  • Sixty human premolar teeth were used for this in vitro study. After each tooth was sectioned mesiodistally, one half was used for the experimental group and the other half for the control. Three groups were made for each fluoride applying method and twenthy teeth were assigned to each group. Ten teeth were used for evaluating total fluoride amount and the other ten were used for firmly-bound fluoride. Fluorshield was used for fluoride-releasing sealant and 1.23% APF, 0.05% NaF were used for topical application fluorides. Each tooth was cleaned with a tooth brush using nonfluoride containing pumice before the experiment. In the sealant group, fluoroshield was applied to the enamel surface without etching procedure and stored in $37^{\circ}C$ saline for 30 days. After 30 days, sealant was removed with explorer without scratching the enamel surface and washed with distilled water and dried. In the APF group, each tooth was immersed in 1.23% APF for 30 min then washed and dried in the same manner. In the NaF group, each tooth was immersed in 0.05% NaF for 24 hours then washed and dried as described above. After each fluoride regimen was applied, ten teeth were randomly selected from each group and immersed in 1M KOH solution for 24 hours to remove loosely-bound fluoride possibly deposited by the three different fluorides applied. In each group, total fluoride amount deposited and the amount of enamel removed by acid biopsy were calculated. After loosely-bound fluoride was removed, firmly-bound fluoride deposited and the amount of enamel removed by acid biopsy were also calculated. Total fluoride amount deposition was significantly increased in the APF and NaF groups, but not in the sealant group. Amount of enamel removed by acid-biopsy was also significantly diminished in the APF and NaF groups, but not in the sealant groups. After loosely-bound fluoride was removed from each groups, no statistical difference was found in the amount of firmly-bound fluoride in any groups. Also no effect of firmly-bound fluoride on enamel dissolution was shown in any groups after loosely-bound fluoride was removed from each group. In conclusion, topical application method of APF or NaF is more effective than fluoride-releasing sealant application to make $CaF_2$ coating on enamel surface and $CaF_2$ coating is the main source for anticariogenic effect of fluoride. However, longterm anticariogenic effect of fluoride-releasing sealant should be further evaluated.

  • This study carried out questionnaire survey and experiment on oral hygiene effects according to the actual condition of using oral care products and the amount of toothpaste used targeting 40 freshmen and sophomores in dental hygienics in some universities from November 8, 2010 to November 26. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS WIN 15.0 program. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The result of actual condition of toothbrushing is as follows. As the answer of a question about whether or not toothbrushing after every meal at ordinary times, the largest was 47.5% of being average. The occasion of toothbrushing before going to bed at ordinary times was the largest with 47.5%. The daily toothbrushing frequency was 3 times mostly and the general toothbrushing method at ordinary times was a rolling method. The frequency of exchanging toothbrushes for the past 1 year was 3 times, which is the largest with 45.0%. 2. As a result of the actual condition of using oral care products, the majority of students don't use electric toothbrush, interdental brush, or mouth-rinse except dental floss. Accordingly, there need to be education and promotion with diverse methods so that a patient oneself can prevent oral disease by selecting and using oral care products that are proper for each individual. Also, it was indicated that there is no big difference in oral hygiene effects depending on the amount of toothpaste used. Thus, to avoid wasting toothpaste, we need to educate and promote to use the amount of toothpaste under 0.3g.

