Since bio-diesel oil has a merit that it satisfies both demand of substitution for fossil fuel and reduction in carbon dioxide emission, it is widely used in diesel engines by blending in gas oil in small quantity. It is needed to reduce in NOx emission in some way or others if blending ratio of bio-diesel oil is going to increase, because it is demerit that bio-diesel oil emits more NOx emission than gas oil. In this study, it was accomplished to optimize 3 factors what effect on NOx emission as blending ratio of bio-diesel oil, injection timing and common rail pressure with an introduction of a design of experiments, in order to minimize a number of tests. It was cleared that to introduce the design of experiments was very available in NOx optimization.

Recently, global warming problem is a major issue in international community. The carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) emissions in the construction industry is one of the main factors causing a global warming problem. Accordingly, various researches on $CO_2$ emissions caused by the construction industry is needed and construction methods which is low $CO_2$ emissions should be developed. In this study, $CO_2$emission cost is compared with roof waterproofing types in construction phase. As a result, the $CO_2$ emission costs of asphalt waterproofing is the highest. This research is to provide basic information for selecting appropriate construction methods in aspect of low $CO_2$ emission cost.
This article addresses potential errors in accounting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives' (ICLEI's) International Local Government Greenhouse Gas Emissions Analysis Protocol (IEAP). The IEAP seems to provide practical guidelines for local governments so that they can measure their GHG emissions. The outcomes are immediately convertible for any national GHG inventory analysis when one is constructed based on the methodology drafted by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Further, it provides a societal foundation at the global level in order for local governments to collectively deal with 'double-counting' and 'allocation' problems. However, ICLEI's IEAP overlooks two major issues: (1) the protocol does not consider carbon dioxide emissions due to burning biological fuel as a type of GHG emission; and (2) it overlooks the possibility of indirect double-counting when producing emission factors at the local level. Thus, the limitations must be fixed so that the local governments can measure their GHG emissions more precisely, while the accurate GHG inventory will ultimately support reducing the local governments' emissions to mitigate anthropogenic climate change.

Carbon finance is the investment in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction projects in developing countries and countries with economies in transition within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or Joint Implementation (JI) and with creation of financial instruments, i.e., carbon credits, which are tradable in carbon market. The additional revenue generated from carbon credits will increase the bankability of projects by reducing the risks of commercial lending or grant finance. Meantime, it has also demonstrated numerous opportunities for collaborating across sectors, and has served as a catalyst in bringing climate issues to bear in projects relating to rural electrification, renewable energy, energy efficiency, urban infrastructure, waste management, pollution abatement, forestry, and water resource management. Establishing additionality is essential for successful CDM project development. One of the key steps is the investment analysis. As guided by UNFCCC, financial indicators such as IRR, NPV, DSCR etc are most commonly used in both Option II & Option III. However, economic indicator such as Economic Internal Rate of Return(EIRR) are often overlooked in Option III even it might be more suitable for the project. This could be due to the difficulties in economic analysis. Although Asian Development Bank(ADB) has given guidelines in evaluating EIRR, there are still large amount of works have to be carried out in estimating the economic, financial, social and environmental benefits in the host country. This paper will present a case study of a CDM development of a 18 MW hydro power plant with carbon finance option in central Vietnam. The estimation of respective factors in EIRR, such as Willingness to Pay(WTP), shadow price etc, will be addressed with the adjustment to Vietnam local provincial factors. The significance of carbon finance to Vietnam renewable energy development will also be addressed.
Many countries over the world have acknowledged the global warming problem by greenhouse gas emission and tried to solve the problem. The Korean government has also taken many actions such as The Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth and on Promoting Green Building in that architectural building section takes 1/4 of national greenhouse gas emission. Under the situation that buildings constructed 15 years ago when insulation standards were reinforced take about 74%, The Plan on Vitalizing Green Remodeling, finally established on July 2013, will induce energy-efficient remodeling of deteriorated buildings. Using the energy simulation by the Visual DOE 4.0 program, this paper proposed the ways of energy-efficient remodeling of deteriorated high school buildings by measuring energy saving performance of factors that were drawn from the previous study. The factors considered are insulation, window's SHGC, south louver, system efficiency, and indoor setting temperature. Among them, all factors except SHGC proved contribution to reducing energy use at deteriorated high school buildings, compared with the baseline energy consumption.

