Purely synthesized L-ascorbic acid 2 phosphate Mg salt (1 AsA PMg) improved the weak point of ascorbic acid which is easily decomposed in water solution. This compound is hydrolyzed with phosphatase of skin to corresponding ascorbic acid giving Vitamine C activities. The buffer solution of potassium acetate 0.5% and citric acid 0.005% and the sodium sulfite respectively showed good stabilizing effect of the AsA PMg solution. Compared to the other ascorbic acid derivatives the good solubility of AsA PMg gives broad application to cosmetic field.
Clenbuterol, a selective ${\beta}_2-adrenergic$ receptor stimulant, has been introduced as a potent bronchodilator for patients with bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema. For the purpose of developing a transdermal preparation for clenbuterol, we attempted to select an optimal solvent system and permeation enhancer among fatty acids and fatty alcohols which are known to accelerate the penetration of various drugs in permeation experiments using hairless mouse skin and Franz diffusion cell. Apparent partition coefficient of clenbuterol was increased as pH of buffer solution was increased and solubility of clenbuterol was increased as the percent of propylene glycol(PG) in buffer solution(pH 10) was increased. Permeability of clenbuterol from different buffer(pH 10)/PG solvent mixtures was decreased as the percent of PG in pH 10 buffer solution was increased and among the various enhancers studied, lauryl alcohol was found to be the most effective enhancer, increasing the permeability of clenbuterol approximately 76-fold compared with control. Lauryl alcohol$(0{\sim}2%)$ enhanced the permeability of clenbuterol concentration-dependently. In this study, the optimal solvent system for the penetration of clenbuterol was found to be 50/50 buffer(pH 10)/PG solvent mixture containing 2% lauryl alcohol.

The physicochemical and structural properties of new capsaicin derivative, DA-5018, were examined. The reference standard of this compound was obtained by the recrystallization. A method for the determination of the dissociation constant of the compound is described. pH-solubility and distribution coefficient were determined by chromatographic method. Fundamental properties on thermal behaviors were investigated by TG, DTA and DSC. Structural analysis based on spectroscopic method coincided with the chemical structure of DA-5018. Approximate dissociation constant of the compound determined by UV spectral method was 9.35. Solubilities and partition coefficients in various pH buffer solution appeared pH-dependency. No crystal transition or further transition was found in the thermal analysis. This compound showed good stability, but pH 13 buffer and acetone made some degradative products.
1. The sericin solubility increased rapidly as the increase of water M-alkalinity. 2. The acidity of the treated water was nutralized at the over 25ppm of M-alkalinity. 3. The more M-alkalinity of the sample water is, the more M-alkalinity was found after cocoon treat. 4. The total hardness of sample water seemed to be droped as M-alkalinity increased. 5. The sericin solubility also seemed to be droped as the increase of water acidity. 6. In case of treat finish with cocoon, the acidity and total hardness seemed to increase as the acidity of the water increased, but M-alkalinity was nutralized at 20~40 ppm of water acidity or the M-alkalinity could not be found in case over 40ppm of acidity. 7. In case increase of iron component with sample water, sericin solubility seemed to drop down, and mangan component showed the same nature but dull drop. 8. After cocoon was treated with water, acidity, M-alkalinity and total hardness were increased by the extraction from cocoon shell because of pH and treating temperature but not because of iron componnent. Mangan component, however, affected as to increase of acidity and total hardness but to decrease for M-alkalinity. 9. In case change of M-alkalinity and total hardness, sericin solubility has increased also. 10. In case constant pH and total hardness, the more M-alkalinity is, the more sericin solubility was found. 11. In case constant pH, total hardness, and M-alkalinity, the more acidity is, the less sericin solubility was found. 12. In case constant pH(6.8) and M-alkalinity, the more total hardness is, the less sericin solubility was found. 13. Though the combination of water, high solubility water, medium solubility water and low solubility water were prepared. The high solubility water desolved sericin 2.2% more than low solubility water. And the medium solubility water desolved sericin as much as 2.4~2.9%. 14. It was found that the most important factors for filature water are pH, M-alkalinity, acidity and total hardness which may need more words for optimum filature water development. 15. In case of repeat use of water, the buffer action of water has increased so that the sericin solubility to be decreased.
