기상인자가 미세먼지 농도에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Meteorological Factors on PM10 Concentration in Incheon)

  • In this study, we have analyzed $PM_{10}$ concentration measured at Incheon Regional Air Monitoring Network (10 stations) and meteorological data at Incheon Weather Station to investigate factors (i.e. wind direction, wind speed, relative humidity, major meteorological phenomenon, and sea-land breezes existence) influencing $PM_{10}$ concentration in Incheon during 2005. Statistical differences among meteorological factors were assessed by Kruskal-Wallis test or Mann-Whitney U test. The main conditions causing high $PM_{10}$ concentration are summarized below; 1. When westerly wind prevailed (however, $PM_{10}$ decreased when winds were blowing from the east or north). 2. When the winds were calm, owing to accumulation of nearby emissions under stagnant conditions, or when the wind speed is in excess of 6 m/s, which shows the effect of fugitive dust produced by wind erosion. 3. Under the condition of high relative humidity and poor diffusion based on meteorological phenomenon such as fog, mist, and haze. 4. When the Sea-Land breezes existed, which occurred 70 days in Incheon during 2005 and contributed significantly to high $PM_{10}$ concentration in the coastal urban area. In conclusion, we have found that the meteorological factors have influence on $PM_{10}$ concentration in Incheon.

서울.수도권 지역 고농도 오존 사례의 지상 및 종관 기상 특성 (Characteristics of Surface and Synoptic Meteorology During High-Ozone Episodes in the Greater Seoul Area)

  • Meteorological characteristics of three high-ozone episodes in the Greater Seoul Area, selected on the basis of morning-average wind direction and speed for the 1990~1997 period, were investigated. Three high-ozone episodes thus selected were seven days of July 3~9, 1992, nine days of July 21~29, 1994, and three days of August 22~24, 1994. Along with surface meteorological data from the Seoul Weather Station, surface and 850-hPa wind fields over the Northest Asia around the Korean Peninsula were used for the analysis. In the July 1992 episode, westerly winds were most frequent as a result of the influence of a high-pressure system in the west behind the trough. In contrast, in the July 1994 episode, easterly winds were most frequent due to the effect of a typhoon moving north from the south of Japan. Despite different prevailing wind directions in the two episodes, the peak ozone concentration of each episode always occurred when a sea-land breeze developed in association with weak synoptic forcing. The August 1994 episode, selected as being representative of calm conditions, was another typical example in which peak ozone concentration rose to 322 ppb under the well-developed sea-land breeze. All three high-ozone episodes were terminated by precipitation, and subsequent rises in ozone concentrations were also suppressed by a series of precipitation afterwards. In particular, two heavy rainfalls were the main reason why the August 1994 episode, with the highest and second-highest ozone concentrations during the 1990~1997 period, lasted for only a few days.

랜덤 감쇠기법을 이용한 분할모형의 접수 감쇠계수 추정 (Wet Damping Estimation of the Segmented Hull Model using the Random Decrement Technique)

  • This paper presents the wet damping estimation of the segmented hull model using the random decrement technique together with the continuous wavelet transform. The tested 16 sea states are grouped together based on the speed of the ship in order to figure out the possible influence of the ship speed on the damping ratio. The measured time histories of vertical bending moment for each tested sea state were processed with random decrement technique to derive the free decay signal, from which the damping ratios are estimated. Also, the autocorrelation functions of the filtered signal were calculated and comparison was made with the free decay signal obtained from the random decrement technique. Then the wet damping ratios for each sea state group, as well as precise wet natural frequencies, are estimated by using continuous wavelet transform. It turned out that the wet natural frequencies derived from the measured signal did not show any significant discrepancy compared with those obtained by wet hammering test, whereas the damping ratio did. It was considered that the discrepancy of the damping ratio between in calm and moving water may be attributed to the viscous effects caused by dramatically different flow pattern and relative velocity between the vibrating structure and surrounding fluid particles.

