Effect of metakaolin on the properties of conventional and self compacting concrete

  • Supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) have turned out to be a vital portion of extraordinary strength and performance concrete. Metakaolin (MK) is one of SCM material is acquired by calcinations of kaolinite. Universally utilised as pozzolanic material in concrete to enhance mechanical and durability properties. This study investigates the fresh and hardened properties of conventional concrete (CC) and self compacting concrete (SCC) by partially replacing cement with MK in diverse percentages. In CC and SCC, partial replacement of cement with MK varies from 5-20%. Fresh concrete properties of CC are conducted by slump test and compaction factor tests and for SCC, slump flow, T500, J-Ring, L-Box, V-Funnel and U-Box tests. Hardened concrete characteristics are investigated by compressive, split tensile and flexural strengths at age of 7, 28 and 90 days of curing under water. Carbonation depth, water absorption and density of MK based CC and SCC was also computed. Fresh concrete test results indicated that increase in MK replacement increases workability of concrete in a constant w/b ratio. Also, outcomes reveal that concrete integrating MK had greater compressive, flexural and split tensile strengths. Optimum replacement level of MK for cement was 10%, which increased mechanical properties and robustness properties of concrete.

  • 현재의 물류시스템은 전자상거래 (EC/CALS), 공급경로관리 (SCM), 효율적 고객대응 (ECR), 전사적자원관리 (ERP), QR (Quick Response) 등을 중심으로 물류기술들이 개발되고 발전되어왔다. 특히, 전자상거래의 활성화로 수배송 중심의 효율적 관리가 인터넷 쇼핑몰 (B to C) 에서는 중요한 핵심요소의 역할을 할 것으로 전망된다. 이에 본 연구는 DCM (Delivery Chain Management) 의 개념과 관련 기술에 관하여 살펴보고자 한다.

합금강을 이용한 스퍼기어의 정밀 냉간 단조 (Precision Cold Forging of Spur Gear Using the Alloy Steel)

  • The conventional closed-die forgings had been applied to the forging of spur gears. But the forgings require high forging-pressure. In this paper, new precision forging technology have been developed. The developed technology is two steps forging process. Good shaped products are forged successfully with lower forging-pressure than those of conventional forging. The accuracy of the forged spur gear obtained by new precision forging technology is set nearly equal to that of cut spur gear of fourth and fifth class in Korean industrial standard.

  • 최근 물류분야의 학자들과 실무자들이 물류혁신의 한 기법으로 자주 거론하는 공급사슬관리(Supply Chain Management: SCM)의 정확한 개념은 무엇인가? 기존의 여러 문헌과 물류실무를 검토한 결과 특정한 공급사슬내의 조직내부 또는 조직간에는 일정한 수준의 경영활동 및 업무절차의 조정의 필요한 것으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 향후 공급사슬관리와 관련된 의사결정에 도움을 줄 수 있는 개념적 모델을 제시하고, 이를 토대로 한국기업의 물류혁신을 위한 시사정과 앞으로의 연구과제에 대해 알아보고 있다.

천연 광물질을 이용한 CO2 석탄 촉매 가스화 반응 특성 연구 (Study on CO2-Coal Gasification Reaction Using Natural Mineral Catalysts)