In order to investigate gelation properties of Gelation Properties of ${\alpha}-lactalbumin$(${\alpha}-La$), gelling times and protein solubilities of ${\alpha}-La$ gels prepared in 0.1 M Tris-HCI buffer(pH 8.0) followed by heating at $90^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes under different ${\alpha}-La$ concentration, NaCl, $CaCl_2$, N-ethylmaleimide(NEM), and dithiothreitol(DTT) concentration were measured. Gelling times decreased with increasing concentration of ${\alpha}-La$, NaCl, $CaCl_2$, and DTT, but increased with increasing concentration of NEM. ${\alpha}-La$ solutions made from all treatments were gelled within 40 minutes with the exception of NEM at $20{\sim}50\;mM$. Solubilities decreased with increasing concentration of ${\alpha}-La$, NaCl, $CaCl_2$, and DTT, but the solubility of NEM-modified gels increased with increasing concentration of NEM. As the results, solubilities In standard buffer were $10.4{\sim}51.3%$, $9.2{\sim}35.4%$, $11.1{\sim}35.0%$, $8.0{\sim}9.5%$, and $96.8{\sim}56.2%$, respectively. Solubilities in standard buffer containing 8 M urea and 0.5% SDS were higher than those in standard buffer, and were $41.8{\sim}81.3%$, $41.9{\sim}64.1%$, $43.5{\sim}69.8%$, $29.6{\sim}38.5%$, and $77.4{\sim}98.9%$, respectively. Solubilities in the presence of DTT were almost close to 100% in all conditions. These results indicates that the gelation rate and solubility are influenced by many factors, i.e. protein concentration, kind and concentration of salts, concentration of thiol reagents. The solubility of gel decreased with increasing the gelation rate.
This study was performed to obtain a large quantity of $\alpha$-lactalbumin ($\alpha$-LA) from milk by an improved separation and purification method. Functional properties-solubility viscosity, emulsifying activity, foamability surface hydrophobicity and gelation-of the purified $\alpha$-LA were investigated, $\alpha$-LA was purified in a large quantity by DEAE-Sephacel chromatography using 0.15M NaCl in 20mM Tris-HCl buffer(pH 7.2), as an eluent. The yield and purity of the purified $\alpha$-LA were 23.6%, 92.5%, respect-ively. The solubility viscosity and emulsifying activity of the purified $\alpha$-LA were 92.2$\pm$2% 3.46$\pm$0.19 cP and 345$\pm$5.0m^2$-/g respecively. The foamability of $\alpha$ -LA was 762 after 5min whipping which was lower than that of WPC and showed decreasing tendency with whipping time. The relative surface hydrophobicity of the $\alpha$-LA was formed when a 10% $\alpha$-LA solution containing 100mM NaCl and 20 mM $CaCl_2$ was heated at 92$^{\circ}C$for 40min. The $\alpha$-LA gel showed 31.5 as hardness and showed low springiness and cohesiveness.
Industry- or regulatory-sponsored research activities on the resolution of Generic Safety Issue (GSI)-191 were reviewed, especially on the chemical effects. Potential chemical effects on the head loss across the debris-loaded sump strainer under a post-accident condition were experimentally evidenced by small-scale bench tests, integrated chemical effects test (ICET), and vertical loop head loss tests. Three main chemical precipitates were identified by WCAP-16530-NP: calcium phosphate, aluminum oxyhydroxide, and sodium aluminum silicate. The former two precipitates were also identified as major chemical precipitates by the ICETs. The assumption that all released calcium would form precipitates is reasonable. CalSil insulation needs to be minimized especially in a plant using trisodium phosphate buffer. The assumption that all released aluminum would form precipitates appears highly conservative because ICETs and other studies suggest substantial solubility of aluminum at high temperature and inhibition of aluminum corrosion by silicate or phosphate. The industry-proposed chemical surrogates are quite effective in increasing the head loss across the debris-loaded bed and more effective than the prototypical aluminum hydroxide precipitates generated by in-situ aluminum corrosion. There appears to be some unresolved potential issues related to GSI-191 chemical effects as identified in NUREG/CR-6988. The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, however, concluded that the implications of these issues are either not generically significant or are appropriately addressed, although several issues associated with downstream in-vessel effects remain.