동해안 너울성 고파의 발생역 추정법 개발 (Development of Method to Predict Source Region of Swell-Like High Waves in the East Sea)

  • 본 연구에서는 동해안에 고파가 내습한 시점을 대상으로 관측 파랑자료와 미국 국립해양대기청(NOAA)에서 추산한 기상 예측자료를 통합 분석하였으며, 기상예측자료를 이용한 동해안 파랑예측시스템을 구축하였다. 또한, 파랑 예측결과를 관측자료와 비교하여 적용성을 확인하였다. 동해안 연안에는 2회 파고가 증가하고 2차 파고 증가 시 연안 기상조건은 양호한 경우도 있어 피해가 우려된다. 2008년 2월에 관측된 파랑 관측자료를 이용하여 고파의 전파방향을 추정하였으며, 기상자료와 비교를 통해 2번째 증가시기 파랑의 발생역이 동해 연안에서 멀리 떨어진 러시아와 일본 사이 해역임을 확인하였다.

  • 남해 중부해역에서 적조발생과 관련해서 적조 다발월인 여름과 초가을에 기온과 마찬가지로 높은 수온을 유지한다. 또한 많은 강수량에 의하여 부유물질 및 영양염류가 증가하고 염분이 대체로 떨어지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이때 적조의 bloom으로 인하여 대표적인 영양염류인 질소와 인의 값이 떨어진다. 그리고 적조생물의 사후 미생물 분해 작용이 활발하여 산소의 소모가 증가하여 용존산소가 급격히 떨어지고 화학적산소요구량이 높게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이때 식물성플랑크톤의 성장 제한인자로 작용하는 부유물질, 인산염, 질산염의 공간분포도를 이용해서 적조발생의 잠재력을 지닌 최적지를 결정하였는데, 최적지로서는 여수∼돌산해역, 가막만 북부지역, 남해 일부해역, 나로도해역, 고흥 남부의 일부 연안, 득량만과 인접한 고흥 서부 해역이었다.

한반도 남서해안의 기후학적 연안지대의 경계와 특징 (Climatological Boundary and Characteristics of Coastal Zone over the Southwestern Korean peninsula)

  • 한반도 남서해안에서 연안지대의 기후학적 특성을 조사하기 위해 AWS(automatic weather system)와 4개 지점의 부이자료를 사용하였다. 연안지대를 기후학적으로 정의하였는데 해안선을 가로지르는 풍속과 온도의 기울기에 있어서 뚜렷이 대비가 나타나는 지대로 정의하였고, 연안지대가 고정적인 것이 아니라 종관풍에 따라 변동될 수 있다는 것을 보였다. 한반도의 남해와 서해에서 부이와 나란한 AWS지점으로 구성된 4개의 단면도선을 거제도부이라인, 거문도부이라인, 칠발도부이라인, 덕적도부이라인으로 선택하였다. 일주기와 월변동의 분석에서 월별평균과 극값, 부이와 각 지점간의 온도경도와 풍속의 누적빈도수가 연안의 범위와 특징을 조사하는데 응용되었다. 그 결과 연안지대의 최대범위는 거제도부이라인은 offshore에서 생림(해안선에서 약 34 km), 거문도부이라인은 순천(약 52 km), 칠발도부이라인은 자은도(약 27 km), 덕적도부이라인은 용인(약 65 km)으로 분석되었다. 종관풍에 따른 연안지대의 변동을 onshore, offshore, calm에 대해 조사하였다. 그 결과 onshore 일 때 연안지대의 범위는 65∼90 km로 변화한다. 더욱 우리는 태풍(MAEMI)에 의해 영향을 받은 2003년 9월 12일∼13일 동안에 거제도부이라인에 대한 풍속과 온도의 변화와 해상과 육상의 풍속비를 알기 위해 조사하였다.

개구부가 좁은 직사각형 항만의 공진특성(1.현장관측과 자료 분석) (Resonant Characteristics in Rectangular Harbor with Narrow Entrance (1.Field Measurements and Data Analyses))

