Factors Influencing Oriental Art Gallery Business and Strategies to Promote Sales of Oriental Art Works

  • Purpose: The current research based on the comprehensive literature evaluation aims to gain insight into the factors contributing to an Oriental art gallery's success and the strategies used to advertise and sell these works effectively. Understanding and experience in Oriental art are essential for finding solutions to these issues. Research design, data and methodology: The current research conducted the following stages to conduct a thorough literature analysis on the issues that plague Oriental art gallery practitioners and the methods used to increase sales of this kind of art: Finding Valuable Resources and Subjects, Screening and Selection of Articles, Data Extraction and Analysis, Synthesis of Findings. Results: After reviewing the many aspects that affect the success of a gallery specializing in Oriental art, there were four key approaches that have emerged for boosting sales of this kind of artwork. Based on the findings, these approaches are grounded in four areas: consumer preferences; marketing methods; pricing strategies; and art investments. Conclusions: All in all, the current study finally indicates that practitioners should consider cultural background, age, gender, income, and level of education when developing marketing strategies and selecting artwork to exhibit. Target marketing is an effective method for attracting and retaining customers.

Employee Engagement in State Owned Enterprises. A Literature Review Paper

  • Purpose: This paper provides both quantitative and qualitative literature review on employee engagement in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as portrayed in literature and offers more insight into the concept on how it can be optimised. Research design, data and methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. A review and analysis of both theoretical and empirical research and articles which are relevant to employee engagement in SOEs was conducted. Only secondary information gathered through those articles and research was used to analyse and build literature review on employee engagement in SOEs. Results: A literature review of both qualitative and quantitative research on employee engagement in organisations generally and in SOEs particularly was done, and it indicated the positive relationship between employee engagement and organisational performance. From the study, it is evident that employee engagement is not optimal around the world, therefore it is an area which needs more attention. Hence, this study proffered strategies for enhancing employee engagement in SOEs. Conclusions: This study proffers strategies for optimising employee engagement in SOEs. These are brand image, work environment, management and leadership characteristics, training and development opportunities, performance management, work life balance, effective communication and Kahn's three factors of meaningfulness, safety and availability. These strategies are essential in optimising employee engagement as portrayed in the reviewed literature.

성공적인 국제거래를 위한 인도상인과의 협상전략에 관한 연구 (Understanding negotiating dynamics across cultures by Indian businessmen)

  • The objective of this study is to understand negotiating dynamics across cultures by Indian businessmen and suggest proper negotiating strategies to Korean businessmen when they make a deal with Indian firms. The study proposes, as a result, twelve countermeasures as effective negotiating strategies against negotiating cultures of Indian businessmen. Better understanding on business cultures of the country with which Korea makes international transactions leads more fruitful outcome in concluding the international agreement. So cross-cultural studies are very much required for successful negotiations. Recently many Korean firms want to try to penetrate into Indian market and do successful operation because India becomes a compulsory subject for most of Korean firms. To increase possibilities of success in India, such Korean firms may consider applying the suggested negotiating strategies to the Indian business fields.

Yet to date an absence of explicite EUC strategies seems to be the overwhelming norm. The purpose of this paper, under the assumption that EUC is an organization innovation, is to contribute what EUC management is most effective for a given organization at a particular point in time. 1.   • 치열한 경쟁상황에서 기업의 성공과 혁신은 경영자에서 비롯되는 신사업 발견능력을 통한 경쟁전략의 수립이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 경영자의 신사업기회 발견능력과 기업성과 사이에 경쟁전략의 매개효과를 실증분석을 통해 규명하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해서 전국의 대기업 사업장과 중소기업 286개의 기업 자료를 대상으로 자료를 수집하고 구조모델에 의한 분석을 실시하였다. 실증분석 결과 발견능력 중 실험하기와 연관시키기가 경쟁전략을 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 발견능력 맥락에서는 원가우위 전략 보다 차별화 전략이 기업성과에 미치는 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 경쟁 전략의 매개효과는 실험하기와 기업성과 사이에 강하게 나타났다.

  • 인터넷 전자상거래가 확산됨에 따라, 많은 기업들이 인터넷 쇼핑몰 사업 진출을 시도하고 있다 인터넷 쇼핑몰은 통신망을 중심으로 형성된 가상공간상의 신종사업으로서 실제공간에서 이루어지는 사업가는 많은 상이한 면을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 인터넷 쇼핑몰이 고객을 모집하고 상거래를 일어나도록 하는 각종 전략적 요소들이 어떻게, 왜 선택되었는지, 그리고 기업은 이러한 고객 전략을 어떻게 사용하는지에 대한 연구를 수행하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 기반을 지니고 있는 사업자의 전략을 살펴보고, 고객 전략적 측면에서 보는 인터넷 쇼핑을 비즈니스의 성공요소가 무엇인지를 도출해 보았다.