Two kinds of solution for the measurement of solubilities of Sericin are prepared as followings at temperature 90 deg. C. One has the total carbonate concentration as 0, 50, 100mg CO2/l prepared with non-carbonate distilled water, sodium hydrogen carbonate and 0.1N HCI and NaOH, the other has total hardness, that is, calcium hardness or magnesium hardness as 0, 20, 50, 100mg CaCO2/l respectively prepared with non-carbonate distilled water, calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide. Solubilities of Cocoon layer Sericin at above solution gives following results ; 1. pH shows little effect on the solubility of Sericin at the non-carbonate solution but at the carbonate solution pH shows a sensitive effect on the solubility of Sericin. These means that pH controls the concentration of H2CO3, HCO3-and CO32- which prevent and promote the solution of Sericin. 2. After the cocoon layer treatment at the solution, the initial pH of 4.0, 7.0, 9.0 of the solution changed to 6.0-6.5 at the lower total carbonate solution. However in the higher total carbonate solution pH did not changed very much. This may be explained by the buffer action of carbonate. 3. The effect of the hardness on the solubility of Sericin was not found in the non-carbonate solution with the standard hardness after treatment of cocoon layer.
Docetaxel-loaded liposomes were prepared by emulsion-solvent evaporation method, then coated with chitosan at room temperature and lyophilized. This system was designed in order to improve solubility and stability of docetaxel in the GI tract for oral drug delivery. The solubilizing effect of some frequently used solubilizers and/or liposome was determined. Among the results docetaxel-loaded liposomes prepared with 0.5% TPGS as a solubilizer showed 100-fold higher solubility than docetaxel. In a stability test, mean particle size of different liposome formulations was measured by a particle size analyzer in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) and in simulated intestinal fluid (SIF). The particle size of uncoated liposomes was significantly increased compared with that of chitosan-coated liposomes in SGF, however, there was no significant difference between coated and uncoated liposome in SIF. It is evident that chitosan-coated liposomes were more stable in GI conditions. The release characteristics of docetaxel-loaded liposomes were also investigated in three buffer solutions (pH 1.2, 4.0, 6.8). Docetaxel release did not occur in pH 1.2 for 4 hrs. However, in pH 4.0 and 6.8 conditions, docetaxel was gradually released over 24 hrs as a sustained release. It seems that aggregation and precipitation of particles by electrostatic interaction might protect docetaxel from being released. In Conclusion, the results from this study show that the chitosan-coated liposomes may be useful in enhancing solubility and GI stability of docetaxel.

This study was investigated to determine the functional properties of mugbean protein isolates(MPI) from sunhwa-nogdu(SH) and conventional mungbean varieties(C). MPI were prepared from defatted mungbean flour by extraction with 0.1N NaOH, precipitation at pH 4.5, washing of dispersed precipitate with buffer solution and distilled water, and subsequent freeze-drying. Crude protein content of MPI was in the range of $88.7{\sim}91.3%$. The lowest solubility was recorded at $pH\;4{\sim}5$, whereas the best buffering action was in the range of $5.5{\sim}7.5$. On the other hand, gelation of MPI was found to depend on the protein concentration. In the cases of foamability, % volume increase and specific volume were higher for 10 min. with a good whipping ability. And also, the MPI properties of two varieties of SH and C were compared and discussed.
