  • In this paper, We have developed the Internet web browser for the blind and visually impaired person. The Internet Web browser system consists of personal computer connected to Internet, braille display, voice synthesis devices for character information, tactile display for the representation of web image and braille printer for web page printing. We convert character in the web page to braille and print it to braille display. The image in the web page is printed with tactile display actuated by solenoid. The blind can acess the Internet web site with this web browser system and understand the Internet information.

  • Currently the systematic approaches to implementing CALS and reducing time-to-market are widely used, which is based on the concept of PDM. The concept of PDM is to maximize the time-to-market benefits of concurrent engineering while maintaining control of product data and distributing, it automatically to the people who need it - when they need it. In this paper, we developed PRO browser with these PDM functions which have the functions of managing the information of product, process and organization consistently and inter-referencing efficiently the data required in enaluation. In the PRO browser, throughout the design process improvement, the generic environments are embodied which make it possible to reduce product development sycle time and improve the quality of design.

  • Lately mobile handheld devices such as Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and cellular phones are getting more popular for personal web surfing. However, today most mobile handheld devices have relatively poor web browsing capability due to their low performance so their users have to suffer longer communication latency than those of desktop Personal Computers (PCs). In this paper, we propose an effective pre-refresh mechanism for embedded web browser of mobile handheld devices to reduce this problem. The proposed mechanism uses the idle time to pre-refresh the expired web objects in an embedded web browser's cache memory. It increases the utilization of Central Processing Unit (CPU) power and network bandwidth during the idle time and consequently reduces the client's latency and web browsing cost. An experiment was done using a simulator designed by us to evaluate the efficacy of the proposed mechanism. The experiment result demonstrates that it has a good performance to make web surfing faster.

  • Non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) provides many opportunities to improve the performance of computing devices. In this paper, we present an approach that reduces the user-perceived latency of browsers by using NVRAM. To this end, we first analyze the browser launch process, and then employ several techniques that improve the performance of each step by using NVRAM. Specially, we focus on minimizing the launch time of browser by 1) prefetching the block sequence required for browser launch, 2) caching the web resources in the fast NVRAM, and 3) reusing the displayed bitmap data in the frame buffer. Through implementation, we show that our scheme significantly reduces the launch time of browsers.

  • The SNOMED CT browser is a system for searching and browsing of a huge volume of medical terminologies included in SNOMED CT. Previous browsers provide a simple list-up of search results while they are similar from each other. It leads to a serious confusion in selecting an appropriate term among them. This paper presents a novel browser system which provides a comparative search of search results. To do this, the proposed system includes a terminology search module, a topology search module, and a sub-graph generation module for the results.

  • The present Web surroundings is mostly composed of HTML(Hypertext Mark-up Language) and thereby users obtain web informations mainly in GUI(Graphical User Interface) environment by clicking mouse in order to keep up with hyperlinked informations. However it is very inconvenient to work in this environment comparing with easily accessed one in which human`s voice is utilized for obtaining informations. Using VoiceXML, resulted from XML, for supplying the information through telephone on the basis of the contemporary matured technology of voice recognition/synthesis to work out the inconvenience problem, this paper presents the research results about VoiceXML VUI(Voice User Interface) Browser designed and implemented for realizing its technology and also the VoiceXML Dialog designed for the purpose of the browser's efficient use.

  • VR browser is one of the most popular applications for VR(Virtual Reality) environment. However, because most of the web contents are not designed considering the VR environment, scrolling the web pages in the VR browser causes much visual discomfort. We found it's because the angular velocity of the eye movement during scrolling increased because the viewing distance got closer compared with legacy devices. So we have developed a technology that regulates the scrolling to reduce the visual discomfort in the VR browser, in reference of the visual perception characteristics of the human visual system.

  • The paper is design and implementation of the system to support security communication between a Web Browser and a CGI program by a Web Server using PKI(Public Key Infrastructure. This system uses GSS(Generic Security Service)-API to communicate with PKI, offers a Web user a Client Proxy, and offers a CGI developer there library functions related with security. TLS(Transport Layer Security) supports security communication between a Web Browser and a Web Server, but the system supports security communication between a Web Browser and a CGI program as the protected data received from a Client Proxy are sent to a CGI program, and the CGI program decrypts the data using the library functions supported by this system.
