CO2 지열 히트펌프 사이클 모사에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Cycle Simulation for a Geothermal Heat Pump System using CO2 as Refrigerant)

  • 본 연구에서 개발된 정상상태 사이클 모사 프로그램을 통해 이산화탄소를 사용하는 지열 히트펌프 시스템의 성능을 고찰하였다. 내부열교환기를 포함하지 않는 기본 히트펌프 사이클의 성능에 대한 다양한 운전변수들의 영향을 조사하기 위해 매개변수 연구를 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션 프로그램은 실내기, 실외기, 압축기, 팽창밸브를 모사하는 포트란 서브루틴과 비주얼 베이식을 사용해 프로그램된 입력을 위한 전처리, 출력을 위한 후처리 프로세서를 포함하는 그래픽 인터페이스로 구성되어 있다. Refprop V6.01을 사용하여 이산화탄소의 열역학적 물성치와 상평형 거동을 계산하였다. 모사결과들의 신뢰성은 사례연구를 통한 실험데이터와의 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 사이클 모사 프로그램은 이산화탄소 지열 히트펌프 시스템의 경제적이면서도 효율적인 운전조건들을 결정하고 최적화하는 데 있어 유용한 도구가 될 수 있을 것이다.

예열기를 갖는 초임계 이산화탄소 동력 사이클의 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of a Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Power Cycle with Preheating)

  • 초임계 이산화탄소($S-CO_2$) 사이클은 소형화된 터보기계 및 열교환기를 통해서 작은 공간에서도 높은 열효율로 전력을 생산할 수 있는 잠재력을 가진 것으로 평가되고 있으며, 최근 이에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 원자력 및 태양열(CSP) 분야에서 $S-CO_2$ 사이클에 대한 연구 결과가 다수 소개되어 온 반면, 폐열 분야에 대한 연구 결과는 상대적으로 많지 않다. 본 연구에서는 폐열 회수 응용 분야에 있어서, 예열에 의한 $S-CO_2$ 사이클의 성능 향상 가능성을 살피기 위하여, 재생 $S-CO_2$ 브레이튼 사이클과 예열기를 갖는 재생 $S-CO_2$ 브레이튼 사이클을 모델링하고 시뮬레이션 하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 순출력을 극대화시키는 최적 $CO_2$ 분기율이 존재함을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 시뮬레이션 조건 하에서, 예열기에 의한 순출력 향상은 약 16-26%로 계산되었다.

Enhancement of Pyruvate Production by Torulopsis glabrata : through Supplement of Oxaloacetate as Carbon Source

  • The capability of utilizing a TCA cycle intermediates as the sole carbon source by the multi-vitamin auxotrophic yeast Torulopsis glabrata CCTCC M202019 was demonstrated with plate count method. It is indicated that T. glabrata could grew on a medium with one of the TCA cycle intermediates as the sole carbon source, but more colonies were observed when glucose, acetate and one of the TCA cycle intermediates coexisted in the medium. Among the intermediates of the TCA cycle examined in this study, cell growth was improved by supplementing oxaloacetate. Further investigation showed that the presence of acetate was necessary when oxaloacetate was supplemented. By supplementing with 10 g/L of oxaloacetate in pyruvate batch fermentation, dry cell weight increased from 11.8 g/L to 13.6 g/L, and pyruvate productivity was enhanced from $0.96\;gL^{-1}h^{-1}\;to\;1.19 gL^{-1}h^{-1}$ after cultivation of 56 h. The yield of pyruvate to glucose was also improved from 0.63 g/g to 0.66 g/g. These results indicate that under vitamins limitation, the productivity and yield of pyruvate could be enhanced via an increase of cell growth by the supplementation of oxaloacetate.

리튬폴리머전지용 정극활물질 $LiFePO_4$의 전기화학적 특성 향상 연구 (The Advanced Research on Electrochemical Properties of $LiFePO_4$ Cathode Materials for Lithium Polymer Batteries.)

  • The pure $LiFePO_4$, carbon added $LiFePO_4(LiFePO_4/C$) and pyrene added $LiFePO_4(LiFePO_4/P$) are synthesized by using solid-state reaction. XRD patterns show no impurity phase in the three kinds of the cathode materials. The 10wt% pyrene added $LiFePO_4$ shows around 140mAh/g of discharge capacity at 3rd cycle compared to the pure $LiFePO_4$. The carbon added $LiFePO_4$ shows 145mAh/g of discharge capacity at 3rd cycle and stable cycle-life compared to the others.

지하수 내 질산성 질소 반응-이동 모델링을 위한 부지특이적 탈질화 계수 선정 방안에 대한 고찰 (Determination of Site-specific Denitrification Rate for Nitrate Reactive Transport Modeling in Groundwater)

  • A simple and efficient scheme is presented that attempts to implement the site-specific denitrification rate in the reactive transport modeling for the nitrate in groundwater. A series of correlation analyses were conducted using 133 datasets obtained from different nitrate-contaminated sites to find the empirical relationships between denitrification rates and various subsurface properties. Based on Pearson's correlation analysis, the soil organic carbon concentrations showed a statistically significant correlation (r = 0.75, p < 0.05) with the denitrification rates. A linear regression was performed, which could be utilized to effectively determine the site-specific denitrification rate based on the soil organic carbon concentration of a site. The proposed method is expected to effectively replace the conventional methods which either were too complicated for practical application or impose large uncertainties that might end up with unreliable results.

