The present study was conducted to analyze(1) if there are any differences in jean's brand royalty according to the age·sex·educational background and income of consumers (2) the criteria for store choice by jean's brand royalty of consumers (3) the use of information souces by jean's brand royalty of consumers. The research method employed was normative-descriptive survey and questionnaires were main instrument to gather research materials. The survey was implemented from July 1st 1998 to the schools and two colleges and those who work at a comuter-related company and at a trade company. The data gathered was analyzed by mean standard deviation t-test ANOVA and Duncan -multiple range test. The results are summarized as follows: (1) 58.6% of the respondents were categorized as the brand loyalty group that was bigger than the non-brand loyalty group (41.4%) People in their late 2-'s were inclined to have the highest brand loyalty for jeans People in university and above had relatively higher brand royalty than to people with a high school or lower (2) Brand royalty group paid more attention on the quality on the quality of the fabric use; the trands of the products: brand name of the product: the distance of the store location : and the comfortable atmosphere of the store. Pleasant and kind services of the salesperson was considered as more important factor for store selection by the non-brand royalty group than by brand royalty group. (3) Almost all the information sources were used more often by brand royalty group than non-brand royalty group. For both groups their own experiences is most important information sources. The results shows that consumers have high brand loyalty for jeans product and also have many differences not only in the usage of information sources but also in the store selection criteria accorrding to the level of jeans brand loyalty . Therefore those industries carrying jeans should these points on their marketing strategies.
Purpose - As the importance of salesperson attitudes and behaviors enhancing customer perception and loyalty have increased, many retail companies put emphasis on internal marketing activities. The issue also has captured the interest of academics, but most of the previous research tends to be limited to investigating antecedents of salesperson job satisfaction and commitment. Based on the consumer-brand relationship concepts, this study aims to examine the effects of the salesperson-brand relationships on customers' service evaluation and store loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - In a structural equation model, it is hypothesized that salesperson brand identification influences salespersons' brand trust and affect, which are the two dimensions of consumer-brand relationships. Salespersons' brand trust and affect are expected to increase salespersons' customer orientation, which in turn influences customers' service evaluations and store loyalty. To test this hypotheses a set of data collected from department stores in Seoul is utilized. Results - First, it was found that salesperson brand identification is a significant antecedent to salespersons' brand trust and affects, the two dimensions of salesperson brand relationships. Second, salespersons' brand trust and affect were found to enhance salespersons' customer-oriented behaviors. Third, salespersons' customer orientation showed a significant effect on customers' service evaluation. When a salesperson makes more effort to provide useful information for fulfilling customer needs, customers evaluate the salesperson's service more positively. Finally, customers' service evaluation had a positive impact on customers' store loyalty. Conclusions - This study provides significant academic and practical implications. First, based on the theory of consumer-brand relationships, the concept of salesperson-brand relationships was introduced and found to be an effective motivator of salespersons' customer oriented attitudes and behaviors. Therefore, the two dimensions of brand relationships, brand trust and affect, should be considered as the critical factors both in developing theoretical research and improving long-term company performance. Also, internal marketing activities should focus on maximizing employees' brand identification. That is, retail companies need to put emphasis on sharing their brand values and personality with internal customers to strengthen the brand relationships with salespersons and to enhance customer responses.
Purpose - The objective of this paper is to suggest that a company's CRM activities have an effect on customer loyalty in the Korean retail industry. Typically, Korean customers use large local marts with convenience in the absence of any other choice. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on the fact that customers do not break away from their preferred retail stores, either owing to their stringent loyalty (the lie loyalty) or difficulty in turning to alternative choices. Research design, data, methodology - By surveying a sample of 200 hyper-markets through a questionnaire, and excluding dubious and missing responses, I obtained 181 samples to be included in the empirical analysis. The survey was conducted for two weeks during October 2011. AMOS and SPSS18 statistical packages were used for conducting statistical analysis for this study. This paper was developed using the concept of customer equity on CRM, which is known to have a positive impact on customer loyalty through the satisfaction and switching-barrier parameters. The hypothesis of this paper is that customer equity is composed of relationship equity, value equity and brand equity, and that the relationship equity variable has positive effects on the value equity and brand equity amongst other types of customer equity. Moreover, customer equity influences customer loyalty through parameters including customer satisfaction and switching costs in the Korean retail industry. Results - According to the results of the analysis, it was confirmed that relationship value had a positive effect (+) on all variables, including the perceived QoS (Quality of Service), store brand images, economic value, and store convenience. It was also confirmed that the assumption that the perceived QoS (Quality of Service), economic value, and store convenience had a positive effect on customer satisfaction was shown to be statistically significant, with a p-value below 0.05. Only the store brand value variable had an effect on the switching-cost variable with respect to the causal sequence of the variables, including the perceived QoS, store brand value, economic value, and store convenience. The remaining variables did not seem to influence the switching-cost variable. On the other hand, another effect showed that customer satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on the switching-costs variable. Moreover, the customer satisfaction and switching-cost variables also had a statistical influence on customer loyalty. Conclusions - The CRM activities had an influence on various variables (including perceived QoS, perceived economic value, store brand value, and store convenience) pertaining to customer values. Customer satisfaction and switching-cost had some effects on customer loyalty as a parameter. This confirms that stringent loyalty exists with respect to customer loyalty in the retail industry. The fact that the variable had such a statistically significant influence on the switching-cost and store brand equity variables means that consumers react to the reputation of a brand, confidence about the store, and quality confidence. The implications of this study in the retail industry should be further extended to devise strategies for customer retention.