  • 본 연구에서는 천연 광물질 촉매를 사용하여 $CO_2$ 석탄가스화의 반응특성을 조사하였다. Meng Tai지역의 갈탄에 4종류의 천연 광물질(Dolomite, Silica sand, Olivine, Kaolin)을 각각 5 wt%로 물리적으로 혼합한 후 Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA)를 이용하여 800, 850, $900^{\circ}C$에서 $CO_2$ 가스화 반응을 수행하였다. 실험 결과를 Volumetric Reaction Model (VRM), Shrinking Core Model (SCM), Modified Volumetric Reaction model (MVRM)을 이용하여 분석하였다. MVRM이 가장 적합하였다. 반응 온도가 올라감에 따라 반응속도상수가 커졌다. 천연 광물질 촉매를 사용할 경우가 촉매를 혼합하지 않은 경우에 비해 반응속도상수는 커지고 활성화 에너지 값이 낮아졌다. Silica sand를 혼합한 시료의 활성화 에너지 값은 114.90 kJ/mol로 가장 낮은 활성화 에너지 값을 보였다. Kaolin을 혼합한 시료의 경우 $850^{\circ}C$$900^{\circ}C$에서 각각 가장 높은 반응속도상수를 보여주다가 $800^{\circ}C$에서 낮은 반응속도상수를 나타냈다. 따라서 Kaolin을 혼합한 경우, 반응 온도가 높아질수록 $CO_2$ 가스화에 좋은 효과가 있을 것이다.

C-N코팅 스퍼기어의 마찰 . 마모 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of C-N Coated Spur Gear)

  • This study deals with the friction and wear characteristics of C-N coated spur gear. The PSII apparatus was built and a SCM415 test piece and test gear with steel substrate was treated with carbon nitrogen by this apparatus. The composition and structure of the surface layer were analyzed and compared with that of PVD coated TiN layer. It was found that both of friction coefficient of C-N coating and TiN coating decreased with increasing load, however, C-N coating showed relatively lower friction coefficient than that of TiN coating. We was investigated the effect of C-N coating on hardness, friction and wear. The TiN coated gear showed a more serious friction phenomena than that of C-N coated gear. It was considered that coating of TiN, which was conducted at a vacuum chamber at about 500$^{\circ}C$, results in a tempering of base material that causes microstructural change, which in turn resulted in decreasing of hardness. The C-N coated gear and pinion had higher wear resistance that of TiN coated gear and pinion. C-N coating significantly improved the friction and wear resistance of the gear.

Nitrogen Incorporation of Nanostructured Amorphous Carbon Thin Films by Aerosol-Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • Nanostructured pure a-C and nitrogen doped a-C: N thin films with small particle size of, ~50 nm were obtained by Aerosol-assisted CVD method from the natural precursor camphor oil. Five samples were prepared for the a-C and a-C: N respectively, with the deposition temperatures ranging from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$. At high temperature, the AFM clarifies an even smoother image, due to the increase of the energetic carbon ion bombardment at the surface of the thin film. An ohmic contact was acquired from the current-voltage solar simulator characterization. The higher conductivity of a-C: N, of ${\sim}{\times}10^{-2}Scm^{-1}$ is due to the decrease in defects since the spin density gap decrease with the nitrogen addition. Pure a-C exhibit absorption coefficient, ${\alpha}$ of $10^4cm^{-1}$, whereas for a-C:N, ${\alpha}$ is of $10^5cm^{-1}$. The high ${\sigma}$ value of a-C:N is due to the presence of more graphitic component ($sp^2$ carbon bonding) in the carbon films.

SiC-$Si_3 N_4$ 세라믹공구를 위한 소결시간과 조성변화의 최적화 (Optimization of the Sintering Time and Composition for SiC-$Si_3 N_4$ Ceramic Tool)

  • In the present study, SiCSi-$Si_3 N_4$-SiC ceramic composites that contained up to 30 wt% of dispersed SiC particles were fabricat-ed cia hot-pressing with an oxynitride glass. The microstructure, the mechanical properties and the cutting performance of resulting ceramic composites were investigated. By fixing the composition as $Si_3 N_4$-20wf%SiC, the effect of sintering time on the microstructure, the mechanical properties and the cutting performance were also investigated. The longer sir-tering time is, the bigger the grain size of SiC is. The fracture toughness(-$K_k$) of the $Si_3 N_4$-SiC ceramic composites increased with the increase of gain size, while the flexural strengthh($\sigma$) decreased. For machining SCM440, the insert with 20wt%r SiC sintered for 8 hours showed the longest tool life while the insert with 20wt% SiC sintered for 12 hours showed the longest tool life for machining gray cast iron.
