Magnetic Field Reduction Characteristics of Shielding Wear Materials for Workers Using AC Arc Welder (교류 아크용접기를 사용하는 작업자의 차폐복 재질에 따른 자계저감 특성검토)

  • Power cable of an AC arc welder can surround a body of worker at the moment of welding. Applying the boundary element method, we calculated current densities induced in organs inside a worker to study the magnetic field reduction characteristics of shielding wear materials. We knew shielding wear with high permeability materials lowers current density more than high conductivity materials. We also found current density was lowest when high permeability materials were inside high conductivity materials in double layer shielding wear.

  • Gas metal arc welding(GMAW) uses a continuously fed electrode as a filler metal. The arc is shielded from atmospheric contamination by an inert gas active or inert/active gas mixture delivered through the welding gun and cable assembly. The recent research topics on $CO_2$ are welding machines are focused mainly on the reduction method of generated spatter by using new type consumable electrode metal or inverter control method. The various current waveform control methods have been researched for welding performance improvement. Until now current waveform control methods reduce to spatter occurred by instantaneous short circuiting,. but these methods is drawback that no reduce spatter occurred by arc reignition. In this paper the previous arc reignition current control method for welding performance improvement of inverter arc welding machine is studied and compared the various current control methods with the previous arc reignition current control method.

Rapid assessment of suspension bridge deformation under concentrated live load considering main beam stiffness: An analytical method

  • With the gradual implementation of long-span suspension bridges into high-speed railway operations, the main beam's bending stiffness contribution to the live load response permanently grows. Since another critical control parameter of railway suspension bridges is the beam-end rotation angle, it should not be ignored by treating the main beam deflection as the only deformation response. To this end, the current study refines the existing method of the main cable shape and simply supported beam bending moment analogy. The bending stiffness of the main beam is considered, and the main beam's analytical expressions of deflection and rotation angle in the whole span are obtained using the cable-beam deformation coordination relationship. Taking a railway suspension bridge as an example, the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed analytical method are verified by the finite element method (FEM). Comparison of the results by FEM and the analytical method ignoring the main beam stiffness revealed that the bending stiffness of the main beam strongly contributed to the live load response. Under the same live load, as the main beam stiffness increases, the overall deformation of the structure decreases, and the reduction is particularly noticeable at locations with original larger deformations. When the main beam stiffness is increased to a certain extent, the stiffening effect is no longer pronounced.

  • With a rapid industrialization, repair and strengthening methods for a damaged bridges are raised a head in face of safety and reduction of physical distribution costs of bridges. Above all, external prestressing method has the high adaptability for concrete structures and the reliable effect of strengthening. Innovative ideas for bridges strengthening were considered along with established methods. That methods are identified, described. However there is not a systematic and categorized manual for external prestressing method. This study will provide a systematic and reliable manual with investigating the arrangement shape of cable and characteristics of brackets. And the key result of this study is an extensive compilation, which can be used by practicing engineers, of the most effective techniques for strengthening existing bridges.

  • Conventional HP(high pressure) sodium or Metal-halide lamps have a life span of around one year requiring at least annual replacement and maintenance. High Power LED lights require no regular maintenance further increasing savings on replacement bulbs, access equipment and labour costs. New installations benefit from a substantial reduction in the cost of expensive heavy duty cable required for sodium lighting. Especially, LED light can achieve variable color temperature, high functional performance in the field of street light. There are two main method to achieve variable color temperature function of the street light. one method is using RGB multi-chip LED, the other is using Orange-White LED method. In this paper, it was compare RGB Multi-chip LED with white-orange LED for there characteristics performance.

  • 강원도 혹한지역에 설치된 ACSR cable(Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced, 강심 알루미늄 연선)에 겔러핑(Galloping), 슬릿점핑(Sleet jumping) 등 빙설해로 인한 단전 및 단락 사고가 발생하여 전력망 운영에 심각한 문제를 초래하고 있다. 특히, 빙설해로 인한 정전사고는 전기 품질의 저하 뿐만 아니라, 국지적으로 발생하여 광범위하게 영향을 미치기 때문에 이에 대한 대응 및 예방기술이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 ACSR cable의 원 소재인 알루미늄 합금(Al 6061)을 대상으로 낮은 표면에너지를 갖는 결빙방지 코팅소재로 표면처리하여 결빙방지 성능을 향상하고자 하였다. 코팅소재와 얼음과의 접합특성은 결빙접합 특성 시험기를 사용하여 정량적으로 측정하였으며 시험기의 신뢰성 확보를 위해 FEM Modeling을 수행하였다. 결빙특성 지표인 ARF(Adhesion reduction factor)를 적용하여 소재별 결빙방지 효과를 비교 평가하였다. 코팅소재는 현재 해외 국내에서 상용화되고 있는 소수성, 초소수성 소재를 선정하였으며, 결빙접합강도와 매우 밀접하게 연관되어 있는 표면 에너지, 표면 거칠기와의 상관관계를 분석함으로써 결빙방지 코팅소재의 적합성을 평가하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 상온 경화형 실리콘 러버 코팅소재는 원 소재 Al 대비 약 8~9배 낮은 탁월한 방빙성(Anti-icing) 효과를 나타내었으며, 내구성 또한 상용소재 대비 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

  • The ECU which is operating inductive actuator like motor or solenoid should be designed with considering the heat removal performance and the EMC performance. In most cases, these two performances are trade-off. Especially, the metal cover with plastic housing for improving heat removal performance can affect EMC performance by coupling the noise source to harness cable and connector. Therefore, after analyzing the EMC effectiveness of the metal cover, countermeasures for EMC noise reduction should be established. In this paper, by simulating and testing of AHB Gen3 ECU, the influence of the metal cover to EMC performance is analyzed. And based on this result, we propose solutions for EMC noise reduction.

Effect of rain on flutter derivatives of bridge decks

  • Flutter derivatives provide the basis of predicting the critical wind speed in flutter and buffeting analysis of long-span cable-supported bridges. Many studies have been performed on the methods and applications of identification of flutter derivatives of bridge decks under wind action. In fact, strong wind, especially typhoon, is always accompanied by heavy rain. Then, what is the effect of rain on flutter derivatives and flutter critical wind speed of bridges? Unfortunately, there have been no studies on this subject. This paper makes an initial study on this problem. Covariance-driven Stochastic Subspace Identification (SSI in short) which is capable of estimating the flutter derivatives of bridge decks from their steady random responses is presented first. An experimental set-up is specially designed and manufactured to produce the conditions of rain and wind. Wind tunnel tests of a quasi-streamlined thin plate model are conducted under conditions of only wind action and simultaneous wind-rain action, respectively. The flutter derivatives are then extracted by the SSI method, and comparisons are made between the flutter derivatives under the two different conditions. The comparison results tentatively indicate that rain has non-trivial effects on flutter derivatives, especially on and $H_2$ and $A_2$thus the flutter critical wind speeds of bridges.

  • This paper analyses current densities induced inside a worker using AC arc welder when he wear a protective with double shielding cloth. Applying the boundary element method, we calculate current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he was located at 1[cm] far from a power cable of AC arc welder. As results of study, we fined aa protective cloth, which has high permeability in inner layer and high conductivity in outer layer, can give a higher shielding efficiency.
