This study examines the economic use value of Discover, an access service of research papers and a subsystem of the National Open Access Platform (AccessON). Based on previous literature on scholarly communications and in-depth interviews with 14 academic and industrial researchers, the service value of Discover was identified as the value of time savings. Administering a survey with 1,313 researchers, the following empirical data required for estimation were obtained: for an average Korean researcher, s/he publishes 2.84 papers per year and takes 30.13 minutes in searching and using one relevant research paper. Discover was found to save 5.64 minutes per paper, saving a total of 225 minutes and KRW 99,384 per researcher per year. Finally, a total economic value of Discover was estimated as KRW 82 billion for the entire 8-year business period. An additional value of KRW 11.3 billion was estimated with the legalization of mandatory deposit of OA research papers. The study demonstrates a sufficient economic value of the national OA platform project, and positive economic impact of the OA legalization, futher offering important domestic data for future research on economic value of scholarly communications.
This study investigated what the general public thinks about the shipping industry and how important it is. As a result of the study, more than half of the respondents answered that they knew a little about the shipping industry or that they were normally knew about the shipping industry. Regarding the necessity of budget input to prevent bankruptcy of national shipping companies, it was found that more than half of the respondents answered that it was necessary or moderate. Regarding the necessity of maintaining a national shipping companies, 53% of respondents said it was necessary, and 23% of respondetns said it was normal. However, when asked if they thought that maintaining a national shipping companies would benefit me and my family, 39% of respondetns answered "normal" and 28% of respondetns answered "mostly". As for the cause of Hanjin Shipping's bankruptcy, 49% of respondents said that the owners' family members were immoral and incompetent, and 17.4% of respondetns said that the shipping market conditions deteriorated. Regarding the necessity of fostering the shipping industry, foreign currency acquisition and service balance improvement through export of shipping services accounted for 43.5%, and smooth transportation of import and export cargo accounted for 36.5%. When asked what kind of damage I suffered from Hajin Shipping's bankruptcy, 54.6% answered other (not much), and 14.5% said inflation. Abouve these results, this study gave implication in terms of public promotion and transparent business management.
The egg, larvae, and juvenile development of Platycephalus indicus sampled from Yeosu estuary were conducted. The egg shape of P. indicus is spherical and transparent on the outside, with two perivitelline cavities inside and one oil globule. The diameter of the fertilized eggs were 1.03~1.12 mm (mean =1.08 mm, n =50). The embryos hatched in about 50 hrs 30 mins after fertilization at the water temperature of 20℃. The newly hatched larvae showed a total length of 2.72~3.04 mm (mean=2.93±0.21 mm, n=50). At 5 days after hatching, they were 3.88~4.42 mm (mean=4.11±0.31 mm, n=15) in TL and their yolk was completely absorbed, developing the teeth. They became juvenile 39 days after hatching and reached 10.23~11.95 mm (mean=11.09±0.86 mm, n=5) in TL. At 45 days after hatching, they were 12.01~13.25 mm (mean=12.63±0.62 mm, n=5) in TL, and their body shape and color were similar to those of adult fish.
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of the parent-adolescent career congruence process in the association between the parent-adolescent relationship and career identity of South Korean college students. In particular, we investigated which kind of career congruence process mediates the positive effect of the interdependent parent-adolescent relationship (in support of emotional bond and filial piety) and the independent parent-adolescent relationship (in support of independence and autonomy) on career identity. Data of 509 college students were analyzed for this study, and parallel multiple mediation analysis was performed. As a result, the complementary and attunement congruence process fully mediated the relationship between parent-adolescent affective bonding and career identity. Authoritative filial piety had a negative direct effect on career identity, but a positive indirect effect by mediating the complementary and attunement congruence process. The mediation analysis showed that both complementary and attunement congruence process fully mediated the association between independent parent-adolescent relationship and career identity. However, family intrusion had only a negative direct effect on career identity. On the other hand, the supplementary congruence process did not have significant mediating effects between all types of parent-adolescent relationships and career identity. Also, the supplementary congruence process had a negative direct effect on career identity. Based on these results, we discussed culturally universal and culturally specific characteristics of the relationship between parent-adolescent relationships and career identity, along with the limitations and recommendations for future research.
The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the employees' perception of organizational justice and their prosocial behaviors, focusing on the moderating effect of employees' individualism and collectivism. The survey has been conducted for 200 participants working in Korean companies. The results show that the perception of organizational justice is positively related with their prosocial behaviors. Also, employees' individualism and collectivism is significantly related with their prosocial behaviors. Specifically, individuals who are more collectivistic or less individualistic performed more prosocial behaviors than those who are less collectivistic or more individualistic. Finally, employees' individualism/collectivism has moderated the relationship between the perception of organizational justice and prosocial behaviors. When employees have strong sense of collectivism, they performed prosocial behaviors consistently regardless of the perception of organizational justice. That is, even though they perceive organizational justice as low, they perform prosocial behaviors in some degree. However, when employees have strong sense of individualism, their prosocial behaviors have been significantly determined by the perception of organizational justice. That is, when they perceive organizational justice as low, they rarely performed prosocial behaviors. But, as they perceive more organizational justice, their prosocial behaviors have been dramatically increased. The implication of those results and future research questions have been discussed.