  • This study proposes the design and implementation of a low-cost emergency ventilator which can be helpful during the COVID-19 pandemic where the supply of automatic ventilators is not smooth compared with the urgent demand worldwide. Easy implementation and lower price were made possible by using AMBU-bag and off-the-shelf embedded micro-controller board. Moreover, while 3D printing is used by companies and experts around the world to build prototype hardware, materials which are readily available from surrounding environments so that people in countries where it is difficult to access many advanced technologies could manufacture the system. The design features AMBU-bag automation, not use 3D printing, and it can contrl speed. By allowing speed control, ventilation can be performed according to the conditions of the patient being used. A complementary point in the study is that it is difficult to fix the start point of the wiper motor used first. A method for complementing this is a method for replacing the brush DC motor with a position feedback function. Secondly, the AMBU-bag may wear out in the long-term process of compressing the AMBU-bag because the arm and the fixing frame are made of wood. To complement this, the part of fixing frame and arm parts that the AMBU-bag touches need to be wrapped in a material such as silicon to minimize friction.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a method for the effective management of toothbrush contamination. Toothbrush microbial contamination was analyzed according to the duration of toothbrush use, frequency of toothbrush use per day, and toothbrush storage location. We also analyzed the microbial reduction effect of vinegar, antimicrobial mouth rinse, bamboo salt, and baking soda, which are sterilization materials that can be easily used every day. We collected 45 toothbrushes from university dormitories from May to June 2018. To determine the degree of microbiological contamination with general bacteria, coliform bacteria, and Staphylococcus aureus, bristle samples were cultured at $36^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours using 3M$^{TM}$ Petrifilm plates and then measured based on Petrifilm evaluation criteria. Toothbrush microorganisms were analyzed according to the duration of use, frequency of use per day, storage location, and effect of each sterilization material. General bacteria, coliforms, and S. aureus contamination increased with frequency and duration of use (p<0.05). In particular, S. aureus showed a statistically significant increase to 36.15 CFU/ml after 1 month, 504.23 CFU/ml after 2 months, and 2,386.67 CFU/ml after 3 months (p<0.05). We found that 1% vinegar was the most effective substance for reducing general bacteria, coliforms, and S. aureus. In addition, 1% antimicrobial mouth rinse solution applied for 5 minutes was the most effective in reducing S. aureus. It is crucial to recognize the importance of toothbrush care and store toothbrushes in a dry place and replace them periodically. We recommend use of vinegar and antimicrobial mouth rinse solution to disinfect toothbrushes. These should be applied as a 1% solution for at least 1 minute. Proper care of toothbrushes is important in maintaining oral health as well as overall health. Instructions on toothbrush care should be given when teaching children or adults how to brush teeth.

  • This study was performed to develop environmentally-friendly finishing materials for construction. In order to abate formaldehyde and ammonia in indoor air, liquid coating agents for indoor finishing were formulated with bamboo charcoal powder, cypress extracted water, and water-borne acrylic binder. Deodorization rate, far-infrared ray emission rate, anions emission amount, and anti-bacterial effect were investigated. Deodorization rate was increased as cypress extracted water content increased. Deodorization rates of the coating agents were 60.0~98.6% on formaldehyde and 76.7~86.2% on ammonia. No differences on far-infrared ray emission rate, anions emission amount, and anti-bacterial effect were found depending on different formulations. A 91.7% of far-infrared ray emission rate, 77 ea/cc of anions emission amount, and 99.4% of anti-bacterial effect were detected for all formulations. More effective application method of the coating agents revealed was a spray-gun. A $0.66kg/m^2$ of coating agent with a spray-gun and $0.94kg/m^2$ of coating agent with a brush was consumed each.

  • The mobile phone and wireless network, location based technology and other newly introduced technologies and communication media gave birth to the new terminology "ubiquitous" and are changing our daily life. Influence of such technologies and communication media is not an exception in the arts. New media art pieces using these technologies are increasing, and taking on the characteristics of public art within a wider scope of a city as a backdrop, beyond the traditional boundaries of art galleries. Of such art, locative media art using locative media has a closer relationship with city space than any other form of an, and makes various attempts to allow the spectator to reinterpret and experience city space and induce communication. These characteristics of locative media art can be considered as a method that can solve quality problems of the city space, especially the loss of the sense of place and the absence of communication. is one such locative media project with a purpose of solving quality problems of city space, especially the recovery of commercial sites and inducing communication. This project uses the paths of the city as its canvas, movement of people as its brush, the color of the roads as its pallet, and by allowing the partakers to draw paths of their own and to share their paths with others. People are encouraged to share stories about their paths. The project proceeds using barcodes that are frequently used commercially. When users wish to create their own place, they can enter their place and colors of their choice using input devices installed in the city space. Paths that are created through such a process will be displayed in public areas throughout the city, shared with others, and can create and share a stories about the city using on/off-line media.

  • In our study, we investigated self-evaluation of tongue coating, self-rating intensity of oral malodor, habit related to tooth brushing and tongue scraping. Investigation was carried out on 714 Korean college students by method of self-reporting to prepared questionnaire. The obtained data were processed and analyzed with SAS program. The results of this study are as follows. 1. Students who have frequently experienced tongue coating have tendency to have stronger oral malodor than the other students. 2. The self-reporting prevalence rate of oral malodor is 81.1%. 3. Students who brush teeth shortly and irregularly have tendency to have stronger oral malodor than the other students. 4. Students with strong oral malodor have tendency to neglect scraping tongue. 5. Students with low index of tooth brushing or low index of oral hygiene controllability have tendency to have stronger oral malodor than the other students. 6. Mean scales of tooth brushing index(p<.0001), tongue scraping index(p=0.0439) and oral hygiene controllability index(p<.0001) among students in the department of Dental Hygiene and Dental Technology are significantly higher than those among general students.
