  • Diverse improvement projects such as replacing street lamps with LED, street trees, etc are currently in progress in Korea to reduce greenhouse gas so as to cope with change in climate. However, the effect of climate change policy is not exactly analyzed, because exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of greenhouse gas of the target street lamp and street trees are not arranged as information. Thus, this study studied the method to systematically manage low carbon related information of urban facilities by using GIS. It was found that low carbon information of the urban facilities is necessary to exactly analyze effect of climate change policy and the method to calculate carbon exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of each facilities should be established to build exact low carbon information of urban facilities. Further, it was found that the visualization of information related to low carbon of street lamp and street trees by using GIS easily and visually grasps and systematically controls the effect of policy coping with change in climate than the existing numeral data of exhaust quantity and absorption quantity of greenhouse gas.

  • The characteristics of all the instruments and materials used in atomic industry is changed due to radiation damages by the effects of radiation activities. In this study, when the Carbon Resistor, main element of electrical circuits, is irradiated by Gamma-Ray, variations in its electrical properties have been investigated. The following results are obtained: 1) The resistance value in Carbon Resistor is exponentially increased as the quantity of irradiation by Gamma-Ray is increased, but in case of more than 10$^{6}$ R/hr. of quantity of irradiation it has saturated-state value. 2) The rate of change inrestistance value has been independent on the intensity of Gamma-Ray source when Carbon Resistor is irradiated in the same quantity of irradiation. 3) The resistance value in irradiated Carbon Resistor has not been varied with elapse of time. 4) The more the distance from the Carbon Resistor to the Gamma-Ray source the more greatly the resistance value is decreased and that it has been shown that the more quantity of irradiation by Gamma-Ray, the greater the rate of decrease in resistance value. Through the above results it has been concluded that the measurement values obtained by the high-precision instruments in the radiation field have to be corrected with proper consideration to radiation damages.

  • Government efforts for green growth policy initiatives demand low-carbon technologies in the road construction industry. The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm of a road alignment design solution for establishing the multi-dimensional information, and to calculate carbon emission quantity due to the geometric design elements in the planning phase of road alignment. The paper developed a calculation method for carbon emission quantity by drawing a speed profile reflected in the operating speed, acceleration and deceleration, which are majors factor of carbon emissions while driving and by applying a carbon emission factor. From this effort, it enabled alignment planning to reduce carbon emission. Object-based parametric design methods of the cross-sections were proposed for alignment planning, and the paper demonstrated a BIM-based road alignment planning solution. The proposed solutions can provide multi-dimensional information on carbon emission quantity and cross section elements through driving simulation. It is expected to allow construction of eco-friendly roads by deriving optimal road alignment to minimize environmental costs.

  • From the construction material the cement and the concrete which will reach to 90% are used to construction. But the cement occurrence (from the whole industry 4.4% of carbon dioxide exhaust quantity) makes the carbon dioxide of manufacture hour and anti- the recognition which is an environment industry. The cement absorbs the carbon dioxide during life period of the life time. It calls carbonation. In this study in order to evaluate the carbon dioxide absorption of the cement test produced the mortar specimens which it follows in the W/C. And carbonatable material of mortar specimens (calcium hydroxide) the quantitly it measured, reference study it led and absorption of carbon dioxide quantity it produced. Finally two result comparisons leads and it is a fundamental study which does the test evaluation possibility and a propriety investigation of carbon dioxide absorption quantity in objective.

  • This study presents a surveying of methane and carbon dioxide at sanitary landfills. The following results are obtained. (1) The majority of methane and the half of carbon dioxide pour out from vertical gas vents. (2) The quantity of carbon dioxide in cove. soil was greater than methane. (3) Even though gas extrusion in side slop area was small, the quantity of gas extrusion in side slop area was much greater than in coversoil area as especially carbon dioxide rate. (4) As were carried raw refuse layer, methane extrusion was trace, but carbon dioxide was large. (5) Gas extrusion quantity were changed by the compaction of soil, and the operating area of refuse. (6) Carbon dioxide portioned much larger in the whole landfill, but methane portioned much larger in gas vent and coversoil.