This study was to identify underlying dimension of marketing strategy, and to examine effect of the marketing strategic factors on store affect, brand attitude, and brand loyalty in global and domestic SPA brands. Based on pilot study, four SPA brands of which consumers were most aware were selected: Korean SPAs (e.g., Codes-Combine, Basic House) and global brands (e.g., Zara and Uniqlo). A self-administered questionnaire was developed based on literatures. By using intercept survey, 421 respondents were obtained from consumers shopping at the selected SPA retail stores located in cities (Seoul, Daejon, Chongju) in Korea. Result showed that SPA brand marketing strategy consisted of four factors: Product differentiation, store location, in-store VMD, and price value. The marketing strategic factors had partially significant effects on brand attitude, store affect and store loyalty. However, there was significant differences in those effects between global and Korean SPA brands. Specifically, the effect of in-store VMD on brand attitude was higher in Korean SPA brands, whereas the effect of price value was higher in global SPA brand. Also, the price value was significant predictor of store affects in global SPAs, while in-store VMD was significant predictor of store loyalty in Korean SPA brands. This study discussed a managerial implication for creating brand attitude and emotional responses, which obtains comparative advantages in the competing marketplace.
This study estimated a structural model for examining causal relationships among flagship store experiences, store emotion and loyalty, and to compare the structural models between luxury and fast fashion SPA brands. A total of 416 responses were collected from consumers who had experience with a variety of luxury and SPA flagship stores. Findings confirmed that flagship store experience consisted of four factors, such as sensory, affective, intellectual and behavioral experiences. Sensory and behavioral experiences had positive effects on store emotion that influenced loyalty. Affective and cognitive experiences influenced loyalty. All aspects of experiences explained store emotion or loyalty for luxury flagship stores; however, two of experiences (i.e., sensory and affective) were important to determine store emotion or loyalty for SPA flagship stores. The study discussed managerial implications for fashion brands to develop and manage flagship stores.
Purpose: Brand hearsay refers to information that can be acquired from advertisement, media publicity, and word-of-mouth prior to experiencing products or services of brands. Previous information about brands obtained through brand hearsay affects consumer behavior in choosing brands. Moreover, brand hearsay is an effective communication method in promoting brands to consumers. Thus, bakery franchises need to improve strengths and differentiate characteristics of their brand, thereby attracting more consumers. Therefore, this study investigates relationships the effect of brand hearsay on consumers' brand attitude and brand loyalty in the context of franchised bakery brands. Research design, data, and methodology: A research model was proposed to examine structural relationships between brand hearsay (advertising, publicity, word-of-mouth), brand attitude, and brand loyalty. An online survey was conducted to consumers who had an experience of visiting a franchise bakery. A total of 513 responses were used for data analysis. SPSS 22.0 was used for analyzing general demographics, and SmartPLS 4.0 was used to test validity and reliability of the proposed model. Result: Among attributes of brand hearsay, advertisement and word-of-mouth had positively significant effects on brand attitude, but no significant effect was found between publicity and attitude. Advertisement had a positively significant impact on brand loyalty, while publicity had a negative effect on brand loyalty opposite to hypothesis. Moreover, brand attitude had a statistically significant effect on brand loyalty. Conclusions: In the context of franchise bakeries, brand hearsay contents may change consumers' attitude toward brands but does not increase brand loyalty. Though media publicity does not affect consumers' attitude toward brands, it may decrease brand loyalty when consumers are too exposed to it. In addition, it is necessary to enhance brand attitude to increase brand loyalty of customers. This study provides bakery franchisors and franchisees information about which type of brand hearsay (e.g., advertisement, word-of-mouth, media, publicity) is effective in enhancing brand attitudes and loyalty of consumers. Further studies may include other variables (e.g., trust) in addition to attitude and loyalty, or compare findings based on brand characteristics (e.g., low-to-medium/high prices, store size).