  • 입구폭이 좁고 직사각형 형태인 감천항에서 수압식 파고계를 이용한 장·단주기파 및 유속계를 이용한 항입구 유속관측을 실시하였다. 수압 자료에 경향 제거와 Butterworth 고주파수 통과 필터를 적용하여 조석 성분을 제거하였다. 스펙트럼 밀도의 평활화시 주파수폭을 일정하게 유지하는 일정평활화법에 비해 저주파수에서 고주파수로 가면서 폭을 증가시키는 점증평활화법이 장·단주기측에서 모두 만족할 만한 해상도를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 후자를 현장관측 자료에 적용하여 구한 스펙트럼 밀도와 상대진폭비를 기준하여 감천항의 부진동 모드를 검토하였다. 전체 자료를 분석한 결과 감천항의 Helmholtz 공진 모드는 주기 31.7분에서 상대진폭비 9.2를 보여 동해안의 여러 항만에 비해 상당히 큰 값을 나타냈으며, 제 2 및 제 3 공진주기는 10.3분과 5.4분으로 제시되었다. 한편, 길이를 1일로 분할한 자료들의 분석결과 폭풍시에는 평상시에 비해 스펙트럼 밀도가 매우 컸을 뿐만 아니라 제2 및 제 3 공진의 출현 현상이 우세한 것으로 나타났다.

목포연안지역의 안개특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Characteristics of Fog in the Coastal Area of Mokpo)

  • In this study, characteristics of fog at Mokpo as the west coastal area of Jeonnam were investigated, using statistical analysis of observed fog and meteorological data. Higher frequency of the fog occurrence at Mokpo was showed in spring(32%) and summer(34%) due to the seasonal high atmospheric pressure. Regional characteristics as radiation cooling, advection of fog and water vapor from surrounding sea and Yeongsan lake, and frontal fog had major effect on the coastal fog at Mokpo on the meteorological conditions of north-west/south wind and calm($0{\sim}2m/s$). Also, as the results of analyzing data of before and after the construction of Yeongsan dam, the frequency of annual mean fog days increased 41 %, specially increased 178% in autumn. The increase of fog days mainly resulted from evaporation during colder seasons and from temperature inversion during warmer seasons over the water surface of Yeongsan lake. The construction of Yeongsan dam had a little effect on the meteorological conditions concerning fog occurrence, because Yeongsan dam which only supplies the water for use do not always carry out outlet of the cold water. In addition, the sea fog at Heuksando located in offshore had not effect on the occurrence of fog at Mokpo.

3D printing of multiple container models and their trajectory tests in calm water

  • More and more shipping containers are falling into the sea due to bad weather. Containers lost at sea negatively affect the shipping line, the trader and the consumer, and the environment. The question of locating and recovering dropped containers is a challenging engineering problem. Model-testing of small-scaled container models is proposed as an efficient way to investigate their falling trajectories to salvage them. In this study, we first build a standard 20-ft container model in SOLIDWORKS. Then, a three-dimensional (3D) geometric model in the STL (Standard Tessellation Language) format is exported to a Stratasys F170 Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer. In total, six models were made of acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) and printed for the purpose of testing. They represent three different loading conditions with different densities and center of gravity (COG). Two samples for each condition were tested. The physical models were dropped into the towing tank of University of New Orleans (UNO). From the experimental tests, it is found that the impact of the initial position after sinking can cause a certain initial rolling velocity, which may have a great impact on the lateral displacement, and subsequently affect the final landing position. This series of model tests not only provide experimental data for the study of the trajectory of box-shape objects but also provide a valuable reference for maritime salvage operations and for the pipeline layout design.

이동 중인 구조보트 내에서 수기가슴압박과 기계가슴압박의 질 비교 (A comparison of the quality of manual and mechanical chest compressions in a moving rescue boat)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine effective chest compression methods that could be used when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation in rocking boats. Methods: Tests were conducted for four minutes using manual and mechanical chest compressions on two mannequins, placed in boats, and moving at a speed of 35km/hours on calm sea surfaces with wave heights of 0.5m and wind speeds of 2-3m/s (testing for two minutes, followed by rest, then a second round of testing for two minutes). To compare the quality of the chest compressions, data were analyzed using mannequins (Resusci Anne Q-CPR, Laerdal, Norway) and then statistically processed. Results: When chest compressions were administered in the moving rescue boat, an accuracy analysis showed that the pressure speed of the hand and mechanical techniques were normal, h owever, the pressure depth accuracies were 49.04% for manual techniques and 0% for mechanical techniques. The relaxation accuracies during compressions were 2.07% for manual techniques and 95.4% for mechanical techniques. Conclusion: When administering chest compressions in rocking rescue boats, mechanical rather than manual techniques should be preferentially considered.
