Extraction of Three-Dimensional Hybrid City Model based on Airborne LiDAR and GIS Data for Transportation Noise Mapping (교통소음지도 작성을 위한 3차원 도시모델 구축 : 항공 LiDAR와 GIS DB의 혼용 기반)

  • The combined method utilizing airborne LiDAR and GIS data is suggested to extract 3-dimensional hybrid city model including roads and buildings. Combining the two types of data is more efficient to estimate the elevations of various types of roads and buildings than using either LiDAR or GIS data only. This method is particularly useful to model the overlapped roads around the so called spaghetti junction. The preliminary model is constructed from the LiDAR data, which can give wrong information around the overlapped parts. And then, the erratic vertex points are detected by imposing maximum vertical grade allowable on the elevated roads. For the purpose of efficiency, the erratic vertex points are corrected through linear interpolation method. To avoid the erratic treatment of the LiDAR data on the facades of buildings 2 meter inner-buffer zone is proposed to efficiently estimate the height of a building. It is validated by the mean value (=5.1%) of differences between estimated elevations on 2 m inner buffer zone and randomly observed building elevations.

Daylighting Performance of Refurbished Window System based on Site Plans in Recently-Planned Apartment Houses (공동주택의 배치유형에 따른 창호 시스템의 채광특성)

  • Though they have advantages in terms of aesthetic in modern architecture, however, rectangular-shaped towers causes being short of natural light due to deep interior space. There are compromised attempts to take advantages of each building shape selectively. As a result, we now witness the advent of Y-shaped, T-shaped, V-shaped and ㅈ-shaped buildings on the market. The mutative type of apartment houses usually faces southwest or southeast, which has lot of daylighting availability but anyhow, the proportion of the apartment houses which have a full south aspect. The need to verify the potential of daylighting in new building-block shapes exists. At the same time, the expansion of balcony area was legalized and thus, a visual buffer area does not exist any more. All-glass window wall on apartment houses without a balcony produces pretty harmful area with direct sunbeam. Recently, the refurbished version of conventional windows has been developed for the purposed of minimizing energy loss occurred around windows. This research initialized a series of research to deal with almost all on window wall for apartment houses. First of all, huge amount of already-designed examples of apartment houses have been analyzed in terms of floor plan, elevation, orientation and glazing materials.

  • Recently, Free-Form and Irregular Shape high-rise buildings are constructed by IT technology development. Tilted shaped high-rise building which is one of Irregular shape high-rise buildings can cause lateral displacement by gravity load and lateral load due to tilted elevation shape. Therefore, it is necessary to review the behavior and structural aspects of the Tilted shape high-rise building by gravity load. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of a tilted structure with a dual-core were analyzed with the core location as a design variable, and response behavior, vulnerable members, and vulnerable layers to earthquake loads were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, as the location of the core moved in an tilted direction, the eccentric distance and eccentric load decreased, reducing the axial force of the vertical members. However, the location of the core had little effect on the response.

  • Strarting with Buyeong Apartment in Dongtan-2 disrict in 2017, collective complaints of residents are frequently occurring due to low quality problem such as improper construction and defects of apartment houses. Because of this, the Ministry of Land and Transport is preparing a comprehensive improvement scheme to improve the quality of Apartment Housing(AH), taking into account the continuing complaints from the residents of AH and the problem raised by the National Assembly. The basic profile of the improvement scheme is induce the tenants and experts to discover and point out defects that are repaired until the date of use inspection or due date. For this purpose, we suggested this defects management system linkaged by the preliminary inspection and quality inspection system for prospective occupants. In this context, this paper aims to suggest an effective likage method between the preliminary inspection of prospective residents and the quality inspection system implemented by local governments as an ordinance.

Building change detection in high spatial resolution images using deep learning and graph model (딥러닝과 그래프 모델을 활용한 고해상도 영상의 건물 변화탐지)

  • The most critical factors for detecting changes in very high-resolution satellite images are building positional inconsistencies and relief displacements caused by satellite side-view. To resolve the above problems, additional processing using a digital elevation model and deep learning approach have been proposed. Unfortunately, these approaches are not sufficiently effective in solving these problems. This study proposed a change detection method that considers both positional and topology information of buildings. Mask R-CNN (Region-based Convolutional Neural Network) was trained on a SpaceNet building detection v2 dataset, and the central points of each building were extracted as building nodes. Then, triangulated irregular network graphs were created on building nodes from temporal images. To extract the area, where there is a structural difference between two graphs, a change index reflecting the similarity of the graphs and differences in the location of building nodes was proposed. Finally, newly changed or deleted buildings were detected by comparing the two graphs. Three pairs of test sites were selected to evaluate the proposed method's effectiveness, and the results showed that changed buildings were detected in the case of side-view satellite images with building positional inconsistencies.

Urban Building Change Detection Using nDSM and Road Extraction (nDSM 및 도로망 추출 기법을 적용한 도심지 건물 변화탐지)

  • Recently, as high resolution satellites data have been serviced, frequent DSM (Digital Surface Model) generation over urban areas has been possible. In addition, it is possible to detect changes using a high-resolution DSM at building level such that various methods of building change detection using DSM have been studied. In order to detect building changes using DSM, we need to generate a DSM using a stereo satellite image. The change detection method using D-DSM (Differential DSM) uses the elevation difference between two DSMs of different dates. The D-DSM method has difficulty in applying a precise vertical threshold, because between the two DSMs may have elevation errors. In this study, we focus on the urban structure change detection using D-nDSM (Differential nDSM) based on nDSM (Normalized DSM) that expresses only the height of the structures or buildings without terrain elevation. In addition, we attempted to reduce noise using a morphological filtering. Also, in order to improve the roadside buildings extraction precision, we exploited the urban road network extraction from nDSM. Experiments were conducted for high-resolution stereo satellite images of two periods. The experimental results were compared for D-DSM, D-nDSM, and D-nDSM with road extraction methods. The D-DSM method showed the accuracy of about 30% to 55% depending on the vertical threshold and the D-nDSM approaches achieved 59% and 77.9% without and with the morphological filtering, respectively. Finally, the D-nDSM with the road extraction method showed 87.2% of change detection accuracy.