  • A cryogenic Mixed Refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration cycle was designed to be applied to the semiconductor etching process with non-flammable constituents. 3-stage cascade refrigerator, single mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator, and 2-stage cascade type mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator are analyzed to figure out the coefficient of performance. Non-flammable mixture of argon(Ar), tetrafluoromethane(R14), trifluoromethane (R23) and octafluoropropane(R218) were utilized to analyze the refrigeration cycle efficiency. The designed refrigeration cycle was adapted to cool down the coolant of HFE7200(Ethoxy-nonafluorobutane, C4F9OC2H5) with certain constraints. Maximum coefficient of performance of the refrigeration system is obtained as 0.289 for the cooling temperature lower than -100℃. The detailed result of the coefficient of performance according to the mixture composition is discussed in this study.

  • Natural gas is a high-octane fuel that is effective in controlling knocking combustion. In addition, as a low-carbon fuel with a high hydrogen-carbon ratio, it emits less carbon dioxide and almost no particulate matter compared to conventional fossil fuels. Stoichiometric combustion engines equipped with a three-way catalyst are useful in various fields such as transportation and power generation because of their excellent exhaust emission reduction performance. However, stoichiometric combustion engines have a disadvantage of lower thermal efficiency compared to lean combustion engines. In this study, a combination of high compression ratio and Atkinson cycle was implemented in a 11 liter, 6-cylinder, spark-ignition engine to improve the thermal efficiency of the stoichiometric engine. As a result, pumping and friction losses were reduced and the operating range was extended with optimized Atkinson camshaft. Based on the exhaust gas limit temperature of 730℃, the maximum load and thermal efficiency were improved to BMEP 0.66 MPa and BTE 35.7% respectively.

Catalytic effects of heteroatom-rich carbon-based freestanding paper with high active-surface area for vanadium redox flow batteries

  • Owing to their scalability, flexible operation, and long cycle life, vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have gained immense attention over the past few years. However, the VRFBs suffer from significant polarization, which decreases their cell efficiency. The activation polarization occurring during vanadium redox reactions greatly affects the overall performance of VRFBs. Therefore, it is imperative to develop electrodes with numerous catalytic sites and a long cycle life. In this study, we synthesized heteroatom-rich carbon-based freestanding papers (H-CFPs) by a facile dispersion and filtration process. The H-CFPs exhibited high specific surface area (${\sim}820m^2g^{-1}$) along with a number of redox-active heteroatoms (such as oxygen and nitrogen) and showed high catalytic activity for vanadium redox reactions. The H-CFP electrodes showed excellent electrochemical performance. They showed low anodic and cathodic peak potential separation (${\Delta}E_p$) values of ~120 mV (positive electrolyte) and ~124 mV (negative electrolyte) in cyclic voltammetry conducted at a scan rate of $5mV\;s^{-1}$. Hence, the H-CFP-based VRFBs showed significantly reduced polarization.

에디 공분산 기반의 플럭스 타워 관측자료를 이용한 두만강 유역 습지 생태계 CO2 흡수량 분석 (Estimating carbon dioxide uptake in wetland ecosystems of Tumen River Basin using eddy covariance flux data)

  • In the context of rapid temperature rise in mid-to-high latitude regions, cold region wetlands have become a hotspot for current wetland carbon cycle research due to their high sensitivity to climate change. Strengthening the monitoring of CO2 fluxes in wetland ecosystems is of great practical significance for clarifying the carbon balance of wetlands and maintaining the ecological balance of wetland ecosystems in China's high latitude regions. In this study, the carbon flux (NEE, Net ecosystem exchange; GPP, Gross Primary Production; RECO, Ecosystem response) of Jingxin Wetland was monitored by eddy correlation method from August 2021 to March 2024.2022-2023 shows CO2 sinks, absorbing 349.4 g C·m-2·yr-1 annually. The correlation analysis showed that Ta, VPD and PPFD were the main environmental factors affecting CO2 flux in Jingxin wetland.

Study on the Fundamental Technologies of ATREX Engine

  • This paper reviews the latest studies of the expander cycle Air Turbo Ramjet engine (ATREX) conducted in JAXA. First, a system analysis including the vehicle and trajectory was conducted to optimize the engine cycle and turbo-machine configuration. We selected the precooled turbo-jet cycle for a prototype engine using the near term technologies. Second, a system ground-firing test was conducted to verify a defrosting system for the precooler. Methanol injection with its particles atomization could compensate 80 % of pressure loss caused by the frost. Thirdly, a feasibility of carbon/carbon composites for the engine components was investigated by making complex shapes such as a heat exchanger and a plug nozzle. Basic technologies on the gas leakage, the junction and bonding were also studied. The end of the paper, some basic studies such as wind tunnel tests of a new type air inlet and a plug nozzle are described.
