  • Recently, the most brand new vehicles contain a lot of ECU for comfortable and safety driving environments. For efficient communication network among ECUs, almost car manufactures use CAN protocol which enables to decrease the number of communication lines dramatically and ensures higher data transmission reliability. However, CAN dose not ensure authentication of CAN data frame. So it is vulnerable to replay-attack on CAN data frame. This paper proposes the practical message authentication technique for In-vehicle CAN. To transmit data and MAC together, it is very useful to use the short length of MAC after considering limited space of CAN data frame. However to ensure safety of MAC, additional technique is required. We suggested a message authentication technique that can be usefully applied to build a safety network inside the vehicle because it considers limited data payload of CAN.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop an integrated interface for the usability test of systems or products in the design process. It is capable of automatically creating GOMS models which can predict human task performances. It can generate GOMS models to be interacted with the prototype interfaces. It can also effectively manage various design information and various usability test results to be implemented into the new product and/or system design. Thus we can perform usability test for products or system prototypes more effectively and also reduce time and effort required for this test. For usability tests, we established an integrated interface based on GOMS model by the LabVIEW program. We constructed the system that the linkage to GOMS model is available. Using this integrated interface, the menu structure of mobile phone can be constructed easily. User can design a depth and a breath that he want. The size of button and the label of the button is changable. The path to the goal can be defined by the user. Using a designed menu structure, the experiment could be performed. The results of GOMS model and the actual time are presented. Besides, values of operators of GOMS model can be defined as the value that user wants. Using the integrated interface that we developed, the optimal menu structure deducted. The menu structure that user wants can be established easily. The optimal layout and button size can be decided by comparison of numerous menu structures. User can choose the method of usability test among GOMS model and empirical data. Using this integrated interface, the time and costs can be saved and the optimal menu structure can be found easily.

  • Many consumers are opting for online booking over traditional booking systems. Customers can actively seek out information about hotels and lodging services, as well as book rooms, at any time and from any location. Customers also feel more supported when they interact with virtual assistants or professionals. Recognizing this issue, several hotels have focused on improving their websites by incorporating aspects that encourage customers to book directly through the hotel's website. The study's goal is to discover what factors impact people's decisions to book a hotel stay through the hotel's website. Therefore, hotel managers and owners can make decisions to improve the hotel website to attract residents to Can Tho City. The factors are website quality, affective commitment, social presence, and e-trust that affect customers' decision to book through the hotel website. The study uses quantitative methods to collect data from 180 residents living in Can Tho. Through data analysis on SPSS and Amos software, the research results show that three factors considered, namely website quality, affective commitment, and social presence, positively influence customers' booking decisions. This finding also suggests that e-trust is less critical to residents in Can Tho City, different from what the study had predicted.

  • This paper is about IoT(Internet of Things)-based smart trash can. In modern society, waste disposal creates several social problems. In particular, large floating populations cause a problem in the city center on weekends as the waste disposal capacity cannot keep up with the amount of waste discharged. There are problems such as stinks, unpleasant aesthetics, and insects caused by overflowing garbage. To solve this problem, a smart trash can was proposed. The proposed smart trash can provide a garbage compression function, an automatic opening and closing of the trash can lid, a display of the amount of garbage, and monitoring and control of the trash can. It is expected that the proposed 'smart trash can' can be usefully used for outdoor waste disposal with a large floating population.

  • This paper presents design methodology, encient verification and implementation of a CAN protocol controller. The design methodology uses a heuristic technique to make the design flexible and cost effective. Using the design methodology, we created architecture for a CAN controller which has flexible and low cost features. For faster time-to-market and reliable operation of the designed CAN protocol controller, we p개posed a three-step verification process which uses three different kinds of verification techniques. The goal of this three-step verification is to reduce the number of test sequences in order to rapidly implement the design without loss of reliability for faster time-to-market. The designed CAN protocol controller was fabricated using a 0.35 micrometer CMOS technology.

  • This paper presents a dynamic precedence queue mechanism to resolve unexpected transmission delay of a lower priority transaction in a CAN based system which keeps a fixed priority in data transactions. The mechanism is implemented in the upper sub-layer of the data link layer (DLL), which is fully compatible with the original medium access control layer protocol of CAN. Thus the mechanism can be implemented dynamically while the data transactions are going on without any hardware modification. The CAN protocol was originally developed to be used in the automotive industry and it was recently applied for a broader class of automated factories. Even though CAN is able to satisfy most of real-time requirements found in automated environments, it is not to enforce either a fair subdivision of the network bandwidth among the stations or a satisfactory distribution of the access delays in message transmissions. The proposed solution provides a superset of the CAN logical link layer control, which can coexist with the older CAN applications. Through the real experiments, effectiveness of the proposed mechanism is verified.

  • The CAN is a serial communication protocol for distributed real-time control and automation systems. Data generated from field devices in the distributed control of power plant are classified into three categories: real-time event data, real-time control data, non-real-time data. These data share a CAN medium. If the traffic of the CAN protocol is not efficiently controlled, performance requirements of the power plant system could not be satisfied. This paper proposes a bandwidth allocation algorithm that can be applicable to the CAN protocol. The bandwidth allocation algorithm not only satisfies the performance requirements of the real-time systems in the power plant but also fully utilizes the bandwidth of CAN. The bandwidth allocation algorithm introduced in this paper is validated using the integrated discrete-event/continuous-time simulation model which comprises the CAN network and distributed control system of power plant.

  • When a node in automotive CAN bus is hacked, such node should be blocked to prevent severe danger in the car. In order to do that, such node should be uniquely identified. However, there is no way to identify individual nodes in a CAN bus. In this paper, a physical layer security method is proposed where individual nodes are identified by assigning unique ID to the nodes during booting process. The proposed method was implemented in a CAN controller using Verilog HDL, and it is verified that the node ID auto-setting and internal attack defense are successfully performed.

  • Usually the static scheduling algorithms such as DMS (Deadline Monotonic Scheduling) or RMS(Rate Monotonic Scheduling) are used for CAN scheduling due to its ease with implementation. However, due to their inherently low utilization of network media, some dynamic scheduling approaches have been studied to enhance the utilization. In case of dynamic scheduling algorithms, two considerations are needed. The one is a priority inversion due to rough deadline encoding into stricted arbitration fields of CAN. The other is an arbitration delay due to the non-preemptive feature of CAN. In this paper, an extended algorithm is proposed from an existing EDS(Earliest Deadline Scheduling) approach of CAN scheduling algorithm haying a solution to the priority inversion. In the proposed algorithm, the available bandwidth of network media can be checked dynamically by all nodes. Through the algorithm, arbitration delay causing the miss of their deadline can be avoided in advance. Also non real-time messages can be processed with their bandwidth allocation. The proposed algorithm can achieve full network utilization and enhance aperiodic responsiveness, still guaranteeing the transmission of periodic messages.
