Existing radars have been developed by applying RF sub-array algorithms, and recently, fully digital Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar algorithms have been implemented for vehicle radars. In this paper, the radar algorithm applying the Phased MIMO method to the hardware of the RF sub-array method, which is an unsecured technology, was implemented and verified in real time. In order to secure RF sub-array Phased MIMO algorithm technology, a hardware structure for FPGA-based real-time signal processing was presented, and performance was first predicted through design and simulation. Through this, the digital signal of FPGA-based broadband MIMO FMCW radar The processing hardware was developed, and the Phased MIMO radar algorithm of the RF sub-Array method was finally implemented and verified in real time. Based on this, it is judged that it will be possible to secure and apply core technologies necessary for terahertz band radar in the future.

In this paper, a performance enhancement study of an AESA antenna that can be applied to a seeker that serves as the eye of a missile was conducted, and the performance of the antenna was verified through actual measurement. When designing an AESA antenna, the optimization of the active reflection coefficient must be considered during transmission due to the mutual coupling between radiators that inevitably occurs, and the selection of a radiator that can overcome the space limitation of the seeker with a small size/light weight is an important design consideration. Accordingly, optimization in terms of electrical performance and low-profile structure is required through research on array antennas for application to the AESA structure. The radiator designed and measured in this paper was designed as an SFN that can satisfy the low-profile structure while enhancing the performance of a general vivaldi antenna. Through this paper, it was confirmed that SFN has the same broadband characteristics as general vivaldi antennas and has optimized characteristics required for AESA antennas. The structure optimized through simulation confirmed the pattern characteristics and active reflection coefficient characteristics through the fabrication of actual proto-type antennas.
Interference and collisions often occur in the loading process at shipyards. Existing simulation methods focus primarily on resource processes and schedules, and there is a lack of real-time reflection in the complex and highly variable loading process. This study aims to develop a spatial environment incorporating real-time product data, such as hulls, and confirms its effectiveness by simulating various construction scenarios. As a method, a near real-time spatial environment based on broadband laser scanning was established, with the situation of loading heavy cargo assumed when converting an existing ship into an LNG dual-fuel propulsion ship. A case study simulation of near-real-time cargo loading processes was then conducted using Unity 3D to confirm the interference and collision risks within the spatial environment. The results indicated that interference occurred in structures previously not identified in the design data, and a collision occurred during the loading object erection phase. The simulation confirmed that the identification of interference and collision risks during the erection phase highlights the need for a relocation or removal process of potential hazards before erection takes place. An improved erection simulation that integrates near real-time data could effectively prevent interference and collision risks.
In the present study, polyacetal bone mimics with circular cylindrical pores were used to investigate variations of speed of sound and attenuation coefficient with porosity and microarchitecture in bone. The speed of sound and attenuation coefficient of the 6 bone mimics with porosities from 0 % to 65.9 % were measured by a through-transmission method in water, using a pair of broadband, unfocused transducers with a diameter of 12.7 mm and a center frequency of 1.0 MHz. Independently of the structural properties of the bone mimics, the speed of sound decreased almost linearly with the increasing porosity. The attenuation coefficient measured at 1.0 MHz exhibited linear or nonlinear correlations with the porosity, depending on the structural properties of the bone mimics. These results are consistent with those previously published by other researchers using bone samples and mimics, and advances our understanding of the relationships of the ultrasonic parameters for the diagnosis of osteoporosis with the bone density and microarchitecture in human bones.

The electro-mechanical characteristics were theoretically analyzed for the wideband ultrasonic transducer made of non-uniform thickness piezoelectric vibrator. This paper proposes a combination of exponential functions which describes the thickness variation along the length of the vibrator to derive the input admittance and power transfer function of the transducer. The bandwidth and the power transfer function of the transducer were investigated while the lateral shape of the vibrator changes. The results showed there is an optimum shape for the wideband characteristics of the transducer, and the bandwidth has increased up to over 100% as the ratio of minimum value of thickness to maximum value decreases. However, the power transfer function had a downward trend as the ratio of thickness decreases. Also we confirmed that even though the value of transfer function increases as the length of the piezoelectric vibrator increases, the shape providing wideband characteristics is very limited. It means that precision processing is required to manufacturing a wideband ultrasonic transducer with high efficiency.