A Study on the Reproduction of 3-Dimensional Building Model from Single High Resolution Image without Meta Information (메타정보 없는 단일 고해상도 영상으로부터 3차원 건물 모델 생성에 관한 연구)

  • We expanded the 3D building information extraction method using shadow and vertical line from single high resolution image with meta information into the method for single high resolution image without meta information. Our method guesses an azimuth angle and an elevation angle of the sensor and the sun using reference building, selected by user, on an image. For test, we used an IKONOS image and an image extracted from the Google Earth. We calculated the Root Mean Square (RMS) error of heights extracted by our method using the building height extracted from stereo IKONOS image as reference, and the RMS error from the IKONOS image and the Google Earth image was under than 3 m. We also calculated the RMS error of horizontality position by comparison between building position extracted from only the IKONOS image and it from 1:1,000 digital map, and the result was under than 3 m. This test results showed that the height pattern of building models by our method was similar with it by the method using meta information.

A Study on the roof curved ratio and slope of Korean Traditional Wooden Building - Focused on the Central Hall of Buddhist Temple - (전통목조건축물 지붕곡과 기울기에 관한 연구 - 사찰의 주불전을 중심으로 -)

  • The aim of this study was to classify the central Buddhist temple among the state-designated cultural assets, which were measured precisely, into the gable roof buildings and the gambrel roof buildings to analyze the Ang-Goak, Inside waist, ridge ratio, and roof inclination represented on the roof, and prepare basic objective material for the restoration and repair of cultural assets. As a result, as for the relationship between the roof curve and the inclination of the gable roof building and gambrel roof building, the following conclusions could be drawn. First, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gable roof building had a close correlation with the building size, and the internal high pillar existence. In addition, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist were shown in the 7-ryangga structure, which is greater in size than in the 5-ryangga structure. This was found to be related to the building size. Second, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gable roof building has a correlation with each other, and it was found that Inside waist also was large in the building with a larger Ang-Goak. The roof inclination rarely had a connection with variable factors (plane factor, elevation factor, and cross section factor). The sizes of Ang-Goak, Inside waist, and ridge ratio were similar in the outside 1 chulmok and outside 2 chulmok of gongpo but those sizes were relatively larger in outside 3 chulmok. Third, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gambrel roof building moved independently for each building without a correlation with each other, unlike the case of the gable roof building. The front and the side showed a correlation with each other, and in the building with the large curve of the front side, the curve was also large in the sides. Fourth, in the case of the building with a high pillar inside the gambrel roof building, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist were larger. On the other hand, they were smaller in the case of a building without a high pillar. This was found to have a close relationship with the building size. In addition, the ridge ratio has a close connection with the building size and building height. Therefore, the ridge ratio is larger in a high building or large sized building. The roof inclination rarely has a correlation with variable factors, as in the case of the gable roof building.

A Study on Classicism in Drawings of Deoksugung Palace Art Museum (도면 분석을 통한 덕수궁미술관의 고전주의적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Deoksugung Palace Art Museum was built in 1938 as the first professional art museum in Korea. In 2015, National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage published a book on architectural drawings of this building. This book, called Architectural Drawings of the Deoksugung Palace Art Museum, consists of 646 sheets, 23 types of documents, as well as other historical letters. This paper focuses on the analysis of the characteristics of classicism in Architectural Drawings. It shows that every dimensions of drawings were controled by 3 partition composition through the analysis of architectural plan drawings, elevation drawings and even section drawings. Thus, Classicism for the museum is not about classical elements but the principle of composition of each elements for the construction. This paper further argues that Deoksugung Palace Art Museum exemplifies beautiful Classicism architecture which follows the principle of classical architectural composition.

A Study on Removal Method of Building area from LiDAR DSM with Edge Detection (경계선 추출을 통한 LiDAR DSM에서의 건물제거기법 연구)

  • 최근에는 LiDAR 시스템의 등장으로 기존의 항공사진측량에 비하여 효율적이고, 경제적으로 도시지역의 수치표고자료를 효과적으로 구축할 수 있게 되었으나, 도시지역에서는 다양한 형태의 객체들이 모두 포함된 DSM(Digital Surface Model) 형식의 자료를 취득하게 된다. 따라서, 홍수범람예측에 있어서의 인공지물의 영향 해석 등을 위하여 건물이 제거된 지형에 관한 상세한 정보를 제공하기 위해서는 DSM으로부터 DEM(Digital Elevation Model)을 추출하기 위한 전처리 과정이 필요하다. 본 연구는 LiOAR 시스템으로부터 취득된 도시지역에 대한 DSM으로부터 건물 등이 제거된 DEM을 추출하기 위한 연구로서 영상처리기법의 경계검출 알고리즘을 적용하여 건물 등의 지물들에 대한 경계를 추출하였으며, 선행연구에서 건물로 추출된 지역에 대하여 보간법을 적용함으로써 발생하는 원시 DSM 자료의 변형에 따른 대안으로써, 추출된 경계에 대여 평균값 필터링, 중간 값 필터링, 최소 값 필터링을 각각 적용함으로써 원시 DSM 자료의 변형을 최소화하여 건물 등의 지물들을 제거하였으며, LiDAR DSM으로부터 DEM을 제작하는 과정을 간략화, 자동화하였다.
