Fungal isolates belong to Fusarium solani (perfect stage : Nectria haematococca) were isolated form pea, ginseng roots and soybean during 1995 and 1996 in Korea. Thirty-five isolates were identified as F. solani f. sp. pisi based on the morphological characteristics and their pathogenicity. Microconidia formed on the long conidiophore were ovoid or oblong sizing 5~14 x 2.5~5.0 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Macroconidia were formed on carnation leaf agar media with 4.8~5.3 x 32.0~40.7 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in size. They belonged to $\beta$-type since their 3-septate macroconidia were smaller than $5\mu\textrm{m}$ in width. Chlamydospores were smooth- or rough- walled and formed in terminal or lateral branches of hyphae, intercalary, or in chains. Most isolates were highly virulent to pea seedlings, producing dark brown or rot lesions. This is the first report of f. solani f. sp. pisi being pathogenic to pea in Korea.
The shape of floral Pattern in the Period of Baroque could be divided single. bunch and vine. The style of representation was stylized, abstract and realistic. the most of style was stylized. The type of composition was fullness, independent and scattered. Floral patterns were shaped simple and complex and components of design could be classified into flower and leaf. flower and fruit. flower and band. bunch of flower, flower and geometry. flower and pot, flower and animal. flower and crest. Kinds of flower were tulip. common marigold, lily, carnation, small bel]flower. lotus, acandus leaf, pomegranate, strawberry. pine cone and abstract anonymous flower which were unfolded by repeat. Characters of floral Pattern were classical elegance, taste of royalty and lively and damask, velvet, brocade which made with gold and silver so, those were a very brilliant and gorgeous. Art, costumes and textiles in this era were a very rich and colorful. The result of study on Baroque's floral pattern will be used to develope a various textile design and chance to be adopted classical pattern into aesthetic value in our time.
Alstroemeria plants are widely cultivated in many countries especially in Western Europe and North America and popularity has increased in recently due to its long-base life, large variety of colors and low energy requirement during cultivation period. So far, more than 60 species have been released on the commercial market in the world. To meet the demand of consumer and develop the elite Alstroemeria cultivars, conventional breeding including cross-hybridization and selection as well as mutation breeding were used. However, as other important ornamental plants such as lily, rose, carnation and orchids accepted the biotechnological methods, this newly-born approach should be applied and developed an optimized the genetic transformation system. Then, this biotechnological approach can be fused with the conventional breeding methods and thus can be contributed to the production of elite Alstroemeria plants containing agriculturally good genetic traits which are useful for the both farmers and consumers in the future. In this paper, we reviewed the botanical and genetical features of Alstroemeria plants and its biotechnological approaches in the last decades.
This study aims to explore the unethical issues in leather processing and to develop designs of leather products based on the concept of reincarnation by ecosystem circulation. The method used in this research include the review of previous literature and the design process for development fashion accessories using waste leather. The design process comprises collecting waste leather, classifying waste leather by type, color, and size, and developing leather products according to line carnation method. For this research, the material was limited to waste cowhide leather collected from leather workshops and leather product factories. The leather pieces were divided into typical and atypical types and developed leather accessories based on the leather piece's color and size. A twill brooch, four-string bracelet, a brooch using the four-stringed leather strap and mini handbag designs were developed using regular type waste leather. An armband of abstract patterns and a cellphone case with graffiti pattern using irregular type over-splitting waste leather. The environmental issues in design are observed as part of understanding the significance of this study. Development of waste leather accessory can expand the usability of the waste leather as well as increase the product value by creating limited-line editions. By understanding the role and benefits of sustainable upcycling, this research suggests an efficient way to use waste materials in fashion to coexist with the natural environment.
When turning to determining a subject position for the digital age, one may look beyond the invention of its technologies and instead begin with the development of its aesthetic of networked communities, nodal expression, and collaborative identity. Virginia Woolf's The Waves demonstrates this aesthetic in both form and content. In this paper, I will examine the role of collaboration in the form of interdisciplinary composition, arguing that Woolf's use of musical form and dramatic monologue and dialogue structurally secure an investment in collaborative models of expression. Digital texts taut their inherent multimodality, but such compositions are also evident in pre-digital texts. In addition, I will decipher the subject position Woolf puts forward in The Waves by looking closely at how the characters determine their own identity and existence when they are alone, when they interact with one individual, and when they congregate as a group. These are exemplified more specifically in the representations of Rhoda and Bernard as equally refusing to collaborate between a self-defined identity and a group defined identity; Bernard's channeling of Lord Byron while writing a love letter; and Woolf's use of the red carnation as a repeated image of the intertwined nature of the characters' collaborative identity and mutual dependence on one another.
