The aim of this research work is to investigate the mix proportion of multi-component cement incorporating ground granulated blast furnace(GGBFS), fly ash(FA) and silica fume(SF) as an addition to cement in ternary and quaternary combinations. The water-binder ratio was 0.45. In this study, 50% and 60% replacement ratios of mineral admixture to OPC was used, while series of combination of 20~40% GGBFS, 5~35% FA and 0~15% SF binder were used for fundamental characteristics tests. This study concern the GGBFS/FA ratio and SF contents of multi-component cement including the compressive strength, water absorptions, ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV), drying shrinkage and X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysises. The results show that the addition of SF can reduce the water absorption and increase the compressive strength, UPV and drying shrinkage. These developments in the compressive strength, UPV and water absorption can be attributed to the fact that increase in the SF content tends basically to consume the calcium hydroxide crystals released from the hydration process leading to the formation of further CSH(calcium silicate hydrate). The strength, water absorption and UPV increases with an increase in GGBFS/FA ratios for a each SF contents. The relationship between GGBFS/FA ratios and compressive strength, water absorption, UPV is close to linear. It was found that the GGBFS/FA ratio and SF contents is the key factor governing the fundamental properties of multi-component cement.
Dyeing process of the natural indigo powder onto ramie and silk fabrics was investigated by using glucose and calcium hydroxide as a reducing system. Effect of reduction and dyeing conditions such as temperature and time of reduction/dyeing, and concentrations of glucose and calcium hydroxide on the dyeing process were explored. Indigo powder was obtained by drying the conventional niram paste in an oven at $50^{\circ}C$. Color strength of the dyed fabrics was evaluated by K/S value measured at the wavelength of maximum absorption(${\lamda}$max). Munsell color coordinates(H V/C) were used to compare fabric colors of ramie and silk. Ramie fabric showed purple-blue color for all the temperature and time. On the contrary, silk fabric showed wide range of color including brown, brown-green, green at the different temperature. With the increase of K/S value, the coordinate of value(lightness) decreased for both of ramie and silk fabrics. The coordinate of hue(shade) changed drastically with the increase of K/S value for silk fabric, compared with that of ramie fabric which showed nearly constant value at the whole range of K/S value. Optimum concentrations of calcium hydroxide were for 6 g/L for ramie and 4 g/L for silk at $60^{\circ}C$ and 50 min. K/S value increased with the indigo concentration. Maximum K/S value was shown at $10{\sim}12$ g/L of glucose concentration. For both of ramie and silk fabrics, the colorfastness of washing and light was lower than that of rubbing. All the colorfastness values were improved with the increase of color strength.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the role of Silicon accumlated in rice plant under different conditions of light and humidity, using radioisotopes Ca-45, Mn-54, and P-32. This results obtained in are as follows; 1. Light effect is more severe in phosphate uptake by rice plant than is calcium. Amounts of phosphate uptake in light condition is six times more than in dark conditions, while that of calcium is double. 2. Change of relative humidity affects calcium absorption and transport from root to shoot. It seems not to be influenced in phosphate and manganese uptake by relative humidity. 3. More uptake of each element Ca-45, P-32, or Mn-54 was found in the rice plant applied with silicic acid. It is considered that there must be some relationship between silicon content and ion uptake in rice plant. 4. The transport ratio of nutrient from root to shoot shows a specific pattern that calcium is approximately 1.0 manganese 0.5 and phosphate 0.2 respectively.
The effects of some sodium phosphates as auxiliary agents were studied on the blockade of hardness for silk degumming. In this work, four kinds of sodium phosphates were tested and the results were obtained through masking effects of metallic ions, difference of pH value and boil-off ratio. The degumming of calcium ingredient was analyzed by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometer and degumming test of cocoon shell was performed in the presence of calcium ingredient and sodium phosphates added to soap solution. In the view of the effects of sodium phosphates on calcium hardness, tetrasodium pyrophosphate(TSPP) and sodium phosphate dibasic(SPD) masked calcium ions more than sodium phosphate monobasic(SPM) and sodium hexametaphosphate(SHP). SHP and TSPP have excellent abilities of masking ferrous ions. The pH values of TSPP solution is higher than others, but lower than soap solution. The pH values were differently measured one another among the sodium phosphates but the boil-off ratio was increased in case of sodium phosphate with high pH value.
Cellulose diacetate (CDA) and calcium carbonate ($CaCO_3$) biodegradable composites were prepared by melt mixing in a twin screw extruder and their physical properties were examined. In the melt processing, triacetine and epoxidized soybean oil were added to the composites as a plasticizer and lubricant, respectively. The optimal conditions for the preparation of the biodegradable composites were determined. Acetic acids ($CH_3COOH$) were made by pyrolysis acetyl group ($-OC (O)CH_3$) of CDA and TA in melt processing. Increasing the amount of $CaCO_3$ in the composites resulted in further enhancement of the $CH_3COOH$ absorption effects. The tensile strength and elongation were decreased, and Young's modulus and $T_g$ value increased with increasing amount of $CaCO_3$.