  • Denitrification permanently removes nitrate from aquatic ecosystems, so construction of denitrification walls to enhance denitrification activity is often suggested to reduce the nitrate levels from tributary ecosystems. However, little information is available to guide the choice of appropriate organic materials for increasing denitrification rates in the walls. This study investigated how differences in organic substrates originating from litter and organic materials affected denitrification and carbon mineralization rates in riparian sediments. Potential denitrification rates were highest in riparian sediments that contained large quantities of extractable organic carbon (Ext. Org C) and that had high anaerobic carbon mineralization rates, but they were negatively correlated with C:N ratios. Therefore, this research suggested that the both carbon quantity and quality should be considered when assessing the efficiency of organic substrates to remove nitrate from tributary ecosystems.

  • This study compares and analyzes the operation costs of traditional and direct delivery strategies considering carbon emissions. For the determination of minimum operation costs and order quantity, we use the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model, which is the proper method for calculate the operation costs by logistics strategy. Using the classical EOQ model, we expand the EOQ model considering carbon emissions and domestic logistics environment. We conduct an empirical study on two agri-food logistics strategies under limitation of the carbon emissions using the expanded EOQ model. From the results of the empirical study, we find that the operation costs of direct delivery strategy are about 50% lower than those of the traditional strategy. Economic order quantity is also smaller than that of the traditional strategy. These results indicate that agri-food products can be transported quickly and freshly under direct delivery strategy. Consequently, considering carbon emissions, direct delivery logistics strategy are analyzed to have more positive effect on economic and environmental issues than existing logistics strategy. It is judged that direct strategy will also increase the freshness of agricultural products.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the difficulties and problems in the carbon dioxide production experiment and to suggest the device for the improvement. Many students have misconception for the smell of carbon dioxide. I found that the smell of carbon dioxide of producting through the experiment didn't concern with the quantity of calcium carbonate. I certificated that the smell of carbon dioxide was related with the concentration of hydrochloric acid. I built two trap applicaing suction in the gas production device to exclude fully the smell of carbon dioxide. So the smell of carbon dioxide was not present by passing the two trap. To find the ideal experimental conditions I perform the experiment step by step. As the result enough carbon dioxide to use for the property experiment was collected under the condition that is 60 mL of 3 molarity hydrochloric acid and 30 g calcium carbonate. I certificated to mesuring flowing quantity of carbon dioxide using the flow meter of carbon dioxide. In the improvement experiment of the property of carbon dioxide, I proposed the experiment device regarding as spreading of the gas and children's interest. To improve the problem of gas production experiment, I proposed the gas certification device using a thread.

  • BIM and its quantity take-off widely apply to the construction projects and LCCO2 Assessment using the BIM's quantity take-off function can be tried recently. Because BIM modeling programs such as Revit and ArchiCAD do not provide adequate library for LCCO2 Assessment, quantity take-off data should be conversed and applied to Carbon Emission Coefficient using Excel program or manual work. Therefore, the purpose of this research is 1) to propose the Unit Conversion Systems for Carbon Emission Coefficient, 2) to provide basic library sets for BIM based LCCO2 Assessment method, and 3) to apply 11 material library sets on a apartment unit plan modeling to pursue the CO2 emission evaluation of the material production in the process of LCCO2 Assessment. Research results showed CO2 emission amount of 458.64kgCO2/m2 from the apartment unit plan modeling.

  • In this study the experiments on the static adsorption of benzene were carried out using activated carbon made from sewage sludge. The experiment was performed at 303.15 K, 318.15 K and 333.15 K under the pressure up to 7.999kPa. Isothermal adsorption curves were obtained using Langmuir isotherm, Freundlich isotherm and Toth isotherm for comparison. Based on fitting the adsorption quantity of Benzene (q), the isothermal adsorption curves obtained from Langmuir isotherm and Toth isotherm showed the higher accuracy. Although there was little difference in accuracy between result from Langmuir isotherm and that from Toth isotherm, the adsorption quantity of Benzene (q) was expressed in terms of Langmuir isotherm because less parameters were required for Langmuir isotherm than for Toth isotherm. Moreover SEM images of the activated carbon from sewage sludge and the commercial activated carbon were taken to observe the pore size development. The results showed that the perforation development of the commercial activated carbon (DARCO A.C., SPG-100 A.C.) was better than that of activated carbon from sewage sludge. Adsorption quantity of benzene on commercial activated carbon was confirmed to be higher than that on activated carbon from sewage sludge. However the maximum adsorption quantity of benzene on activated carbon from sewage sludge was close to that on SGP-100 A.C. at 303.15K. Therefore, we may conclude that it is feasible to commercialize the process to manufacturing activated carbon from sewage sludge.
