  • With rapid modernization and industrialization, many urban areas are becoming overcrowded at a rapid pace and such urban ecological problems as heat island effect are becoming serious due to the reduced green zones resulted from the indiscriminate development. To solve this problem, ecological park, constructed wetlands, and greening on the elevation, balcony, and roof of a building that have the structure and function very close to the state of nature are currently being promoted at the urban or regional level. Especially green roof will be able to not only provide the center of a city with a significant portion of green area but also help to relive heat island effect and improve micro climate by preventing concrete of a building from absorbing heat. According to a recent study, the temperature of green roof in the summer season shows a lower temperature than the outdoor temperature, but inversely the concrete surface shows a higher temperature. Accordingly, this study measured the surface temperature of buildings with green roof in Daejeon area in order to determine how the green roof system would have an impact on the distribution of surface temperature and did a comparative analysis of the distribution of the surface temperature of green roof vs non-green roof based on these theoretical considerations. As a result, it was found that the surface temperature of green roof was lower by $4{\sim}7^{\circ}C$ than that of non-green roof. This is expected to contribute to the mitigation of urban heat island effects.

  • This paper presents photogrammetric processing to generate digital elevation models using SPOT-5 HRG stereo images and deals with the accuracy potential of HRG (High Resolution Geometry) supermode imagery for DEM generation. After bundle adjustment was preformed for sensor modelling, digital surface models were generated through the procedures of Epipolar image resampling and image matching. The DEM extracted from HRG imagery was compared along several test sections with the the refernce DEM which was obtained from the digital topographic maps of a scale of 1 to 5000. The ratio of the zone with DEM errors less than 5m to the whole zone was 53.8%, and about 2.5m RMSE was showed when assuming that the zones larger than 5m were affected by clouds, water bodies and buildings and excluding those zones from accuracy evaluation. In addition, the three-dimensional bird's eye view model and 3D building model were producted based on the DSM which was extracted from SPOT-5 HRG data.

  • The combined method utilizing airborne LiDAR and GIS data is suggested to extract 3-dimensional hybrid city model including roads and buildings. Combining the two types of data is more efficient to estimate the elevations of various types of roads and buildings than using either LiDAR or GIS data only. This method is particularly useful to model the overlapped roads around the so called spaghetti junction. The preliminary model is constructed from the LiDAR data, which can give wrong information around the overlapped parts. And then, the erratic vertex points are detected by imposing maximum vertical grade allowable on the elevated roads. For the purpose of efficiency, the erratic vertex points are corrected through linear interpolation method. To avoid the erratic treatment of the LiDAR data on the facades of buildings 2 meter inner-buffer zone is proposed to efficiently estimate the height of a building. It is validated by the mean value(=5.26 %) of differences between estimated elevations on 2 m inner buffer zone and randomly observed building elevations.

  • A fire extinguishing system for a rack warehouse was recently designed, which only consider the gross area and number of stories. However, the design of such a system should take into account not only the planar structuree, but also the elevation perspectives due to its vertical structure. Moreover, the fire load of the commodities palletized on the racks should be considered, in order to design a performance-based fire safety system that is appropriate for these environmental conditions. For this reason, this study analyzed the fire characteristics of the commodities palletized on the racks (pallet + the commodities in a box unit + vinyl packing material), taking into consideration the results of a field investigation conducted in Korea, as well as the Hazard Classifications of Commodities used in other countries. Through this analysis, the heat release rate (HRR) and smoke production rate (SPR) were derived.

  • This paper presents the numerical simulations of future river bed changes using CCHE2D, a two-dimensional numerical model, for river confluences at the confluences of the Nakdong River and Gamcheon as well as Geum River and Mihocheon. The numerical simulations of future river bed changes were conducted for three years using hydrological data from August 30, 2012, to August 29, 2015 after the Four Major River Restoration Project. The simulation results demonstrated that river bed changes occurred actively near the confluence where sediment deposition was concentrated, resulting in the possibility of point bar formation. Through the numerical simulations, the characteristics of future river bed change was evaluated by investigating the characteristics of bed changes, average bed elevation changes, and the difference between deposition and erosion in the target section. The two-dimensional numerical model is expected to be used in the future to prepare effective stabilization plans for the tributary confluence.