It has been more than three decades since the first assay assessing circulating 25 (OH)D in human subjects was performed That publication as well as several that followed it defined 'normal' nutritional vitamin D status in human populations. Recently, the wisdom by which 'normal' circulating 25 (OH)D levels in human subjects were assigned in the past has come under question. It appears that sampling human subjects, who appear to be free from disease, and assessing 'normal' circulating 25 (OH)D levels by plotting a Gaussian distribution is grossly inaccurate. There are many reasons why this method is inaccurate, including race, lifestyle habits, sunscreen usage, age, latitude, and inappropriately low dietary recommendations for vitamin D. For instance, a 400 IU/day. AI for vitamin D is insignificant when one considers that a 10-15 minute whole body exposure to peak summer sun will generate and release up to 20,000 IU vitamin $D_3$ into the circulation. Recent studies, which orally administered up to 10,000 IU/day vitamin $D_3$ to human subjects for several months, have successfully elevated circulating 25 (OH)D levels to those observed in individuals from sun-rich environments. Further, we are now able to accurately assess sufficient circulating 25 (OH)D levels utilizing specific biomarkers instead of guessing what an adequate level is. These biomarkers include intact parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcium absorption, bone mineral density (BMD), insulin resistance and pancreatic beta cell function. Using the data from these biomarkers, vitamin D deficiency should be defined as circulating levels of 25 (OH)D$\leq$30 ng/mL. In certain cases, such as pregnancy and lactation, significantly higher circulating 25 (OH)D levels would almost certainly be beneficial to both the mother and recipient fetus/infant.

Layered metal hydroxides (LMHs) containing calcium were synthesized by coprecipitation in solution having two different trivalent metal ions, iron and aluminum. Two mixed metal solutions ($Ca^{2+}/Al^{3+}$ and $Ca^{2+}/Fe^{3+}$ = 2/1) were added to sodium hydroxide solution and the final pH was adjusted to ~11.5 and ~13 for CaAl-and CaFe-LMHs. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) for the two LMH samples showed well developed ($00l$) diffractions indicating 2-dimensional crystal structure of the synthesized LMHs. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction pattern, the local structure analysis through X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and thermal analysis also confirmed that the synthesized precipitates show typical structure of LMHs. The chemical formulae, $Ca_{2.04}Al_1(OH)_6(NO_3){\cdot}5.25H_2O$ and $Ca_{2.01}Fe_1(OH)_6(NO_3){\cdot}4.75H_2O$ were determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Particle morphology and thermal behavior for the synthesized LMHs were examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetricdifferential scanning calorimetry.

Periodontal disease is a bacterially causal by disease, To remove plaque and bacteria, it has been necessary to prescribe chemical drug to patient to subjugate therapeutic unvalue by mechanical scaling. As a patient on a high dosage of the antibiotics to maintain the effective concentration may produce unfavorable side effects, this decase demands the Slow-release local drug delivery system. The object of the experiment is to study on the slow-release local drug delivery effects of calcium sulfate compounded with tetracycline that mainly used in periodontal disease. Experimental groups were divided into four classes as follow: Group 1 10% tetracycline compounded modified calcium sulfate paste. Group 2 : compounded and hardened 10% tetracycline and calcium sulfate. Group 3 : compounded 10% tetracycline and calcium sulfate, used Just before hardened. Group 4 : tetracycline-ethylene vinyl acetate fiber. In the four groups, release concentration, it's durability and the period of absorption by times are observed and concluded as follow: 1. An effective concentration($4{\mu}g/ml$) remained until 5 weeks in group 1, 9 days in group 2, 7 days in group 3, 15 days in group 4. 2. It was fully fused at 11.8 days average in group 2 and 14.8 days average in group 3. . There were no statistically significant results in tetracycline concentration until a week in group 2 and 3(p<0.05) These results suggest that tetracycline loaded calcium sulfate release sufficient tetracycline and fused in $11{\sim}14$ days, so calcium sulfate is useful carrier as slow release local drug delivery system.
This study was carried out to clarify the effect of dietary calcium, casein and suet on intestinal absorption of cadmium in mice. It was performed for 30 days, from April 11, to May 10, 1988. Ninety mice were devided into 4 experimental groups and control group with 6 mice each dietary group, and measured survival ratio, body weight and weight ratio of organ to body. The contents of cadmium in liver, kidney, spleen, muscle and skin with hair, and feces were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer after sacrifice by anesthesia. The ratio of survival after 30 day breeding was $100\%$ in control group, but $66.7\%$ in group IV(basal diet + Cd + Ca) with $100{\mu}g$ one dose and with 50ppm cadmium containing fluid free-intake, and group V (basal diet + Cd + suet) with free-intake of 50ppm containing cadmium fluid. The ratio of body weight gains in cases of single dose $100{\mu}g$ of cadmium was highest as $42.3\%$ in group IV and lowest as $26.0\%$ in group V, in cases of free-intake of 50ppm containing cadmium fluid was highest as $24.0\%$ in group IV and lowest as $11.6\%$ in group II (basal diet + Cd). The body weight, in the case of single dose of $100{\mu}g$ of cadmium showed no increase untill 5th day from acute poisoning. While in case of free-intake of 50ppm containing cadmium, it showed very slight increase through all breeding period. The weight ratio of organ to body were lowest in liver of group II in both occasions. The most of cadmium administered was excreated in feces within 2 days after single dose $100{\mu}g$ cadmium. The contents of cadmium in all tissues were significantly high in each group comparing to control group as liver, kidney, spleen and muscle of group II which showed the highest level in both occasions of $100{\mu}g$ one dose and free-intake of 50ppm containing cadmium fluid, and higher in group II of the occasion with $100{\mu}g$ single dose, and in group V of the occasion of 50ppm containing cadmium fluid free-inatke for skin with hair. And the content of cadmium in tissues is generally higher in the occasion of 50ppm containing cadmium free-intake than $100{\mu}g$ single dose. From the above results I conclude that the addition of casein, calcium and suet in cadmium containing diet is effective to inhibtion of intestinal absorption of cadmium by particularly, calcium.