The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of marketing strategies of children's clothing line for global SPA brands among Korean consumers. The following factors were evaluated as the dependent variables: benefits sought, store attributes, and brand loyalty. We employed a survey method to test our research questions. The subjects of our survey were mothers with preschool kids between 2 and 7 years who had purchase experiences of children's clothing lines of global SPA brands. The major findings are as follows: First, among the three factors of benefits sought ('trend'/'brand value'/'practicality'), the 'trend' factor only positively impacted the 'product' factor, which is part of the store attributes. 'Practicality' and 'trend' factors had a positive effect on the 'service' factor of store attributes. However, all three factors of benefits sought had no impact on the 'store' factor, and 'practicality' and 'trend' factors had positive effects on the price factor of store attributes. Second, 'practicality' and 'trend' factors among the three factors of benefits sought, had positive effects on brand loyalty. Third, the 'product', 'price', 'store', and 'service' factors had a significant positive effect on brand loyalty in decreasing order. Suggestions from our results for national SPA brands are as follows: National SPA children's clothing lines should focus more on unique designs and unique marketing strategies better reflecting Korean consumers' interest and needs in competing with their global counterparts.
The purpose of this study was to identify clothing shopping orientation of university students and brand loyalty in Jinju, Korea. In addition, the effect of consumer's shopping orientation and brand equity factors on brand loyalty were analyzed. A self-administrated questionnaire was developed based on previous studies. A total of 257 useful data were analyzed by SPSS 13.0 program. About 64.6% were female with the mean age of 22.2 years old. The results of this study were as follows. First, clothing shopping orientation was classified into 6 factors: hedonic, store patronage, planned, brand-pursued, economic, and convenience shopping orientation. Second, brand equity was identified into two factors, brand image and brand-consumer relationship. Third, store patronage and hedonic orientation were significant predictors of brand loyalty($R^2$=.275). Brand image and brand-consumer relationship showed significant effects on brand loyalty($R^2$=.541). Findings of this study were expected to contribute to understand young consumers in a typical trading area and to develop marketing strategy for casual brands to increase and maintain brand loyalty.
The purpose of this study were to identify shopping orientation for fashion outlet consumers and its significance in influencing brand loyalty and shopping satisfaction. This study will propose results which help to better understand shopping orientation of fashion outlet consumers. A questionnaire was administered to 326 20s male and female living in Daegu Gyeongbuk during October of 2008. Data were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Reliability analysis, t-test and Regression analysis. The results of the research are as follows: First, The shopping orientation could be into 5 dimensions: pleasure tendency, fashion tendency, name brand tendency, prudence buying tendency, economic tendency. Brand loyalty were factor analyzed resulting three factors such as brand loyalty, brand care and brand knowledge. Brand loyalty factors of brand loyalty and brand knowledge had a positive effect on fashion tendency, name brand tendency. Brand care has a positive effect on name brand tendency and economic tendency. Second, Shopping satisfaction were factor analyzed resulting five factors such as product, store atmosphere, service store reputation, location convenience and price. Outlet product had a positive effect on fashion tendency, name brand tendency, prudence buying tendency and while all other factors showed a positive effect on preferences to follow trends. However, outlet price had a positive effect on only those consumers possessing a economic tendency.
This study examines the attributes of cosmetic stores that Chinese tourists considered when purchasing cosmetics in Korea and the effect of the evaluation of attributes in regards to satisfaction and brand loyalty based upon brand experience. The survey was performed from January 1-14 in 2014 through a Chinese professional online survey channel-www.sojump.com. A total of 338 data from female and male respondents who visited Korea and purchased Korea brand's cosmetics were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS. The results were as follows. Frist, cosmetic store attributes were composed of three factors such as physical environment and salespersons, price and promotion, service. Second, all the factors had a positive influence on brand experience. Among them, the influence of physical environment and salespersons were the highest. Third, brand experience influenced satisfaction and satisfaction also had positive influence on brand loyalty. The results above indicate that providing various experiences that appeal to customers is as important as improving product quality when maintaining long-term customer relationships and loyalty.