As 5G and AI continue to develop, there has been a significant surge in the healthcare industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed immense challenges to the global health system. This study proposes an FL-supported edge computing model based on federated learning (FL) for predicting clinical outcomes of COVID-19 patients during hospitalization. The model aims to address the challenges posed by the pandemic, such as the need for sophisticated predictive models, privacy concerns, and the non-IID nature of COVID-19 data. The model utilizes the FATE framework, known for its privacy-preserving technologies, to enhance predictive precision while ensuring data privacy and effectively managing data heterogeneity. The model's ability to generalize across diverse datasets and its adaptability in real-world clinical settings are highlighted by the use of SHAP values, which streamline the training process by identifying influential features, thus reducing computational overhead without compromising predictive precision. The study demonstrates that the proposed model achieves comparable precision to specific machine learning models when dataset sizes are identical and surpasses traditional models when larger training data volumes are employed. The model's performance is further improved when trained on datasets from diverse nodes, leading to superior generalization and overall performance, especially in scenarios with insufficient node features. The integration of FL with edge computing contributes significantly to the reliable prediction of COVID-19 patient outcomes with greater privacy. The research contributes to healthcare technology by providing a practical solution for early intervention and personalized treatment plans, leading to improved patient outcomes and efficient resource allocation during public health crises.
The pipping system is widely used in many industries as equipment for transporting fluids over long distances. In high-pressure pipe, as the speed of the fluid increases, a loud noise is generated. Therefore, various studies have been conducted to reduce pipe noise. In this paper, a pipe noise analysis was developed to predict and quantitatively assess the flow-induced vibration and acoustic-induced vibration due to valve flow in high-temperature and high-pressure. To do this, a high-fidelity fluid analysis technique was developed for predicting internal flow in the pipe with valve. In additional, the contribution of compressible/incompressible pressure by frequency band was evaluated using the wavenumber-frequency analysis. To predict a low/middle frequency pipe noise, the vibroacoustic analysis method was developed based on Finite Element Method (FEM). And the pipe noise prediction method for the middle/high frequency was developed based on Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA).
In shallow water, the array invariant, known as the effective range estimation method, is developed based on the broadband dispersion characteristics in an ideal waveguide, which can be summarized by the waveguide invariant. It is robust enough to estimate both the array tilt and range simultaneously, even in situations where array tilt exists. Recently, it has been extended to fully consider the angle dependence of the waveguide invariant. However, applying the array invariant in range-dependent environments instead of range-independent environments can lead to range estimation errors due to bathymetry mismatch. In this paper, we interpret such range estimation errors by introducing the concept of effective range. Through numerical simulations and experimental data in a weakly range-dependent environment, we demonstrate the relationship between range estimation errors and effective range.

This paper is studied for the design and experiment of a wideband printed 1x2 dipole array antenna for 3.5GHz band application. The printed dipole antenna used in the array antenna was implemented in the form of a rectangular strip, and was consisted with a broadside coupled stripline (BCS). The feed line was designed to be tapered for broadband impedance matching. As a result of comparing the simulation results and measurement results, it was found that the two results were in good agreement with 2.8% error(100MHz shift @3.5GHz). As a result of the experiment, based on VSWR=2, a bandwidth of about 16% was obtained from the center frequency of 3.5 GHz to 3.15~3.70 GHz.

Due to the large-scale TV display, the convergence of broadcasting and broadband, and the advancement of signal compression and transmission technology, terrestrial digital broadcasting has evolved into UHD broadcasting capable of providing simultaneous broadcasting of fixed UHD and mobile HD. The Korean standard for terrestrial UHDTV broadcasting is based on ATSC 3.0, the broadcasting standard of North America. The terrestrial UHDTV broadcasting standard chose that as a new AV codec standard, HEVC video codec which can compress with higher efficiency compared to AVC, and MPEG-H 3D audio codec for realistic audio. Also, DASH and MMT are adopted as transmission format instead of MPEG-2 TS to support broadband as well as broadcasting network, and in order to provide 4K UHD/mobile HD service simultaneously ROUTE multiplexing technology is applied. In this paper, we propose an audio/video encoder, which is required to provide HDR/WCG supported high quality video service, 10.2 channel/4 object supporting stereo sound service, fixed UHD and mobile HD simultaneous broadcasting service based on ATSC3.0, also we implemented the ATSC 3.0 LDM system for ROUTE/DASH packager, multiplexing system and physical layer transmission/reception, and verified the service ability by applying it to real time broadcast environment.