In this study, pilot experiments were conducted by setting operation conditions to analyze characteristics of emission for air pollutant from small two-stroke engines. Emission factors of the measured concentration of pollutant were compared with EEA. Emission factor of CO analyzed by experiments - concentration, flow rate, fuel consumption, etc.- was estimated at 816,011 g-CO/ton-fuel in average. It was confirmed that more than 80% of the fuel consumption is discharged to the Carbon Monoxide, and that as the engine load becomes higher, emission factor of CO increases in the form of log function. The average emission factor of $NO_x$ and $PM_{10}$ was $3,801g-NO_x/ton-fuel$ and $3,730g-PM_{10}/ton-fue$l each. The deviation was not large by comparing the fuel-based emission factor of EEA and the result of this study. Since considerable pollutants are expected to be discharged from the small two-stroke engines, continuous research and support of the policy is required.

The increase of carbon monoxide in the ambient air due to the emissions from point sources without control was estimated using three -dimensional numerical models. The target area was Ulsan where one of the largest industrial complexes was located. As a typical example using numerical models for air quality impact analysis of criteria pollutants that will determine whether the air quality standards would be exceeded or not, the following approaches were suggested. They include: (1) investigation of pre-existing atmospheric conditions, (2) identification of major factors causing high concentrations, (3) selection of episode days. (4) preparation of three-dimensional meteorological data, (5) confirmation of agreement between measured and predicted concentrations in the emission conditions of episode days, and (6) estimation of the impact due to changes of the emission conditions. In the present work, daily meteorological conditions for the specific period were classified into four clusters of distinctive features, and the episode days were selected individually from each cluster. Emphasis was placed on the selection of episodes representing meteorological conditions conducive to high concentrations especially for point sources that were sensitive to the wind direction variations.

Environmental problems caused by GHG emitted by various industries are emerging around the world, and accordingly, relevant regulations are being applied by countries around the world. Korea is operating a carbon credit system that trades GHG in industry for money, which is expected to be applied to the construction industry. In addition, construction equipment using fossil fuels accounts for the largest portion of $CO_2$ emissions in the construction industry, and the importance of $CO_2$ reduction and prediction is increasing. However, there is a lack of data on the directly measured $CO_2$ emissions of construction equipment and there is no accurate methodology for measuring methods. Therefore, in this study, independent variables were derived based on the $CO_2$ emission data. In addition, multiple linear regression is performed for each independent variable to derive a predictive model of carbon dioxide emission by work type of construction equipment. It is expected that the construction process plan based on environmental factors in the construction industry can be established in the future.

Concerns for energy conservation, environmental pollution, and the fact that organic wastes account for a major portion of our waste materials, have created the interest of biogas, which usually contains about 60 to 70 percent methane, 30 to 40 percent carbon dioxide, and other gases, including ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans and other noxious gases. Cyclone combustors are used for homing a wide range of fuels such as low calorific value gas, waste water, sludge. coal, etc. The 3-dimensional swirling flow, combustion and emission in a tangential inlet cyclone incinerator under different inlet conditions are simulated using a standard k-s turbulence model and ESCRS (Extended Simple Chemically-Reacting System) model. The commercial code Phoenics Ver.3.4 was used for the present work. The main parameters considered in this work are inlet velocity and air to fuel ratio. The results showed that the change of operating conditions had an influence on the shape and size of recirculation zones, mixture fraction and axial velocity which are important factors for combustion efficiency and emission behavior. The application of this kind of computer program seams to be promising as a potential tool for the optimum design of a cyclone combustor with low emission.
Recently energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission issue are important problem on international society. The present study has been conducted economic analysis considering economical value of $CO_2$ reduction effect. We analyze annual energy cost and annual $CO_2$ emission of the cogeneration system and gas boiler system in hotel. The first results shows that annual energy cost of cogeneration system (751,740,126 won) is more profitable than gas boiler system (801,128,408 won) by 6.2% (49,388,281 won). The second results shows that annual $CO_2$ emission of cogeneration system (3,297 ton) is less than gas boiler system (3,536 ton) by 6.8% (239 ton). The Economical value of $CO_2$ reduction effect is 4,773,898 won. The cost effect according to the reduction of $CO_2$ is corresponding to 9.7% of reduction cost for total energy cost. The result of this study means that $CO_2$ reduction effect is essential item in introduction and change of facility for economic analysis.
