Global Pricing Strategy of the SPA Brand: Comparison with GDP and Big Mac Index (SPA 브랜드의 글로벌 가격 전략: 국민소득 및 빅맥지수와의 비교)

  • Due to the dramatic increase in consumers' price sensitivity and growing importance for global retailers to create relevant price strategies, this study investigates the global pricing strategy of the main SPA brands such as ZARA, H&M and UNIQLO. Based on price information shown on official website, the study developed SPA brand index by using exchange rates in terms of US dollars and ratio of differences between the local price and the US price. These figures were compared with GDP per person data in order to analyze each brand's price level against the income level. The study also compared SPA brand index with Big Mac index to identify the difference in price levels between the fast fashion market and the fast food market. ZARA and H&M were mostly targeting Middle East and Asia as a high-price market when considering index only. After taking the income level into account, however, Asia came out be the highest price market and Middle East was similar to the US market. On the other hand, UNIQLO targeted Asia as the lowest price market and the US and EU as the highest in terms of index only. But, Asia came out to be the highest price zone after considering the income level while the price of the US and EU was reasonable. Comparison with Big Mac Index indicated that most of Asia had a higher price level of the fashion market than the food market, whereas most European countries had a similar or high-price level of food market.

Experiencing High Loneliness Increases Evaluation of Products in Social Media Ads

  • This research investigates how loneliness affects people's preferences for products that appear in social media ads. Four studies examine the impact of loneliness that is both measured in an established scale and situationally induced via a recall task. Individuals who experience higher levels of loneliness evaluate the same products more highly when they are advertised in a social (i.e., Instagram) compared to non-social (i.e., brand website) media platform. This effect occurs because loneliness increases people's attention to others' social evaluation of a product, and social media ads provide this information via social cues such as "likes" embedded in the ads. When the social cues are absent, the advantage of advertising on social compared to non-social media for people with high (vs. low) loneliness disappears. The findings suggest that social media ads have a unique appeal for individuals experiencing loneliness and highlight the role of social cues in shaping product evaluations.

Distributing Goods and Information Flow: Factors Influencing Online Purchasing Behavior of Indonesian Consumers

  • Purpose: The distribution of goods and the flow of information, determined by consumer behavior toward online shopping, is drastically popular worldwide. This study examines some factors such as brand trust, online sales promotion, consumer personality, delivery service, quality assurance, information search, and online consumer satisfaction influence online shopping behavior. Research design, data, and methodology: A constructed questionnaire in an online survey was conducted with 241 random cluster respondents in the greater Jakarta Area. Structure equation model was utilized to analyze and verify all the data. Results: Research finding indicates online sales promotion, delivery service, quality assurance, and online consumer satisfaction positively influence information search. Meanwhile, brand trust, quality assurance, and information search positively influence online shopping behavior. However, the result illustrates that consumer personality negatively influences both information search and online shopping behavior. Conclusions: To influence online shopping behavior, the most important factors that need to be considered by marketplaces are quality assurance. It positively motivates Indonesia's citizens to collect information and make unplanned purchases. The study finding can be a reference for brands to maintain and build outstanding product quality, an informational website, and an excellent marketing strategy so that customers can meet their expectations. Besides, it also broadens both companies' and individuals' knowledge about the digital revolution on consumer behavior.

A Case Study of the Sustainable Practice in Luxury Brands (럭셔리 브랜드의 지속가능 실천 사례에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to understand the current status of practice for sustainability in luxury fashion brands. A total of five luxury brands (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci, Burberry, and Prada) were selected. Each company's official website, sustainability reports, and articles on sustainability practices were compiled. In addition, analysis was performed based on criteria of sustainability such as environmental, social, economical, and cultural dimensions. As a result, the biggest commonality of the five brands was that they promoted the most active change in the environment. These brands tried to reduce energy consumption in materials and production processes. Among them, Burberry, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton had their own departments for sustainability. However, there were differences in strategies of activities between brands for social, economical, and cultural sustainability. Among the five companies, Burberry and Gucci pursued sustainability strategies the most aggressively. They separated their sustainability strategies in terms of environmental, social, economical, and cultural aspects and shared them with consumers. A set of outcomes for the plan were provided as objective data. The sustainable management strategy has become a key strategy for long-term growth of the luxury brand market. To survive in the market, luxury brands should elaborate sustainable management strategies and actively share them with consumers.

A Case Studies on the Sustainable Fashion Trend and Design as ESG Practice in the Post-Corona New Normal Period (포스트코로나 뉴노멀 시대의 ESG 실천 방안으로서의 지속가능한 패션경향 및 디자인 방향성 연구)

  • This study aims to discuss sustainable fashion trends and sustainable design directions that fashion companies are practicing with ESG in the post-corona new normal era. As a research method, this study examined sustainable fashion trends and ESG practices through empirical case studies focusing on each fashion brand's website, including previous research and literature research, using materials such as newspapers and magazines. As for ESG practice plans, they were divided into four categories: technology orientation, design orientation, consumption orientation, and social value pursuit orientation. The sustainable fashion trends were also divided into four categories. First, the trend exhibits cyclical sustainability using pro-environmental materials, such as pro-environmental fibers, recycled fibers, biodegradable fibers. Second, high sensitivity and rare value sustainability were shown using reuse and upcycling. Third, consumption-oriented trends were promoted through slow fashion. Fourth, in order to realize eco-friendly sustainable fashion and ESG as practical ways to pursue social values, there is a trend of integrating sustainability through changes in perception considering people, society, and the environment. Beyond spreading concern about value consumption trends and the environment, it presents a direction for future industries concerning core values with social roles, responsibility, and ethical awareness from various perspectives.