Competition among enterprises has been more intensified as one among supply chains in the rapidly changing environment. This study investigated the influence of the supply chain integration factors, such as integration of functions inside an enterprise, integration of suppliers, and integration of customers, on the internal and external visibility, and non-financial and financial performances of enterprises. To test these relationships, the survey was conducted on suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors in Korea which have been implementing SCM. Eighty-one questionnaires were collected and used for this study. The study results using the covariance structure analysis are showed as follows. First, the integration of suppliers had a significant influence on both the internal and the external visibility of enterprises, while the integration of functions inside an enterprise had a significant impact on only the internal visibility of enterprises, and the integration of customers on only the external visibility. Second, the internal and external visibility of enterprises had significant impacts on non-financial performance of enterprises. However, the internal and external visibility of enterprises didn't give any direct or indirect influence on the financial performance of enterprises. Third, the non-financial performance of enterprises had a significant impact on financial performance of enterprises.
In recent years, with the continuous integrative development of e-commerce and social media, social commerce, as a trust-centered social transaction mode, has become an important performance form of e-commerce. The good experience of online community and abundant user-generated content (UGC) attract more and more users and businesses to participate in the community contribution. In this context, the cost of accessing information is continuously decreasing, which not only makes the purchase process more concise and efficient, but also greatly increases the possibility of consumers' impulsive consumption. However, there are very few empirical studies on the internal influencing mechanism of consumers' impulsive consumption based on the characteristics of UGC for social commerce. In view of this, based on S-O-R model, this study constructs a model of consumers' impulsive consumption in the context of social commerce from the characteristics of UGC, with perceived risk as the mediating variable and tie strength as the moderating variable. The results show that content authenticity, content usefulness, and content valence of UGC have significant negative impacts on consumers' risk perception in the process of purchase decision-making, and consumers' perceived risk has a significant negative impact on consumers' impulsive consumption. Meanwhile, the tie strength between UGC producer and UGC receiver plays a moderating role between content usefulness and perceived risk, as well as between perceived risk and impulsive consumption. Finally, combined with the above findings, this study provides effective suggestions for relevant participants in social commerce in terms of business management.
The utilization of Digital and Social Network has become be a key success factor in business operations as information technologies evolve rapidly. This study is to identity the relationship between ICT & digital utilization, global orientation and export marketing capability in Korean SMEs. Survey data of Korean SMEs in south regional areas was collected and analyzed for empirical hypothesis test by PLS structural equation method. The key findings are as follows. First, ICT utilization such as SNS, homepage and online portal does not impact directly on export marketing capability. It means that SMEs would not still take advantage of utilization of social network availability. Second, ICT utilization has positive influences on global market orientation and global network orientation. Finally, both global market orientation and network have significant impacts on export marketing capability. In conclusion, global orientation has full-mediation effects on relationship between ICT capability and global marketing. This study provides evidences and some practical insights that digital utilization have indirect influences on global marketing through global markets and network orientation in Korean SMEs. In information technology era, ICT utilization will play an important role in the process of SMEs' internationalization. Therefore, for sustainable growth and survival SMEs should manage and intensify ICT capability more strategically as one of core competence. The value of ICT capability in SMEs would be depended on their strategic perspectives toward digitalization. Additional empirical research about digital capability based on larger sample will be needed.
This study was conducted to derive a society and education system model that will improve the happiness and sustainability of human society. An ideological model for making human society a happy society was derived, and a society and education system structure and operation model based on this was presented. A fair society, a justice society, a mutually considerate society, and a society where individuals are happy are the conditions for a sustainable society. After analyzing the current situation of freedom and equality pursued by capitalism and democracy, which are currently adopted by most societies, an improvement model was derived from the perspective of a sustainable society. The cost of freedom and equality were analyzed and a new alternative system was discussed. The social solidarity and class mobility issues were discussed together and servicism was derived as an alternative solution. It is a system in which two opposing opponents of individual freedom and social norms form a symmetrical balance, and material and spiritual values are balanced. Servicism is a dynamic balance model. That is, the dimensions of time and space are involved. It is a model that maintains a thorough balance through a dialectical process as time and space change, and one value can dominate the other at a specific time or space. The service-oriented society and education system is a system that simultaneously pursues the goals of individual happiness and sustainable development of the social community.
This study investigated the means-end chain theory more concretely through the APT hard laddering technique. This is carrying out a questionnaire survey targeting users by hair salon type, and the items drawn from the qualitative laddering technique are applied. The technique is a comparative analysis of each attribute, consequences, and value item by analyzing each step's questions. The results are as follows. First, hairdresser's ability, acceptance of individual-customized opinions, and cheap price were the most mentioned items in the selection attributes. As for the consequences items, image transformation, neatness, novelty, and psychological stability were drawn in order. The items indicated as important among the value items were satisfaction, followed by happiness, confidence, beauty, and bond. Second, the remarkable selection attributes, irrelevant of hair salon type, was revealed as hairdresser's ability and the key values pursued when using a hair salon were drawn as satisfaction, confidence, and beauty. From this result, it was found that meeting the desire of consumers using hair salons can be linked with ultimately pursued values. It was also verified that partial differences were shown by hair salon type and this meant that consumers' desire and expected benefits were different by hair salon type. Although this study drew value perception through comparison with hair salon types based on the means-end chain theory, it was confirmed that the most important selection attribute was hairdresser's ability and they select and use hair salons to gain satisfaction and confidence.
