experiment. Using the results of this study, it could be used as a method to confirm the risk of mass perish in a specific area through hormone analysis.

Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and Israeli carp(C. carpio) samples were obtained from a aquaculture facility in the Kunsan National University, Korea. Genomic DNA was isolated from the common carp and Israeli carp representing genetic characteristics and genomic polymorphisms by polymerase chain reaction amplification of DNA as arbitrary primers. There were observed a total of 90 species-specific genetic markers within Israeli carp. On average, each random RAPD primer produced amplified 7.9 products from 1 to 17 bands. An average genetic similarity within Israeli carp showed -.60$\pm$0.05. The average level of bandsharing was some 0.57$\pm$0.03 between common carp and Israeli carp. Accordingly, two carp species were genetically a little distant. The electrophoretic analysis of PCR-RAPD proudcts showed high levels of variation between two fish species. The RAPD polymorphism generated by primer may be used as a genetic marker for species or lines identification in important aquacultural carp.

Aspidogastrid trematodes (Subclass Aspidogastrea) are a relatively small group with a characteristic adhesive disc and parasitize in a variety of cold-blooded hosts. Until now, only 2 species in the genus Cotylaspis, i.e., C. coreensis and C. sinensis, have been reported as the aspidogastrid trematode in the Republic of Korea (=Korea). In the present study, we intended to describe a species of aspidogastrids collected from the small intestine of the common carp, Cyprinus carpio, in a faunistic point of view. Total 51 specimens were collected from a carp caught in Nakdong-gang (River) on May 2015. Some of them were prepared as the specimens for light microscopic observations, and some others were prepared for SEM. They were slightly elongated without head lobes, $2,432{\times}840{\mu}m$ in average size, and had characteristic adhesive discs with 4 rows and 46 alveoli in average. The ovary was reniform and was located in the posterior-upper part of the body. The single testis was larger than the ovary and was located below the ovary. The uterus was coiled containing numerous eggs and distributed in the posterior 2/3 of the body. The vitellaria were follicular, and distributed from the mid-level of testis to near the posterior end. The morphological characters with dimensions of our specimens were closely identical with those of Aspidogaster ijimai previously described. A new aspidogastrid is added among the Korean trematode fauna by the present study.
This study was undertaken to understand development stage of ovary and changes of hormone concentrations in the Israeli carp, Cyprinus carpio from Ferbruary to May. The results obtained in these experiments are as follows: 1. Serum LH levels began to increase sharply in March, coinciding with the onset of rapid ovarian development. 2. LH levels were well correlated with changes in gonadosomatic index. 3. Dramatic increase in gonadosomatic index occured during the months of March. 4. Ripe stage(Stage VII) rapidly increase in March. 5. Early perinucleolus oocyte rapidly develop into late perinucleolus oocytes in March. 6. The vitellogenic phase begins as these late perinucleolus oocytes become transformed into early maturing oocytes through the accumulation of yolk. 7. The cytoplasm completely fills with yolk as oocytes reach the late maturing stage. 8. Changes in the microscopic appearances of the ovaries were well correlated with changes in both gonadosomatic index and macroscopic appearance. 9. It is concluded from these observations that LH plays a major role in sexual maturating of the Israeli carp.