  • This Study aims at searching the meanings in the creative process of Ronchamp chapel by analyzing the drawings of the site, plan, section and elevation in chronological order. The origins of his architectural creation are identifying with the site(memories of Acropolis), analogies of crab shell, air plane wing and hydraulic dams. The architect informed himself about the site ,the tradition of pilgrimage associated with the place, and its devotion to the Holy Virgin; he looked into the rituals of the Catholic religion, spoke with ecclesiastics; he studied and annotated a monograph devoted to the site of Ronchamp. Also ,the plan required that it be possible to collect rainwater, since such was rare on the hill. In the first design phase, overall conception of building was carried out in the sketches and drawings from June 1950 to November 1950. The second phase in the elaboration of the project was from January 1951(at which time preliminary project was presented to the Commission of Holy Art) to April 1953. The modifications made were in response to opinions expressed by the patrons. The building moved to east and gargoyle moved to west, then, the elevations of north and west were changed. He designed the artificial land and bell tower from the first phase even after the beginning of construction ,he wanted them to be built .But they were not constructed, so the outer space for rituals of religion had no tension. I concluded that Le Corbusier had gifted ability and efforts to create spontaneous birth(after incubation) of the whole work, and the execution of drawings itself. He devoted himself to accomplish the project in spite of the change in situation or by clients.

  • Recent advances in airborne LiDAR technology allow rapid and inexpensive measurements of topography over large areas. The generation of DTM/DEM is essential to numerous applications such as the fields of civil engineering, environment, city planning and flood modeling. The demand for LiDAR data is increasing due to the reduced cost for DTM generation and the increased reliability, precision and completeness. In order to generate DTM, measurements from non-ground features such as building and vegetation have to be classified and removed. In this paper, a segmented morphology filter was developed to detect non-ground LiDAR measurements. First, segments LiDAR point clouds based on the elevation. Secondly classifies those protruding segments into non-ground points. Those non-ground points such as building and vegetation are removed, while ground points are preserved for DTM generation. For experiments, data sets used in Comparison of Filters (ISPRS, 2003) depicting urban and rural areas were selected. The experimental results show that the proposed filter can remove most of the non-ground points effectively with less commission and omission errors.

  • As a model house has attempted a role change from a conceptual perspective as a housing cultural center starting from the 90ties, it began to direct the change into a high end building. In particular, large construction companies have recently invested on an unimagined scale, unlike in the past, in building a model house and pursued the construction of new attractions of cities as well as the upgrade of a brand image by hiring and implementing the designs of celebrity architects or designers. In addition, they have been in pursuit of a change by enhancing the satisfaction and pride of residents by offering spaces and programs for various cultural arts for apartment residents or potential customers and having them participate in those programs. This study aims to expound on the possibility of the utilization of a housing cultural center as a local complex community center by analyzing the spatial organization and the operational program of a housing cultural center appearing since the 90ties. With this aim, the study analyzed the cases of a complex community center and the program and the operational method of a housing cultural center within the case study in order to propose the possibilities for the utilization of a local complex community center. The elevation of the cultural and economic level of citizens and a rapid social change are shown as various demands for welfare, and the subsequent social physical change has led to the expansion of a space as a complex community. A housing cultural center is also directed to grow as a complex community center from the perspective of diverse demands and participations of consumers, and prepares a field for a broad spectrum of communications from the perspective of housing and cities.

  • The building heights of big cities which charged with most space are 3-D information as relative vertical distance from ground control points, but they didn't know the heights using contour with maps as lose of skyline or building heights for downtown, practically continuously developed of many technology methods for implementation of 3-D spatial earth. So, For the view as stereos of variety earth form generated 3-D spatial and made terrain perspective map, 3-D simulated of regional and urban space as aviation images. In this papers, it composited geospatial informations and images by DEM generation, and developed and presented for techniques overlay of CAD data and photos captured at our surroundings uses. Particularly, The airborne LiDAR surveying which are very interesting trend have laser scanning sensor and determine the ground heights through detecting angle and range to the grounds, and then designated 3-D spatial composite and simulation from urban areas. Therefore in this papers are suggested ease selections on the users situation by compare as various simulations that its generation of 3-D spatial image by collective for downtown space and urban sub, and the implementation methods for more accurate, more select for the best images.