  • This paper reports on a study investigating key attributes of service recovery strategies in internet shopping mall. In theses day, service recovery has received important attention in the service operation management literature. Service recovery involves those actions designed to resolve problems, alter negative attitudes of dissatisfied consumers and to ultimately retain these customers. The study examined that service recovery strategies (apology, compensation) impact on the customer satisfaction. And customer satisfaction impacts on customer loyalty with SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). This study can be used a strategic implication for internet shopping mall managers to develop successful service recovery strategies.

  • 시나리오 방법론은 빠르고 복잡하게 변화화는 경영환경 하에서 기업을 지원해 주는 가장 효과적인 툴 중에 하나이다. 특히, 시나리오 방법론은 불확실한 상황에서 의사결정시 보다 효과적이다. 이 논문은 기업의 관리자들이 어떻게 시나리오 기반의 기업 전략을 수립 할 수 있는지 보여 준다. 한국의 무선 통신 서비스 시장의 가상 이동 망 사업자 (MVNO: Mobile Virtual Network Operator)의 사례를 들어 설명하였다. 또한, 시나리오 기반 관리에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하였으며, 전략적 관리 프로세스에 시나리오 방법론을 통합하는 방법론에 대해 논의하였다. 특히, 시나리오에서 상황을 결정짓는 다양한 중요 요소들과 흐름들을 새롭게 고안된 방법론을 통하여 발견하였고, 이를 통해 새로운 전략들을 도출하였다.

관광호텔 아웃소싱 전략에 관한 개념적 고찰 (A Conceptual Study on Outsourcing Strategy in Betel Industry)

  • Outsourcing is procuring of outside resources, other than core resources for core competence, by a contract, from which a corporate can focus its core resources on core business. The outsourcing strategies of Korea tourist hotel business are in a rudimentary stage, which has been limited in simple work areas such as housekeeping services, room maid services, parking control services, security services, janitor services, laundry services, facility management, shuttle bus services, and sterilization services and their purposes are mainly to retrench a burden of employment or firm-fixed expenses. Therefore, the outsourcing strategies of Korea tourist hotel business have the following problems. First, their outsourcing has introduced only for the purpose of retrenching expenses. Second, it tends to deteriorate service quality, due to lack of pre-training. Third, it tends to concentrate their attentions only on simple repetition works. Fourth, their outsourcing is slow adjusted to the needs of business cultures. Outsourcing services in Korea tourist hotel business have never contributed to their basic concepts such as 1) maintenance or enhancement of core competences, 2) promotion of business efficiency through service quality improvement and expense retrenchment, and 3) achievement or enhancement of competitive advantage through enlarging their specialties, cultivating their market, learning new knowledge, and developing their asset. Therefore, this study is to insist on fife necessity of overcoming simple repetitive service outsourcing in tourist hotel business. In order to build a core competence and/or achieve a competitive advantage, the scopes of outsourcing services should be enlarged in Korea tourist hotel business.

Impact of Institutional and Business Distance on Subsidiary Performance: The Mediation of Subsidiary Entrepreneurship

  • Purpose - This study aims to identify the importance of subsidiary entrepreneurship as a key factor when MNE attempts to invest in challenging overseas markets. Through the simultaneous consideration of institutional theory and entrepreneurship theory, this study would like to examine how Korean subsidiaries in the Middle East improve their performance locally. Design/methodology - To reflect the characteristics of emerging markets, this study conducted a survey of Korean subsidiaries in the Middle East in cooperation with KOTRA and analyzed the hypotheses using a structural equation model based on 249 valid responses. Findings - The findings of this study are as follows. First, we found that institutional and business distance would positively affect subsidiaries' entrepreneurship. The result that subsidiaries' entrepreneurship is positively affected by institutional and business distance implies that attempts to close the difference between heterogeneous markets would increase subsidiaries' innovative proactiveness, such as R&D and creative marketing strategies. Second, we confirmed that the institutional and business distance positively mediate the subsidiaries' entrepreneurship growth, leading to high performance. Therefore, Korean subsidiaries are required and prepared to establish strategies to better understand institutional and business distances in advance and reduce the liability of foreignness by conducting customized research and training programs before sending Korean expatriates to local subsidiaries in the Middle East. Originality/value - This study contributed to institutional and entrepreneurship theory by proving the traditional relationship between institutional and business distance to subsidiaries' performance and the mediation of subsidiary entrepreneurship.
