  • In [8] they introduced a new finite element method for accurate numerical solutions of Poisson equations with corner singularities, which is useful for the problem with known stress intensity factor. They consider the Poisson equations with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition, compute the finite element solution using standard FEM and use the extraction formula to compute the stress intensity factor, then they pose a PDE with a regular solution by imposing the nonhomogeneous boundary condition using the computed stress intensity factor, which converges with optimal speed. From the solution they could get accurate solution just by adding the singular part. This approach works for the case when we have the reasonably accurate stress intensity factor. In this paper we consider Poisson equations defined on a domain with a concave corner with Neumann boundary conditions. First we compute the stress intensity factor using the extraction formular, then find the regular part of the solution and the solution.

  • In this work, the movement pattern of a floating breakwater is numerically analyzed using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method as a Lagrangian scheme. At the seaside, the regular incident waves with varying height and period were considered as the dynamic free surface boundary conditions. The smooth and impermeable beach slope was defined as the bottom boundary condition. The effects of various boundary conditions such as incident wave characteristics, beach slope, and water depth on the movement of the floating body were studied. The numerical results are in good agreement with the available experimental data in the literature The results of the movement of the floating body were used to determine the transmitted wave height at the corresponding boundary conditions.

  • In this paper, static and oscillatory instability of a nanotube conveying fluid and modelled as a thin-walled beam is investigated. Analytically nonlocal effect, effects of boundary conditions, transverse shear and rotary inertia are incorporated in this study. The governing equations and the two different boundary conditions are derived through Hamilton's principle. Numerical analysis is performed by using extend Galerkin method which enables us to obtain more exact solutions compared with conventional Galerkin method. Variations of critical flow velocity for different boundary conditions of a nanotube with analytically nonlocal effect, partially nonlocal effect and local effect of a nanotube are investigated and pertinent conclusion is outlined.

  • An analysis is presented for the response of a beam constrained by a nonlinear spring to a harmonic excitation. The system is governed by a linear partial differential equation with a nonlinear boundary condition. The method of multiple scales is used to reduce the nonlinear boundary value problem to a system of autonomous ordinary differential equations of the amplitudes and phases. The case of the third-order subharmonic resonance is considered in this study. The autonomous system is used to determine the steady-state responses and their stability.

  • This study was to investigate the relationship between the gel layer thickness and swelling boundary via strength measurements using texture analysis. The novel texture analysis approach was used to examine the dynamics of swelling behavior in a ternary polymeric matrix tablet. The method permitted the characterization of the changes occurring at the peripheral as well as within interior boundary of the swelling during water ingress. The increase in gel strength for pectin, HPMC, and a ternary mixture with gelatin was found to depend on polymer concentration. Therefore, this method is further applicable to characterize the swelling behavior and provide opportunity to differentiate the gel-layer from that of swelling boundary.

  • In this paper, we detect shot boundaries using $X^2$-histogram comparison method which have enough spatial information that is more robust to the camera or object motion and produce more precise results. Also, we present normalization method to change Log-Formula and constant that is used for contrast enhancement of image in image processing and apply in difference value. And, present shot boundary detection algorithm to detect shot boundary based on general shot and abrupt shot's characteristic.

  • Fractal dimension is the method to measure the roughness and the irregularity of something that cannot be defined obviously by Euclidean dimension. And the analysis method of this dimension don't need perfect, accurate boundary and color like analysis lot diameter, perimeter, aspect or reflectivity of wear particles or surface. If we arranged the morphological characteristic of various wear particle by using the characteristic of fractal dimension, it might be very efficient to the diagnosis of driving condition. In order to describe morphology of various wear particle, the wear test was carried out under friction experimental conditions. And fractal descriptors was applied to boundary and surface of wear particle with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze shape and surface wear particle are boundary fractal dimension and surface fractal dimension.

  • In this paper, the stress intensity factors at the crack tips in a finite plate having a straight crack with arbitrary lengths and directions are analyzed by means of Boundary Collocation Method in Cartesian coordinates under the following two cases. A) Case of only considering stress components at the boundary collocation points B) Case of considering stress resultant at the boundary, in addition to case of )A) and analyzed by means of F.E.M. To certify the Boundary Collocation Method the solutions of B.C.M. are compared with the solutions of F.E.M. demonstrates the simplicity of input data preparation and the reduction of cpu time against F.E.M.

  • An active control of the lateral vibration of a translating tensioned Euler-Bemoulli beam is investigated. The dynamics of the translating tensioned beam is represented by a non-linear hyperbolic partial differential equation. A right boundary control law based upon the Lyapunov's second method is derived. The transverse motion of the translating tensioned beam is controlled by a time-varying external force besides a passive damping applied at the right boundary. Exponential stability of the closed loop system is proved. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • This paper puts forward a method based on the boundary deformation for planar grid generation. Many methods start with the special properties of grid and switch to the solution of a direct optimization or a non-linear minimum cost flow. Though with high theoretical significance, it's hard to realize due to the extremely complicated computing process. This paper brings out the automatic generation of planar grid by studying the boundary deformational properties of planar grid, which leads to uniform grid and enjoys the simplicity of computation and realization.