A Longitudinal Study on e-Service Quality Dimension to Each Period of Korea Wave for Rediffusion in Southeast Asia using QFD (QFD를 이용한 동남아시아 한류재확산을 위한 e-서비스 품질차원의 한류시점별 종단분석 연구)

  • Since the late 1990s, the Korea wave has been very big issue among Asian nations. It has been increased in some regions including Russia, East Europe, South America but it has been decreased in some regions including Southeast Asia, Japan and China. The stream of Korea wave has been changed until now. We need a study considering on the time period of Korea wave. So this paper shows several implications from some changes by each time period of Korea wave for Southeast Asia cultural regions. In order to achieve objectives of the paper, we collected and classified 2511 requirements from bulletin board systems and e-mails. It shows how to improve e-service quality and to enhance nation brand utilizing types of requirements of Southeast Asia cultural regions and by the time period of Korea wave using QFD methodology. These implications are applied to design a tourism website for Southeast Asia cultural region.

Case Study of Using Facebook of Each Type of Internal and External Sports and SPA Fashion Brands (소비자 활동 지표를 통한 국내외 스포츠, SPA 패션 브랜드의 페이스북 활용 사례연구)

  • This study selected a case study method conforming to qualitative research in order to analyzed how each type of fashion enterprises uses SNS in-side of fashion marketing based on content the researcher monitored and selected from the Facebook website for each enterprise. The standard to select fashion brands in this study is a graded list made based on ranking 5 analysis sites on social media (Socialbakers, socialDigm, Pulse K, BigFoot9, L2). The researcher sorted and then analyzed 2 brands that have many fan joiners and followers among fashion brands that were ranked top of the graded list, work in Facebook animatedly, and had representativeness in each type (SPA, Sports Brands). The study was conducted from January 2013 to March 2013, and the index of Facebook consisted of 3 kinds of elements (comment, like, and share). Each numerical value was counted to decide the monthly ranking. Content analysis was divided into public relations about brand, public relations about products, and customer participation and activities; consequently, the researcher investigated which content was post conforming to the ranking. The study analyzed the analysis results of each brand derived through the method of study compared to other brands. The results are as follows. In case of SPA brands, the category accounting for high rank in index analysis are public relation events to attract customer attention and products and offering information. The results of the monthly trend about whole post category were also similarly analyzed so the promotion goal that the brand wants to seek in priority coincides with the customer compliance rate. Next, in the case of sports brand, public relations for products offering information, event for arousing customer concern, and participation activities accounted for a high rank in the index analysis and posted the most in the analysis of the monthly trend for whole post category. The researcher came to understand that the direction of content for brands shown through Facebook coincides with customer sympathy.

A Study on Advertising Effects of Commercial Films According to the Characteristics of internet users (인터넷사이트 이용자 특성에 따른 광고영상 비교를 통한 광고효과 연구)

  • This study made a comparison of two different websites in characteristics of their users and advertising effects. Both websites have the same contents but in different forms. Especially this study examined the technographic, demographic and psychographic characteristics of users of an website which offers services only online and another website which offers services both online and offline. Also the advertising effects of both websites were studied. The analysis of the data was done by SPSSWIN, mainly $x^2$ and t-test. In addition, the data was collected online. The website, feelpost.com collected total 432 copies, and cardkorea.com collected 210 copies. Also among those collected copies, the ones from people in the 20's were selected again in order to rule out the special characters that both websites have in their users age group. Finally 308 copies were selected for the analysis. In result, it was proved that the users of both websites have a very similar lifestyle. Also there was only a little difference in the users' values and social consciousness. Regarding the advertising effect, Feelpost got the highest score in usefulness while Cardkorea got the highest score in positive acceptance of new products. Regarding the attitude toward advertisements and products, the advertising preference and brand preference was higher in Feelpost than in Cardkorea.

  • The research is devoted to the substantiation of the system approach to the involvement of digital marketing tools as a guarantee of international business development. It is proved that digital marketing, as a type of marketing based on the use of digital technologies allows to make a profit, to promote the brand, as well as goods and services in the market. The digital marketing toolkit system is a set of elements with existing relationships that ensure the effectiveness of the entire digital marketing, which in total is greater than its individual components. The implementation of a systems approach involves the implementation of the philosophy of digital marketing in general, its functions in the form of systems analysis, formation of strategic development goals and entry and promotion in the international market, preparation and implementation of tactical and strategic development plans.The use of such digital marketing tools as: content marketing, social media marketing, Email-marketing, targeted advertising, contextual advertising, media advertising, Search Engine Optimization, affiliate programs and the company's website is analyzed in detail.

The Importance of Green Fashion Product Development to Improve Consumers' Environmental Awareness

  • Purpose - The current study aims to learn how fashion consumers now feel about environmental issues. The significance of "green fashion product creation" in resolving environmental issues is explored. It also examines how customers' environmental consciousness has evolved due to the introduction of green fashion products. Research design, data, and methodology - The study methods, procedures, and results of the 16 publications included in this literature review were critically examined. The data sources, analyses, and key findings presented in each publication were compared and contrasted. To better understand how to raise environmental consciousness among customers. Result - The investigation indicates a total of four results why eco-friendly product should be developed to attract potential green consumers. Four solutions are as follows; (1) Encourages Sustainable Consumption Behavior, (2) Increases Consumer Environmental Awareness, (3) Improves Corporate Social Responsibility, and (4) Enhances Competitive Advantage. Conclusion - Promoting sustainability in the fashion sector requires full visibility throughout the supply chain. Companies in the fashion industry would serve their customers better if they were more forthcoming about the resources, methods, and circumstances that went into making their wares. Consumers may accomplish this by including instructions on the packaging or posting them on the business's website.