Urinary Incontinence is any leakage of urine against their will. It is not a life threatening illness but it causes negative effects both socially and psychologically. Based on many previous studies, 20-40% of adult female and 30% of men in their sixties have experienced symptoms of urinary incontinence. As the number of active aged people experiencing the symptoms increases, demand for specialized product is growing. The purpose of the study is to research the types and features of male disposable products for urinary incontinence on the market and to provide the basic data for improvement and development of better product. Products from 6 brands (Tena, Depend, Carnation, Keepers, Molimed, Abrimen) with high brand awareness both in online and offline were selected and analyzed. And product evaluation was carried out by male in their sixties with light symptom of urinary incontinence. The results are as follows. There are three types of male products for urinary incontinence: panties, diaper and pad. Among the 6 brands, the subject of analysis, only Depend from Yuhan Kimberly produces male panties while others make ones for unisex. There is no diaper product only for male, and Tena, Molimed, Abrimen have pad type products for male. Male panties from Depend emphasizes their design considering male's physical characteristics. Male pad is differentiated with female one by having different designs like triangular or pocket type which is more comforting to men. As a result of product evaluation, wearable panties similar to normal underwear were highly appreciated and satisfactory. Among various shapes of pads, 25cm long pad with wide width of front and narrow back was valued to be comfortable.
Three experiments were conducted to determine whether cobalt (Co) or nickel (Ni) could prevent zinc (Zn) deficiency signs in pigs fed a high calcium (Ca) corn-soybean diet. The basal diet contained 1.3% Ca, .93% phytic acid and means of 34 to 48 ppm Zn. After weanling, pigs in experiment I were fed the basal diet for 9 weeks, and was found that 50 ppm Co or Ni for 5 weeks increased average daily weight gain (ADG) and reversed skin lesions toward normal. These effects were similar to those of 100 ppm supplemental Zn. The Zn content and alkaline phosphatase activity of serum from pigs supplemented with Co or Ni were higher at 2 weeks and 4 weeks (P<.05) than those of the basal group. Zn content of bone, liver and kidney, and alkaline phosphatase activity in bone were increase after 5 weeks of supplementation with Co or Ni. In experiments 2 and 3, addition of 54 ppm and 27 ppm of either Co or Ni increased (P<.05) ADG and decreased incidence of skin lesions except in one group supplemented with 27 ppm Ni. Supplemental Co or Ni increased Zn in serum and alkaline phosphatase activity in serum and bone in both experiments. Over all experiments, supplemental Co or Ni decreased Zn deficiency signs in the following order of effectiveness: 54 ppm Co, 54 ppm Ni, 27 ppm Co and 27 ppm Ni. The alleviation of signs of Zn deficiency by Co or Ni may have been the result of increased availability of dietary Zn.
Thirty-eight isolates of Phytophthora sp. caused rots on roots and basal stems were collected from five flowering plants from 1992 to 1997 at eight cultivation areas in Korea. All the isolates were identified as P. nicotianae based on following characteristics. The fungus produced markedly papillate, not caducous and ovoid to spherical sporangia, abundant chlamydospores, and small oospores with amphigynous antheridia only when paired with either A1 or A2 mating type. All isolates grew well at 35$^{\circ}C$ and showed distinct arachnoid colony patterns on CMA and PDA. Sizes of sporangia and chlamydospores of five representative isolates from each plant averaged 43-52$\times$30-38 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 28 ~34 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Mating type of the isolates was either A1 or A2, and oogonia and oospores were measured as 28~31 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 21~25 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. PCR-RFLP analysis of rDNA of the five isolates resulted that restriction band patterns of the small subunit and ITS regions were identical to a perilla isolate of P. nicotianae, but distinct from P. cactorum and P. capsici. Cross inoculation tests showed that the five isolates had pathogenicity to lily, christmas cactus, anthurium, baby's breath and carnation with different degrees. However, each isolate showed stronger pathogenicity to its corresponding original host than others. Among five lily cultivars Georgia and Quririna were more susceptible than Napoli and others. This is first report of Phytophthora root and stem rot of lily, Christmas cactus, anthurium, baby's breath and monochoria in Korea.
The purpose of this paper is to study the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, with a focus on its aesthetics, its practical use and its traditional meaning. After the examination of its history, the paper, recreated the proceeds by taking into consideration both the contemporary men's fashion, as well as the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ designs of the past. The three factors of contemporary $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ design, in brief, are its historical meaning, the visual aesthetics and the wearability. In this paper, the research and design steps are as followed below. First, the paper examined the history of men's fashion leading up to the twenty-first century in order to get a deeper understanding of the history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$. Second, the paper attempted to find the most suitable fabric materials and flowers for the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, in order to produce diverse $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ that can be worn in any season and occasion. As for the fabrics that can be used to make the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, organza can be used for the S/S season, and wool, tweed and suede can be used for the F/W season. The major characteristics that differentiate the kinds of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ are the "Carnation" and the "Rose of Sharon". The 'Rose of Sharon' $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ as the symbol of our nation possesses an intricate meaning and practical function, so that this $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ is used as an alternative badge of the national assembly and other social-national institutions and their members. This idea expands into other social and individual features that the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ is a differentiated fashion item that provides other personal styles and expresses individuality.
